Sydney is out for revenge no matter what it takes—including teaming up with a grumpy, retired cop who wants nothing to do with her.

West has retired from the police force. Completely burnt out, he doesn't want to protect anyone anymore. All he wants is to be left alone so that he can refinish his new-to-him sailboat.
Unfortunately for him, a woman shows up asking for his help—needing his help.
He does the only thing he can.
And says no.
But that doesn't seem to stop her from seeking him out when her plans for revenge go sideways and she's now the target. He can't just walk away and leave her to fend for herself.
Now he's stuck with a cheerful, optimistic, vengeance-bent woman as a passenger on his sailboat.

West might not have been able to keep her off his boat, but he'll surely be able to keep her out of his heart.
Maybe.

West of Port is a closed door romcom adventure! It contains mild language and suspenseful elements.

Another FANTASTIC addition to the Love & Treasure series!
Anytime I’m back in this world I’m HOOKED!

Sydney & West were SO cute! Their grumpy x sunshine dynamic PLUS the strangers with mutual “friends” FORCED PROXIMITY mixture was so great.

Carina gave them the best banter & great conversations!
I was chuckling & squealing FREQUENTLY! I love highlighting my kindle while I read a paperback. I have so many great moments.

I LOVED seeing our favorite cast of “morally grey” characters make their entrances and this book just has me HYYYPPPEEDDDD for Crew’s story!
And I’m itching for a Rook to King reread because Bodie & Gracen are still my OTP!

I think this series would be a BLAST to read straight through, one right after the other. And DO NOT miss out on the novella - it is *chefs kiss*

”I don’t want you confusing Stockholm syndrome with real feelings.”

If you enjoy 𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 then this might be the book for you.

We have Sydney out to get her hands on 30 mil. The only thing is she’s sorta kinda stumbled upon an unexpected partnership with a grouch named West who at first glance wants nothing to do with her antics but then sort of becomes her champion whilst staying a respectable distance to give her the space she needs.

Sydney is a bold, strong female lead and West, her new found grump ex police officer friend end up making a great team.

I liked that Gracen and Bodie (from an earlier novel this author) make appearances in this book. I love when authors create their own little universes.

I’ve been struggling with reading certain genres lately. I just wasn’t vibing with the story as much as prior books. I just didn’t feel as connected to Sydney and West.

“You’re not grumpy, are you?”
“Oh no, no. Not at all…but you definitely threw a cloud in front of my sunshine.”

I’m obsessed with the Love and Treasure series by Carina Taylor and this one was every drop of the romantic adventure I was craving. This story starts out with a bang as scrappy and tough Sydney finds herself in a precarious situation and literally clings to West for help. The characters cameos were all that I desired–it was fantastic to meet up with these morally gray villainous heroes once more. And I LOVE West in all his grumpy glory.

The suspense and mystery vied with the romance and I was captivated from start to finish. I can’t wait for more!

West of Port is an adventure rom com, the first I have read in this sub genre. A bit like romantic suspense but less intense, more light hearted and funny. To me the recipe was absolutely perfect.

West Of Port is so fun and entertaining and I highly recommend it when you need an escape from the heaviness of daily life.

Mixed feelings

Ehhh... I loved the first book in this series, Rook to King, but something about this one just didn't feel as compelling. It's still fast-paced and fun, an adventure rom com with a lighthearted feel and suspense at the center of it. I simply found it really easy to put down. Initially, I thought maybe I was in the wrong mood for it, but I tried several times on several days - and it's not a particularly long book. I did like the humor and how the storyline was a little bonkers though. Our couple goes from strangers to reluctant partners in crime to lovers over the course of a few days, and it was fun to watch the grumpy hero fall. I'm sure there are some readers who will love this, however, it was a bit of a miss for me.

