Bounty hunter Grace deHaviland’s latest case involves a young Hispanic man named Rico Sanchez who’s jumped bail after a simple DWI and minor weapons possession arrest. It should have been a simple case, but as Grace digs deeper, she discovers there is greater interest in this young man than the charges warrant. Drawn into a complex, joint federal and state investigation involving organized gun-runners, the U.S. Marshals Service, the ATF, and multiple murders, Grace soon finds she and her best friend, sheriff’s deputy Suzie Jensen, must do what the feds and her friend, BCI agent Eugene Booker, won’t or can’t, if they are to find Sanchez before time runs out…for him and for them.

Although I really enjoyed this story, I was disappointed in the development of the main character. She is touted as being a really bad ass chick, but she makes some of the most amateurish of mistakes, including letting a suspect get her gun out of her pocket and not knowing how to street fight. She seems hesitant at the most inopportune times and the bedroom scenes are simply skipped over. Still, it's cleanly edited and the writing style flows. An entertaining read with lots of promise.
Good series, entertaining, of how she tries to be tough, well she is a bounty hunter. Trying to find Rico, she gets more than she bargained for. With the help of the sheriff, they are dealing with gun runners, murder, and plenty of action. The series is good, skip the sex scenes.
So the main character is a successful bounty hunter. Lives very comfortably. Has a workout area in her loft. Yet she’s chasing a $1000 bail? She’s overpowered Not once but twice? Really? At least when Stephanie Plum does it there’s humor. This was simply unreal.
