A journey beginning on the rigorous training grounds of Star Legion's elite leads to a mysterious anomaly on a jungle world where the megasaurs still roam. The anomaly threatens to escalate a simmering cold war into full-blown galactic conflict.
Zantheon’s Secret is a tale of diplomacy, romance, interstellar warships, and personal combat. A vivid cast of characters with intertwined stories must sort friend from foe, good from evil, love from past love.
This is a good book that I'd classify as "sci-fi", but really could just be a military/strategy novel that just happens to take place in an alternate universe. It is the first novel from Will Nesbitt, and as such, it is really well written. The story line is good. The characters are good. The writing is good; it moves well from scene to scene. There's plenty of action, and some degree of world building, but the story and the characters' relationships with one another are what carry the novel. As with many sci-fi novels, there is some getting used to the names (which I think the author did a great job with, somewhat tongue-in-cheek), and as a military book, some initial learning of the ranks and units.
The author and I go way back. I knew Will when we were young RULINGs at the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center in Monterey CA about 40 years ago. Since then, he's become a husband, father, successful businessman, and now an accomplished author. Way to go, Brother. Looking forward to reading more novels from you.
