This epic conclusion to Laila and Trees’ story will have you glued to your eReader, or book, from the very first page. With Kimber being held hostage EM Security will do just about anything for her return, Ms. Black takes us on a statewide and an international chase with Laila, Trees, EM Security, and the Mexican Cartel…there’s so much going on. But Kimber isn't the only one that is missing now, with the cliffhanger from the first part of this duet we know that Laila is in danger and now we get to see how all of that unravels and what happens when Trees gets back to his house to find out that she is gone!
Laila is one of those characters you cannot help but root for, her backstory is so heartbreaking that you need her to get an HEA and maybe some revenge while she's at it because of horror's she's lived through. I'm thrilled to say that she and Trees do get their HEA, if you want to know if she was able to get any revenge you're going to have to read the duet because I don't do spoilers. 😉
I loved Laila and Trees story although there were times I found myself yelling at Laila. LOL The chemistry was great, the story line was great and I loved seeing old familiar faces again and being able to catch up with where they are now in their lives was a plus.
WICKED AND FOREVER is the sixth book in the Wicked & Devoted Series and the second book in Trees & Laila's Duet, I would recommend reading the series in order of release because there is a story line that runs through each of the books. I feel it would be beneficial to have all sides of the story although each duet can be read on their own if that is the way you choose to do so.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Age Gap Romances, BDSM Romances, Bodyguard - Client Romances, or Steamy Romantic Suspense Novels.

Laila is one of those characters you cannot help but root for, her backstory is so heartbreaking that you need her to get an HEA and maybe some revenge while she's at it because of horror's she's lived through. 5 Star review of Wicked And Forever (Trees & Laila Part 2) (Wicked & Devoted #6) by Shayla Black
Firstly if you haven’ read the first book in this duet, you need to STOP and read
Wicked as Seduction: Trees & Laila Part 1. After the way the first book ended I have been waiting not so patiently for this book. I could not wait to continue Forest “Trees” Scott and Laila Torres’s story ; it was everything I was expecting and so much more.
Their relationship hasn’t been easy and in fact just when Laila realizes her true feelings for Trees, her life comes crashing down around her once again. Can Trees save Laila once again? The action and suspense had me reading this book in almost one go, I simply couldn’t put it down, needing to know what was going to happen.
This was a great conclusion to their story and one I have no hesitation in recommending. .

Trees & Laila's epic conclusion
Trees and Laila's story continues in WICKED AND FOREVER, so if you have not read the first half of their story Wicked As Seduction, then go no further and read that one first.
From the very first page of this conclusion Ms. Black had me completely riveted and sitting on the edge of my seat. The story is non-stop action and the team from EM Security do everything they can to locate and rescue Kimber, who was taken by the Mexican Cartel at the end of Part One. While all this was happening, Laila is forced in to making a deal with the devil, the man who tortured her for six years, in order to protect Trees after his life is threatened. When Tress leaves his mission early and returns to find Laila gone, he's devastated. When he realises Laila left of her own accord and wasn't forced, betrayal eats him alive. Has she been playing him all this time? Trees goes after her, he wants payback, she shattered his heart and now he was determined to repay the favour.
From beginning to end, Trees and Laila's story was an emotional rollercoaster, tearing apart my heart and then slowly piecing it back together. Once again, Ms. Black has brought tension, anxiety, lies, suspense, tears, and love to another wonderful couple. I have loved every couple in the amazing series, but Trees and Laila will hold a special place in my book heart.

Wicked and Forever by Shayla Black this is book 6 in the Wicked & Devoted Series. This is Part 2 in the Trees & Laila story that started in Wicked as Seduction: Trees & Laila Part 1. So you will have to read that book at least to enjoy this one and Laila Torres and Forest Scott 'Trees' story. Laila is still not trusting and makes decision that could cause an issue for Trees. Trees is wanting to protect Laila and bring down the danger of course but things haven't been going as plan but this book starts to setting their path. Enjoyed this series and this duet.

