Take Her to the Grave is a dark romance novella. The themes within this novella are dark and not intended for all audiences. Please read all of the trigger warnings listed at the beginning of the book prior to diving into this book.
A full and complete blurn is coming, but I'll leave you with An unexpected chase through a dark graveyard turns into a night of erotic horror. You'll find enemies to lovers, stalking, primal play, and gothic vibes. This is a fast and hard novella, so buckle up.
Dana LeeAnn lives for the dark side of romance—the stalkier, the better. She originally used writing as an outlet to heal herself, but found it addictive, and has never stopped. Her books are packed with suspense and questionable love interests that will leave your heart racing at the turn of every page. When she’s not dreaming up new ways to torture her characters (and readers), she can be found in northern Colorado, exploring the mountains or dragging her husband into a new project around the house.
This book was so repetitive I'm convinced the author didn't know they were allowed to use new words. If I have to read 'primal' or 'truth' and 'darkness' again I might just scream.
Please check your trigger and content warnings before diving into this one.
I loved this novella so much! Elena has been visiting the cemetery so that she can talk and visit with her parents that passed away. She is a writer and spends her time writing and visiting her parents in the cemetery. Everytime she is there she always feels like she is being watched, she always feels like she has eyes on her. Elena has started noticing this feeling when she is writing, her stories are starting to turn dark and there is something that seems so real about what she is writing. Little does Elena know Torrin is in the shadows and is watching his shadow kissed queen. Ever since the moment he seen her there in the cemetery he knew that there was a certain darkness that was there.
I freaking loved how when he revealed himself to her and he told her he knew she was a writer Elena started leaving little notes in her writing for him. That melted my heart and I thought that was so sweet. She left him little notes and he would respond back to her. 🩶 I loved how Elena gave into the darkness and became what she was truly supposed to become.
"Enter a world where death is just the beginning, and true love knows no boundaries - not even the grave." This sentence is what got me interested in reading this book. This was my first time reading a vampire romance and I absolutely loved it.
I just love how he shares his power with her and lets her be his queen because usually, in books the mmc is the morally grey man and he is powerful and in control and does things for the fmc but in this book, he lets her be powerful and is proud of how she acts like a queen.
Now, in dark romance books, the mmc's can be a bit toxic at times, this guy isn't, he doesn't let jealousy take over his mind and lets her be free and do whatever she wants.
Thank you, Dana, for this ARC ♡ it was the perfect distraction from reality.
This book is a fast-paced paranormal romance Novella. There wasn't much character building, but I didn't expect any. I do love that there was actually a story, though, not just spicy scenes.
Like i said, perfect distraction, and I was able to read it in a day. I recommend if you are looking for a quick paranormal read.
3.75 ⭐️ This book exploded in my face, farted on my dignity, sinking its teeth into my jugular, and I screamed “TAKE ME” because apparently consent is optional when it’s this deliciously catastrophic.
(I am, yes talking about books here but also like…life)
It is pure vampire crack, injected straight into my circulation and I am the trembling slut in the corner begging for a second dose I have no self-respect left. Do I even exist outside of this book’s pages??Unclear.
Thus spake the gospel: This book is trash, sewage, a flaming crypt of gothic filth. Yet I devoured it like the bitch I am
I’ve have been edging a book slump and this type ridiculous perfection of book is what is saving me rn
I don't know why it is written 'Dark R' but actually, it is not. Even the cover of the book screams DR:(
This was quite short and very clean. But the whole thing was so repetitive and confusing that I could say that this story had not been written from heart.
The pacing was good and consistent through the story. Clocking in as just over 100 pages it was a good morning read.
I am familiar with the author and her other works. This story is not nearly as dark as the others. But has a sense of a dark whimsical romance of hunter/hunted. This one is more plot heavy than spice but there is spice in the book.
Elena is an author worrying about darkness, monsters, etc. she’s a published author who still grieves years after her parents are gone. An odd girl who wander the graveyard and just never quite fit in. She has to make a choice: go back to living a normal life or finally accept what is to become.
“This is no ordinary grieving daughter. This is someone who feels the depths of darkness.”
Torrin, a several centuries year old vampire, has been watching over our FMC for years. Unknowingly to her. As they finally meet and learn more about one another. Their love begins to grow stronger with every encounter.
“If you only knew how right things are about to become.”
I personally would recommend for fans of: Interview with a Vampire Dark Beauty and the Beast retellings Intimate dance sequences A splash of a well written Twilight
I loved this novella. It was small but so freaking amazing. Torrin was obsessed with Elena. He wanted her and he was going to have her. He waited years, never forcing her to anything. Everything was at her rythm, she dictated the pace. She was his queen, his equal, his forever. Elena was lost after losing her parents and when she met Torrin something clicked. She craved the darkness he brought and she couldn't explain why, she just wanted to be with him and to in his world. They were so powerful together and their kingdom prospeted thanks to them. They were majestic and I love them
Livro demasiado repetitivo, sempre as mesmas expressões. Não é um slow burn, é pior que isso, porque não há desenvolvimento nenhum.. lamento, mas só porque um vampiro queima outro isto não pode ser considerado dark.. 🤦🏻♀️ já li thrillers com mais "dark" que isto!!
