Van Fleur is a hottie with red hair and freckles. I want to kiss every freckle and hold that red hair in my fist. Unfortunately, she hates jocks and, more specifically, me but I’ve got a plan to make her fall in love. I need a fake girlfriend to fend off the other girls at school so I can spend time focusing on winning the State title. It’s a long shot but sometimes in relationships, like football, you have to throw that Hail Mary pass.
Fleur Van is a hottie with broad shoulders and a wicked grin. Every girl wants to kiss that grin and hold onto those broad shoulders. For some reason, he keeps following me around. He says that he needs a fake girlfriend to fend off the other girls. I think it’s a lie, but I’m willing to go along with it. It’s my senior year and I deserve to have a little fun. I know nothing will come of it because relationships aren’t like football where one dominant player can make you a winner. Instead, it takes two and I know my heart is the only one on the line.
This was cute, and I enjoyed it more than the first two books in this series.
I love Van and his possessiveness; he really knows how to get what he wants. As for Fleur, it took me awhile to warm up to her character; she was snippy and antagonistic with Van in the beginning. She has issues and is flighty, thanks to her mom and her revolving door of boyfriends. Anyway, I did end up liking her eventually. She just didn't know how to receive love and affection, and it shows a lot. But Van showed he's all in with her and proved it to her time and time again, and his family's acceptance warms and softens Fleur's heart. 💖
Anyway, I loved it and the epilogue. Glad to see the closure for all the characters in this series. I just wish there was a sweet ending for Sadie's dad; he's the seventh wheel in this family. I would've wanted for him to find someone else too. 🥹
PS. The book cover is soooo cute 🤭

Safe DUAL VIRGINS! *booty shake* Quote (Fleurs status), "Sadly, my mother has made me fear casual sex. Hence why I’m still a virgin." end quote Quote (Van's status), "All my life, I’ve been passionate about things—football, mostly. Girls never interested me, to the point that my dad, who is gay, wondered if I was, too. But no one moved me, not like football, not like my family. It made sense to me to be focused on Fleur." end quote They know they are each others one and only (my FAVORITE part about DV). He knows since he felt himself breaching her virginity when they have sex and she knows as well accepting the truth Van tells her. She says this in her inner monologue: Quote, "I take more of him into my mouth. My eyes stay trained on his face, relishing the pleasure I see there. Eating up the fact that I’m the only girl that will ever put that on his face." end quote No cheating Unwanted OM (Van wards them off, but there is a serious matter with her mother's boyfriend trying to assault her. Nothing happened but the asshole did try so this is a serious part of the story.) Unwanted OW (Van never wanted anything to do with women, he does not want the attention and he makes that clear to all!) No separation No gross condom use No stupid third act break up Push from h, (but Van just pulls her closer the more she pulls away) High school football/ fake dating trope (not fake for Van, he tells her it is a way to ward off the attention of girls, and in exchange he gives her gossip since she is nosy and is part of the school newspaper. She doesn't know he was genuine from the start.) HEA
This is the long long LONG awaited story of Fleurs a sweet but nosy high school student in a bad family situation, who caught the attention of Van a high school football player who has the hots for her since he saw her, but glared at her and she mistakenly thought he hated her. She has an aversion to football players and swears to never become easy like her mother. Both of them are seniors and 18, and Van demands to fake date Fleurs to ward off unwanted female attention, and in exchange he provides her gossip. She accepts, but little does she know that Van NEVER planned on their relationship being fake. He is such a monk in fact, that in school there were rumors of him getting with his sister Sadie (heroine from book 2), because he was never interested in any of the girls. (EWW first off, and secondly, high school can be so cruel!) He is serious about shooing away girls attention he hates, but the reason was that Fleurs caught his eye since they first locked eyes, and this was his way of putting his foot in the door and breaking down her walls. The banter between them is funny but there are serious moments of them opening their hearts and secrets to each other, and that part was very touching.
Fleurs is a sweet heroine, but Van is a standout! I love him! He is so alpha, so possessive, so OTT, so growly, so all in for his Fleurs, and I love how he openly shows everyone she is his with a big grin on his face. He is so in love and she of course thinks this is fake, but a part of her feels differently but is afraid of having her heart broken. It took her a while to see the real Van and to see how much he loves her, and to accept that none of this was fake, it was true love from the start. This was a pleasant read, and very much satisfied my curiosity on this sweet couple. Of course series of events unfold, we also have our other two couples making appearances in this trilogy, and I am glad to see Van and his bio dad (hero from the first book) share a long father and son hug. It felt healing as it was very much needed.
