Ezra Knight is the biggest rockstar to ever walk the planet, but before he belonged to the world, he belonged to me.

He was my brother’s best friend, my soulmate and protector, and when their band—Demon’s Curse—took off, so did he.

He was like a roaring tornado, crashing through my world and sweeping me off my feet, and just when I had it all, I was abandoned. Left to fend for myself at the hands of a monster. For eight long years, I blamed him for everything that was out of his control.

But one phone call changed it all.

And when Lenny Davidson—the head of Louder Records—calls to offer you the world, you scoop it up with both hands. Only that offer comes with strings attached. Strings that are tied directly to Ezra Knight, leaving me with one hell of a choice to make.

Take the job as the new head of marketing for Demon’s Curse’ and have to face the man who crushed you every single day, or wave goodbye to everything you’ve ever worked for.

What could possibly go wrong?

the “i love you so much you’re my soulmate but i’m gonna fuck a new girl everyday” mmc and the “i never got over you and can’t be with anyone else” fmc will never be a good storyline to me in second chance romances

I love a rockstar romance that actually focuses on touring, the band, travelling the world etc and this book delivers on that and then some!

It’s a childhood friends to lovers/second chance rockstar romance, its emotionally, it’s full of yearning & angst and has such a wonderful found family feeling 🥹

Now for about 60% of this book I was so confused why it was called a ‘dark’ rockstar romance because I didn’t feel like it was dark… until it was. The storyline with Rae’s dad is DARK (to the point where I was giving it 5 stars until I wasn’t) it’s very graphic, so be warned. I felt like actually this book and Rae and Ezra’s story really didn’t need to paired with this to make this book amazing, but it was definitely difficult to read. I LOVEDDD the first 50% and it slightly lost me a bit towards the end which is where the storyline with Rae’s dad came in

That being said, I also love that Ezra wasn’t your typical fuck boy rockstar he never shied away from his love for Rae and it was such a breath of fresh air.

I loved this story, one of the best rockstar romances I’ve read 🩷

Oh
My
Flipping
Goodness

I don’t even know what to say or explain how much I loved the torment this book put me through! I’ve never loved a couple so much and wished for their HEA while also not able to comprehend how their broken pieces could fit again!
I cried so hard! And for a cold hearted biatch like myself that’s saying something!
The way the character development goes is satisfying and realistic. While also bringing to light their torment in a way that relates to the story.
The chemistry was off the charts and truly like soulmates connecting & creating art with their broken pieces.

I did feel like any withdrawal symptoms were glossed over from the drug usage & could have been touched on a bit more but overall satisfying enough to the story.

Yet another incredible book from this author & a great stand alone! Although I’m secretly wishing for some of the other characters spin offs 😉

Too much Ick..... Detailed Incest rape is a hard pass. If I could just bleach my brain of those chapters, it was a good emotional read but that super in depth scene (iykyk) ruined the whole vibe.

There is no trigger warning for Incest either... Rape is bad enough but familial rape is extra trigger... It should be listed.

Holes…meet plot!

So. Much. Confusion after reading this one. The synopsis sounded good and I’ve enjoyed other books by this author but this one was pretty bad. I felt like the FMC’s personality was all over the place. One minute she’s barely making it and living out of her car, the next minute (literally) she’s this super self confident boss B?! Like, if she’s had all this trauma and was barely surviving, it would take some time to make some mental progress as a person (imo)…but nope! She just dives in head first and is instantly this amazing marketing hot head for the band bc she helped them make posters when she was young and helped take care of a few things. She was only like 13-16!! No way would she have the experience to instantly be some marketing manager genius at the drop of a hat, especially with what she’s been dealing with over the last 8 years.

And then yes..the plot holes…nothing made sense in this book! Like what happened with the mom, why lie about what happened with the brother?! It was all a huge let down after building so much suspense and the questions were never really answered. Then to make it seem like the FMC and MMC were these tortured soulmates was a huge stretch. He kept repeating she was his forever and he never wanted to leave her but he had no problem up and going off to party while they were still “together?” And then leaving her cold turkey with no communication after they were signed bc it would “be too hard for her?” … for 8 years?!? And then they just magically are a couple and he quits his rockstar, man whore ways immediately when she shows up and starts talking about building a life together and having kids! What? 1000% unbelievable.

Don’t get me started on the assault…it comes out of left field and it never really says why the dad was that way. It’s one thing to lose someone and fall into a drunken mess and be abusive but this was on another level. To be that kind of person and never have shown any signs (or did he??) is not believable. One minute it implies (but never confirms) he was possibly abusive towards the mom but later she’s going through stuff looking at all the happy memories of when her brother and parents were the perfect family? Were they or weren’t they? We will never know! And to have what happened be detailed out from the past and then make it happen again in the future (not to mention how it was done) was honestly kind of sickening to have the reader go through. Trauma in a story is one thing but this was done for dramatic effect and was in poor taste in my opinion. It just didn’t really fit with the backstory and seemed unnecessary.