The story follows Sydney, a woman who has a USB drive that will give her access to millions of dollars... if only she can crack the code. On the recommendation of a friend, Sydney reaches out to former cop West, who may be able to help. But the grumpy man is just trying to live his life outside of the police force, repairing his sailboat and living a life of leisure. Unfortunately for both Sydney and West, the mafia are on their trail - those millions are theirs, of course - and it's not long before they're running for their lives. As West and Sydney get to know each other better, they develop feelings that neither one anticipated.

Reading the other books in this series is not required, but may help you get a better feel for the characters and the vibes. I read the first book awhile back and it was SO much fun. I loved that the story went some fun places, and that the romance was front and center. The same could be said about West and Sydney's love story, though the relationship development felt off in this one. Yes, it's an exceedingly slow burn/closed door romance, but Sydney isn't even sure West is single until the book is almost over. They had little chemistry, and their friendship was definitely a reluctant one. It was almost too bubbly and playful - there needed to be a few more moments of sincere connection. Entirely possible that readers who regularly dig into closed door romances will have an easier time with this though. I enjoy them from time to time, but am certainly not a regular. In the end, I do think there's a lot of good here, there was just something that was off for me.

Carina Taylor knows how to write an excellent adventure romcom! This is the third book I’ve read by her and, just like the previous ones, it was so good and full of hilarious moments!

It cracked me up how utterly nonchalant Sydney was about dealing with the mafia. Like it’s the MAFIA for crying out loud! But she carried on as though it was just an ordinary group of people 😂 She wanted her revenge, and plus, she was looking for a fun adventure so sure, why not just go try to steal thirty million dollars from criminals?! No bad ideas there! 🫣

Okay, let me just set the record straight. If you give me a MMC with tattoos, I will 100% be reading that book 🤭 So when I saw West had himself a lovely assortment of said tattoos, I knew this was going to be an excellent read 😁

I loved every interaction between West and Sydney! They were the funniest, most oddly paired couple, and it was perfect! West’s grumpy persona won me over from the start and Sydney’s cheerful outlook on literally everything was the perfect opposite for Mr. Moody himself 😄 The chemistry was very highly present between these two and oooh, did it make for a good story!

“If you want to win the war, you have to play a little chess. This gives you the chance to get things in order to take the king.”

~Sydney is out for revenge no matter what it takes— including teaming up with a grumpy, retired cop who wants nothing to do with her. But that doesn’t seem to stop her from seeking him out when her plans for revenge go sideways and she’s now the target. He can’t just walk away and leave her to fend for herself.
Now he’s stuck with a cheerful, optimistic, vengeance-bent woman as a passenger on his sailboat…

“You can’t go into this unprepared. If you’re going to keep going with this, then you had better be ready to watch your back.”

🚤 West of Port is a closed door romcom adventure! It does contain some mild language and suspenseful elements. This story starts out with quite a bang as scrappy and tough Sydney finds herself in quite an unexpected and risky situation and literally runs and clings to West for help. It is filled precisely with heart-pounding action and suspense, witty banter, intriguing mystery, and swoony romance that held my full attention from the very first page to the very last page. The delightful humor and many sparks of chemistry along the way, made this a quick-paced thrilling, sit on the edge of my seat, kind of reading experience. Pages flew with this adventure of a story! This story is a great adventure of life, death, and love! It may also help twice about “making deals with the mafia.”😉📚🙌🏻

“You are everything and quite frankly, way more than I deserve.”

•content: some mild language and suspenseful moments.

Loved it! Carina blends romance, humor, adventure, and grumpy/sunshine to create such a fun and wild ride!

Sydney’s quest for revenge against the Mafia leads her to team up with West, a retired cop who wants nothing to do with her. Despite his reluctance, Sydney’s persistence wears him down, and he joins her on her mission. When her plan backfires and she becomes the target, West can’t abandon her. He begrudgingly takes her on his sailboat to keep her safe, but trying to keep her out of his heart is a losing battle.

What I loved:
Grumpy-Sunshine
Heroine on the run
Reluctant hero
Rubber Ducky
Dual POV
Forced proximity
Fast paced plot
Character cameos
Only one bed
The ending

West was the grumpiest of grumps. He made me laugh out loud so many times, but underneath he was a softy. Watching him fall in love with sunny and bubbly Sydney had me smiling the entire time.

