First Impressions
I have been meaning to try this author for so long here. I actually saw this one at my local B&N and grabbed it because one….I had a favorite podcast (doesn’t exist anymore) where a group of ladies ALL raved about Beth Kerry and how much they all loved her work. And at the time I was wanting to explore more Erotic Romance and this book came out when Erotic Romance as a sub genre really exploded. But for some reason I just haven’t picked it up, and I will tell you, I am not sure why. But I was in the mood for something like this and I just wanted a classy erotic romance and this one fit the bill to a T. It was such a remarkable find and while it wasn’t perfect (as the pacing was completely engaging all the way through) I fell in love with how this was written and it just charmed me to no end. I really couldn’t help but fall for this story and the characters that I became introduced to. This won’t be the last time I pick up this author.

Summary
the “gist” of the story is that our heroine, Lin, is instructed by her boss Ian Noble that his brother is coming to town and is a rising star in the inventionist academia and Ian needs her to polish his brother up and tame him a bit. Lin has worked for boss Ian as his personal assistant for many years, and even though she has been in love with him, he is a man she can never have. But when she meets his growly brother she is intrigued by this untamed creature of a male who only fascinates her more and more despite his behavior at times. there is an instant chemistry between the two, and even they are opposites in their personalities, they burn with fire in each other’s arms. But as they explore their sexual relationship, something deeper forms between them that is unexpected. Will their passion for each other bring together a deep abiding love or will it threaten everything they hold dear? Will Lin and Kam find everything they have been searching for in each other’s arms?

What I Loved
Since I Saw You was simply a beautiful sensual read and I just was on their journey and cheering these two on all the way through. I just couldn’t contain how much I absolutely loved these two people and seeing them connect with each other was a beautiful experience. I will be honest that I didn’t know what to expect when I first picked this up, but after a few pages I knew that it would be a book i would highly enjoy and I definitely did. It was such a powerful story. And it also had a classy feeling to the sexual scenes that happen between Lin and Kam. Sometimes these days sexual scenes can be highly crude and vulgar. But in this one here we have such connection and beautiful moments that just explode between these two. I loved how opposite they are from each other but they make it work for each other. I was so intrigued by this unrequited attracted that Lin had to her boss though (I have a feeling there is so much more to the story I am missing there from the earlier books in the series) but I really felt for Lin in some ways. She was such a strong woman that deserved to find that happiness with Kam. Kam was quite a hoot of a hero. He is dark and growly with this French accent, and he definitely is a dominant in the bedroom but in such a easy-going way. He develops these scenes so naturally with Lin and it was so beautiful to see them connect not just sexually but emotionally in these intense moments.

What I Struggled With
There wasn’t too much I struggled with. The only thing that would have made this book better, was the story being more engaging. It was a quick read, but not as engaging as I was expecting it to be.

Overall View
Since I Saw You was a magnificent read and I was in love with the way that we see the development of growth within the story. Its an alluring romantic tale of fierce passion and tenderness perfectly balanced in one package to bring the reader delights and contentment.

Kam and Lin

Wow, dare I say it....too much sex? Don't get me wrong, the scenes are intense and hot but after a while I was looking for more talking and plot and less bed dancing. Full review to come on Fiction Vixen Book Reviews

Oh Beth Kery, where have you and your books been all this time?! How have I not known the hot naughtiness of your stories?! I’m surprised this book, Since I Saw You, isn't smoking from all the hotness it contains. This is one of the steamiest and sexiest books I’ve read in a quite a while. I was blown away by the level of eroticism of the story which just grabbed hold of me from the beginning and kept its alluring hold on me for the whole ride.

This book was so well written. Kery did a beautiful job of weaving an enthralling story about letting oneself go and feeling the raw animal sexual nature of themselves. I was taken back by the intensely explicit sex scenes probably because it has been a long time since I've come across a book that was this explicit and was written very well. And honestly speaking it actually what made the book so good. Suffice to say I wholly enjoyed those scenes. This explicitness doesn’t mean that the scenes lacked class and taste. They were beautifully rendered by Kery’s writing, successfully illustrating the intense passion that Lin and Kam had for each other. I appreciated how each scene was different and seemed to build upon the level of intensity each time. No sex scene was ever the same. Those scenes were some of the best I’ve ever read which is saying something considering I tend to get very nitpicky about them.

