On the night of their twenty-first birthday, Brooke Leighton's twin brother is mysteriously murdered in a back alley. The mystery of Bobby's death is never solved, which leads to her unquenchable thirst for justice and a rising career on the police force.

Seven years later, her birthday is still a constant source of discord for her, and no matter how hard she tries to celebrate, she often struggles to just get through the day, This year is no different when a ghost from her past crashes her party, sending her carefully reconstructed life into a tailspin and unearthing everything she's worked so hard to bury.

Her life is further complicated when she is assigned to a homicide investigation that mirrors her brother's murder. While examining the crime scene with her partner--and current love--Brooke hears a strange noise. Thinking it might be the suspect, she investigates, but what she initially thinks is a large dog turns out to be anything but. Unfortunately, Brooke does not escape this encounter unscathed, and she is left with more than just the physical scars to remind her of the night her life was left unknowingly and irreparably altered.

When the next full moon rises, an entirely new world opens up to her, unlocking the secrets behind the investigation and her brother's unsolved murder.

My Thoughts - 3.5 out of 5 Unicorns - I more than liked it!!!
***Received the ebook for an honest review

The cover is a mixed bag for me. I like the moon with the wolf shadow and the fonts used for the text; however, the model looks unhealthy, and it could be that’s the look that was intended. It is just not my style.

I definitely enjoyed reading this book. It is the first book in the series, and it is the first book by this author from what I have seen. I like the world created by A.D. I can definitely picture the book in my head as I was reading. For me, it was slow in some parts, but I have found this is common for me with a new series and new world.

I tend to like more action, but I think she set up a fabulous world and the series will continue to improve and be even more intriguing. This book sort of reminds me of Underworld meets your favorite detective show mixed in CSI moments. This is as close as I get to describing events in the book because I don’t want to ruin your adventure in reading :)

Brooke is an awesome character because she is so strong, but she has a history that keeps coming back so to speak.

This is not a world where everything is perfect and HEA, so if this is a problem for you, this book may not be for you. I recommend this book to werewolf fans who want something different and not so perfect. I’m definitely going to look into book 2 when it comes out to see what happens next :)

4.5 out of 5 stars!!

This book was amazing! I found myself not being able to put it down once I started. The main character Brooke is so well written. She is strong, driven, and so incredibly selfless. The relationships in the story will have you crying, giggling, and smiling like a love sick teenager from their pure honesty. The storyline moves along so that you are never bored or waiting for the next best thing to happen, yet it keeps a realness to it that doesn't leave you thinking only such things could happen in books.

If you are a fan of paranormal I would definitely recommend this book. It has a way of taking you into a new world while somehow tying it into our reality. It will make you glad someone finally took the time to write a story that doesn't just skip from human to paranormal, and leave you in the dust wondering how it's supposed to be believable.
I can't wait for the next installment, and am so glad to have been given the chance to review this wonderful book.

When I began this book, I wanted to like it. I really did. Instead, I loved it and read it in two nights. It was hard to put down for even that long.

A difficulty of supernatural novels lies in how effective the author can be at tying those elements into the "real world" he or she creates. Ryan is able to do this with ease. No cheesy, eye-roll-inducing scenes in an attempt to get to a necessary detail. Ryan connects these other-worldly elements to our own as if she has been doing this her entire life, even though this is her first novel.

The novel's pace is steady throughout, taking the reader through a path of highs and lows with the same attention to detail because the author actually recognizes that each scene works together to create the entire piece.

Congrats to the author on a great first novel. I can't wait for the next one.

This book was very well written. If you are an adult who enjoys books about the paranormal this is for you. I was sucked in before even ending Chapter One and found it was very difficult to put it down! I can't wait until book 2!

Thought this book was amazing. It pulled you in with Curiosity. But we also spent time to allow you to get to know the characters before throwing you into all the action.

I was given a copy of Blood Moon for a honest review. What a great book. Seven years ago Bobby his twin sister, Brooke and her finance, Nick were celebrating their twenty first birthday. Bobby is found murdered in the alley. Nick tells her he has to get away and leaves her dealing with her twin's death. Seven years later someone is killing people in the same way Bobby was killed. While at a murder scene Brooke is bitten by a wolf. Nick returns and tells Brooke that he MUST speak with her. Nick finds her as she changes into her wolf. The vampire that killed Bobby is after her and others are killed protecting her. She can't tell her parents that she is a werewolf. She tells them she is going to Canada with Nick to get away and figure out her life. A D Ryan is a great story teller. Her description of the characters, events and scenes is so vivid that you are part of the story. I can't wait to read Wolf Moon book 2.

I was fortunate enough to have read this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was Fantastic!!! The main character, Brooke, is a no nonsense police detective with a soft heart and a strong love for her family and friends. The story takes place in the "human world" with Brooke trying to find out what happened to her brother. The way the author blended the "Human world" and the paranormal world was believable. I found myself sneaking away to read it. I couldn't put it down. As I got into the story, I found myself laughing, crying and cheering along with the characters. This is a book that i could sink my teeth into. If you are looking for something new in the Paranormal genre than I would highly recommend this book!! I can't wait for the release of her next book. January 2015 seems so far away to meet up with Brooke again!

While the basic premise was interesting and Ryan did put a slightly new spin on an old favorite, for most of the book I felt like I was trapped inside the main characters head. The story focused too much on what she was thinking instead of what she was doing. I suspect this might be a result of the first person perspective (that can be tough to pull off). Still, it might have been okay, if I had been able to share in the characters emotions through the process, but I was pretty much just witnessing a parade of thoughts through most of it. I felt like a detached observer in the main character's mind instead of someone experiencing and feeling the story through her.

I really think this story would benefit from a bit more "show" and a bit less "tell."

I was gifted this book for an honest review by author A.D. Ryan. This is book 1 of The Blood Moon Trilogy by the author.

Brooke has hated her birthday for the past 7 years since her brothers murder and now there are a couple homicides that is just like his murder. Things get more complicated when her ex-boyfriend shows back up in her life and now her life is changing and not for the good.

I really enjoyed this book because of the character Brooke and how she interacted with the other characters. The author wrote this book with a very smooth flow to it.

This book is for any paranormal romance book reader who also likes to have a little murder mystery in it.

I liked this book. There are several twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you like suspense &&/or paranormal stories...I would HIGHLY recommend this book! I would suggest that you grab a drink and a snack as you will not want to put this down.

The writer is able to describe the scene to the point of it felt almost as if I was there. I wish the best for Brooke and am curious as to what the next part of the trilogy will bring for her.

I must admit that paranormal (werewolf, vampire type) books are normally NOT my thing. Despite my usual distaste for them I continued and wasn't unhappy with this book at all! It didn't completely suck me in but I definitely got into the characters more in books 2 and 3! I will leave reviews for those as well but bottom line, don't let the a vampire/werewolf thing deter you if you're like me. Great little series!! A mix of mystery, crime and the paranormal for adults :)

I love this women's writing! I've had the privilege of being indulged with her twisted tails for some time now. She has a great imagination and was the first author to make me speechless after reading one of her stories.

This story is an easy read and one that you won't be able to put down until you're finished.

A great story

Sorry to say, each minute did not matter I wish it hurried a bit . Got a tiny bit tedious but a smashing story a fabulous story line. Well written for scope and interest but a bit repetitive . I am already eager for the next installment . Tighten up your story line but please keep up the good story . Thanks.
