This book was really informative and came at the right time after my second section which was undoubtedly more complicated than the first.

Although still to early for me to start the massage part of the recovery, I really enjoyed reading these chapters and how they can improve scar healing and will be going back to this in a few weeks time to try out the techniques. If you read the whole book parts of it can be repetitive, however this is quite helpful if you are dipping in and out you don't miss anything.

I liked the addition of the birth stories and the resources included which I've gone on to look at have been very helpful so far.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you to Netgalley, John Murray Press, Sheldon Press and the author.

This book is something every expectant parent should read, even if you don't want a C-section. The possibility of having an emergency C-section and then not having any tools to aid your recovery is very real (hello my first baby). I left the hospital having to do lots of research, not sure if I was finding appropriate resources, and didn't have the best healing journey because it turns out I wasn't doing everything I could have. My second baby is due any day now and I've read this book and feel prepared, even if I don't end up needing it, I'm so glad that the resource exists. The book is easy to read, broken down into small chapters with QR codes for online free resources. I love that the authors chose to repeat information at pertinent times, so if you're only reading the chapters relevant to your experience you don't miss out on the necessary information.

Pregnancy can be a wonderful experience, but as the due date nears, many mothers feel anxiety alongside excitement. Classes can only prepare expectant mothers so far. Personally speaking, my class barely touched upon c-sections. I recall them mentioning stats for these types of deliveries- a third of American births alongside a subpar maternal mortality rate in general. How I wish a resource like 360 Mama Guide to C-section Recovery had been available to me! It would have assuaged my fears and prepared me for short term care and long term management of my scar and abdomen. The structure of the book is straightforward, starting with explanations of the types of c-sections, how to prepare (both your body and home), and the post-op care. Each chapter provides a firsthand account from mothers to help connect the content. The information is written in a way that makes it accessible to non-medical folks like me. It will prepare readers for thoughtful conversations with their doctors and medical teams, and loved ones. There is such great advice here from harvesting colostrum at 36 weeks to extensive scar management to physical exercises and nutrition. Knowledge is power! I think this would be an excellent read for anyone preparing to give birth!

Having a C section was not a part of my birth plan, it was the worst case scenario. After laboring for a full day and multiple complications , I found myself in that surgery room with a broken heart and lots of confusion. Then, 2 days later, I was discharged from the hospital with no guidance on how to take care of myself after a caesarean. Since I never had a major surgery before, I was at a loss of what to do while being exhausted taking care of my new son. Like anyone this day and age looking for guidance , I found myself on tiktok :D that is where I found the 360 Mama page and ultimately , this book.
I can confidently say, currently six weeks postpartum, that I would not have recovered as well as I have without this book. I feel lucky that I found this early enough in my healing journey to implement changes and routines from the onset to support my long-term recovery. But even if you are finding this book months after a caesarean , there is wisdom for everyone.
I will be recommending this book to any of my friends who choose or end up having a C section as a must read!
And if you're asking yourself , how did I have time to read a book so quickly, it's a great thing to read during the multiple nursing sessions a day.

Disappointed with this book, it seemed mainly all about affiliate links to questionable and expensive products. I also found it quite -ve about c-sections, and in the pros/cons section at the end includes some data that has been proved statistically not significant (supposed increased chance of asthma amongst newborns). It also talks a lot about bad outcomes of c-sections like uterine rupture in repeat c-sections, even thought this is 0.5% but doesn't talk about much higher -ve outcomes for vaginal birth such as nerve damage in the baby from forceps and ventouse and 3rd/4th degree tears resulting in lifelong anal incontinence/colostomy. Would recommend the book Caesarian Birth over this any day.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review the advanced copy of this book! This is a fantastic and comprehensive all in one guide for C-Section recovery. The video links and personal story additions were excellent. As someone who is pregnant and wanting to know all of the possible information this was informative and incredibly easy to digest. I would recommend this to any pregnant person out there!
