Buried Beneath Sin

What could be more dangerous than three serial killers? How about the woman who possesses their hearts?

The Hunters

We came to kill my father and the family he replaced us with. But when we lay eyes on his stepdaughter, Beatrix Starr, plans change. Now, there’s nothing we want more than to possess the mysterious beauty whose soul is as dark as ours.

They freed me from my torment only to draw me into their own special type of hell.

The Fallen Starr

Thatcher and Sagan Hunt are sinfully delicious psychopaths, as is their partner in crime, Knox Keele. I should do everything in my power to unravel the sensual hold they have on me. Yet, the further I sink into their lawless world, the more I seem to thrive.

But they’re not the only men with secrets to roll into town.

Or the only ones willing to kill to get what they want.

A bit of a mixed bag. There are things that I enjoyed and others that I didn't. A bit unhinged, and not always in the best ways. I'mma read the second one tho. LOL

While I typically can handle dark books, I simply could not get past the first chapter. A MMC who can watch someone be drugged and raped and do nothing? That was not at ALL what I expected from the CW.

It’s not for me. However, if this is something you can handle the premise seemed great. I even chuckled a bit being from a Last Responder family in Indiana.

Knox was unbearable & by the blurb to the next book it's obvious she's gonna forgive him & the others so easily. Disappointing

Has a dedication ever gotten you out of a slump? I’ve been in such a long slump and this book successfully pulled me out because it was just that good!! I loved all the characters (okay maybe I’m a bit mad at one of them), I loved the plot and I honestly was struggling to put the book down because of how much was happening in this book. However it does get quite dark with triggers I can see not everyone being comfortable with but if you’re as unhinged as me you will eat this up, hehe see what I did there? 👀

This was absolutely fascinating. It was dark, deprived, unhinged and of course I loved it 🖤

The Hunt twins are out for revenge wanting their abusive dead beat father to die, and with him their step-family. But after one of the Hunt twins stalks their step sister Beatrix Star, sees what she is enduring from their father, he finds himself obsessed with her.

Beatrix who has endured the abuse from her stepfather, is desperate to get her drug addicted mother away from him but it’s a losing battle. But when she finds messages from a stalker (the twin) she lets him know she needs help. And help she gets, but at what cost?

They lur her into their twisted ways and posses her, the family funeral business and Beatrix’s family home. Together with Knox their killer twink lover, they do unthinkable things to people who treat Beatrix poorly, and she is forced along for all their crimes and killings.

This is MMFM and it is SPICY!!!🌶️ I cannot wait to dive into book two 👏🏼

Not killing Beatrix Starr is going to be the best decision we've ever made.

I’ve got a bit of a thing for unhinged serial killer MCs - I love a good villain. This book has three devilish killers to fall for. Psycho twins and a deranged pretty boy.

My only critique, which is entirely a personal preference, is that the FMC was a doormat. If you’re looking for a character like Daisy in Summon Us, Beatrix isn’t that. I was really hoping for a good girl gone bad moment where she came out swinging. Luckily, there’s a second book coming to grant me that wish (sending some stabby vibes out to the universe).

This book is DARK with multiple dark elements and non-standard relationship dynamics. Three of the four MCs are serial killers, so don’t expect light and fluffy. Expect unapologetic violence and death. Additionally, the FMC has a very traumatic past (both on and off page). Please review TW/CW available on the author's website before diving in.

A medium burn MMMF romance with more obsession vibes than actual conventional “romance” with NC, DC, CNC, and more.

Buried Beneath Sin is part one of the Graveyard Games Duet and ends on a cliffhanger.

5 ⭐️ Three serial killer men, one girl added to the mix and a whole bunch of f*cked up stuff in between. Definitely read the trigger warnings before getting into this one.

Loved the twins and Beatrix. Warming up to Knox; the prick 😅

This was a wild read from start to finish. Yes I know it took me FOREVER to read this one, considering I started it last month 😅 but, life happens. Anyway, this book is following Beatrix or Trixie depending on who is addressing her. She has had the roughest of lives, a mother who in the beginning was a decent parent who was eventually more concerned with her multitude of husbands or how she was going to git her next hit of drugs. Beatrix wanted to leave but in the end came home to run the family funeral home and endure the wrath of a horrible step-father. Little did anyone know, her step-father had some wicked sons and they are back in town to claim what they want, along with their Pretty Boy. Everything is over the top and dark and that cliffhanger was insane. I will recommend, but please check those triggers.

