Torie and Ryan have been battling over the pit at MudFest for three years. Every year his team, the Earth Movers, beats her team, the Mud Moppets. Sure, tug-of-war is for fun and to benefit their respective charities, but just once she'd like to hold the MudFest Cup.
But this year, things are a little different, because her feelings for Ryan aren't just competitive anymore.
A love of reading inspired Allison Merritt to pursue her dream of becoming an author who writes historical, paranormal, contemporary, and fantasy romances, often combining the sub-genres. She lives in a small town in the Ozark Mountains with her husband and dogs. It's not unusual to find her lurking in graveyards, wandering historical sites, or listening to ghost stories.
Allison graduated from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri with a B.A. in mass communications that's gathering dust after it was determined that she's better at writing fluff than hard news.
What a delightful read and fun too, the storyline of having a charity event where the winner gets to help charity by playing in the mud. This is a 'dirty' (as in mud) romantic story that I have remembered and thought about for months since I read it the first time. I remember playing and sitting down in the mud puddles as a small girl and I still play in the mud digging gold ever chance I get. I had to go back and read it again. Hope you enjoy Clear as Mud as much as I did.
Ok, very cute ESSAY. Can't really truly call this a short story can you now. Albeit a very sweet creative writing assignment my daughter might have written. But with love story qualities when it matures to a full grown story. Until then it is a very sweet fun essay. I am really glad I read it & hope you do too but would like to see the author develop it much more so we can see where these characters go.
This didn't even whet my appetite. It was so short, it's barely a scene. More than anything, it reads like an outtake from a much longer book.
It's cute, but too short to know if this could have been something good or bad. Doesn't even showcase the author and what she can or cannot do. Takes 3 minutes or less to read.
