I’ve never sought a savior, especially not a billionaire. But when a charming, single dad returns to my small town, memories stir of our shared past and our future feels increasingly intertwined.
As the town's new Doctor, Hudson Hamilton is hard to ignore. Not only is he now in charge of my moms medical needs, but he is also best friends with my boss.
His good looks and excellent bedside manner do little to tame the heat that swirls. But fantasizing never served me well and my life is chaotic, with one hurdle after another. No time to date, no time to daydream.
But he bonds with my mom, I bond with his son, and despite my hesitation, his caring ways start to break down my walls. But just like everything in my life, it doesn’t come easy. Sinister things are at play. Danger is lurking and it is coming from those closest to us.

The Billionaires of Whispers is a comfort series for me at this point. Sexy obsessed, men and some good whiskey? What else do you need?
That's not enough? Well, let me convince you with a little more.
Hudson is a big wig doctor who is coming back to his hometown to take over healthcare and to raise his young son. He has made his money and done great things but he's craving a simpler life. He is a widower and has some guilt over how his wife died.
Lacey is focused on helping her mom battle her diagnosis and getting through life, day by day. She has a shared history with Hudson, some of which she'd rather forget because he saw her at on the worst night of her life.
But he's charming and kind, he's great with her mom and great with his son. She can't help but be drawn more into his orbit. And when he sets his sights on her, her resistance starts to fall away.
I really loved how Hudson pursued her and wooed her. Some of his courting gifts will give you "butterflies", I'm telling ya! I truly enjoyed this and I love some cozy time in Whispers.
My one drawback was that... where did that 3rd act twist come from? Like, I know it's supposed to be a surprise but truly... why? Whatever, it was over quickly and we get to our HEA.
This was sweet, sexy, and heartwarming. With a little bit of "good girl" thrown in for fun. ;)
4 stars 3 on the spice scale

*Thank you to The Author Agency and the author for an ARC of this title.*
Ooo, how I waited for this book. Let me tell you that the wait was worth it.
We met Lacy and Hudson in Tanner's book, and we've seen the sparks that have flown between those two. But after the events in the first book, Hudson goes back to the city, only to return couple of months later after he settles his affairs. He is desperately attracted to the beautiful woman he saved, and he wants to convince her to give him a chance.
Lacy is extremely beautiful and a shy woman. She still has nightmares after what happened a couple of months ago. With her being promoted at work, she is finally getting her life on track when Hudson shows up again. But this time he will not miss the opportunity to catch the woman who makes his heart beat again.
I loved how patient Hudson was with Lacy. She has a difficult time trusting men, but bit by bit he wins her heart and her trust. She was strongly attracted to him, but when she sees that he is a good person, she falls deeply in love with him. To me they were perfect for each other.
The other thing I loved was the spice between those two. There was so much smut and spice, and I loved it so freaking much. Hudson was definitely a bossy man between the sheets that made her recognize her passion and explore it 🌶️🌶️🌶️.
The author put some interesting parts within the story. And of course there was a little bit of mystery that got resolved in the end.
Overall, I loved reading Hudson and Lacy 🩷.
***I received an ARC from the author, and my review is given voluntarily.***
Well it’s official, I’m moving to Whispers! The men in this town are next level and I want one. Swoon, swoon, swoon. Hudson and Lacy are couples goals. Love little Harvey and all the side characters. Love that the MFC’s have sass and grit and that there’s some danger lurking in the background of each story. Great series.
Samantha has once again delivered us a steamy, amazing billionaire, suspense romance and Hudson is a MUST read. I fell in love with Hudson and Lacy in book one and it only grew during their own book. I love a single parent trope and let me tell you, a hot billionaire doctor with a son who both fall deeply in love with Lacy just set the bar. Lacy is an independent strong willed woman who is the caretaker for her mum and has never allowed herself the chance to find love or time for herself. The character growth alone for Lacy was amazing to see coming from book one and I loved every second of seeing her spread her wings and find herself again. Hudson is patient, charming, dominant, protective and an amazing dad, he ticks every box for a book boyfriend and I need him to fly in and sweep me off my feet. Not to mention the filthy mouth on this man, sign me up. I loved how patient Hudson was with Lacy and helping her see that she can live while also being there for her mum and not pushing her into anything, he really listened to Lacy and let her set the pace. I think it’s safe to say Hudson’s love language is gift giving and damn he is good at it, the gifts he sent were so meaningful and heartfelt. The connection between Hudson and Lacy is electric and you just feel the string between them getting shorter and shorter as they come together.