I'm divided about this book.

I liked the darkness factor and I liked that it was mm inside this poly relationship (tbh I only read poly with mm). I was also a fan of the setting.

On the other hand I had a problem with the plot and the characters.

At the beginning of the book Sagan, Knox and Thatcher were in a relationship. That Sagan instantly got as obsessed with Beatrix as he was seemd a bit weird for me. You only saw her suffer, what piqued your interest about her?

Beatrix as a character by herself wasn't bad. She didn't annoy me but I didn't find her really interesting.

Sagan and Thatcher are twins. Throughout the book they seemd as if they were just a few years older than Beatrix but they actually were almost forty. Sagan is the tougher twin who isn't really one for empathy and who doesn't exudes much warmth. Thatcher on the other hand is a bit more affectionate and caring. I think I liked his character the most. Especially due his persistence for communication in their relationship.

Knox is a bit different. He feels threatened by Beatrix and feels insecure in his relationship with the boys. He's younger, just a bit older than her but has a flamboyant look to him. He has many issues but we don't learn what exactly happened to him.
Later on he warmed up to Beatrix for a bit but his stunt at the end of this book ruined their relationship totally.

So the ending of this book ...
I actually thought Knox would do something worse but it was still bad and I say that Sagan isn't completely innocent for Knox action.
Honestly I feel for both chatacters. I mean the reasons for Beatrix are obvious but I also care for Knox because you could see the remorse for what he had done. He interpreted the situation completely wrong what drove him to this extreme punishment and I think that we'll understand it better when we learn about his backstory.

He probably lost Sagan and Thatcher for now and I fear what that does to him. I'm also interested in how Beatrix copes with what happened and how her relationship with the twins is gonna be.

I think that the author has many emotional reveals for the second book and I'm excited how this relationship is gonna develop.

The overall chemistry between the characters was okay. The relationship dynamic they had reminded me a bit of "Wanna play a game?" by Alina May. But for me there were two couples in this poly relationship - the first being Sagan and Beatrix and the second being Thatcher and Knox. I couldn't really detect the chemistry between Sagan and Knox and Thatcher and Beatrix or Knox and Beatrix. The story lacked a bit emotional chemistry between the characters and the reason why Beatrix is exactly the puzzle piece they missed.

All in all this was a solid read but I hope to get more depth into the characters in the next book.

Oh….my….god!

It is currently 12:19 am and I am writing this review just after finishing this book. MT Addams, respectfully, I would hug you and kiss you for this book! I mean, I was left speechless. Took me a bit to get my laptop and type this out. Seriously, I am speechless, and in a great way! I met Addams at Shadows and Seduction in New Orleans and got their book there. The premise was interesting for me and I put the duet on my TBR shelf. And I cannot believe I’ve waited this long to read book one! First off, my biggest warning would be to please read the trigger warnings for this book. It is dark and some would say very taboo themes. But seriously, read those triggers and if this isn’t something you can read, please pick another book.

So, without giving much away, we get to meet Sagan who is basically sneaking around his father’s house. Well, technically it’s not his house, it’s his wife’s house. Simply put, Patrick and his wife are the worst of the worst, and Sagan is here with plans to unalive the entire family, including Beatrix Starr, who technically is his stepsister. But when he finally meets Beatrix, Sagan is hooked! And all because of her eyes. Now, Beatrix doesn’t have it easy either. Patrick beats her and does things to her (yes this is why I say read the triggers before you read this book) and her mother isn’t the best either. But she tries to get through this day by day because of the family business, a funeral home. And the town she lives in isn’t that kind either. Best to say, life hasn’t been kind to Beatrix. Yet as Sagan becomes obsessed with her, he convinces his twin brother, Thatcher, to change their plans with Beatrix. Instead of ending her, they want to keep her. And their Pretty Boy, Knox, isn’t too happy with that decision, out of jealousy of course. But their plan goes in motion when finally, Beatrix gives them a sign after they offer to end all her pain for her. The trio is looking to settle permanently somewhere, but now, instead of just taking the house and funeral home for themselves, they are adding Beatrix in that ownership, making her theirs.