I loved Sydney! She’s a sweetheart, and oh so smart and clever with a lot of skills and abilities.

Lots of swoon, fast-paced action, and so many laugh out loud moments made this an absolute delight!

This is part of the Love and Treasure series but can be read as a standalone.

Many thanks to the author for a copy!

What an amazing story packed with action, adventure and some romance. This book is part of the Love and Treasure series and just like all the previous stories, this book will bring all kinds of twist and turns. While this story can be read as a stand alone story, I think it would be beneficial to read previous stories to get the whole picture. This story is a dual pov, clean romance. We get to see West (who we know from the previous stories) finally find his match. We all know I love a good grump who gets softened up by his partner and West is the perfect grump. While he loves and cares deeply about those he cares about he also puts up a grumpy front to preserve himself. Then we have sweet Sydney. She has found herself in a mess but with the world underestimating her and her sugar sweet personality we are going to see her not only disarm West’s heart but so much more.

This adventure RomCom is fast-paced, a tiny bit intense, and entirely HILARIOUS! It had so much grumpy-sunshine goodness and was such a good time.

I just adored West and Sidney! They were absolutely adorable as they quickly fell in love through their immensely intense forced proximity situations. Their banter was SO good!!! This pair had a steady stream of witty dialogue that I ate right up.

I really like the characters Carina Taylor writes. Sydney is an optimist that can hold her own but is willing to accept help from a giant grumpy ex-cop. Both of them were so much fun and when they got together it was fire!

The story had so many Easter eggs for other books in the series, so while it could be read as a stand-alone, I believe it will be best enjoyed after reading the other Love and Treasure books. There are a lot of cross-over characters and plot lines that might make more sense if you’ve read the other books, especially Rook to King and the 60’s novella, Love and Treasure, which has details of the backstory. World’s Worst Boyfriend is a fun one to read before Rook to King if you want to read the entire fun adventure romcom series. I recommend them all because they are a BLAST!

Super fun! I really enjoy this series. It's a fun, adventure romance. Likable characters, entertaining storyline and just a fun little escape. I really enjoy the series and hope there will be more books in the future. The books stand well on their own, but also great to read in order.

Content Clean PG+
Clean romance, just kissing. Some mafia violence (not overly descriptive), no language

This is such a stinking fun read! Grumpy/sunshine, reluctant hero, so many laugh out loud moments mixed with some mafia-style adventure, and plenty of swoon!

Things I Loved:
-Rubber Ducky
-Allergy donuts
-Bodieisthedevil666
-“‘You realize this makes Bodie your Batman, right?’ I smirk. ‘The hell it does. You can be my Wonder Woman, but he’s not my Batman.’”
-Time to collect on that kiss 😍
-Arguing over percentages
-The end!

If you’ve read the others in the series you will thoroughly enjoy the crossovers— you can read it as a standalone, but you’ll be itching for the backstories, trust me!

My Opinion:
What a fun book!!!! It’s just as good as the others from the series, but I don’t know why this one got me differently, and it’s my favorite so far! It’s very hard to make a very grumpy hero with a super sunshiny heroine work, but in this story, it’s so natural that it makes us swoon even more. Sydney it’s so unhinged and I LOVE crazy characters. Her story grows on you and it’s impossible not to love her. West is that grumpy with the heart of gold, and since the beginning, he melts our hearts. If you want a fun story, this is it.

Thank you, @carinataylorauthor and her PA @delightfullybooked, for this gifted book so I can read and review it.

West of Port by Carina Taylor is the fourth book in her Love and Treasures series. I read Rook to King, the first in this series, before reading West or Port, and I’m glad I did. I met Bodie King, Sydney, and West in the first book. West of Port was a fun adventure, grumpy/sunshine, closed-door romance. Sydney is trying to revenge her family from an Italian mafia. Bodie directs Sydney to West to help her with the USB drive that holds the answers to her adventure. Overall, this was a fun adventure romance book!