Of course my favorite part is when Van is in bed with Fleurs and show her his bruises from getting tackled during the game and she offers to kiss it better, and they have this exchange: My favorite quote, “If I kiss it, will it make it better?” “Don’t know,” I answer honestly. “I’ve never been kissed there before.” “Never?” “Nope.” Her hand stops. “Why not? Or maybe better question, why me?” "Why not you,"..... “You know that’s not what I mean.” She wrinkles her nose. “You’re hot and smart and funny. Why not you?” “Seems like you could have so many others.” “The others aren’t you.” end quote
Swoon..I enjoyed it and I do recommend it! It was a pleasant read and I loved our couple. I am so glad that Ella Goode is back giving us more DV goodness, I missed her this year and I am so thrilled that she is back and writing again! I cannot wait for more Dual V card goodness from her! We missed you Ella welcome back! Happy reading everyone!
3rd in the series I enjoyed this one as much as the second one.
This is the Vans book He is so cheeky with the h h is a little skittish but he knows how to handle that and won’t let anything stop him. Unlike the second book we do get their first sexy time.
DUEL VIRGINS- although I noticed the author isn’t coming out right and saying it anymore. It’s heavily hinted at
No condoms Not talks of safety cause they are both V She’s on BC No real OW/OM drama
'Dondequiera que vayas, allí estoy yo. Soy tu hogar y tú eres el mío.'

Keeping Secrets de Ella Goode Serie Secrets libro 3
Argumento:
Van
This book is a standalone in what I'm calling the Secrets Series. You don't have to read the previous books in order to enjoy this one, but I do recommend it.
I love that these books are romances that also include family dynamics and friendships. Ella Goode packs a lot into this shorter story, yet it feels so complete and not rushed at all. The two main characters aren't perfect and both have some issues they're dealing with at home. I love how supportive Van is in regards to Fleur. She not only has trust issues, but I felt that affected her confidence as well. Van was just so solid. I also loved how supportive Van's family and friends were to both of them. Even tertiary characters were fleshed out nicely.
This is a safe read that does include some explicit language. There is some explicit relationship scenes later on in the book, but only after the relationship is established. I do feel that there should be a trigger warning for the attempted SA of a main character. It's not long or detailed, but it is included.
I love this whole series and definitely recommend it. I'm really hoping to get Smurf's romance next. Lol, and if that sentence just intrigued you, read this book because I promise you won't be disappointed.
I dunno.......novellas usually don't get more than a three star for me because there's not enough cliterature meat to bite into you know?
Fleur is a bit hostile, standoffish character who doesn't know how to accept that a guy is into her. H makes her think he needs a fake girlfriend and that's what she thinks for almost 60-70% of the book but H doesn't want her running so he doesn't tell her that he's all in and nothing is fake.
The first book is probably needed since its a bit convoluted with who is who. Fischl is Hs mom and Cooper is his real dad but Sebastian is the gay friend of Fiscal and has a daughter Sadie that his girl didn't want and Duncan is the nephew of Cooper but his mother died so Cooper raised him as his own so dunc and H are really cousins. Got it? 😂😂😂 anyway!
h is a bit standoffish because her mother has boyfriends going through a revolving door and the latest one wants h to himself and tries to smexxually assault her.
It was ok 🤷🤷 nothing great but not bad either.
I wish we could get a happy ever after for Sebastian but I have never read a gay MM Elle Goode book so......🤔🤔

I really needed the lightness and loyalty of these characters. It was short but sweet with dual virgins and a super possessive MMC who protects his woman at every stage.
That's pretty standard for this author but the winning part was how devoted he was to her. He didn't just not notice OW but actively chased them away. When he deleted the Pic one took with him and made sure to empty from the trash folder too??? Mother-effing swoon! I legit giggled at that. He was so tuned into FMC's feelings that he made sure she felt safe with him.
I guess I've just read too many stories lately where there is OW angst or an oblivious MMC whose heart is in the right place but this guy?? He beat them all out of the water by protecting her from potential pain or jealousy because he wanted her to feel safe enough to trust him. Now THAT is a true protector.
I have been anxiously awaiting for Fleur and Van's story and it didn't disappoint! Fleur's walls have been sky high for a while. Van is determined to get behind them, he won't settle for less. He has been into her from the moment they met. He just knew he had to work for her heart. Fleur doesn't want to be attracted to him but she just can't help herself. His bargain that she pretend to be his girlfriend to keep the other girls off him and he would provide her with juicy insider info about their schoolmates. It was just a rouse but it enabled him to spend time with her. They are just so perfect together, I loved the energy between them. Enjoyed every minute I spent with them! That said, I'm desperately hoping that we will get Van's teammate and the teacher's story, please, please, please!
Cute and sweet wrap up to this series. The entire series is insta-love/ love at first sight/ soul-mates, and this book is no different. Van knows INSTANTLY that Fleur is his OTL but knows she will run from him if he comes on too strong. He concocts a scheme to ask her to be his “fake” girlfriend so he can focus on football and not all the other girls coming on to him. It doesn’t take long before Van lets the cat out of the bag and confesses to Fleur that she is “it” for him.
