In a creepy old manor, a mad scientist unleashes a monstrous creation - an amalgamation of corpses sewn together in the heart of a BDSM dungeon. Local news videographer Toby is drawn into the horror that awaits in this warped retelling…
Inspired by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's groundbreaking queer science fiction and horror masterpiece, "Frankenstein", this adaptation roars to life with fervor. It's depraved, hopeful, horrific, and unapologetically queer. A retelling of the original body horror & undead novel.
Sensuality and terror entwine as Toby navigates the macabre manor; discovering a beautiful message of self-love hidden in the shadows.
This M/M erotic, abhorrent reworking of FRANKENSTEIN is brutal, disgusting, and not for the faint of heart. Yet, this story has a lot of heart beating through the chaos.
Happy endings await, but not without a twisted journey & a few monsters along the way.
-READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED- Graphic violence, sexuality, body dysphoria, body horror & brutality are a part of this tale.
OK, so I was totally sold on this one on the cover alone. From the very second I saw it posted, I just had to have it! I've never read anything by Dixon before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. This was SO much fun and I'm so happy I took the plunge! It was insane, gory, funny and sexy! Lots of laugh out loud moments amongst the gross and bloody moments, I had a BLAST!! 💚
This was a really quick one-sitting read that was a ton of fun with lots packed in, and with a deeper meaning underneath it all, one of wanting to be your true self, finally. It was heart-warming and satisfying!
Toby and Nathan are waiting to film Fukkenstein’s latest experiment for the local news. They have exclusive access and are in for the full VIP experience including front row seats to the action!
Their relationship is very flirtatious, both of them wanting each other but not acting on their instincts, not until they fear for their lives that is. Toby has always had a secret crush on Nathan, and a secret about himself that he's not quite ready to share. He's always wanted to feel more of a man, is that dream about to become a reality? The lust and want is great, but Nathan’s acceptance is even better! It emboldens Toby, and things escalate rather quickly.
After dinner with Fukkenstein and his sidekick, Igor, they head upstairs to seek what they came for. What they find however, is something else!!!!
I loved finding the little Easter eggs to the original Frankenstein such as the names of the road/intersection. It was super fun!
This was a very interesting story, and of course, because I forgot to write my review, and it’s been like 6 days, I’ve forgotten entirely what I was going to say about it. It has nothing to do with the content, writing, or author.. I’m just a twat that can’t remember the plot of the book I just closed.
Overall, I did have fun and enjoyed it. I will be reading more by this author for sure.
Yes, this is an extreme horror book with some nasty parts. Yes, it still managed to get a deep seated theme of self acceptance across and strong character development. YES, it did give me the warm effed up fuzzies. Did I mention this was all achieved in 30 pages? This novelette was fun, gross, inclusive, and opened up the reader to the perspective of a main character who has challenges that are not covered nearly enough across all fiction. I had fun on this fearless journey and I believe it can appeal to all readers in one way or another. Excellent work!
Ok wow. So I definitely went into this thinking it was going to be an unhinged tale of depravity and gore, and it was, but it was also SOO much more and I definitely didn’t think I’d be in my feels as much as I was. 🫶🏼
First off. Dixon’s dedications are becoming my favorite things ever which I’m SOO here for.👇🏼
“For anyone who carried the burden of feeling like a monster. Your worth isn’t measured by how others view you. Your worth is weighted by the way you love yourself. Besides, sometimes the monsters have more fun anyway.”
Second— Dixon really managed to do an insanely unique adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. A retelling of the original… but make it queer, add BDSM and a few big peens. 🤭
Third— I loved how this story was told. In the first person by a trans that has such an incredible character development from cover to cover, and you can REALLY feel all the emotions etc through the writing and inner dialogue. 🏳️⚧️
Fourth— Hehehe. Dixon still provides some completely ridiculous gag worthy scenes and the unhinged language and vibes we all know and love from him. 🤪
Fifth— Okay this one is definitely going to sell you on reading the book… there’s henchmen (idk after Haunting / Hunting Adeline, I love me some henchmen 😂) aaaaandddd we get a vibrating 🍆 in the 👁️. Which haha. Judge me all you want, but for some reason those scenes always give me a good chuckle. 💀
Overall, do yourself a favor and grab this book. It’s a quick read at around 40 pages, available on KU and one thing I can promise is that you will not be disappointed. 🤌🏼
Fukkenstien’s Monster… by Dixon Sloughleigh. This is a great, fun and sexy read. My face ached from the big grin that was plastered on my face while reading this story! We follow our main character Tobias, with his camera and his coworker Nathan as they are invited to a strange, spooky house to interview the even stranger scientist who lives there…… Toby is trans and struggling to live in a body he hates, the wrong body, but he was still young and still had so much living to do. Nathan is far more confident and flirts with Toby and even reassuring him that he was becoming the man he was meant to be. Things might have developed into something much more if they had never stumbled into Dr F’s sinister sex laboratory, if they had not been lured there for a purpose by the diabolical doctor and his henchman Igor…… But they were invited there to see the doctor’s latest creation and damn if the doctor isn’t so attractive that it’s disarming and he really does have something to show them…. This is a story about finding out who you really are inside and being comfortable in whatever skin you’re wearing, even if it’s from a bloated corpse…… even a monster can be happy and free with the right attitude! I love Dixon’s style and I can’t wait to read more from him!! 4 & a half huge severed members out of 5 from me 🫶
As a cishet straight white male, you may be wondering why I took the time to read and review this short story. Well, as an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and as a lover of all things camp, just reading this description and interacting with the author on Facebook, I knew that I was bound to absolutely love this story. Turns out, I was right.