I’ve been obsessed with this series! I read World’s Worst Boyfriend last fall and immediately fell for the mysterious West, so I was beyond excited to get his story. And Sydney? She was the perfect sunshine to his grumpy—their dynamic was everything!

I’ve been loving all the adventure romance books coming out lately, and this one was no exception. It had the perfect mix of action, humor, and swoon-worthy moments.

Some of my favorite parts:
Clinging to West for dear life
That bathroom scene on the boat
Sydney’s chaotic driving (I almost want to experience it for myself, almost)
Her overprotective brothers and their priceless reactions

Such a fun, wild ride by @carinataylorauthor

Content: makeouts, mild language

Okay, it's official: this is my favorite of the series!!! This grumpy/sunshine story is done so well. After reading 3 chapters, I knew I wouldn't want to set the book down. You get pulled in to the story right from the beginning! It's fast-paced and has fun connections to World's Worst Boyfriend, Rook to King, and Love and Treasure. All of the cameos were SO fun!

Sweet West-- He's just a jaded ex-cop who is tired of feeling like he works so hard and it doesn't make a difference. He's got a grumpy exterior but deep down, he's protective and wants to do what's right.

Sydney-- Oh man, I love her! She's tired of being underestimated by the people that love her and decides to take matters into her own hands in regards to a wrong done to her family. She's sunshine and optimism and makes you want to be her best friend.

Normally, I struggle with instalove stories but this one worked for me! Syd & West were stuck together 24/7 for a week in an extremely high stakes situation, and they just took care of each other. I loved every second!

*Thanks to the author for the ARC. No positive review was required.

Favorite Quotes:

Favorite Quotes:
😁"Stop smiling." "Why? You don't like happy people?" I look her dead in the eye. "No."

🤣"You're obnoxious, and I hope you realize that." "Then I'm living up to all my life goals," he calls after me as I go below.

😏 “Go put your clothes on, and we'll get a good hot meal and buy you something that won't fall off you." "Aw, you're about to make me melt with all this sweetness." He raises one eyebrow and looks at me with concern. "Sometimes I worry about you." I follow him to the next line that he's tying off. "So, you're thinking about me too?" …. "It’s a little hard to get you out of my head when you're in my clothes—and my bed."
⬆️ Despite what this quote may sound like, this book has no implied intimacy or nudity! She was wearing West’s clothes after hers got soaked. And there’s only one bed on the ship which Sydney claims as her own. 😆

💋 "I have a vested interest in you surviving to a ripe old age, Sydney," I tell her. "Oh, really?" she says slyly. "And why is that?" "I need time to collect on that kiss you asked me for."

❤️ "Sydney. When you came to me and asked me to save you...you clung onto me like a stinking barnacle." Sydney gives me a nudge with her elbow. "A very attractive barnacle, right?" I chuckle. "Right. What I'm saying is that you hung on, and that was it for me. You permanently cemented yourself in my life. And I want you to know-that's the best thing that's ever happened to me."

LOVED!! This romcom adventure kept me on the edge of my seat!

All retired cop West wants to do is fix up his new boat and live in peace. Which he manages to do just fine until Sydney walks into his life.

He refuses to help her and get tangled up in the mess she has created...until he realizes she has made herself the target of some extremely dangerous people.

Now they are on the run - or at least the boat - together, and West can't help the growing attraction he feels toward Sydney despite his best efforts not to fall.

What you'll love
grumpy/sunshine
retired police officer
dual pov
heroine on the run
the boat
reluctant hero
forced proximity
suspenseful scenes
fast paced plot
dancing
character cameos
only one bed
swoony kisses

Holy buckets, Batman!! I am such a fan of the perfect combination of romcom + suspense. It's the best duo since someone decided that peanut butter and jelly go together!! Apart they are so fun but together they become something entirely amazing!