Single Dad, Doctor and Billionaire. You can't go wrong!
I enjoyed the dynamic between Lacy and Hudson. Lacy being independent and the care taker for her mother slowly letting Hudson in to help her and not only help her the home life but also showing her that spreading her wings to learn to fly is ok. Hudson can do no wrong, his perfect really. I liked how their story developed, Hudson knowing he wants more with Lacy but still taking his time after the events of what happened in Book 1 (Interconnected and Tanner is a must read before picking up this one)
There were sweet tender moments and a nice little twist towards the end. Overall it was a good read, romance with a touch of suspense that has you wondering when its going to drop.
Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller were amazing as narrators and made me love Hudson and Lacey's story even more! They brought all the emotions from the page and made me really feel what was happening.
Hudson is the best, I have no notes. Him and his son Harvey move back to his hometown. Lacy, my star loving girl, she's been spending her life taking care of her mom but with Hudson's help is realizing it's okay to accept help and live her life 🩷
Lacy is strong willed and independent. She has had to take the world on her shoulders with helping with her mom’s care and thriving in her career. She is well-liked around Whispers for her energy, warmth and bright nature. She can be cheeky and sassy and humble and down to earth. She definitely grows throughout this story as someone who’s been pumping her wings but never having the opportunity to flight until now.
Hudson is a successful doctor and businessman. He prioritizes his son’s needs and loves his family dearly. He takes ownership and is dependable while also caring and charming. He remembers the small things and will go out of his way for you. Hudson is a cinnamon roll that exudes warmth and security.
These two gives you butterflies! We saw there was a spark between them in Victoria and Tanner’s book, and when Hudson return to Whispers, the two of them seem to reconnect immediately despite Lacy’s reservations. They have flirty banter and completely vibe off each other’s energy, and you have to applaud Hudson for his persistence and patience as he wants to show to Lacy that he can be the person she can wholeheartedly depend on. He showers her with affection and she in turn fits seamlessly into his life, having already formed a friendship with his young son, Harvey, and forging tight bonds with Tanner and Connor whom Hudson is also good friends with. You can totally feel their chemistry leaping off the page and the way their relationship develops through trust, care, humor and respect makes you giddy. This author writes memorable couples, and I feel as though Lacy and Hudson are by far my favorite!
Moreover, we get to see familiar faces and individuals we were falling innove with in Tanner and Victoria’s story. They all play a role here for Hudson and Lacy and I think definitely love seeing everyone’s interactions and coming together at prime moments. We also get some characters who are not as likable for good reason and it adds to the overall development of the characters and their story.
All in all this book is one you cannot miss. With endearing characters and a plot that courses smoothly while keeping you engaged, you will not regret reading this!.