Take Her To The Grave is a slow dance between a writer who’s always been fascinated by darkness and a Vampire who’s been waiting for her for a long time. The idea of this novella was quite fun, it felt like walking through a moody fog. The vampires in this were also different, which was refreshing. Honestly, I just went with the flow, but I couldn’t say that it retained my curiosity that much. I’m grateful for the arc opportunity🖤
Ps: this novella is different from Dana’s usual books and it was nice to experience!
where do i even begin. i loved this novella so so so much. there wasn’t much character development, but i knew that going into it. it was a short read but addicting at the same time.
Torrin knew he wanted Elena from the get go but waited YEARS to have her. He never rushed her or forced her into anything she wasn’t ready for. But this man also knew what he wanted and wasn’t willing to let it go. Elena was in charge here. She just didn’t know it yet.
“You’re more perfect than words will ever be able to express”
Elena finally met Torrin and not once was she thrown off by him. If anything she met him head on and was just as bold as he was. Elena lost her parents and hasn’t been the same since. Meeting Torrin gave her the courage to face who she really was. She craved darkness and discovered a whole new side of herself. Torrin felt the same way, like he found his other half.
“ I understand now,” I whisper to their spirits. “Why i was drawn to write about darkness. Why i never quite fit in the light. I’m not running from your memory - I’m embracing what i was always meant to be.”
“ But you were the first who made me feel understood without ever having to exchange words first. Your writing was more than enough.”
Torrin and Elena are a match made in heaven. They were so powerful together. This book was amazing and i loved them.
ARC Review: First off, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to read this early! I went in blind, not knowing anything about the book, I literally just saw paranormal arc and here I am! I’m soooo glad I didn’t read the blurb because it just added the perfect amount of mystery and suspense
Goth Queen and a hot vampire? Yes please 😩 and the chemistry? Out of this world 👏
I loved the writing style! It had a lot of paranormal elements wrapped into one and I liked the concept of accepting the darker parts of yourself and accepting who you are. It was a quick read, but a good one.
Torrin is delicious 🤤 he’s so supportive of her and doesn’t push her too hard into accepting and loving herself, but guides her to it (and absolutely obsessed, like his stalking skills are next level bc ya know… he’s immortal)
Elena has a great balance between funny and bad@ss inner monologue. “Having one-sided conversations with corpses – that's serial killer behavior, isn't it?” Like, yes girl, it is, but it’s okay because he’s hot 😂
Not a lot of spice, but the content of the spice made up for it. Vampire blood play is sooooo hot 🥵
“Not only is his body sculpted like a god, but he’s hung like a f*cking god.”
I recommend if you like hot vampires who can defend you in the streets and talk dirty in the sheets 😉
“Careful what you wish for, little ghost. I might think you’re getting too comfortable with monsters.” Sir, I would GLADLY get comfortable with you 🥴
This was my first vampire romance and I absolutely loved it! I think I have found a new obsession!! I loved how Elena and Torrin immediately connected and how he waited to show himself until she was ready. Elena is an author who writes about the darkness, but little does she know that she was meant for the darkness. Torrin could see how special Elena was and knew she was meant to be his queen. Elena knows she has this darkness in her and she willingly accepts it. After 4 long years, Elena finally becomes torrins queen and together they are both so powerful! They both refuse to serve in someone else’s court and instead rule their own together! This book wasn’t as spicy as I typically like my books, but I had no problem with it. The story kept me hooked and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. These two together are incredible! My only complaint is that this book wasn’t longer. I hope that in the future, I get to see more of Torrin and Elena!
Dana, your writing could never disappoint me! I am truly so grateful to be apart of your team and to be able to arc read all of your amazing books! I definitely need more vampire dark romance books from you in the future!!
ARC Review ✨ First I would like to say a big thank you to Dana for letting me be apart of this ARC Team! Rate: 5/5⭐️ Spice: 1.5/5🌶️
What to expect when reading Take Her to the Grave; -Novella -Vampire MMC -Primal Play -Gothic Vibes -Graveyard
Ummm yes!!! This was perfect! I think I’m in love with a vampire lol Torrin was the perfect amount of eerie vibes! Elena was the perfect amount of goth queen. I wish I had a little more spice between the two main characters but still very enjoyable chemistry. This was so different then I think your normal vampire books the journey it took you on flowed and honestly I want more of these two!
Fav Quote: “because I want you to choose this- choose me”
Make sure you get the book when it releases Nov. 8th🖤 #bookstagram #romance #review
I am very sad to give this book a low rating, and I feel this is just due to my personal preference because I like the author’s writing style, as you can tell from my review of Thrill of the Hunt.
This book is no different; I like the writing, and the interesting tropes drove me to read it. Unfortunately, this book was simply not for me.
