Whil Bob and Jimmy have made it back to Kentucky, their journey is anything but over. With Holly and Clint captured by an egotistical maniac, they must rally the help of their family and friends to rescue their loved ones and reunite once and for all in Book 6 of Shattered Dawn.
The #1 best-selling and most prolific post-apocalyptic author Mike Kraus - working with best-selling author Kenny Soward - brings a new gripping tale of destruction, survival and humanity like no one else can.
A father and son trip to a concert in Florida turns into a hellscape when people start dying - in violent fashion - all around them. Barely escaping from the chaos, they are soon surrounded by death and destruction, with every route home blocked by new challenges.
Back home in Kentucky, the same scenes play out, revealing that the mysterious deaths are not localized, but are part of a larger disaster that has spread across the continental United States in a systematic fashion.
With food and water supplies being suspected as the chief cause of the deaths, the millions who have died in the first few hours are soon joined by hundreds of millions more, some succumbing to the illness while even more die from thirst and starvation.
As threats close in on the survivors of this disaster, one truth becomes only the bravest and most tenacious will survive.

Welcome to my little space out on the web. I'm Kenny Soward, and I'm an author, musician, and once IT guy. I write books in many sub-genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy, including post-apocalyptic, military science fiction, epic fantasy, and horror. I'm influenced by authors such as Stephen King, George R. R. Martin, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, Mark Lawrence, Dan Simmons, Robin Hobb, Robert McCammon, Larry Correia, and Mike Kraus.
I love all kinds of movies and shows from Battle Star Galactica (reboot) to the Walking Dead. There's nothing I won't try.
I grew up in Kentucky in a small suburb just south of Cincinnati, Ohio, listening to hard rock and playing outdoors. In those quiet 1970's streets, I jumped bikes, played Nerf football, and came away with many scars.
My grandfather and many of my uncles and cousins served in the United States Military, and my father was a Kentucky State Trooper. Their efforts taught me the meaning of sacrifice and gratitude. I've always had an avid curiosity about the world around me, and I hope my enthusiasm for life carries over into my stories, even the dark ones.
This ends what up until the last chapter has been a pretty good series. We did get our expected climactic battle, which was exciting, but given the overwhelming numbers and resources that were on Clay's side, the outcome was not realistic. Had this ended with that it would have been a solid 4.5 stars, but the last chapter was a huge disappointment. I did like seeing where things were nine years on, but after spending the series hinting at a coordinated attack by foreign/domestic agents that affected the water and food supply, we never get to find out what happened. Was the whole world affected? There was this build-up to something big at Fort Knox and we never find out what happened. Clay had 1000 people plus at his camp and we never find out what became of the camp after the looting and fleeing. We never find out anything about the government reforming. It felt like being cheated out of the big reveal after so many teasers and spoiled a series for me.
Although this riveting dystopian thriller has covered only two weeks, the dynamics amid the destructive and deadly events in Kenny Soward and Mike Kraus's Surviving Dawn, absolutely take your breath away, as the end of this amazing epic arrives.
With Holly Summers and her Dad Clint taken prisoner desperate times call for desperate measures - and in some cases extreme ones. But will that bring neighbours and frenemies together? And how will things turn out, far down the line?
Why not get the whole 6 book series of the Shattered Dawn saga today, to enjoy a totally satisfying reading experience?
I'm already getting a tabanca (nostalgia) as we say here. I just enjoyed this family saga. The dangerous people. The hard turns. The constitution of Bob and Jimmy as they throd through the wastelands just to get home. The finale is so precious. It took me inside of the landscape, feeling every bit a part of the plot. It is really a great read.
Really enjoyed this series. Sometimes it got pretty violent but it's so nice to read a series that doesn't have cursing and sex. I hope and pray that things never get that bad but I know it could. Highly recommended. ,.
This is a series of stories It gives reader Good examples Of how to be A good neighbor To be a detriment to society. The use of wholesome language Was reassuring That I wish there was a little more Information on the source of the problem.
Getting back home is one thing, but danger still exists. A maniac is on the loose and people are not safe. Will they be able to get away in time. Suspenseful and intriguing, well written as always.
Such a satisfying novel. The good does well. The bad end! But this story says what happens after the end. Such a satisfying conclusion to a 6 book story.