ALC review ✨🎧 Narrated by Patrick Zeller and Amanda Stribling in Duet
Audio: The narration of the book was top tier. I’ve now listened to a few books by Patrick and I’ve come to realize he gives it 110% every time! The way he just becomes the character he is narrating is impressive. He uses subtle differences in tone and dialect to really diversify his performance. And his voice when he says the nickname 🫠
Amanda Stribling delivers a heartfelt and strong performance for Lacey. I could really feel her pain and worries, especially during nightmares, hospital scenes and conflicts. She also made the supporting characters exactly what they needed to be. A mean girl you instantly dislike , Hudson’s sweet son and her caring but sick mother. It was a well rounded performance. I will watch out for more of her work! 🥳✨
Story:
Hudson Hamilton 🥵 A man that is the greenest walking flag ever. He is attentive, sweet, obsessed and oh so caring. Not only did he just move back to town. But one of his first priorities coming back was to go see Lacey. And when he does he just goes for it. This man was so patient and caring with her heart and soul. I was SWOONING 😭🩷
Lacey Jones 🥹 I just wanted to hug her the entire book. This young woman has been through so much these last years. With her mother being sick, the bad college experience and the events from the first book. I was really hoping for her to find more confidence and peace in her life. And oh boy did she find it. In the sexy new town doctor 💁🏻♀️✨ (lucky her!) In the beginning she was a little reluctant to get to close to Hudson, but he broke down her defenses and made her feel special 🥹🩷
The plot of the book was entertaining and had me hooked. The slow burn was off the charts. I’ll never think of soup the same way ever again. I might have a new kink now 🥣
✨𝒯𝒽ℴ𝓊𝑔𝒽𝓉𝓈✨ Book two in the Billionaires of Whispers series, "Hudson," tells the story of Lacy and Hudson. Their initial connection was a fleeting moment when Hudson rescued her from danger. Years later, when Hudson returns to his hometown with his son, he realizes he wants to be a part of Lacy’s life. But Lacy is overwhelmed with work and stress, unable to let her guard down and struggling to make a real connection with Hudson.
𝐈 sympathized with Lacy’s struggles as she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders and never asked for help. Hudson, however, proved to be thoughtful and attentive; he truly saw her and listened to her. The duet narration by 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐙𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 perfectly captures the characters' emotions. It was another story by Samantha Skye that had me hooked from chapter one!
𝐅𝐨𝐫 fans of small-town romance featuring charming billionaire love interests and a hint of suspense, "Hudson" is a must-listen. Thank you to 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐤𝐲𝐞 for providing this early audio copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you Sam for the ARC of Hudson. I fell in love with Tanner many months ago, and the obsession continues with Hudson.
4.5 ⭐️ 3 🌶️
Hudson Hamilton is a big shot Doctor in the city, who comes home to Whispers to take over as town Doctor. After an emotional and terrifying night months prior during a visit home, Hudson could not take his mind off Lacy, a young woman he rescued from a fire. And now that he was back in town, he was determined to make Lacy his.
Hudson was swoon-worthy to the MAX. He was so thoughtful and understanding. He is handsome, and spicy, and loyal to those he loves. He was willing to wait for Lacy for as long as she needed to ensure she was comfortable in their relationship.
And Lacy, oh my sweet Lacy. She is strength, and grace, and beauty. She takes care of everyone else before she even thinks to care for herself. She is independent and fierce, and I adored her to pieces.
Sam has a way of captivating me from the first chapter to the very last. The way she brings in the suspense and trauma right alongside the romance and spice is PERFECT.
I cannot wait for the Billionaires of Whispers series to continue next with Connor.

5 Star Review Hudson (The Billionaires Of Whispers #2) by Samantha Skye
Audio/eBook I love small town stories, add in that our hero is a single dad and I was all in.
Doctor Hudson Hamilton is the new doctor in Whisper and Lacey Jones’ story.
The attraction is definitely there between them and it was wonderful to watch as their relationship developed.
I fell hard and fast for our couple. There were a number of twists and turns as secrets are revealed.
I loved how Hudson is there for Lacy no matter what and the relationship she developed with us son.
The suspense added an additional layer to the story and had me invested from the start.
Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller did a good job of narrating the characters in a variety of voices and brought the story to life for me, doing justice to the story that the author created. Both their voices were easy to listen to and I found myself invested in their performances.
Hudson is a well written, entertaining book with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.
Another incredible story from Samantha Skye. I’m a sucker for a single dad, and Hudson is no exception. His kind heart and fierce protective nature is irresistible. I couldn’t stop reading. A bit of a slow burn, but once the heat hits - oooooft - it’s delicious. I felt the pain of both the characters through the pages, Samantha Skye did a great job painting the picture that so many could relate to. Losing loved ones by the big C, or standing beside someone as they battle it, is one that pulls the heart strings. I’m so glad they found each other through mutual trauma (at the end of Tanner - book 1), even though the journey took some turns. A little twist towards the end that wasn’t what I expected at all. I ate up the whole book and cannot wait to read the next.