Reading this book was like reading the "Fast and the Furious"! Non-stop action, my heart was racing, and I kept wondering if everyone was going to make it out alive!!
From the very beginning, Trees and Laila have not had an easy road. From her abused background, always having to fend for herself and worry if she was going to survive to live to see another day, Trees only wanted to take care of her, but Laila is stubborn to a fault pretty much for every reason I just listed. Add in she is also extremely protective of her family, which makes her combative and strong willed, traits that make it that much harder for Trees to comfort her which is what his big teddy bear nature says to do. Trees has barely scratched the surface of getting to know the woman he wants by his side forever, but that may never happen when she slips through his fingers to return to the abusers he was protecting her from.
Laila doesn't want to be put on a shelf and coddled, only be taken down when she's needed. She hates owing anyone, she wants to be treated as an equal, but it's hard not only in her culture to be treated as one, but in her life most men never see her period except as an object to be used. Her stubbornness usually gets her taken, almost gets her killed and beaten multiple times, but she's extremely quick thinking which has saved her over and over again. She's had to use her quick wits to survive as long as she has. She's a strong woman and honestly the more I read her the more I respected her hard headedness. She is someone that I wasn't sure would fit in the EM world, but by the end, her spirit and determination really won me over. I wondered if she would always clash with Trees instead of working together, because he too didn't always listen to her, but by the end they both meshed really well together.
The second half of this duet is truly non-stop and I've loved how this team keeps growing and changing.

There was a lot going on in this one, yet I was bored while reading it. It seemed like everything was one bit screw up after another, with people not really thinking things through, wanting to fix things by sacrificing themselves.
I was glad to see how things ended, Laila and her sister and nephew are safe and Laila is allowing herself to be happy with Trees and building a family of her own.

That book ends in quiet the cliffhanger and I so couldn't wait tot have Wicked and Forever in my hands. I don't even know that I should really get into the story not even a little bit because I am so afraid I might give away a spoiler. This book will make you cry so be prepared for that and you will be on an emotional ledge a lot of the time. There is no doubt that Laila has fallen so hard for Trees and now finds herself in the place where she will do any and everything to protect Trees but he thinks that she has been taken and then finds out that she really left on her own. But he doesn't know that she left him to keep him safe and doesn't want to take the chance on anything happening to her family either. Only 4 stars because of how annoying Laila was.
Trees, Trees was great. Absolutely loved him Laila, Laila on the other hand I just couldn't not relate to.
If she spent more time explaining to Trees and less time in her own head thinking about what could or could not be and trying to get rid of him she would have been more likable to me.
This girl thinks she's so clever but it's one bad idea after the next. Trees is not helpless. Not one bit. But she thinks her hair-brain ideas are the solution: ay ya ya
I just couldn't get into Laila.
She bends to pick up one of the bad guys gun and then notices one of his goons barreling down on her and instead of using the gun, the gun she just picked up she looks around for help? Come on this girl gets worse and worse. Through out the entire book it's been one stupid act after another. I just can't with this female character.
I'm all for the strong independent heroine. I just can't handle the stupid ones. Again I loved Trees.
I am very much looking forward to the next book with the next couple.

If she spent more time explaining to Trees and less time in her own head thinking about what could or could not be and trying to get rid of him she would have been more likable to me.
This girl thinks she's so clever but it's one bad idea after the next. Trees is not helpless. Not one bit. But she thinks her hair-brain ideas are the solution: ay ya ya
I just couldn't get into Laila.
She bends to pick up one of the bad guys gun and then notices one of his goons barreling down on her and instead of using the gun, the gun she just picked up she looks around for help? Come on this girl gets worse and worse. Through out the entire book it's been one stupid act after another. I just can't with this female character.
I'm all for the strong independent heroine. I just can't handle the stupid ones. Again I loved Trees.
I am very much looking forward to the next book with the next couple.

After enjoying Wicked as Seduction, I was left with high hopes for what would play out in the continuation of the story of Trees and Laila. There were so many things I wanted to see come together, and I gladly devoured this one in no time.
While I did enjoy the conclusion of this duet within the series, and the way it brought an end to the story arc that has continued throughout the start of this series, I did not enjoy it quite as much as I loved the first. For me, I felt like things were a little too easy with this one. The characters kept making mistakes that were easily fixed, somehow allowing everything to fall into place. In a similar way, the romance was sorted through one BDSM scene, which made it feel easy. While it did hook me and kept me turning the pages, I do wish there had been a little more to this one.
While not my favourite in the series, I did enjoy watching things come together. Moreover, I’m eager to see what comes next in the series.

