Ours Evermore #4

Kidnapping Their Third: Ours Evermore, Book 4

Rate this book
It’s tough to find out vampires exist on the same day you’re abducted by one, then kidnapped by another. It’s a good thing Cora isn’t prone to panic attacks or she might be catatonic. She is prone to violence, and her kidnappers are in for a surprise. CoraAfter only two dates, Cora is convinced Brian Pike is a genuinely nice guy. He's a gentle giant she wants to climb like a sexy tree. She might even consider letting him spend the night at her place—maybe. Then all hell breaks loose. She finds out her best friend was turned into a vampire when the two of them were abducted by an even more powerful vampire. She thinks rescue is imminent when a stranger digs her out of a pile of rubble. Then the stranger casually executes her abductor, shifts into a griffin, and flies off with her. She’s been kidnapped from her abduction! Now she’s being held by a guy who can’t string more than two words together at a time and refuses to let her go. PikePike fell in love with a feral vampire at their first meeting. The poor creature couldn’t even remember his name. Pike had hoped Kimble would get better, but even after months together, the vampire was still the same. Forced to work three jobs to keep the two of them housed and fed, Pike’s exhausted and constantly worried. Then he meets Cora. Both his human and bear side immediately know she's their mate. If she’s his mate, it means she must also be part of Kimble’s flock, the small group of people vampires share their souls with. It’s well known that flocks keep vampires from going feral, but can a flock bring a feral vampire back? Before he can figure out how to introduce Cora to Kimble, she’s taken. The outcome of the harrowing day results in Cora at his place with an entranced Kimble unwilling to let her leave. It’s up to Pike to figure out how to convince Cora to give them a second chance.KimbleThey are my flock. I will protect. They will not leave me. Although this novel tells the story of Cora, Pike and Kimble who we met in When Darkness Meets Dawn, it can be read as a stand-alone novel with an HEA. Kidnapping Their Third

Lots of interesting things going on in this book. I think my favorite in the whole series has been the way the threesomes challenge gender stereotypes. This author does a great job of disrupting the usual cliches. In this story, the big tough bear is the homemaker and gardener, and the little human is a master electrician. Dominance gets shared in different situations. They each support the others in working through abusive family and sickness.

I like the thoughtful way that domestic violence and bullying is addressed. Also, the realistic way addiction is handled. There doesn't need to be big bad guys in books to have plenty of conflict, and the family contract was actually a useful and sensible path towards healing and relating in the future.

I can't explain why so many of us seem to love snotty, controlling boy vampires, but it's just a thing. And who doesn't like it when they get nudged into a little humility,

“How did my life come to this?” Kimble asked the ceiling. “For a long time, I was the most powerful creature I knew. Now I’m in a room where I’m third on the list.”

A couple seconds later, he becomes fourth. I enjoyed the varied and unusual magical beings in the story as well as seeing past characters.

Yay! I finally got Cora’s story! I did catch that brief moment between the three of them in the last book, but this book goes over what happened too. I loved all three of them! Cora was such a force of nature. She’s had to be with so many brothers always in her space. The storyline with her family was heartbreaking and so good! Loved how it was handled! Pike! Oh my heavens Pike! Such a sweetheart and just the one of the genuinely nice guys! He sacrificed so much for Kimble and he never gave up on him. Loved him! His parents were the cutest and I completely love them! The part of the story about his sister also touched my heart. It’s a tough topic and I think how it was handled and discussed was so well done. And Kimble. More than half feral but so very devoted to both Pike and Cora. He was never afraid to truly show how he felt and I loved seeing him come back from the brink and finding the male he truly is. All three of them needed each other and you could feel that connection between them. Loved them!

Loving the series!

Kimble, Pike, and Cora bring very different dynamics to the relationship.

Kimble, doesn’t remember who he is. Cora is strong and comes from a very dysfunctional family and Pike is my lovable bear.

As their relationship grows and they become a flock they face challenges of trust, family interferences, and the need to support that comes with a vampire finding his mates.

We meet some interesting characters in this book and I see so many spin off possibilities.

I think you’ll enjoy this book. There are references to characters in other books so I suggest you read those first, but it doesn’t take away from the story if you haven’t.

Give it a try… I think you’ll enjoy it.

Kidnapping Their Third

A marvelous story, 4th in the series. They can be read as standalone but are better when read in order.
Pike and Kimble are together when Cora gets kidnapped by Kimble. This book has a lot about family dynamics and a whole bunch about preternatural beings. So much love and understanding! There is a happy ending but the stage is set for the next book. So great! Well worth reading!

A new flock

Cora finds herself in an old apartment with a vampire sentry who won't let her leave. Then Pike shows up and she discovers she is the third person for this vampire flock. Together the three of them have to figure out how to be together.

Pike and Cora both have family issues that they have to face. RK does a great job explaining how difficult family relationships can be and reminding us all that we are worthy of unconditional love for being who we are.

A very nice ending I liked how previous characters in other books were also in this book. This book was very interesting it had different characters that tie all the loose ends. I would recommend this book and series to someone looking for a great storyline.

Cute and fun!

This book is a great addition to the series. The way that the human tale is the big motivation for the action helps ground it, and the author has created a very inviting supernatural world I love exploring!

Just okay

The world had strong potential. I liked the flock dynamics and their influence on feral vampires, but I never fully bought into the storyline or characters.

sooo good!

I have been looking forward to reading this book before the last book in this series was out! And the release date move forward! Then back another month. I started counting the hours 2 weeks out and getting excited more each hour as the release date came closer. I was not dissatisfied when I read the book (none of RK Munin’s book are boring or make me want to throw my kindle through a wall). Can’t wait for the next book!

Loved the characters and premise! I kept disconnecting from the writing until about halfway through, though.