I have no words! This was even better than Tanner! I love Lacy and Hudson. Their story is good and so emotional.
It was also my first time listening to both narrators, Patrick and Amanda, and I fell in love even more. They brought all the emotions, the humor and wit, the intellegence, the romance and lust.. everything really to life! I loved how the author touched on some subjects in a way that wasn't hurtful to the reader while maintaining the truth and not sugar coating it. And the connection between the main characters was organic and seamless.
Wow, what a whirlwind of that last bit of this book! I absolutely adored Lacy & Hudson! Their attraction is unmatched and I love how caring and thoughtful they both are. And then add in a cute little Harvey and it couldn't be any better!
The audiobook is narrated in duet by Amanda Stripling and Patrick Zeller. They both did a fabulous job at bringing this book to life and I couldn't stop listening! Would definitely recommend the audio version of this book!

Thank you so much to Samantha Skye for letting me listen and review an ALC of this book!
5 ⭐️ Why you’ll love this book!! 💕Small Town 🔥Billionaire 💕Single Dad 🔥Age Gap 💕Spicy 🔥Suspenseful
I don’t know what Samatha Skye puts in her books but dang am I addicted to her writing style!! Hudson is so swoon worthy in this book!! I love Lacy she gone through a lot but she still amazing and strong !! I love how Hudson was with Lacy! I also loved how Lacy was with Hudson’s son
Hard to put it down. Hudson and Lacey are a lovely couple. He's her own hero but she is reluctant to go out with him. She's got a lot on her plate. Damn, he's persistent.
Great weekend read about another Whispers Billionaire and the woman who captures his heart!
Even better I got to listen to two awesome narrators Amanda Stribling and Patrick Zeller. Sooooo good.
I originally ARC read this book back in January 2025. My overall opinions and thoughts on the story are the same and can be found below. This review will focus on the audiobook itself.
Lacey and Hudson's story didn't really work for me, as I didn't connect with them the way I did with Tanner and Victoria in book one.
However, my overall enjoyment of this book did improve because of listening to it. Not every couple an author writes will resonate with every reader, and that is the case with this book for me. I absolutely think the story is worth giving a go, especially in audiobook format, as both narrators did a fantastic job, and because of their performances, I found myself feeling more invested in the romance this time around because of the emotion and life they put into the characters. There are some great small-town vibes and spice sprinkled throughout, and some of the extra little noises Patrick gifts the listener with in those scenes were much appreciated. 🔥
Audiobook releases on July 25th.
****************************************** Original ARC Review ⬇️ Contains Spoilers
Book 2 in the Billionaires of Whispers series follows Lacy & Hudson. Lacy is still mentally recovering after the events of book one that she was caught up in, while also burning the candle at both ends with her job and taking care of her sick mother. Hudson is moving back to town to take over as the town doctor with his son Harvey in tow. Both he and Lacy feel a pull towards the other and have for a while, so now that he is back in town, can they navigate her reluctance to get involved when her life is already busy, as well as the significant age gap, among other things, to find their HEA?
Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this as much as I did book one. I didn't connect with either Lacy or Hudson individually or as a couple. Frankly, Lacy's reasons for not getting involved with Hunter were ridiculous. I understand her mother is sick and Lacy has had to be her caregiver for the majority of her life, but the way Lacy refused to even go out anywhere unless her mom had someone with her seemed excessive, especially as, from what I could gather, her mom is actually in remission throughout this book and not actively in the throes of her illness. It was like Lacy was infantilizing her mom to a degree and just came across very weird to me. And her internal monologue was nothing but pining for and lamenting about wanting Hudson whilst actively rejecting his attempts to date her; it just made no sense to me.