Last but not least…her brother’s money and assets after he dies. He was her best friend and they really only had each other and were super close but she just assumes he would rather give all his money to charity vs help take care of her if anything ever happened, and doesn’t even question it or ask? And it was all taken by her dad bc he signed some papers with her name via mail and opened an account to have it sent to? Pretty sure that’s not how that works and there would have to be many instances of speaking with her to confirm identity, etc. He was a world famous rockstar…there would have been teams of people handling his assets and meeting with her to go over everything. It wouldn’t have been a simple mailing of papers for a signature… come on!! The whole thing made no sense and seemed really silly or stupid… not sure which. But I guess that makes sense given that was pretty much the theme of the whole book.

First half was so cringe🥴 👀 ngl I was tempted to dnf the only thing that stopoed me was once I start a book I need to finish it or my anxiety goes highkey wild 💀😩 & I hate dnfing, so I was hoping lowkey for a glow up so I push forward & it started getting a little better but bruhhh the whiplash of emotions 😱they were confusing asf 😱 they wanted to be w each other but then they kept pushing each other & complicating things, like life has enough drama 😒 don’t make things harder for yourself yk?👺 it was like that for the longest time 🥸 it dragged a lot def could have been a shorter book, I did not felt a connection w the MCs ig that’s a big factor for me not being fully invested & taking me a lot of time to read it, your gna like the side characters Axel 😩😩 im still not over it, so unexpected (def WNA SCREAM,PUNCH,KILL& hate someone in specific w everything in you 😠 im still, as im writing this, HEARTBREAKING❤️‍🩹HARD TO DIGEST 🙄), IMO it needed a lot of character development & there were parts that didn’t make sense at all for me, but I did enjoy the healing journey of the FMC through out the book make me so proud of her, step by step overcoming that darkness & the way she leveled up just by pushing thru everything she faced wow 🫡 total respect fr, I just wanted her to be happy & at peace 🥹🥹 she deserved it! & the way Ezra was always there for her one way or another & help her heal 🫶🏼 he’s a total babygirl
Their love stayed solid thru all the drama, setbacks broken promises & pain🖤✨
He writes every song to her 🥹 so she always knew what he was feeling, even apart 🫠 & name his band after her 🔥 I rlly need to date a rockstar 👀🙏🏻😩
He gets a tattoo for her 😮‍💨😮‍💨
def a lot of worth highlighting quotes!

“He was everything to me—the other half of my soul. We were the sweetest symphony, so perfectly in sync, but we were too young. I was too young.”

“the one who never gave up, and the only man in my life who didn’t break me.”

“but I’m broken beyond repair, and I don’t know how to claw my way out of the darkness”

“We always had a connection, an invisible string that tied us together” swifites rise 🤓

“There’s only one thing, one person, capable of making this pain recede in my chest, but despite being only a few feet away, she’s so out of reach that I’ll never be able to catch her.

“If only they never left. If only I had been honest with them, this never would have happened. I’d be safe in his arms, away from the monster who sleeps down the hall.”

“I know, Rae. I feel it every time you look at me. Every time you’re in the same room as me. Every time you say my name, it’s there. You don’t need to tell me, not when everything you are is so tightly bound to me. I’m not letting you go, Rae. You’re home now.”

“It’s always been you, Rae. You’ve been my endgame from day one, and I’m done waiting for something we both know we want. I’m not waiting for a hypothetical anything anymore. I’m yours. Every fucking part of me. I’ve always been yours.”

“I’m his and he’s mine. There’s no more hypothetical about it.”

“As long as you’re breathing, Rae, I’ll be right here, on my knees, begging for more”

This has to be one of my top books written by Sheridan Anne. One day, Axel brought Ezra home and decided that he was going to start a band with his new friend when his sister Raleigh saw him, she was enamored. Of course she didn’t want her brother to know that.
She helped them their band and their manager of course at the time she was only 13 and they were 16.
In the store we go back-and-forth between the timelines we see parts of when the band was formed and Raeligh helping them. Her and Ezra becoming friends. Them getting picked up by a label and going out on their first tour, leaving her behind.
This is a dark romance and contains dark content. I highly recommend you looking into the authors notes before reading this as the content mention is on page and not just mentioned in passing.
I found myself laughing and crying, and I read this book so fast that I finished it in about four hours. This is probably going to be one of my top five books of the year at the end of the year and my top favorite book by Sheridan that she’s ever written. to be thinking about this daily for a very long time and hope that I can get a signed copy at some point because I am obsessed with Ezra and Raleigh’s story.

referring to this as tame dark romance is a joke

I knew as soon as I started and I saw Sheridan Anne, I should’ve stopped but the synopsis pulled me in.

1) Amazon needs to stop skipping directly to chapter 1 without letting me know content warning is there!! BECAUSE I WOULDVE LIKED TO KNOW PRIOR TO IT HAPPENING!!
2) in€est should’ve been on the list - BECAUSE WHAT THE WHAT WAS THAT?!
3) the brother and mom both die mysteriously but like not really??? Why word it that way if you never come back around.
4) knowing she was assaulted, having to read it in the past AND THEN AGAIN AS AN ADULT?! WHYYYYY

TRULY - it was a decent enough book until all the sexual assault and even with the CW, I don’t think it was needed.