This is a really fantastic book that had me so gutted that I cried so hard. Loved staying on edge. Laila had such a hard life and can’t help falling for Trees. But will she have to betray him? There’s so many twists, which drug lord is the worst? Laila will do anything to keep her family and Trees safe. Can he trust in her or did she play him? Loved getting updates on characters too. This book kept me so absorbed and I absolutely loved it. Really loved their happy ever after too. Can’t wait to read Matt’s story. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

The conclusion of Shayla Black's Trees and Laila duet, Wicked and Forever is well-written, fast-paced and "oh so steamy." Ms. Black does an excellent job with her character development of Laila and Trees. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship grow. There's plenty of action in this page-turner too. Laila and Trees have a very dangerous, super bumpy road to travel to their Happily Ever After. I enjoyed every minute of following along on their travels. Bonus in this book for me was getting time with one of my favorite book boyfriends, Jack Cole. I'm really looking forward to Ms. Black's next duet featuring Matt and Madison.

I thought this continuation of Laila and Tree’s story was so well done. These two still have such great chemistry and Tree truly is swoon-worthy. Their lives had so much drama which just adds excitement and suspense to this story and I couldn’t stop reading.

FINAL DECISION: An enjoyable conclusion to Trees and Laila's story. I thought that the conclusion of their story worked out better than I feared at times during the story. I thought that Trees was much less alpha-jerk than I worried.
THE STORY: This is the conclusion of the cliffhanger from WICKED AS SEDUCTION and begins right where that book ends. Tessa is confronted by the man who raped her for years. She decides that she will do everything to protect Trees -- even surrender to the man she hates. At the same time, she must convince Trees to abandon his attempts to save her and thus make him hate her. But Trees is tasked to return Tessa and will do so no matter what.
OPINION: I enjoyed the story although it wasn't particularly deep or thoughtful. It is an action adventure with a man who thinks he was tricked by the woman he has come to care about and a woman who is determined to protect the man despite himself. If I don't look too deep into the story, I find it enjoyable. Indeed, I really love Trees who isn't nearly as terrible to Laila as I feared as I read the book. At the same time, choices that Laila made at times annoyed me because I didn't see the logic -- except to ratchet up the angst and drama between Laila and Trees.
The book nicely wraps up the story of the series so far -- although there will be more books in the series as the end discloses.
WORTH MENTIONING: This book did not resolve my concern about the severe sexual abuse that Laila endured in the first book. Everything was too neatly wrapped up and thus the abuse did not feel like it was addressed in any serious manner. That bothered me because it seemed more like a plot device than a serious issue.
CONNECTED BOOKS: WICKED AND FOREVER is the sixth book in the Wicked & Devoted series. It is also the second part of the duo about Trees and Laila. This book should only be read after WICKED AS SEDUCTION because this book assumes a reader has read that book. Wicked and Forever is the 2nd part of Trees’s and Laila’s story, and it’s different than part one. This one is filled with action from start to finish.
Still hunted by cartel bosses Victor Ramos and Geraldo Montilla, Laila is hiding at Trees’s house when Victor shows up looking to kill Trees. When he starts to burn the house down, Laila comes up with a plan to get Victor away and save Trees, but she’ll have to sacrifice herself. The book is an action-packed adventure moving from Florida, Louisiana, and Texas to Mexico and back. Laila tries to keep Trees away, she even makes him think she’s betrayed him. But Trees doesn’t accept her betrayal. When they’re finally back together, Trees takes her to his bdsm dungeon to make Laila tell the truth. If they can be honest, maybe there’s hood for their relationship. If they can be strong, maybe they can get rid of Ramos and Montilla and be safe. Read the book to find out what happens.
The narrative is good, there’s lots of action and steam. I like that Laila realizes her intelligence and strength and doesn’t just roll over and cry when things get tough. What I don’t really care for is the character of Trees. This is my own personal bias, but I don’t like that he’s a doomsday prepper - it makes him seem a little crazy like a conspiracy theorist. When he wants to know if Laila is being honest, he straps her to a table and tortures her sexually. I feel like there’s some - maybe unintended - misogyny in this book. When Trees asks a friend for advice, the friend says, “You’re going to have to probe her for answers—whether that’s with your words or your d*ck is up to you.” These sorts of phrases are scattered throughout the book, and it’s just not my cup of tea. Truly the only way to describe the conclusion of Laila and Tree’s story is epic. Although I had a feeling that it would be no other way.
Laila is One of those characters that you can’t help but to root for, be on her side and scream at the pages of the book to egg her on. She is brave and brilliant and strong in ways that some people I will never understand or have to be. Her dedication and loyalty to those she loves is unwavering. She has endured tremendous horrors and continues to put herself on the line for those that she loves. For the love she feel and knowing what will happen at the hands are the cartel she once again puts her life on the line so that this time not only her sister and nephew but the man she loves will be safe.
I knew Tree’s was an Alpha but just how alpha he is comes to the surface. A former elite soldier and super tech guy Trees it’s not what he appears on the outside. He knew when he found the woman that was going to change his life, the woman that he was going to live forever. And a woman that is seeing too many horrors and not enough love. Trees exhibit an amazing amount of patients and devotion to someone who is so scared. with all of his buttons being pushed, his woman putting her life on the line and a cartel drug lord who thinks he can have it all, Tree shows just what love can do.
Shayla Black delivers a thrilling and exciting conclusion to a very epic story with Wicked and Forever. The story is dangerous and emotional. The depth that someone would go to save someone and the horrors that people will do to get what they want. Trees and Laila don’t have an easy ride but in the end they found something worth living for. And found a way to make it a happily ever after.

