Overall, this Haxan tale is alright, though nothing mind blowing.

This story allows readers of Haxan to see where certain characters have gone, touching on their lives and the events that are going on after the novel. The supernatural elements are handled well, and are most certainly present, unlike the original novel. Hoover weaves the story of a haunting extremely well, and puts in enough of a mystery to have the reader hunting for clues among the protagonist's journey.

However, the final confrontation seems almost too easy and though it's nice to see the protagonist engage in something weird (as this is a weird western), it feels out of place next to the original source material, though as mentioned, it does a good job enhancing it.

In the end, this is a nice short story. Not as good as Hoover's other two, but nice all in all and worth the read.
