The first half of the book was awesome giving new details on general rituals and reasons around that. It also introduces new things which we know less context about, like ashtamasidhi , rasavadham, nagalingam and also facts about nayanmargal.
But the second half becomes hayward, with story going in different direction with unnecessary new character and not so good a climax.
The story also seemed to have an abrupt end with lot of things not having closed.
In whole sivamayam is a wow book complete of first and first half of second, but a very ordinary book in the last half of second (in case you have read other books of the same author). Still it is a very good book which will introduce you to lot of new things and for that reason I would still recommend this book as a goodread

இரகசியம் இரகசியமாகக் காக்கபட்டால் மட்டுமே அதன் மதிப்பு அதிகரிக்கும். பொதுவில் வைக்கும் இரகசியம் பேராபத்தையே உருவாக்கும்.
பாண்டியன் காணாமல் போன சுந்தர்ராஜனை பார்ப்பதில் இருந்து தொடங்குகிறது.
இச்சாதாரி நாகமான பரணியின் கண்ணில் மாட்டாமல் தன் குடும்பக் கடமையை நிறைவேற்ற சுந்தர்ராஜன் ஷாலினியுடன் வந்த கண்ணனின் இறந்த உடலில் கூடுவிட்டு கூடு பாய்ந்து கண்ணனாக சென்னைக்கு வருகிறான்.
தடைபட்ட தன் முதல் மகளின் திருமணத்தை நடத்துவதும்,கண்ணனின் தாய்க்கு இறுதிசடங்கு செய்வதும் என்று எஞ்சியுள்ள அனைத்தையும் நிறைவேற்றும் சுந்தர்ராஜனுக்குத் தங்கமாக மாற்றும் ரசவாதம் தெரியும் என்ற விஷயம் அவரின் குடும்பத்தாருக்கே பேராசையைத் தூண்டிவிடுகிறது.
அஷ்டமா சித்திகள் அடைய வேண்டும் என்று இருக்கும் சாமியார் ஆனந்தர், நானே கடவுள் என்று சொல்லிக் கொள்ளும் மாகாதேவ் அனைவரின் முடிவும் சிவன் மலையிலே நிகழ்ந்தேறி அக்காட்டிற்கு இருந்த ஆபத்தும் விலகுகிறது.
இச்சாதாரியின் கோபமே அதன் இறப்பை நிர்ணயிக்குது.
தான் முடிக்கவேண்டிய கடமைகள் அனைத்தும் முடிந்த பிறகு சிவன் சேவைக்கே திரும்பவும் சென்றுவிடுகிறார் சுந்தர்ராஜன்.
சுந்தர்ராஜனின் குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்களின் மனதில் அடைந்து கிடக்கும் பேராசை பொன்னியால் பயம் காட்டப்பட்டு அது துரத்தப்படுகிறது.

What saved this book from a 3 star rating is the vivid and accurate devotional and spiritually charged paragraphs in every chapter.
The second part started off with a great pace and nice story flow. But, it came to an abrupt and needlessly introduced subplots in the end. The last hundred pages of the book turned out to be such a drag. I loved the portion till Balu and Pandian return from Sivanmalai and solve multiple problems. I loved all the characters and their arcs except the villains. Bharani was ok since we had history with him since book one beginning, but the big spiritual gurus Devendar and other guy Yogi was poorly constructed with no depth.
There were multiple errors with spellings, charcter names and quite shockingly with the subplots sequences too, which were jarring.

மோகன் - வித்யா திருமணம் தொடர்பான கதை நன்று! பொன்னியின் பங்கும் ரசனைக்கு உரியது.
கடைசி நூறு பக்கங்கள் தோ தோவென்று இழுத்து விட்டது. தேவையில்லாத எதிரிகள். அதுவும் நாகபரணி கதாப்பாத்திரம் சுத்த சொதப்பல். இதில் இரு குருக்கள் எதிரி வேறு- சற்றும் உட்காராமல் திணிக்கப்பட்ட உணர்வு. ஆனாலும், மலையில் நடந்த சம்பவங்களும் பேச்சுகளும் நன்றாக இருந்தன.
நன்றாக ஆரம்பித்து, ஏனோ தானோ என்று முடித்து வைக்கப்பட்டு விட்டது இந்தப் புதினம்.

Well, this is a typical Indira Soundar Rajan style of writing and plot. This shows in the narrative too where each chapter has 2 segments - the 1st part deals with Nayanmars' experience followed by the 2nd half which delves into the story. And this 1st part keeps continuing as a parallel story line throughout the book, alongside the main story.
At times, the Siddhar preaching gets boring with their indirect answers and observations to a problem; funny enough that few characters openly ask this as a question to them when they give a long lecture :-). Now, the reason it gets annoying is these conversations happens at critical junctures when there is only time to think and act. And we don't have time to listen to these long preachy sessions.
Another downside I see is the affluent-family-stereotype which is prominent is most his novels. This could be avoided. Also the rich bride groom engaged to Vidya comes across as a strong self established person but then his character takes a nose drive when he is also interested to have Balu's father present at the wedding. And a similar attitude is seen, when he suddenly becomes a greedy monster upon trying to learn alchemy. Same distortion with Damayanti's character who is always selfish and rude but when she faces death, she embraces it with grace realising the power of Siddhars - What!?!?!?!?
There are quite a few places where characters falter unexpectedly with no good reason. We are better off with some one like Lalitha who has maintained the same "greedy" tone all through. We know people are a mix of evil and good, but best to show reasoning for any changes to the character arc.
Otherwise it is an average read for his regular readers; and a "good" read for anyone reading his book for the first time.

Wasnt to my liking. No strong story or characters. I will stick to watching the series rather than reading it.

A must read book for all who believes there is a god above us!
It's just not about god, but does well narrated with a story. Really close to my hear story for this year 2025.

The first half of the story was interesting and was heading for an exciting finish but the climax was too rushed. The author introduced many interesting characters and I was hoping that the characters will at least have an important role in the plot but unfortunately it did not happen. I very much enjoyed the extra info written by the author. A decent one time read.
