Basic starter guide to Cuddle Unit 5 (CU 5) thus if you have a basic grasp of the model previously you won't find too much new information to get even more out of your CU 5(s).
The Cat Operator's Manual provides the unit's attendant or guardian (whatever you may want to call yourself) with lots of warnings, tips on upkeep and some insight into behaviors that may seem a bit odd. Unfortunately since CU 5 are personality-based and usually include their own eccentricity glitches, users will find some singular odd programming not mentioned or that their own CU 5 may not participate in discussed protocols.
Readers will find that although the guide includes no colored photographs, there are plenty of basic graphics included for help of those who are more visually inclined. These graphics include some diagram-based graphics such as naming important components that form the CU 5.
All in all decent, easy-to-understand and fast for a reader needing a unit read unless you don't like the portrayal of said unit as a machine.

This is the cat owners' manual I didn't know I needed! I happen to be the caretaker for two of the Cuddle Unit 5 models and the information contained within is remarkably accurate to my personal experience. While I don't know that I would refer to the book regularly, it was an entertaining read.

If you are new to cat ownership, you could use a copy of the rule book. And now there’s one available for you. The Cat Operator’s Manual will offer you all the instructions you need to get the most from your Cuddle Unit 5. This manual explains all the features and includes several warnings for keeping your Cuddle Unit 5 at an optimal level.
There are some things you need to understand about your Cuddle Unit 5, like the fact that they are a tripping hazard. The more bags you are carrying, the more they will wind around your legs. causing the potential for tripping. This can also occur while you are in the kitchen preparing a meal. But this is by far the only potential danger your Cuddle Unit 5 poses, for your Unit has many sharp edges, and they are not afraid to swipe or bite to get their point across. The Cuddle Unit 5, while adorable, is a furry hunter and will attack small rodents, bugs, leaves, human appendages, catnip mouses, string and just about anything it wishes if provoked.
This manual includes chapters on such important Cuddle Unit 5 features as the startup chime, toe beans, making biscuits, standby mode, zoomies, solar charging, protest poo, self-cleaning mode, and fur decontamination. There is information about the window surveillance protocol, and the all-important definition of an empty food bowl (if you can see any of the porcelain at the bottom of the bowl, it’s empty and should be filled immediately). It is not recommended that you acquire another, smaller Cuddle Unit 5 to “keep it company.” The Cuddle Unit 5 is not lonely and could potentially leave you if it wants to. The Cuddle Unit 5 is cute and has options.
But you can learn to keep your Cuddle Unit 5 happy with small amounts of cheese and an understanding of boundaries, with slow blinks and fresh meowie wowwie (aka catnip), fresh shower water to drink and boxes to sleep in. Keeping the Cuddle Unit 5 happy will help you avoid the Sharp Embrace and get more of the healing purrs. The better you understand the relationship, the more joy you will get by being around a Cuddle Unit 5.

As the name implies, The Cat Operator’s Manual is a humorous, yet still informative, information manual about your feline companion, otherwise known as the Cuddle Unit 5™. Its format truly gives the feel of an operator’s manual, covering a wide range of topics around your cat’s operating system, behavior, and troubleshooting common problems.
While this book definitely has a broad scope rather than covering any one topic in any real depth, it delivers some great practical advice while also delivering some laughs. In that sense, I think of it as more of a gift book, or leaning more toward a humor book, as opposed to a reference book. While you will see the classic fodder for cat humor in here (the zoomies, knocking stuff off tables, etc.), there are also several fresh jokes in here, too. I’m sure other cat lovers will be delighted.
I also enjoyed the art style. It’s simple, colorful, and bright, and all of the graphics contribute to the feeling of the book being an operator’s manual. There was also a lot of variety in the graphics, which kept everything visually engaging, even when there was a lot of text.
I will say, I know the author noted that they had veterinarians review the text before sending it to the publishers, but I didn’t love the part about offering your cat a morsel of human food while you are cooking. Some foods can be toxic to cats, but the author makes no note or warning to readers to check prior to feeding their pets something outside of their typical diet. (Maybe I missed it?) I would like to see something like that added, perhaps with a bright graphic, or otherwise just to have that subject avoided.
Still, overall this book is a fun gift for cat lovers. I would still probably recommend it, just with that caveat. Like I said before, this definitely leans more toward a coffee table/gift book, and it would be something I would give to someone who perhaps just adopted a new Cuddle Unit 5™.

(Warning: you should not try to tickle a Cuddle Unit 5 due to the chance they will unleash The Sharp Embrace on your fingers/hands) The part where they label specific toe beans and named them after different beans, like coffee, mung, and soy beans. As an attendant of 4 Cuddle Unit 5’s, this made me think of them every step of the way, including them being tripping hazards, constantly into everything and their incessant food demanding cortexes.
It was very informative. Not only did I pick up new words such as ‘entomophagy’ and ‘crepuscular’ but found some extremely helpful advice for administering medication. We have had to give our Cuddle Unit 5’s medication multiple times over the years and I do think that making a “burrito de gato” is something that I hadn’t thought of before. I found it relieving that the author included an important tidbit about “owning” a Cuddle Unit 5 and added a humorous spin to it: “it is not recommended to declaw Cuddle Unit 5, as aftermarket modifications will void your warranty”. They put a humorous spin to a lot of information in this manual and I sped through this manual as fast as possible, chuckling the whole time. I can’t wait to provide my cat loving friends (and the ones that might need a bit more info on their Cuddle Unit 5) with this delightful treat of a manual because Cuddle Unit 5’s are “a furry force of nature”.