Now, yes the smut is dark and there is a ton of it, but damn is it so goddamn hot! And even out of how much is in there, it still doesn’t take up space from the story. So basically, this is smut with plot! But the plot! Oh my god the plot! I mean, yes, you cheer for the main lives they take, like Beatrix’s mom and the twins' father. And the two bullies that hurt Beatrix when she was younger. But these are three psychos attempting to mold someone that could be just like them. And that’s what you see in Beatrix. A poor girl that had it so bad in life, when she finally sees these things happen, she barely feels remorse. You get to see her struggle with her humanity, in feeling remorse for these lives taken, but then she remembers the bad things done to her and it makes her humanity in a sense go quiet. Letting her accept what these guys do because they end lives. All because she wants to be loved and accepted, included after being excluded all her life.

Beatrix and Knox are my favorites in the four, Beatrix for her want to fit in and be included, and Knox for his wild yet sometimes adorable behavior. Don’t get me wrong, Knox is cruel to Beatrix, but it’s because he is afraid of losing the brothers, afraid of being abandoned. And Beatrix wants to do her best to prove to Knox that she not just finds him attractive, but also admires his loyalty to the twins. You see the back and forth with Knox, his struggle to accept Beatrix.

And oh my god that ending! That cliffhanger! That’s all I will say about that so as not to spoil, but DAMN it has me wanting to read book two already! And as I mentioned at the start, it’s past midnight for me currently! I loved this, it was so hard to put down, took me three days to complete and now, in the morning, I begin book two because I NEED to know what happens next after those final two chapters!

Hmmm- this story is filled with interesting things going on. Our characters have some big flaws and some of their actions I am like WTF?! But it’s also been twisted fun! Spicy for days!

All in all a good dark “horroresque” romance!

This one was ok. I’ll read the sequel because they have me curious about Beatrix. I was genuinely shocked by some of this novel but other parts of it fell flat.

Umm so there are some graphic, detailed scenes, as warned by the author. Content warnings are no joke with this one.

Smut was pitch-black and very spicy. I appreciate the three distinctly different but *almost* equally unhinged psychos that come into Beatrix’s life. Thatcher is A+ material as far as morally-black men go.

The insta-obsession Sagan falls into was a little hard to fit with the rest of his sadistic, patient character. He watches some rough shit happen to Beatrix and does nothing but then becomes possessive of her and promises “no one else will hurt you again, just us.” Idk about that one, man.

And on that note, what they did to her/allowed to happen to her at the end was way worse than anything she’d been through before, and that’s saying A LOT. This woman had been through so much trauma. I hope she gives them hell in the next one. I don’t think there’s a grovel that can bring them back from this but I’m willing to give it a go. Of course, she’s probably going to forgive them in 2 days like the love-starved traumatized human she is…but a girl can dream Beatrix overcomes her trauma overnight, finds her self worth, and serves up what they deserve, right?

This book just wasn't for me. And not because of the pitch black elements (although I do prefer more grey tones in moral code), but because of Knox.

To explain it, I'll use a shifter romance analogy: the usual 'why choose' setup includes one omega and multiple alphas or betas. In this duet Beatrix is the obvious omega... but then Knox is written as an omega too. His role in the dynamic, despite having a dick, is coded as feminine. And for me that immediately triggers the "other woman" trope, which I despise.

What makes it worse is that Knox represents the worst kind of female-coded character. The type you usually see as the FMC's nemesis or just that bitch who tries to get with the MMC. Sometimes authors try to use this personality to create a "badass" FMC, but it usually fails spectacularly and leaves me wishing the heroine died halfway through the book. Knox landed firmly in that territory.

The second installment didn't fix anything. If anything, it made me more impatient, because every chapter had me waiting for either his death or simply the end of the duet.

Frankly, I also didn't enjoy the absolute brutality the twins inflicted on Beatrix and Knox. Torture for fun whoever you want outside the relationship, but the people you claim to love should be worshipped, not torn apart.

A train wreck with a lot of sex. I feel awful for the fmc. She has lived her life with one abuser to the next and now here she is with the current ones. I’m obviously not the target demographic but like a late night lifetime murder documentary, I didn’t change the channel.

**I swear to god, I will throw my kindle if she lets him eat her toe and I cannot believe that is a sentence that my own fingers have typed.

I didn’t really like any of the characters and the storyline was all over the place. I still feel like I’m missing a ton of basic information. It was pretty meh until the last chapter, now I’m gonna have to read the next one just to see what ends up happening lol