The book wouldn’t have been as great as it was if it weren’t for its main characters, Kam Reardon and Lin Soong. Their chemistry was off the charts, from the moment they first met the sexual tension between was just jumping off the pages. They each had characteristics that made them so alluring and sexy. Kam is one unique male with his appearance of aloofness and isolationism with his palpable sexual energy combined with his rugged good looks and intelligence. He’s a complex man who had the ability to attract you with his blatant honesty and sex appeal. He’s definitely one of the more intense characters that I’ve read and damned if I didn’t enjoy it immensely. On the side is cool, calm, collected Lin who seemed to have everything in her life intact. Until, that is, she meets Kam. What makes this couple work is how Lin was so open to everything that Kam offered. It was obvious how much she enjoyed letting go and just feeling everything that she experiences. I was completely absorbed reading how she eagerly submitted to Kam and how it enhanced both of their pleasures. Their relationship was one of the more well suited ones that I’ve read which went a long way to making this book so such a joy to read.

I don’t know what else to say about this book. It is one of the best erotica I have ever read. It manages to keep you on edge throughout and taking you for a sizzling hot ride. This is the kind of book that you have a hard time putting down and if you do you couldn’t wait to get back to it. This is one of the more naughtier books that I have read and I am not afraid to say that I loved it. I am now definitely a Beth Kery fan.

Thank you
for all the emotions, Beth.

This book has one of the best Asian-American representation in romance I've ever seen. Lin Soong is multi-dimensional: cool and collected, and then passionate and sensitive. She is also tall, has curly hair, and is proud of her Chinese heritage. Beth Kery doesn't rely on any stereotypes to build Lin's character, and I'm very grateful.

Kam is the alpha male we all need. He's not alpha in the sense that he's possessive and controlling; he's alpha in the sense that he has a sensitive side and always puts Lin first. Especially her pleasure. Oh my god, seriously, the sex in this book is so so steamy. To have two people open up to each other with no hesitations - all the while making sure each one gives consent and is comfortable - is just straight up sexy.

The one thing about this book that may turn off readers is the fact that there is a lot of sex. Like, a lot. It's basically erotica, and I usually hate it when romances are like this. And although I did wish there was a little bit more focus on the plot, I didn't mind the sex because Kam and Lin's chemistry is amazing. The plot, too, is interesting. Kam is a brilliant med student who has created a life-changing mechanism kind of like the Fitbit but better. It's Lin's job to "tame" him, i.e. help him open up to the idea of having investors obtain his invention. There is just enough tension in the plot that makes the story flow very well.

The only qualm I have with this book is that I thought the ending could have been just a couple of pages longer. The conflict was just the right amount of drama, but I felt its resolution (minus the Epilogue) was rather shortlived. But then again, the conflict wasn't so dramatic to begin with.

Quick & Dirty: A woman whose life revolves around work meets a man determined to get her to let go of her control in this fabulous erotic love story by Beth Kery.

Opening Sentence: Lin Soong hurried down the sidewalk, her face coated in a thin layer of perspiration overlaid with an autumn mist.

The Review:

Lin prides herself on being a fantastic executive assistant to Ian Noble. The fact that she’s also in love with him only makes her want to do an even better job of being the best assistant she can be. So when Ian asks her to help his half-brother Kam prepare for some business meetings, she readily accepts. Little does Lin know that doing so will change her life forever. As soon as she sets eyes on Kam, Lin is swept away by an attraction stronger than she’s ever felt before. Kam makes her do things she never would have imagined herself doing. He even makes her forget about work. But is she just attracted to him because he bears a strong resemblance to Ian? Or are her feelings for Kam stronger than any “love” she thought she felt for his brother?

When I first read the description of this book and realized it was not only considered erotica, but also BDSM, I was not thrilled. There are very few erotica novels that I’ve read that I’ve also enjoyed. The ones I’ve been exposed to have basically been all sex and no plot, and that just doesn’t work for me. And as for BDSM, I have no problem with it, but it’s just not my thing, so I don’t really want to read about it. So to say I wasn’t excited about reading this book would be putting it mildly.