But when he finds out she went willing, he’s absolutely devastated.
Trees vows to make her pay once he gets her back.
From the minute they met their road hasn’t been easy and now it’s that much worse.
I thought Laila was a strong, fierce determinate character.
Yeah not always making wise decisions but to her it was her standing up for herself, for her family and making her own choices.
Trees’ nature is one of protection and to shield.
He’s the one to go to battle not his woman.

This is the second part of a story, so you will absolutely have to start with book 1. It is also part of the Wicked & Devoted series, so best read after the earlier five stories!
Laila is reluctantly staying with Trees whilst the situation with the cartels can be resolved. She does not believe it will be resolved until the heads of it are dead and her nephew is no longer wanted. Her brain after so many years of hell cannot slow down and believe in anything really good - not long term at least. So even though she is genuinely falling in love with Trees, she is always mindful of her next escape; her next attempt to save her sister and nephew.
With this as a backdrop, Trees is on a mission to take out the threats, and also to develop his burgeoning relationship with Laila. The two are not always compatible.
This story beautifully interweaves the strength, loyalty and love that these two people have for others and their selflessness in providing protection. Inevitably they will clash, as their attempts are sometimes have incompatible outcomes. However misguided they both act from love and with Trees team supporting them all the way, one can only hope for them to get their chance to be happy together.
Fast paced, sexy and loving story - perfect resolution in my opinion, thank you Shayla Black.

You have to read the previous book since it's the beginning of Trees' and Laila's story. You won't be disappointed either.
This book picks up where book 1 leaves off. Laila is trying to figure out her own feelings after living a life of fear. Trees knows that Laila is so much more to him and he has to figure out if he can truly admit that.
Laila is again, such a strong character. She might be afraid, but she has a backbone of steel. She knows that in order for her and her family to be free she has to do unthinkable things and she wants to protect everyone she's come to love and with that, sometimes, a little stupidity comes along for the ride. Laila thinks that she's doing what is necessary though, so she plugs along.
Then you have Trees. He's not sure if Laila is trustworthy, but he knows what he feels in terms of lust. Trees will question himself, his feelings, Laila's worth and whether or not he's going a little crazy.
When the unthinkable happens and trust is tested, can Trees and Laila find their own path forward?
You will not be disappointed in Trees' story. It's fast paced, full of suspense and you'll be cheering the entire time.

WICKED AND FOREVER is the second book of Trees & Laila's story. It starts off right where the first one ended which of course was full on action right at the beginning. You really should read this whole series in order since there is a continues storyline that runs through all of the of the books.
Laila can’t believe the tyrant who held her captive for the majority of her life, has found her. When he threatens her bodyguard, Trees that she has fallen for she agrees to go with him without a fight. She realizes that unless she can figure a way to destroy the cartel that is behind him, she and Trees have no future together.
Forest “Trees” Scott abandons a mission to save Laila from the enemy. He is willing to move heaven and earth to get to her, but then is faced with the reality that Laila Torres left him of her own free will. He feels that she duped him but he is still going to track her down and punish her.
This one is so action packed and definitely on the edge of your seat during most of it. This one is more of the BDSM that I kinda like in a story like this one. I’m interested in reading Matt & Madison’s story, especially since they give you a little taste right at the end of this book.