Hudson was okay... except that as a single dad, he sure did seem to forget he had a son. There are hardly any scenes of him actively being a parent; his son is constantly palmed off on others for sleepovers, etc., in order for the story between the main couple to progress, so Lacy's "connection" with the kid felt very forced and surface level at best. The drama surrounding Lacy also did nothing for me, and how she chose to handle it and how it played out in the end was eye-roll-inducing and very telenovela-ish. There was some decent spice, but a book needs more than that for it to work for me. I'm just left underwhelmed, which is such a shame, as I remember really enjoying book one.🤷♀️ 🌶🌶
" I slowed my feverish kiss, wanting to take it all in. Her little sounds hit my lips like torture, and there's no way I can stay away from her anymore. This is just another moment to solidify that fact. No more going slow. No more dancing around each other. She is my girl, and now I want the world to know."
This book just didn’t resonate with me as much as the first book in the series, Tanner. I didn’t have an issue with the author’s storytelling, but I didn’t find it as exciting or interesting as I expected.
Lacy is a recent college graduate with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Her mother has been fighting cancer for awhile, and she’s her mom’s primary caretaker, she takes care of running the house, paying medical and other bills which all have her overwhelmed.
Hudson is a widowed billionaire doctor who has moved back to his hometown with his young son, Harvey. He rescued Lacy in the previous book and hasn’t been able to get her out of his head ever since.
The attraction and romance between Lacy and Hudson was just average in my opinion. He steps up and arranges to ‘take care’ of so much for Lacy, which she isn’t used to and really isn’t sure what she thinks about it. While it’s somewhat romantic, the age gap between them makes it also a bit off for me.
The story hints at an inappropriate situation that sent Lacy running from her Ivy League university to come home and take care of her mom while finishing her degree remotely. When the actual situation is revealed and the true degree of what’s going on is evident things get extremely difficult for Lacy.
Overall, this is a good, fairly average read. Give the book a chance because my opinion may be vastly different from yours.

Dr Hudson Hamilton! Now, Samantha knows how much I love Tanner, but he has some competition with this very hot Daddy in a suit. Okay, I will have them both, if you insist. Hudson is book two in The Billionaires of Whispers series, can be read as a standalone but helps with context to read them as a series.
Hudson returns to Whispers to take over as the doctor for the town, bringing with him Harvey, his son (who is just to damn cute and a chip off of the old block). But, our resident doctor is not just back for the small town. Lacy, who works for one of his best friends Tanner (yes that Tanner), is the other. Lacy and Hudson have a deep seated connection from the horrific events at Maries Place, and he has never forgotten her. Lacy is the carer, full-time, of her Mum Veronica, who raised her as a single mother. Lacy does not ever ask for help, so shoulders everything, but nor does she believe someone like Hudson would want her. Lacy makes excuses that she doesn't have time to date, but Hudson is not put off by this. He sees that she doesn't need a saviour, because Lacy is strong and independent, but she deserves to be taken care of occasionally, and have decisions made for her, and in her best interests.
There is that slow burn, those looks between them both but when those flickers ignite, I actually was screaming and cheering because god knows, Lacy needs all the amazing things life has to offer. Of course, the reason she came home from college in her final year threatens to ruin her happiness, and the twist around this was nothing but jaw dropping, and a true "holy hell" moment. Samantha, I love your writing, and this was so beautifully written I just have no words. Thank you for always giving me the most perfect read, I gladly will take Tanner and Hudson. Oh, and make sure you download the bonus scene (heart melted) and the teaser for Connor....he might break me too.
Hudson has everything plus some! You get drama, mystery, perfect amount of spice & oh so good love building, you’ll wish Hudson wasn’t a fictional character.
The storyline is so good, you’re constantly wondering what’s going to happen next & that added twist will leave you shocked!
The love building between the two characters is wonderfully done, you can’t wait to see how their connection comes to fruition. But once it does, wow! Swoon worthy! My heart absolutely melted by the love between Hudson and Lacy.