No one was more surprised than me to find that I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. Kery’s writing just drew me in and made me feel connected to these characters in a way I never expected. Yes, there’s just as much sex as you would expect from an erotica novel, but it feels integral to the story Kery is telling and doesn’t seem needless at all. As for the BDSM elements, I can’t speak to how accurately Kery portrays a mild BDSM relationship, but it really worked in the story.

My only complaint with the book is that there is unnecessary drama towards the end. It really only served to draw me out of the story rather than worry that it was really going to cause a long-term rift between Lin and Kam. If it hadn’t been for that, this may have gotten five stars from me.

All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised by this novel. It moved quickly and told a fabulous story of a romance between two fantastic characters. As much as I’m not usually a fan of erotica, this book has made me realize that not all erotica novels are bad. I’m definitely going to be looking into Beth Kery’s other work to see if it’s all as good as this book was.

Notable Scene:

“What I don’t get,” Kam said as he drew on his shirt, taut muscles flexing in a jerky, impatient motion, “is the limit.”

“The limit?” Lin asked slowly, his words interrupting the flow of her mental rehearsal for talking him into staying. His flashing, furious gaze made her pull the sweater tighter over her naked torso.

“Yeah. Weren’t you up for working overtime?”

It took a moment for his meaning to settle in. When it did, hurt and fury flooded her.

“How dare you say something like that to me! This,” she glanced back at the mussed bed, “had nothing to do with work.”

“Really? Nothing to do with Ian?” he bit out, shoving his arms into the sleeves of his jacket so forcefully she heard the seam protest with a ripping sound. “Everyone is always saying you’d do anything for him.”

“No,” she exclaimed, standing. She couldn’t believe he’d just said that. But then a thought occurred to her, and she paused in her heated defense. Her uncharacteristic behavior tonight did relate to Ian, didn’t it? To her secret, buried feelings for him? Too late, she realized Kam had noticed her sudden distraction.

“Did Ian ask you to sleep with me? Soften me up a little? Make the stubborn country relation a bit more malleable? Palatable?” he demanded quietly, taking a step toward her.

“No! Of course not. You realize you’re practically calling me a prostitute, don’t you?” she almost shouted, anger and disbelief and confusion twining and beginning to roar in her blood. “Is that what you think? That Ian sends me out to sleep with his business associates? His family members?”

His features darkened. “Of course I don’t think you’re a prostitute. What I do think is that you’re a woman who would do just about anything for her job. For her boss. Everyone in the family is always going on about how loyal you are to him.”

Her mouth fell open in shock. Oh my God. She’d been so idiotic.

How could she have ever thought this rough, savage jerk was attractive? He didn’t even vaguely resemble the men she usually favored, but her libido just had to be appeased, didn’t it? This was the stupidest mistake she’d ever made.

She drew herself up to her full height, refusing to be cowed by the fact that she was standing half-dressed in front of such a complete, astronomical son of a bitch. He’d just burned her to her very core, and then had the nerve to call her a whore and Ian’s bowing minion in one fell swoop. She’d let him burn her.

“Get the hell out of my house,” she said quietly.

Building a future

This is one of my absolute favorite books! For a while I lost track of it, I couldn’t remember the title or the author, but I remembered every moment of the story. The entire series is a wonder to read, but this book has captivated me from my very first experience with it. I love the characters! They are so different and yet much more similar than they think. I love the emotions the author was able to capture and how the story really tied the entire series together. This book is the perfect example of two lost souls being drawn together into a HEA that brought tears to my eyes. I can’t wait to read more by this author, but I know this won’t be the last time this book graces my ereader.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review at Seductive Musings.

This review may contain spoilers for previous books in the Because You Are Mine series. You can read this book as a standalone, but I believe you’ll enjoy it more if you’ve read the other books first.

When I found out there would be one more book in Beth Kery’s Because You Are Mine series, I wondered if it could live up to the others, especially now that Ian and Francesca had finally gotten their HEA. But I should have known Ian Noble’s brother Kam would have no problem bringing the same intensity to his romance with Ian’s coolly efficient right-hand woman that I’d come to expect in this series, and not just because he’s practically his half-brother’s double. For despite all the similarities between Ian Noble and Kam Reardon, Kam is most definitely his own man, and that’s what makes him irresistible to Lin and to this reader as SINCE I SAW YOU brings this wonderful series to a satisfying close.

