Lady Kora has lived every day of her 300 years behind the stone walls of her family's estate. Yearning for something more, now on the eve of the most important night of her life everything is about to change.
Damien is a slayer - a whore to his sword, paid to take the heads of vampires. Given a task of ridding the last Ancient from a village, he's on edge. The spirits tell him something is coming - something that will have far reaching consequences beyond this night.
The slayer and the vampire drawn together by the fates, their bodies burning with lust can they survive sin's bite?
Canadian author Patricia Bates writes dark and edgy historical and contemporary suspense romances. Because to bleed is to survive, but it's by loving that we truly live.
There wasn't anything I particularly loved about this book. It wasn't bad, just nothing really stands out.
What I Didn't Like:
I didn't feel connected to the characters at all. It was erotic, yes, but it would have been more so if we'd been given more time to get to know the characters.
My Overall Review:
This book is about 11 pages long, 20 pageturns if you are reading a Kindle at a small-sized font. That being said, I have read other short stories within erotica and they all had some decent plotset-ups, so I don't hold this lack-of-plot or character connection as understandable. Is it difficult to make readers connect to characters in so little time? Yes- but it can be done. Besides, while the words themselves evoke sexual connotations, true eroticism happens when a reader is intimately connected to the characters engaging in the sexual acts.
That being said, if you are looking for an erotic paranormal story just to get turned on, this might be your book. If you like substance and character development- skip it.

I was recently reading a bunch of short stories in order to bide time until I start my Spring Challenges March 1. I figured this was a good time to clean off my Kindle of all of these books that cannot be used in a challenge. Sin's Bite was one of them and as I write this review I cannot remember one thing that happened in the book. Nothing memorable that stands out and nothing that I would want to read again. I am rating this 2 stars only for the reason I do not remember anything that I actually hated so I guess that is a good thing!
This vampire-slayer story had a completely different style to it, and I absolutely enjoyed it! I loved how it sounded as if Damien himself is vampire, or at least part-how does this work I don't know, since the author didn't explain it at all :( -and that Lady Kora can 'calm the beast' inside of him. Lady Kora also seems to have been waiting for Damien. It's truly a good, enjoyable, and very sweet and short read!
This is really well written from the very first word. You can feel the wind blowing through the castle and smell the scent of blood in the air. Would love to see this author write something long-form along these lines.
