I received this book free as part of a promotional drawing. I found this book to be a big help for financial stewardship in giving and in always seeking God’s guidance in my financial life.
Perhaps the most important book to read this year. To align oneself with the biblical principle, will lead to economic freedom, strong financial policies and strategies. I am grateful that you penned this book Seth. I am realigned and delight in my Christ.May Thank you
An awesome read on tapping into the well spring of wisdom regarding financial education. The author does an excellent job navigating through the complications of money & breaks it down in simple ways.
This book was refreshing. I did not think I would ever say that about a book regarding finances. I hate talking about money and the Bible. It's always the same; give more, trust God, here are the same 12 Bible verses... blah, blah, blah. They always make me feel like a jerk. Seth doesn't make me feel like a jerk. This book is about spiritual formation first, and finances second; meaning, it is abundantly clear that more than anything, Seth wants you to come away from his book knowing more of God than anything else. Your finances; the things God has entrusted to you are important, but most of all Seth invites the reader to simply reflect on things that matter most to God, and this isn't always about our bank account. There were delightful reflections of verses I did not expect to see in such a book, and very practical ways to improve your financial situation without guilt-tripping you into more and more giving. In nearly each chapter, Seth provides a parable or practical story that paint a vivid picture of what could be, and a glimpse of the good life that I believe God desires for each and every one. I found that I really looked forward to seeing what new practical story he would produce next. Lastly, I appreciated that the chapters were less than 20 pages, digestible, reflective, and didn't beat me over the head with passages I've heard a million times. Seth does a masterful job of laying out a Biblical Path to Financial Freedom that every disciple would benefit from perusing, and a journey they would be grateful to have taken.
Reading this book really made me slow down and think about how I’ve been handling my finances — not just in a practical sense, but in a spiritual one. What I appreciated most is that it doesn’t just give you rules or formulas. Instead, it invites you to reflect on your relationship with money, and how that connects back to God’s Word.
The writing feels approachable, and I didn’t feel judged while reading it. Instead, I felt guided, almost like having a conversation with someone reminding me that financial freedom isn’t only about numbers — it’s about stewardship, priorities, and trusting God with what He’s already given me.
It’s not a deep dive into technical money strategies like investing or taxes, but it gives a solid foundation. For me, it was more about heart posture and mindset. The reflective questions really made me look at how I spend, save, and give — and how those choices reflect what I value.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 stars) — A thoughtful, encouraging guide that reminded me financial freedom is more about alignment with God than chasing wealth.
I highly recommend this book! What stood out to me the most were the parables and stories that teach financial concepts. Each chapter uses these engaging stories to bring complex ideas to life, making them easy to understand and apply. Through these relatable scenarios, the book bridges timeless biblical teachings with the complexities of today’s financial world.
The scripture-based practical advice provided clear, actionable steps for budgeting, investing, and managing money, all aligned with Christian values. This combination of storytelling and practical guidance enriched my spiritual life and helped align my financial practices with God’s will.
The focus on eternal values shifted my view from short-term financial goals to considering the long-term, eternal impact of my decisions. This book is more than just a financial guide; it’s a journey towards spiritual and financial growth.
The Biblical Path to Financial Freedom taught me to see my finances as tools to serve God’s kingdom, fostering a life of greater spiritual depth and fulfillment. Whether you’re struggling with debt, looking to invest wisely, or seeking a God-centered approach to your finances, this book offers valuable insights and practical steps to guide you on your journey.
This book challenged my perspective on finances while helping me to grow as a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ and truly understand how we can use our finances and talents to further the Kingdom of God. I plan to study this book further with my next small group as I feel strongly that it will help to grow mature disciples in Christ especially in an area that isn’t widely studied but is imperative for our spiritual development.
I'm probably the wrong audience for this one. While I accept it may be sound advice for some, and it is good advice in context. It just didn't really match mine. As one who has had financial struggles due to decisions of faith, made as a teenager, which led me to live by faith across the world and live among those who look to God to provide daily bread in a more literal sense (just like manna).
I grew up with stories of George Muller and Brother Andrew. The Bible has other stories where poverty strikes regardless of stewardship (e.g. Job or Ruth) and this has in part been something of my story. I do wonder if God does place people in challenging situations as part of some wider picture. This isn't to say we shouldn't steward, but I wonder what my life would have looked like if I followed the advice?
The Biblical Path to Financial Freedom is a triumph of educating and guiding us on managing finances as a joyous Christian discipline.
If Christian writers George McDonald, Oswald Chambers, G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, and Lauren Daigle were to collaborate on writing a similar book, they might come close to creating the masterpiece author Seth Jones achieved.
The reader is given comparisons of parables and current life stories, with excellent application elements, to profoundly desire living in an illuminative and intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior. This book is a gift of spiritual discipline, joy, peace, and love to share with those that God has come into our lives.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"The Biblical Path to Financial Freedom" by Seth Jones falls short in delivering practical financial advice. While the intention to align finances with biblical principles is commendable, the book is heavy on scripture but light on actionable steps. The guidance provided is often vague and overly simplistic, lacking the depth needed for real-world financial management. It feels more like a collection of sermons than a useful financial guide. Additionally, the constant moralizing tone can be off-putting, making it difficult to extract any practical value. This book might resonate with those seeking spiritual comfort, but for anyone looking for solid financial advice, it misses the mark.
3.5-3.75 Stars 3-3.25 Stars for the financial plan outline, suggestions, and details 4-4.25 Stars for the spiritual guidance and the devotional-style correlations between The Bible and financial choices This book wasn't what I expected, but it is still a good read. Instead of a detailed financial guidebook, this work felt more like a devotional that highlights and illustrates points from Bible verses and stories that are connected to financial decisions (and the author did an excellent job of incorporating appropriate verses, parables, and modern interpretations of these stories).
What I love about this book is that it starts with the WHY before it gets onto the HOW. The WHY gives you a purpose for having a financial plan. Without a purpose you will quickly lose your motivation to stay the course. I would not have believed a financial book could be such a page turner with one exciting real world example after another. I love the thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter as they will call you to evaluate your motives, your objectives and your plan. This is a great book for a small group study, a gift for a graduating senior or newly wed
More than the traditional book on logistics of financial planning and investing. The spiritual approach to financial freedom was a hot take on a relatively boring topic. My takeaway after reading this book “for the love of money is the root of all kinds of evils” Timothy 6:10
This book is not just a financial guide but a spiritual journey that inspires and empowers. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking financial peace and freedom in a way that honors God.