I was hooked from the first chapter and oh my, watching grumpy West fall in love with sunshiney Sydney has got to be one of my favorite things ever! Their banter was top-notch and I loved every time West realized he had underestimated Sydney and her abilities. Their insta-attraction turned into something more pretty quickly, but that's what high-stakes, dangerous situations will do and those sparks were flying faster than the bullets!

Loved the whole supporting cast of morally grey heroes (you need to read the rest of the series!) and I am hoping we get a spin-off series with Sydney's brothers because I am more than a little intrigued!

Set your calendars for TOMORROW because Carina Taylor ‘s newest sweet adventure romcom hits the Kindle shelves! Taylor won my undying fandom with World’s Worst Boyfriend and I was so excited for the secretive West to finally get his own book. When Sydney finds herself wanted by the PNW Italian mafia, she’s sent by our favorite “retired” criminal Bodie to the decrepit sailboat that former police detective West lives on. (Bodie would like to assure you that everything he and his wife Gracen do is completely and 100% aboveboard). West finds himself helping Sydney pretty much completely against his will, but her sunshine and sarcasm break down his curmudgeonly hermit self bit by bit. Onboard the Rubber Ducky, she and West (with the help of patient and long-suffering Fletcher) make their way down the Oregon coast seeking missing mafia millions.
I am LOVING the newish adventure romcom genre that Taylor and a few other authors have been exploring. Who doesn’t love a good caper story? Taylor’s books are full of dry, understated humor and sarcasm that you don’t see coming until you’re laughing out loud! This story is FULL of good laughs and heart and perfect for your keeper shelf. Go grab it as soon as you can!
(As a side note, it was also a breath of fresh air that Sydney’s parents were both alive and well and loving. There’s so much sadness in real life and I’m tired of the multitudes of romcom heroines lately whose parents were lost to cancer or car accidents or any number of fatal errors.)

“Just my luck. I walked from the frying pan into the fire. Killed on a boat by a beautiful man. You can never trust the good-looking ones.”

West of Port: A romantic adventure (book 4 in the Love and Treasure series) is flat out fun. Carina Taylor has yet again managed to mix humor, romance, adventure and gray scale characters (hello again mafia and mob!) into one fantastic story.

Sydney and West are like oil and water. The epitome of sunshine vs grumpy. Adventure seeker vs beach bum…you get my drift? Their meet-cute is so much fun and sets the story up perfectly for a bumpy ride while they try to solve a mystery of missing money, seeking revenge and staying alive at the same time.

“Explain.
One word. This complete stranger expects me to blurt out everything based on a one-word command. He needs to get himself a dog. Possibly a robot vacuum. Something that will obey him right away, because that definitely is not me.”
Despite his grumpiness, West becomes one of the best cinnamon roll MMCs that made it so hard to put the book down, that of course I couldn’t and stayed up WAY TOO LATE to finish

“I have a vested interest in you surviving to a ripe old age, Sydney.” I tell her.
Oh, really? She says slyly. “And why is that?”
“I need time to collect on that kiss you asked me for.”

Things I love:
Dual POV
Secrets (sounds weird, but I just love the surprises!)
Race car driving
Hotel forced proximity
Wearing his clothes
Brothers/Family/Friends
Family Reunion Phone Call
All of the snark and banter!

I highly recommend this book!

This is my favorite book of the Love and Treasure series (and I enjoyed all of them) and also my favorite book by Carina Taylor so far!

Sydney and West are not only the perfect grumpy/sunshine pairing, their interactions are also the perfect mix of sweet and funny. Their banter is just the best and West’s dead pan remarks made me laugh a lot. Sydney is a real sweetheart with the right amount of sarcasm, courage, cleverness and hidden talents.

I also loved seeing all main characters from the previous books again, but I have to say I really liked that in this book (and book 1) the characters are not morally gray, even though I know a lot of people don’t mind that.

It is not really an insta love situation, but very close and the romance part sort of comes quickly, but it absolutely made sense here (forced proximity and really high stakes since we have a life or death situation) and seeing West getting protective and even sort of possessive was the best.