My impression of Kam in the previous book, BECAUSE WE BELONG, was that of a man who didn’t give a damn about what anyone thought of him. After all, he already shared a common blood bond with his two half-brothers, Ian and Lucien, thanks to the criminally insane father. But unlike Ian and Lucien, Kam had been in direct contact for most of his life with the evil man who’d spawned the three half-brothers and many more like them. Only by appearing to reject his own beloved mother could Kam protect her from that man’s retribution, but in the process, Kam began to doubt his own ability to love and protect anyone else in his life. There had been another woman he’d thought loved him for himself, but she’d ultimately let him down. So when Kam first spots Lin Soong walking toward him for a prearranged business meeting in SINCE I SAW YOU, he has remind himself no woman like her would ever want a life with him, even as he knows he must get this woman in his bed as soon as possible. But as Lin becomes an all-too-essential part of his new life in Chicago, can Kam keep himself from crossing the line between business and love?

Unlike Kam, Lin has spent her entire life keeping her own wants and desires locked safely away where they can never derail her successful career and devotion to Ian Noble, the only man she ever thought she wanted. Lin already knew even before Ian had found love with Francesca that he’d never be more to her than her boss and friend. But when she sees Kam Reardon for the first time, his physical resemblance to the man she can never have nearly takes her breath away. There are other similarities in personality and temperament, but it’s Kam, not Ian, who will stop at nothing to make Lin his own. Now Lin has to decide if it’s worth blowing up her carefully constructed life for someone who is either the best or worst thing that has ever happened to her.

Lin had been portrayed throughout the series as an emotionless superhuman, so it was gratifying to see her reactions to Kam as he quickly shook her sense of self down to its foundation. Even as she attempts to “civilize” him, he continues to expose the wildness she’s spent a lifetime keeping locked away. The passionate result of their physical alliance soon terrifies them both. But as they realize just how similar they really are, it’s trust that Lin and Kam need to find with each other, for only then can love survive whatever happens next.

What I loved the most about SINCE I SAW YOU was how the romance between Lin and Kam was the driving factor for the entire story, even as the various external pressures loomed large in the background. After the rollercoaster suspense of the previous book (which I did enjoy immensely), it was a relief to discover that what was most important in this book was learning more about what motivated both Kam and Lin in their lives up to the point when they first saw each other, and how they needed to trust their feelings for each other now over what had hurt them both in the past. Their understandable concerns about a lasting commitment may have led to the Big Misunderstanding that nearly split them apart, but it made sense in what had been slowly revealed during the story. Best of all, both Kam and Lin were able to realize their mistake in time to produce a beautiful scene of mutual apology leading to their own satisfying HEA.

SINCE I SAW YOU is a captivating example of a romance between driven personalities from different worlds who share a common goal of success in both business and love. It was a beautiful conclusion to one of my favorite recent series, and my only regret was that it had to end.

My first impression of Since I Saw You honestly came from the cover and the promising premise. I have never read Beth Kery previously, so I jumped into this book blindly unsure what to expect. I love trying new things and I am not afraid of it, so why not? What I got in return was a very pleasant surprise.

Thought this book is part of a series, it was said it can be read as a stand-alone. It did, to an extent, but at the same time the back story that I missed kind of hung in the back of my mind the entire time. Which was okay, because the current story made up for it!

Wow Beth Kery's writing was simply stunning. I love how it took off from the very first page and no sooner did I find myself invested in the story as I also did with the main character's, Kery really knows how to pull in her readers and make them feel included.

Since I Saw You was a very driven character story, which I enjoy very much. Kam and Lin really made the romance in this novel shine. Their chemistry was explosive from the beginning, and the tension completely sizzling. Thought I wish there was a little bit more built up at the beginning, Kery seemed to know how to make everything work just right.