A lot of immature/ high school/ teenage drama including from the MC, which was annoying. It takes Van way too long to embrace his new family (bio-dad & bio-cousin). But that’s how the whole series was; so I guess it was okay.
Oh, yay, I'm so glad we have a new book by Ella Goode. I love her stories. This is a continuation from a series and can be read as a standalone. You should read the other books just because they are great and enjoyable.
In this book, we get Van and Fleur (love her name). Van is a sweet, good possessive young man that falls quickly for her. Fleur has had a not great go of things and always keeps her walls up. This is a young couple so be aware of that. If I wasn't so slammed at work, I would have finished this in a day. I can't wait to see who we get next.
Cute and sweet wrap up to this series. The entire series is insta-love/ love at first sight/ soul-mates, and this book is no different. Van knows INSTANTLY that Fleur is his one true love but knows she will run from him if he comes on too strong.
He concocts a scheme to ask her to be his “fake” girlfriend so he can focus on football and not all the other girls coming on to him. It doesn’t take long before Van lets the cat out of the bag and confesses to Fleur that she is “it” for him.
A lot of immature/ high school/ teenage drama including from the MC, which was annoying but to be expected since it's a high school romance.
-dual POV -insta love/lust -both are 18 y/o -unwanted attention from ow -she's a virgin, I think he was also a virgin -no separation -fake dating -unwanted attention from om - the h's mom's boyfriend tried to sexually assault her but the hero saved her -she pushed him away -I found the heroine a bit annoying -possessive jealous -immature- hero -I would've liked to know what happened with Sebastian, he was a great secondary character -the long awaited conversation between Van (H) and Cooper (real dad) where they finally settle their differences was so anticlimactic -low steam -epilogue: "many" years later - married with 4 kids and another on the way
Stop using sexual assault as a plot device. It’s not a fun “hero” moment for the MMC and no one would be wanting to immediately have sex after something like that (except potentially as a trauma response).
People marking this as “safe” should really reevaluate their rating- if the only requirement for it to be safe is the two MCs ending up together, there’s a problem. This could easily not feel like a safe story for many readers, especially a true YA audience.
I was so happy to finally get Van and Fleur’s story. And as usual … Ella Goode did not disappoint. Fleur was strong and really marched to her own drum. I loved that in a girl her age. She didn’t need to do anything outrageous to get Van’s attention. She just had to be herself and he was all in. Van was equal parts sweet abs possessive, in the very best way. Reading this one just made me happy. And I loved seeing the previous couples all together as one big happy family.
This was my favorite of all the three books in this series! The entire book was so addicting to read, and I couldn’t get enough of Van and Fleur. It was so fun seeing him be insane over Fluer while she was just in denial that he was actually falling in love with her. They were my favorite couple, and I wouldn’t say no to another book with them or extended epilogues of the whole family happy together. You have a winner here Ella!
van kept being insufferable and nobody would just give him a REAL heads up! i still felt sorry for his dad that had wanted a real relationship with him and just kept being put aside and being called “bio dad” until 2 pages left in the book! then suddenly on the last page he says “i love you”??? not “sorry” or whatever?? well, i would have loved this book and series if not for van, sorry but he was just the worst.
I see this authors name and I’m instantly one-clicking. Ella reminds me why I love thin genre. What she packs into a story ticks all the boxes. No pointless drama, cheating or over the top storyline’s. She writes fabulous romance effortlessly.
Van and Fleur are perfect for each other. Van is headstrong and falls instantly for Fleur, now he just needs to convince her of that. Fleur use to people not caring about her. She learned that at a young age. Van refuses to give up on Fleur and will spend a lifetime chasing her, because she is worth it. Now he just needs to convince her that he is in this for life.
This could easily have been a three star story, but I really could have done without the bit of the high school BOY trying to get in the pants of a teacher and the teacher - a fully grown adult - actually entertaining the boy feelings. Completely glossed over how inappropriate and gross the actions were and so unnecessary to the story. Yuck.
Although high school romances don’t really interest me, I still had to read the newest story by Ella Goode and I gotta tell you it did not disappoint! I greatly enjoyed Van and Fleur! He’s her knight in shining armor - for real!!!
Van has wanted Fleur from the moment he laid eyes on her but she saw him scowling at her and thought he didn't like her. Van's got to come up with a way to get Fleur to realize they are meant for one another!
Good story. Wish it wasn’t YA. That’s my fault though for going in blind. His family was really confusing and who lets their kids sneak around to have sex and let their son bring a girl home and allow them to have sex too!

- super cute & safe read - obsessed with the book cover! - i jumped into this book (which is 3rd in the series) without reading the first two. i would say it definitely felt like i missed context of the family dynamic but i read for the H/h and that part was no issues!
Van es el jugador de fútbol americano popular, pero siempre ha protegido a su hermana sadie. Elabora un plan para seguir protegiendo y eso incluye a Fleur con un noviazgo falso entre los dos Me encanto ❤️