The suspense in this book made it even more entertaining and even though I knew we would get our HEA I kept turning pages especially when it got dangerous. It’s really perfect if you want a little thrill without having nightmares.

It’s full of fast paced action, really sweet moments and wonderful characters that make you laugh out loud. This book is definitely an adventure and I enjoyed every second of it.

* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.

West of Port is the fourth book in the Love and Treasure series. While you probably could enjoy this one just fine as a standalone, I think this is one series that is best enjoyed in order so as to avoid any spoilers that add to the reading experience as characters from those books do make appearances in this one!

I absolutely adore this entire series. Rook To King (book two) is one of my all-time favorite books, and the series as a whole is the perfect blend of adventure, humor and romance that I absolutely cannot get enough of... this one was absolutely no exception. Right from the start, I was drawn into this adventure... West truly was the perfect grump and a rather reluctant hero, which made him super fun to read. Carina Taylor is an absolute master at banter, and this one was another prime example of that. I loved the back and forth between these two... and the chemistry? Oh my goodness! It was just absolute perfection. How a story involving witnessing a murder and being on the run for your life from the mafia can also be laugh out loud funny and super swoon worthy too is a mystery... but Carina brings it all together in such an entertaining way and I loved every single second of it. This is absolutely a book and a series that you do not want to miss!

West of Port is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It does have some minor language throughout the story as well.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series & can be read as a stand-alone (though it would be most enjoyed when read in order due to seeing characters from previous books)

– this is told from Sydney & West’s points of view

– it is mentioned that a character finds a dead body (with a very brief description of what they saw)

– there are about 5 uses of the ‘a’ word for a donkey (or a variation of it)

– it is mentioned that a character is celiac (unable to eat gluten)

Review:

It took me way too long to get to this book (darn you TBR! 😅😂), but I loved it so much! I loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Sydney & West and how Sydney managed to pull West into her shenanigans. I loved the misadventure they had right from the start and how each step continued to point them into needing/wanting to stick together. I loved the past character cameos (I’ve read all the books except for World’s Worst Boyfriend so far so I know most of them really well) and their insight on the situation. It also made me really curious about what kind of mess or adventure Crew will be getting into in the next book!

Summary:

Sydney is determined to get revenge on the people who ended her father’s career. So when the perfect opportunity falls in her lap, it’s a no brainer to follow the trail set out before her. But things get ramped up when a dead body comes into play and Sydney is a witness to the crime…

West knows better than to trust anything a conman like Bodie says, but when Bodie mentions that he’s sending someone who could use West’s help and that they’re willing to pay for it, West isn’t in a place to refuse. Not with his ‘new’ boat and no steady paying job now that he’s retired from the police force. But as West already knows, anything from Bodie will be more trouble than it seems. And Sydney’s situation is the definition of trouble. West should cut his losses and refuse to have anything to do with her, but something in him can’t let her go…

This was such a fun book! I always love Carina Taylor’s books for their banter and adventure, and this one does not disappoint.
I liked Sydney from the beginning! Her commentary is hilarious, and she’s so relatable in a lot of ways. She’s such a quirky character who’s had a lot of twists and surprises in her sleeve. It was fun to see how she jumped into this adventure. I love how she surprised me and West.
West was a sweetheart! He was determined to stay far away from Sydney, but he ended up helping her and even falling for her. I loved how he protected her while still allowing her to do things for herself. Plus, his grumpiness was such a fun contrast to her sunshine personality.
The side characters in this one are so fun! We get all the cameos which I love. While you don’t need to read the other books in the series, there are cameos from other characters. And I love getting to see Sydney and West react to everyone.
This was super fun adventure romcom! I sped through it, and I was smiling and laughing the whole time.
Content Warnings: Action, mild violence, dead body, street racing, mild cussing, morally grey side characters
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

ARC Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Sydney has held a grudge against the mafia since the day they rigged her father’s boxing match. So when an opportunity arises for her to extract her revenge, she has no choice but to take it. Along with West, an ex cop and an eclectic group of cons she sets out on an adventure that is guaranteed to make some waves.