Can we also talk about the cherries and chicken soup scene?! 🥵
Samantha Skye’s writing is incredible. Her books are well written, spicy, drama & mystery but in such a classy way. There’s no jealousy angst or that toxic angst, it’s just true, good, respectful love building. By adding mystery and drama, all of those elements together, tie the book in and will have you wanting more.
I cannot get enough of Samantha Skye’s books. I am soooo looking forward to Connor and the other books in this series!!
✨Thank you BookSprout and Samantha Skye for the ARC! ✨

Received the audio for Hudson and Omgggg!! This was an absolute treat in audio format! The story itself is fast-paced, addictive, and full of delicious tension, but what really brought it to life were the incredible narrators. Their chemistry made every scene crackle, and they nailed the emotions—whether it was the steamy moments, the snarky banter, or the more vulnerable parts. Sexy, suspenseful, and impossible to press pause on. A must-listen!
Hudson and Lacy are next up in the Billionaires of Whispers series and they are just perfect for each other🙌
Lacy had always been a caretaker to her mom, and essentially carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, is surprised to learn that Hudson will be back in Whispers overseeing the hospital and any patients who require medical care. One of which is her mom.
Hudson has decided it’s best to move to his home town of Whispers, for his work as well as his son. He’s thrilled to discover Harvey and Lacy already know each other, which makes his pursuit of her even easier. But Lacy throws out all kinds of resistance…Hudson is determined to prove himself worthy of her🥰
A great story, with a twist I suspected and some I didn’t. I am eager to get my hands on Connor next and I’m looking forward to watching him fall for a woman of his own☺️
What another great trip to Whispers. I loved Hudson and Lacy's story. It was so good. I loved that they had the previous connection from book 1 (Tanner) and even though she tried to fight it because she is all independent, Lacy couldn't deny Hudson. And once again Samantha Skye did a wonderful job bringing in the suspense. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to go down. It was so fricken good. I can't wait to go back to Whispers. **Update to add audio~ Patrick Zeller and Amanda Stribling did so AMAZING as Hudson and Lacy. They really brought these two to life and gave you the attraction and suspense this story had. I absolutely loved what these two had to offer in this and listening to this story again made me re-fall in love with this couple!
You’re joking??? You’re joking!! Because ain’t no way Samantha’s out did her self again!!!… I guess you aren’t joking!!
When I tell you I ate this UP!!! Hudson is DADDY AND I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!!! The patience, the work he was willing to put in for his interest in Lacy!! The way he helped her family #1 BOYFRIEND TITLE!!!
I loved Lacy and how she was so selfless always looking after her mom and putting herself last she is literally the sweetest!!!
The mystery and suspense this book had was the perfect touch!! It kept me guessing and I never wanted to put it down!
5/5✨
Update!! I just recently finished the audiobook and WOW!! 100000/10 hearing the characters come to life was beautiful!!! I love this series so much and love watching them come to life through audiobook!!
Honestly, this fell a little flat for me. I really enjoy a single dad romance, but I like when the relationship with the child is a bit more integral to the story. I wish I saw more of the FMC and the child getting to know each other and their relationship. There's also a lot of foreshadowing with her health that I feel like went no where. A lot of build up to be let down. I did enjoy the twist at the end though! And overall it was pretty good, just not as good as I was hoping for from an age gap, single dad romance.
After reading Tanner, the first book in this series, I found myself simultaneously wishing Whispers was a real place and wishing for the rest of the series to be published already. Lacy and Hudson together did not disappoint. I loved their dynamic, the patience Hudson showed, and the way the suspense played out. I was surprised by the suspense of it all and just loved how it all came together.
I am so looking forward to reading Connor’s story.
Thank you to Samantha Skye and The Author Agency for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
🎧🎧🎧🎧 2nd read was an ARC of the audiobook. The narrator’s really brought lacy and Hudson to life!!
This is the second book in the series and I am loving the characters! Lacy and Hudson were so good!! Lacy was so strong and independent never wanting to ask for help. And Hudson never forced his help on her, he just offered it. Offered to ease some of her stress. And boy did he 🥵.