This is camp at its funniest, along with a smattering of heart and just a dash of gore. Pure gonzo, but Sloughleigh knows when to hit the moments just right, and when to let up. 38 pages flies by really fast, but it certainly gave a perfect short re-contextualization of the first Science Fiction story ever written.
Think an X-rated version of Rocky Horror as a short film, sans music, plus a trans main character. And penile mutilation.
This was just fun, but with a heart-felt message about being true to yourself and loving who you are as a person. The hardships and tragedies we face as we move throughout life.
Thank you for letting me be an advanced reader for this story, Dixon Sloughleigh, and thank you for the conversation we had about my late ex-wife. She would have gotten a giggle out of this story.
Thank you to the author and the publisher or publishers for all your hard work! I'm leaving this review voluntarily and happily! Take a look!
This is the second short story I've read from this author, and it truly didn't disappoint. The dark humor, gore, and twistedness that is, this book had me laughing the entire time. It's a M/M dark retelling of Frankenstein of sorts. Definitely could look away from my screen as I read it all in one go. There is death of multiple people and revenge, but that's always the best part innit.
Even with all the above being said, this does deal with body dysphoria and being Trans. If that's not your cup of tea, look away. If not, then continue on! You don't have to worry about heavy knock your panties off sex scenes. If anything, I was laughing the entire time.
I truly am enjoying myself and having a fukken good time with this short story. Perhaps you will, too.
Shelly can suck it! This is the “Monster” we needed back then!
Hits all the right feels for the eclectic-genre reader! A wonderful blending of personal growth and societal acceptance, paired with disgustingly magnificent gore and mayhem.
Experience a trans man’s journey like nothing else, as seen through their own eyes… and maybe the eyes of another… as he discovers, that even when we get all that we ever wanted, it may not be exactly what we bargained for...
This was my first entrance toward erotic horror and I have to say this was a great read. It's a retelling of Frankenstein, only more extreme and screwed up. However, there is a message of acceptance and loving oneself hidden under all the gore. That's all I can say without spoiling it.
It's a quick read, but one that hits well. Not to mention, I found myself cheering for the main character.
It's my first book from this author and I'll be checking out more.
I really enjoyed the fact that even with the gore and the fear and the dark eroticism, there was a moral to the story. It was a fun read and I enjoyed it, but I felt it could have been made into a bit longer of a story. I kind of anticipated the ending/twist, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Thank you for the ARC and the opportunity to read this! “That I can be powerful as I am, no matter how I’m seen by others. The only thing that truly matters is how I felt about myself.” Great line!
This was one hell of a strange read. I’m not sure I can say a whole lot about it without spoiling so I won’t chance that but I can say that if you liked this authors books Final Boy and Snowman then you will love this crazy ass story as well! Especially the “good” doctor. Don’t you just love a seriously hot, sex-crazed psychopath? Enjoy!
This story accomplished exactly what it set out to do. As a trans man myself, it's not often I get to read about a character that has the same relationship with their body as I do. Thank you, Dixon, for spreading your voice and attempting to raise awareness. This story is another step towards creating a better world!
A Queer Erotic retelling of Frankenstein, with some added gore for that extra little sprinkle of horror.
"Dr Fukkenstein was fit as Fukkenstein" a sexy Dr Frankenstein with a Frankenfurter feel, I really enjoyed the little Easter eggs from the Frankenstein Classic story too.
horror/smut/queer retelling of Frankenstein and I loved it! For how short it was, it was very easy to feel a connection with the characters! Definitely recommend if you’ve read or are interested in the original Frankenstein and would like a darker version 🖤
The writing in this one was much improved, way more graphic and imaginative, even though there were a few minor grammatical errors. There was a much more put together plot in this novella as well. I enjoyed the story and the characters, it was short and gross but also kind of cute in a way.
this book was bloody and sexy and gross and made wonderful commentary on the acceptance of trans people and how sometimes you have to lose yourself to truly make yourself !
the easter eggs and nods to different inspirations behind the story made me giggle, I enjoyed this a lot !
I fell in love with the main character in this story. Also there's a vibrator that is used for a weapon and I'm not mad about it. I need more death by vibrator deaths now. This is the way.
I'm not sure about this being labelled extreme. I didn't find that at all. It was more about the exploration of an individual torn between who he was and wants to be and less about the gore.
