In the tradition of classic sword and sorcery, Valen the Rogue in the Domain of Darkness pulls you into a forgotten corner of an ancient world where barbarians show little mercy and the defenders of civilization even less. Valen of Theralice, a master thief, finds himself trapped in the frostbitten Yetamen territory, bound in chains and facing execution at the hands of barbarians. When an Imperial fleet unexpectedly arrives, the stage is set for a gripping tale of escape, intrigue, and confrontation with ancient, malevolent forces.
Drawn into a perilous quest for a powerful artifact, Valen must navigate through a sorcerer's dark dominion, where shadows conceal ancient secrets and every step could be his last. Battling otherworldly adversaries, Valen's journey will test his resourcefulness and spirit.
This was a nice little find. Valen was sentenced to die by drowning chained to a pole. A ship appeared gave him life anew. At what cost? Valen, a thief and resourceful fighter, was charged to find an ancient artifact in a sorcerer’s tower. Tricked by his rescuers by poison, he had to face the menace for the antidote, or die trying. This was a sword and sorcery type novella written in more of a dark fantasy style with more details than a typical S & S story. A pretty good start. On to book 2.
Well written and pleasing adventure and clearly setting the grounds for a new S&S hero with hopefully further adventures to follow. A skilled rogue with a moral compass