Part Two of Trees and Laila's story! Remember these two- no? She's running from a drug cartel her sister was married into. And he works for a private company guarding her. Dude is immediately like she's mine. And she noticed (cough mmm hmm) and was like hell no and tries to escape him at every chance.
Fast forward to them being happy and together and then the cartel catches up and damnit. Who are these guys? But Trees has a sex dungeon?
Laila may have done some shady stuff and he's like taking her to the dungeon now (Googles how to create extra room in apartment).
This book is so much action you are just chasing everyone down and trying not to get shot or cut. You don't know who is betraying you and trying to spare you by looking like they don't care.
I'm always here for the epilogue and dang hooked me for the next book. I liked Matt.

Laila may have done some shady stuff and he's like taking her to the dungeon now (Googles how to create extra room in apartment).
This book is so much action you are just chasing everyone down and trying not to get shot or cut. You don't know who is betraying you and trying to spare you by looking like they don't care.
I'm always here for the epilogue and dang hooked me for the next book. I liked Matt.

Layla and Trees story continues. Victor invades Trees house and threatens to burn it down if she doesn’t come out. She will do whatever she can to keep her family, now including Trees. This book is so well written and such an excellent story, that I read it in just two sittings, broken up by my work day. There are som hairy moments, a lot of twists and turns, and it grabs your attention and holds it. Trees and Laila.. they’re both pretty awesome. I am not giving anything away, so I’ll just say I hope they’re together in the end because after all that happens, they deserve it.

You are one of my very favorites, and I try to be sure I read every book the day it’s released. Many of them I have both in kindle, and in audio. This is a 5 star book in a five star series.

This is a thrilling conclusion to Trees and Laila’s story that’s full of fast paced action, intense danger and sexy romance. That jaw dropping ending of the first part of this duet left questions as to what’s really going on with Laila. It appears she ran from Trees and he’s determined to find her, get answers and perhaps mete out a bit of punishment. What transpires is a heady reconnection between the two where Trees takes Laila in hand and then takes her heart. The sexy times are sizzling between these two with Laila’s feistiness and Trees dominance. Hot! Loads of emotion in this one as Laila’s family is front and center with a revenge plot in play. I love these hunky EM Security operatives with their loyalty and brotherhood. Every story is an outstanding romance suspense read with a fierce hero and a fantastic heroine with an exciting storyline that will have you on the edge of your seat. Not to be missed!

Trees and Laila Conclusion
This was the conclusion to Trees' and Laila's story. The previous book left us with a huge cliffhanger, so this book starts off with a bang! And the action just keeps going right until the end of the book. Laila continues to be brave, tenacious, and a master mind of tactics to help in every situation. Trees fights through a gun shot wound, and will do whatever it takes to get Laila back. He feels betrayed. But she is only doing what she needs to do to protect those she loves.
I rated this 4 stars because I enjoyed reading this book. It was an easy read, and the bad guy got what he deserved, and the good guys and gals got their HEA.
As good as I though Part 2 was, I enjoyed Part 1 of their story more than Part 2. So maybe Part 1 was 4+ stars and Part 2 was 4- stars. I'm just saying, it was a great story overall. Totally recommend!

Wicked and Forever is the second of a duet of books featuring Trees and Layla and book 6 in the ‘Wicked and Devoted’ series and sees the continuation and conclusion of Trees and Layla’s story. It starts exactly where part one’s cliffhanger ended. WOW! what a totally captivating and enthralling read from start to finish. A beautifully written story of suspense and drama, secrets and deception, action and intrigue, violence and vengeance, love and desire, a real rollercoaster of a ride! And after all the angst, a wonderful HEA!
Overall, an enjoyable duet of books from Ms Black that will keep you riveted. If you’re a fan of erotic thriller romance with a touch of BDSM then this series of books is definitely for you. I personally loved them. Highly recommended 5 star read.

From the first page, Wicked and Forever plunges you straight into non-stop action starting right were the first part of this duet ended. So if you haven't read Wicked as Seduction, you should! Laila is an incredibly strong woman who's lived her life by two principles: never rely on anyone else and always protect the ones you love. Not surprising then that when Trees' life is threatened, she decides to do everything in her power to protect him. Trees has been in the protecting business all his life. So having his woman throw herself in front of him doesn't sit well with him. Sparks and bullets fly, tensions are high, steam rises and when the dust settles, there is a sweet and well-deserved happy end. A great addition to the series!.