I am so ready for Connor’s story! I can’t wait to see him get kitty whipped as Tanner and Hudson said. Haha
Hudson's come home to raise his son and take over as the town's doctor. Not only is his family here, but so is Lacy. She's too young for him, and they have a past and connection with some not so positive memories, but he can't help but be drawn to her, especially when she bonds with his son. If he can get past Lacy's very strong walls, and the forces out there with not very good intentions, they can have something pretty damn beautiful.
Lacy's still suffering the effects of what happened to her before, when Hudson came to her rescue. She's also been her mother's sole caretaker, along with working too. She's self sufficient and loathe to ask for or accept help from anyone. Now Hudson's back here and taking over her mother's medical care, and they're becoming closer every day. His son is having his way with her heart, and she and Hudson are falling. She's still so wary, but she can't help but fall for Hudson's compassionate ways, and his son's adorableness.
There is a lot to be said for a man with age and experience, the dominant, swoony kind of experience. Hudson is all that plus has a compassionate heart like the best doctors, and is an amazing, loving dad. Lacy is so strong, a survivor whose scars and innate shyness had her keeping her heart closed until an adorable little boy and his gorgeous dad claimed it. I love Lacy and Hudson and can't wait for the next billionaire to fall in love.
ARC provided by The Author Agency for an honest review.
In Samantha Skye's "Hudson," the seemingly quiet town of Whispers becomes the backdrop for a deeply emotional and captivating romance where past sparks are fanned into an undeniable flame. This story masterfully blends the charm of a small-town setting with the allure of a second-chance romance, creating a narrative that is both heartwarming and suspenseful.
The novel centers on Lacy, a strong-willed and independent woman who has gracefully shouldered the responsibility of her mother's care while building her own career. Known throughout town for her warmth and bright energy, Lacy has a sassy, down-to-earth nature. Her journey throughout the story is one of profound growth, as a woman who has long been ready to fly finally gets the opportunity to soar.
Her world is gently upended by the return of Hudson Hamilton, a successful doctor, businessman, and billionaire. As the town's new physician, Hudson is immediately intertwined with Lacy's life, taking charge of her mother's medical needs and happening to be best friends with her boss. But Hudson is far from a typical billionaire hero. Described by the reviewer as a "cinnamon roll that exudes warmth and security," he is a devoted single dad who prioritizes his son, cherishes his family, and remembers the small things that matter most.
The chemistry between Lacy and Hudson is electric from the start. Fans who caught the spark between them in a previous book will be delighted to see it ignite here. Despite Lacy's initial reservations, Hudson’s patient and persistent pursuit is a joy to behold. He is determined to show her that he can be the person she can wholeheartedly depend on, showering her with affection and genuine care. Their flirty banter is sharp and engaging, and their connection feels authentic as it develops through mutual trust, humor, and respect. Their relationship is a testament to Skye's talent for writing memorable couples, with the reviewer noting, "Lacy and Hudson are by far my favorite!"
The world of Whispers is rich with familiar faces, and seeing characters from previous stories interact and support Hudson and Lacy adds a wonderful layer of community to the narrative. However, the story isn't without its shadows. As Hudson's caring nature begins to break down Lacy's carefully constructed walls, a sense of unease emerges. Sinister things are at play, with danger lurking from those closest to them, adding a compelling thread of suspense that keeps the pages turning.
The narration by Patrick Zeller and Amanda Stribling, is a truly exceptional experience that brings these endearing characters to life. Zeller perfectly captures Hudson's caring and dependable nature, his voice embodying the warmth and security that define the character. Stribling gives a voice to Lacy's strength, sass, and vulnerability, beautifully navigating her character's emotional growth. The narration enhances the story immensely, allowing the listener to fully immerse themselves in the chemistry and emotion of Hudson and Lacy’s journey.
Overall, "Hudson" is a book you cannot miss. With its engaging plot, unforgettable characters, and a romance that will give you butterflies, Samantha Skye delivers a story that is both deeply moving and delightfully entertaining.