I am so happy I stumbled upon this fun, unique book! As someone who has a love for cats and a sense of humor, this book was very relatable and enjoyable.

Presented like a typical user manual, it provides quirky, tongue-in-cheek advice and relevant, spot-on information for operating your cat. These insights, warnings, and instructions are demonstrated with silly but accurate and useful illustrations and graphics.

I laughed out loud so many times at the hilarious accuracy and the ridiculous, spot-on details that comes with owning a cat. Anyone who has ever owned a cat can relate to something in this book and appreciate the playful and practical knowledge and instructions.

The Cat Operator's Manual Getting the Most from Your New Cuddle Unit by Queen Olivia III is a book that I would buy dozens of copies of to give as gifts. This is the perfect book for any human who loves cats whether you currently live with one or many.
This guide is designed in a clearer format than any operation manual for appliances or software programs. Clearly the humans who write and illustrate those need a lesson in making instructions easy to follow.
There are helpful human tips on what areas of your cat unit to avoid touching or antagonizing in general. There are diagrams that point to each specific area of the unit being addressed. Sample maps and floor plans are also included for humans who may need to search for any presents left by their cat unit.
The illustrations add to the hilarity. They're minimalistic line drawings often showing the cat units with the exact same posture and expression but given a different flat color. Tips are given full pages with the familiar "high voltage" icon to make sure readers pay attention.
Humor aside, the tips provided are ones that are repeated within the cat behavior community by experts like Jackson Galaxy and Hannah the Kitten Lady. These subjects cover when to give your cat distance; litterbox mishaps; human hygiene; cat sounds; and feeding responsibly.

This operator’s manual introduces us to Cuddle Unit 5. Its sole purpose is to provide instructions on how to live with an animal descended from the Pharaoh's cats in ancient Egypt. The author tells us about the ins and outs of the Cuddle Unit 5, including such things as the levels of potential destructive behavior and how to minimize the damage to the dangers of trying to pet the Cuddle Unit’s belly and walk away with fingers intact and no serious damage done (get a scratching post).
The author uses humor and common sense so readers will laugh out loud at the antics of the Cuddle Unit as well as advice to see a veterinarian once a year to keep the Cuddle Unit 5 in top operating mode.
This would be the perfect gift for someone with a new cat/kitten or someone contemplating adopting a cat.

What an adorable, whimsical little book! This was a super fun read that would make the perfect gift for new and experienced cat parents alike. I especially enjoyed the creative mix of millennial-ese, technical jargon, and scientific terminology peppered throughout.
Warning: I highly suspect this manual was written by a Cuddle Unit 5, as evidenced by a few tidbits of questionable advice, including the sharing of kitchen scraps.

This is a witty guide to caring for your cat. At first glance this operators manual for your CU (cuddle unit aka cat) seems like a novelty read. However this book is packed with surprising detail and information for everyday care of your cat. This spans from health facts to keep you safe to tips for better understanding your cat. I was expecting a light fun read but this is a really good informative guide to your cat. Definitely recommend as a cat parent or as a gift to a new cat parent!

As the title suggests, this is a book about how to "operate" your cat, a.k.a. Cuddle Unit 5. Anyone who's lived with a cat will completely understand every reference, though even those who haven't should still find it amusing. I did think it was pretty hilarious in the first 50 pages or so, though the jokes fell flatter in the latter half of the book. Ironically, my own Cuddle Unit enacted various parts of the manual while I was trying to read.

I received this book from Edelweiss/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
This was a lot of fun, it made me laugh quite a few times and I liked the illustrations. It is sure a creative way to tell us all about cats and how they work/click. From sounds your cat makes to litter boxes to zoomies to food and so many other aspects.
But it was sometimes a bit wordy (which didn't seem to fit with the light-hearted tone of the book) + at times I just saw too many Cuddle Unit 5 and had to re-read parts which was just a shame. I think that it would have helped if it either was shortened to CU5 or maybe just use cat instead.
But all in all, I am excited that I read this one and it made me happy.

Loved this. Charming and adorable to read. Kind of like a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy but for cats instead of galaxies. Would be a great gift for any nerdy cat lover in your life. The text is hilarious while still being informative. A rare find.

Love this book!! As a new owner of two rescue Cuddle Units, it has prepared me well for what to expect. A quick read and spot on with the explanations. Very relatable. Excellent illustrations, a must read for any cat owner!

Would totally recommend this book for any cat owner. It is hilarious and spot on!
My two Cuddle Units #5 are the best but it is great to have this operator's manual to help with the tough spots.

If cats came with an owners manual this would definitely be it! Lots of practical advice layed out in a hilariously entertaining read that is perfect for all cat lovers! Loved all of the illustrations. I thank Netgalley and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

It’s quick, it’s funny, and it’s got solid advice for cat owners. More importantly it breaks down a lot of misconceptions people have about cats in a way that’s easy to digest. You should definitely get this for the first-time cat owner in your life.

Some of the advice is very specific, probably to the author's actual cat or cats. For example, there's a note not to give adult cats milk because they are lactose intolerant (true) but there's a caveat that cheese is OK because it has less lactose. I've never in all my life met a cat who likes cheese (although I did live with a cat who liked strawberry ice cream).