The two couldn't be more different. Kam is kind of reclusive, likes the solidarity, very straight forward and honest as well as very intense. He also cannot really keep a relationship in his life. Lin is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Lin job was basically her entire life, a bit more reserved, possibly in love with Kam's brother Ian and not very open - until she meet's Kam and slowly starts to let her hair down. The journey alone was a bit different for Lin and the experience that Kam bought with him. The two couldn't be more opposite and yet it's what drew them together and made me fall in love with the both of them! Watching the two stumble and learn about themselves was exciting. Neither were very perfect and at the beginning Kam kind of found himself walking on eggshells around Lin and has made a few mistakes. But it's hard not to enjoy watching these characters interact and the slight struggle between them. Their interaction was very human and believable. I love watching both of them open up and grow as characters. Not only in bed, but out of bed as both bought down some of their walls unexpectedly in order to let each other in. I found myself rooting for the both of them until the very end.

Kery has weaved an emotionally driven tale with stunning characters and engrossing plot that left me turning the pages and before I knew it relishing the sweet and perfect ending.

I got a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

3.5 STARS

Review copy provided for an honest review

This book had a very slow start and a minimal plot, but lots of sizzling sex scenes.
Lin Soong has been in love with her boss, Ian Noble for years, knowing he doesn’t return the feeling. She has thrown all her passion into her work as an executive for Noble Enterprises, working all the time. That changes when Ian asks her to smooth the way for his genius brother, Kam, who has invented a biometric feedback mechanism that can fit on something the size of a watch. Kam is in Chicago to meet with representatives of watch companies that can manufacture his device, but his knowledge of the business world is negligible. That’s where Lin comes in-she is an expert at charming clients while providing invaluable background on them to her boss, or in this case, Kam.
Neither of these two oddly matched people are prepared for the sparks that fly between them. The vast majority of the book is dedicated to the couple having progressively rougher sex . But Lin is shocked to find that Kam has a super active sex life, and Kam, in turn, is dismayed to learn that Lin has been in love with Ian forever. Can these two vulnerable souls come together to form a more stable whole?
The book is emotional, and the sex will leave you searching for a way to cool off. Expect spanking, bondage, and anal play.
Kam is a yummy Dom, and Lin is an intelligent woman who finally realizes that her infatuation with Ian is just that. I would have liked a faster start and more plot with the sex, but once I moved past the beginning chapters, it was captivating.

Ian's newly found half brother Kam comes to Chicago from France in hopes of getting to know his new family and also bringing his brilliant new invention that Ian assures will be a huge success with his helpful business connections. Ian's got a full plate with his company and his wife Francesca expecting their first child, he asks his loyal right hand, Lin, to help his brother with potential investors wanting to buy his invention, she agrees and sets up a business dinner with Kam. Lin & Kam share a instant attraction when they first meet and a strong sexual tension that couldn't be ignored. Lin invites Kam to her home and their casual sex affair begins. In previous books, we only see Lin's business side. She's a workaholic and lives an orderly life but when Kam dominates her, he brings out her real side, a side know one sees but him and he starts falling for her beautiful submission to him. She starts falling from him too but they're both afraid of unreturned love but their unspoken truths could do more harm than good!

I really enjoy Ms. Kery's stories. Her main characters have the steamiest sex scenes and go through the biggest struggles just to be to be together and have their Happily Ever After! It's a wild & fun ride! It's what I love about reading! Ian and Francesca are my favorite couple from this series! Highly recommend Because You Are Mine Series!
Happy Reading! ;-)

It was nice. But I would be lying if I told you there was much of a story outside of Cam expressing his feelings on her body and the way she moves.

I do love the ending where he is finally able to steal her from Ian. It makes for an interesting addition to their love story.
The only twist in this book is that they both made assumptions on the reasons why they came together and according top me Cam's assumption was mostly accurate.

It was rather hard reading Lin and understanding her feelings towards Cam for the initial part of their coming together and her reasoning behind it, this is why I will have to agree with what Cam concluded.

I think this is my favorite book from the series. I thought I was invested in Ian, Francesca, Lucien, and Elise's stories, but that was nothing compared to how I felt about Lin and Kam's story. The story was so enchanting to me. The only time I put it down was when I had to start work for the day. Lin was the perfect choice for Kam. I know it's just a book, but Kam's love for Lin is what dreams are made of. Hopefully I can find my "Kam" in real life, lol. A must read!

So I knew I wouldn't be able to put tuis down till the end and I was right. It was really good. Very Erotic but with a good story. A great ending to a great series. I love the way she incorporates the previous characters in each book. If you haven't read because you are mine you have to start there first this is book four in the series. This is definitely a series i would recommend. Since i saw you is to be released in may so start reading.