Reading Catrina Taylor’s West of Port felt like engaging in a guilty pleasure. This is a morally grey story that features morally grey characters. While it is a HUGE departure from the type of books I tend to read, it has me itching to explore this sub-genre.

If you are in the market for an intriguing, entertaining, and down right addictive read, look no further!!!

This book also features:
-Dual POVs (Sydney + West)
-Adventure
-Grumpy/ Sunshine Trope
-Forced Proximity
-Banter

*West of Port is the fourth book in the Love and Treasure series by Carina Taylor. However, it can easily be read as a standalone. I myself have not read the first two books. Despite coming into the series late I have enjoyed both books and was able to do so with no complications.

Special thanks to Carina Taylor of allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely love this series! Every book is fun and the characters are delightful (the good “bad” guys of course 😂).

I’m always up for some grumpy/sunshine dynamics and West/Sydney hit all the marks! I think Sydney is one of my favorite characters that I’ve read about in a while. She is so perky and comes up with the best things! The way she completely disarms West is the icing on the cake! And I love how West sees that she is capable (once he gets past trying to get rid of her 😂) and supports what she is doing. Sydney wanted adventure and she certainly got it! The way these two are thrown together and become attached is so sweet. I absolutely loved their story!

I think one of my favorite things about this book is the cast of characters. I was so excited to see Bodie and Gracen again! Crew and Lucky were such fun too! Plus appearances from Nick and Cleo! This story is GREAT. I will continue to gush about this series and I can’t wait for more!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is part of the Love and Treasure series, and though you could read this as a standalone, you’d be missing out on so many great characters!

This is West and Sydney’s adventure, as Bodie (from Rook to King) sends Sydney in West’s direction. From there, it’s sunshine meet thundercloud.

Sydney is seeking revenge against the Italian mafia who wronged her family and now has begrudgingly dragged West into it. This provides action and suspense and sets them on a course for adventure, as Sydney may be in way over her head.

The appearances of previous characters added so much depth as you see past friendships and even fun bromances as they give each other a hard time. But ultimately, I loved West and Sydney together. Sydney is cheerful and super sweet but scrappy. While West, a retired cop, is grumpy and snarky but very protective. They have great chemistry and witty banter which had me laughing.

This is a fun, addictive read! I can’t wait for the next book.

I don't think I've ever included an author's note in my review, but this just may be the impetus you need to pick up this book...

Author's Note:
This is an outlandish, off-the-wall, adventure rom-com. There are wild inaccuracies in police procedure and the judicial process. Oh, and a dead body. (Don't worry, not anybody we love: I only do happily ever afters here.) There's action, mild violence, and questionable choices made by certain side characters. There are mentions of street racing and mild cursing. And while this is a closed-door book, there is often a shirtless hero and steamy kisses. Brace yourselves.

West of Port is book 4 in the Love and Treasure series. While you could read this as a stand alone, it is much more enjoyable read as a series. Case in point, I loved all of the cameos from characters in previous books!

West and Sydney are grumpy/sunshine perfection. The pairing of the jaded ex-cop and the underestimated optimist hits all the right notes.

I cannot wait for Crew's book next!!!

I received a free copy of this book for review.

This engaging and joyful romcom was just what I needed after reading a few complex and emotional fantasy novels in a row ☺️. It follows a spirited woman whose attempts at revenge have left her as the target of dangerous people and a jaded retired cop who just wants to fix up his sailboat in peace.

There are elements of grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity, and more! I loved the female main character that was full of spunk and good spirits despite the grim circumstances and the unexpected ways she took things on and slowly broke down the male main character’s tough exterior. There is also adventure and intrigue and some fun appearances of characters from last books.

It could technically be read as a standalone but there is a lot of background from side characters that you will get and appreciate if you read the other Love and Treasure books first.

Trigger/content warnings: mild peril and mild language. Steam level is kissing only.