The fast pace didn’t give me the opportunity to relate to any of the characters, and the shift from an ordinary girl to queen of darkness was too rushed—it felt a bit forced. I would have preferred these 100 pages to focus on a smaller situation with more detail, making it easier for readers to sympathize with the FMC's choices.
"I'm going to take you apart piece by piece," he continues, his voice hypnotic. "Break down every wall you've built, every defense, every illusion of safety. And when you're completely undone..." His lips brush my ear, making me shudder. "When you're desperate and aching and begging for the darkness... that's when I'll make you mine forever."
I’ve been getting more and more into paranormal reads and this was my first vampire story and honestly I very much enjoyed it. It was a super short story but the plot and story line was amazingly told in this novella. If you love a good paranormal romance then this story is exactly what you are looking for! 10/10 read for me without a doubt!
I actually went in blind reading this as an arc. I just applied because anything dana writes is top tier 🖤 I definitely wasn't expecting vampires, though 😅 I'm not a big paranormal romance reader, but I couldn't put this down. This is probably my 8th vampire romance book in the last 2 years, and I would read more if dana is writing it 🫶🏻 The spice, storyline, plot, just everything kept me captivated from start to finish. More than 5 stars, and I highly recommend this to everyone. Even to others who are like me and don't normally read this, will absolutely love this. Thank you, dana, for the ARC also! This took me out of a reading slump and wanting more vampire books now, with a lot of spice 🥵🖤🖤
Take her to the grave Dana LeeAnn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️ ‘I've spent years writing about women who dance with darkness, who find freedom in surrendering to their monsters. Now that I'm living it, how can I possibly walk away?’ This book is such a cool take and such a unique view on the dark vampire romance trope. I didn’t expect it to be so perfect and adorable and dark all at the same time. I really really enjoyed it. There is a lot of story packed into this small little novella "When you're desperate and aching and begging for the darkness... that's when I'll make you mine forever."
I’m grateful for the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book. Thank you so much 🖤 I finished it in one sitting, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite work for me. Don’t get me wrong—I liked the MMC, and the writing was, as always, on point. I tried, but I just don’t connect with the whole vampire thing 😟
So, to be honest, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this book; it’s just a matter of personal preference. 🖤🖤🖤
5🌟 3🔥 I absolutely ATE this up! I can't thank Dana enough for entrusting me with Arc reading this for her.🖤
The way she weaves the scenes and characters into such beautifully crafted, tangible beings is amazing. I always try to ARC blind and this story is one of the biggest reasons why. If you're a visual reader like I am, this story will draw you in, then place you in a cozy corner to watch their fate unravel.
If you love a fantasy read that isn't an obvious fantastical setting but grounded in reality, this is a necessity for your TBR. You won't regret it. I will be grabbing a copy for my bookcase in hardcover when it's available!
If you know anything about my buying habits, you know I only buy books I thoroughly LOVE. Paperback, is a love, but Hardcover.... those are top 10!
A three hundred+ year old vampire who’s been waiting for his shadow kissed queen?! SIGN ME TF UPPPP🙂↕️
I think I’ve definitely been in a vampire mood because the way I sat in my bed and read this cover to COVER was wild lol! Who wouldn’t want their own vampire king to come whisk them away and make them his queeeeeen🤭
Torrin and Elena were written in the stars, full stop. This man has been watching her for years now, and she’s been calling out to him. Now that he’s answered, he’s never letting her go and I LOVED how she matched his energy! Elena is such a baddie, and she knows her worth with all she’s been through. OBSESSED with these 2 and I can’t wait for more🥹
ARC REVIEW If you love a gothic vampire story this is the one for you. I am not huge into fantasy or paranormal but this one I ate up in my free time. The love, passion, and desire between the FMC AND MMC was intoxicating and makes still now that I’m done with it want more from them. I also wanna thank you author for choosing me as an ARC reader for this book and sharing this with me to review for you all! I can’t wait for more from this author and future stories! !PLEASE READ TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING!!!
Whoa! This novella was done so well! The author has done an outstanding job with this novella, which differs from her usual writing style! The story is engaging and fast-paced, with a compelling vampire theme that sets it apart. The consistent pacing kept me hooked from the first page, making it difficult to put down. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wish it were longer, because now I need more!!
I love Dana’s imagination! I’m also a sucker for vampire books, so when I seen she wrote one…immediately need to read! Torrin is everything us fantasy lovers want in a vampire and Dana’s is good at writing the female characters we love, strong, resistant until the end and then naturally give in. I loved every second of this book. I only gave it 4 stars because there was a lot of repeating of phrases. Another need for my bookshelf by her!
Take Her to the Grave is a quick and entertaining dark romance novella with gothic vibes, stalking, and primal play. The pacing is fast, making it feel like an addictive fanfiction—in the best way. While the story was engaging, I found it surprisingly light despite the promised dark themes. I was hoping for something a bit grittier, but it was still an enjoyable, quick read.
Perfect for when you want a short, thrilling escape.