I read Beth Kery novels very, very slowly. I like to savor them. Her ability to keep the plot interesting along with deep POV is enviable. For a reader, it's just wonderful. I love to get lost in romances, and Ms. Kery builds such wonderful worlds and journeys allowing just that. She never disappoints and Since I Saw You proves that point - again.

MAH...

Ok so I am wondering how come I didn't know about the early read contest! Now I have to wait until May that seems like a long time to finish such an amazing story!

I loved this last book because it has such a wonderful ending to the characters and to bring them all together from the last 3 books, the ending was perfect.

Hm. So I first read this in 2014 and I LOVED IT.
I re-read it [again in the wee hours] ... so I really liked it but didn't L O V E as much? Maybe?

But ... it's still one of my favorite Beth Kery books. [Somehow I didn't think it was as hot this read? Or maybe it was the whole 4 AM half dead/tired/not tracking...]

I love Lin and Kam. Love them. They're SO PERFECT for each other.

And I also - like there are still BDSM elements which I think was "a thing" in this series - but it's not hardcore, and THAT I really liked.
Give me an erotic romance without BDSM.

I was also thinking - APPLE WATCH BEFORE APPLE WATCHES. [Upon this read.]
... You know what? I'm kicking it to 5 stars.

Bless the Asian American heroine. I found her incredible well rounded, and I liked the nod to her heritage and ethnicity and ALSO that it wasn't her defining thing, etc. Nor was it in any way a/his fetish.
This book has maybe the best Asian American romance heroine I've read. [heh]

And Kam. I love that ... well he "pretends" to be half feral but ... oh he's a darling - to/with Lin.
[I'm still not in love with her name :| but you know. Beggars can't be choosers?]

I'm sure I've read this more times than GR says - and I KNOW I'll be re-reading it again.

A great conclusion to the Because You Are Mine series by Beth Kery. Lin has always been a loyal and diligent employee. When her boss, Ian, asks her to step in an help his brother Kam on his trip to the US for business meetings, Lin is more than ready to help. What she doesn't expect is the almost instant attraction to Kam. And it's not just his good looks, he captivates her in conversation. Kam also cannot hide his attraction and even though they have chemistry in the bedroom they both have concerns and issues preventing them from taking their relationship public. And with Lin's loyalty to Ian coming between them, can Kam and Lin find a HEA? A really great, smexy read. Technically it could be enjoyed as a stand-alone but the characters from the earlier books do make an appearance so it enhances your enjoyment overall if you've read all the books. Ms. Kery is always a good read is you are looking for smexy characters and the emotions that drive a good relationship. Good read!

I enjoyed reading about Kam and Lin. It was so great getting to know more about Kam now that he was willing to get to know his brothers more which meant spending time in Chicago. We learned about his past with Gaines, it was tough hearing what he endured, we got to see a whole different side to him now that he was no longer a recluse. I have to admit I was shocked to learn how Lin felt about Ian for all of these years. I loved how Lin began to change the more time she spent with Kam, he made her give in a little, let loose a little which in turn made her look inside herself and see what her true feelings have been and were now. There was alot of super hot sex, misunderstandings, love blooming, and we got caught up with Iam and Francesca which was so much fun. I loved the ending of this book, just perfect. I will miss reading about all of these characters.

This is absolute trash. I had an acquaintance recommend it to me, but it is poorly written and about nothing but sex. And not just normal, emotional, beautiful sex either- this is just porn. The man only thinks about how the woman is making him feel- and uses her as an object rather than a woman- and she? Well the true tragedy is that she LIKES it. She likes being seen and treated as a sex object. Gross. I am not on board.

Enjoyed it. Liked the story very much.

I plowed through quite a few books and just kept adding the titles to my Goodreads list. Should've realized I'd be doing crap reviews on them.

I do remember really liking the storyline. Yes, it's smut, but not just a "slam-bam-thank you m'am". Don't get me wrong, I thought it was hot... the bonus was that I got to enjoy a good story too.

It was better than the last book of hers that I read, but that’s not saying much. The book and characters were pretty forgettable. Funny enough, I’d completely forgotten that I had read the first book (with Ian) until the author started talking like we should know this other peripheral relationship. Totally forgettable.