But again, that’s on me- I know how a Sheridan Anne book goes and I should’ve stopped myself.

AND ANOTHER THING - what was that reference to the mom?! She was unsettled when he came home and put his hand on her and then the dad referencing “breaking her” WHY.. what did it mean?! Why

Like … the synopsis brought me in and yet nothing could’ve prepared me except knowing how other Sheridan Anne books have gone.

This was a good rockstar romance and my favourite book by this author so far.

There were a couple of things (the inheritance mainly) what I was wondering about, but everything was pretty much resolved at the end.

I couldn’t take it anymore I had to stop reading.
The book doesn’t make any sense, it’s all over the place. Not to mention disgusting in some places.
The “I love you but I can be with anyone and still hope that one day we will be together while I hope I get to be your first” is freaking repulsive. Love isn’t like this. Love isn’t abandoning your loved one for eight years without making effort to make it work.
The situation of the father is confusing 🫤
The personality of the FMC is disturbing
The MMC clearly doesn’t know the definition of love.

"Yeah, well, two broken halves don't make a whole. It just makes an even bigger mess."

Falling for your brother’s best friend is something, for him to feel just as strong about you is wonderful. But for him to abandon you after getting a record deal is heartbreaking. Rae gets left behind under the guise of her needing to grow up, finish school before she is ready for that life. But leaving someone behind can have devastating consequences, something Rae finds out and has to learn to live with.

"I know, Rae. I feel it every time you look at me. Every time you're in the same room as me. Every time you say my name, it's there. You don't need to tell me, not when everything you are is so tightly bound to me. I'm not letting you go, Rae. You're home now."

The first chapter already had me siding with Rae and completely annoyed with Ezra. The history and bond between them were so intense and for him to walk away was just unbelievable! As the story progresses the reasons why are made clear, but I feel like they fell flat so he is still a jerk in my opinion. The anger Rae has towards him is so warranted, even with the extenuating circumstances back home. To be so betrayed by the one you thought was the love of your life breaks you beyond repair.

“Tears sting my eyes as the closeness somehow sews the shattered remains of my heart back together, breathing oxygen into the dark depth of my tortured soul, and filling me with the kind of light I've been searching for since the day he left. With every kiss and caress, he makes me whole again.”

This story isn’t as dark as it could be, but it is heartbreaking at points, the trails and tribulations these two go through aren’t easy and they had a long way to go before they got their HEA. It is a whirlwind of emotions and situations wrapped up in a rockstar setting.

It was a beautiful story, just like every single one Sheridan writes. I will always encourage you to read them, they never disappoint. Midnight stage was an amazing read!

"It's always been you, Rae. You've been my endgame from day one, and I'm done waiting for something we both know we want. I'm not waiting for a hypothetical anything anymore. I'm yours. Every fucking part of me. I've always been yours."

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Midnight Stage is a brothers best friend, dark Rockstar Romance. Let me start off by saying this book wrecked me. I don't usually tear up while reading, but this book got to me.

This book is about Raleigh and Ezra and is told from both of their points of view. Raleigh has a crush on Ezra and when he starts a band with her brother Axel. Axel and Raleigh and she helps out with the band. However, Axel and Ezra break Raleigh when they leave to tour without her.

Now, years later something brings them back together. Both have feelings for each other, but both have also been through so much while being apart.

So much happens in this book. Lots of secrets, lies, and so much more. Will Ezra and Raleigh be able to get through all the stuff that was thrown at them? Will they get their happy ending? I really hope there is more to this series, with the side characters!

"Quiero que estés en mi cama. En mi vida. En todo mi maldito mundo. Quiero despertar cada mañana y que lo primero que vea seas tú. Lo primero que sienta seas tú. Lo primero que escuche fue a ti. Siempre has sido tú "

3.5/5 rounded up

I have read a ton of this authors books, and usually, it's an immediate 5 star. I didn't hate this one but didn't love it either. All the parts I love about her writing and her books are there. I think I just didn't connect much with the characters themselves. I found both Rae and Ezra to be really immature. The amount of issues that could have been resolved if they had just talked to each other. I get Rae not really wanting to talk about what happened to her. But Ezra completely ignoring her for 6 years? And Axel, just letting it happen? Them taking off without a second glance? It didn't endear them to me. Now I absolutely ADORE madds! She's a real girls girl! She was there for every low and high that Rae had. She didn't push her unless absolutely needed. Madds stuck by her and loved Rae for her. Not because of who her brother was and what Rae could do for her. I also fell completely in love with the atmosphere of the story. I love how the author built up the story and handled Rae's trauma. She deserved better, but she's happy, and I think that's the best part of the story.

That was ok until 85%.
Not good, not wow. But ok.
And then, it was the most chaotic, unrealistic ending ever.

And for the record, Portugal is near the Atlantic Ocean. Not the Pacific. That was awkward.

This book was absolutely everything and then some! I was completely sucked in from the start and felt everything the characters did. The pain, love, lust, loss, sadness, anger. I laughed, cried, my heart broke. I will never stop recommending this book!

This is a dark, second chance, brother’s best friend, romance. Raleigh’s brother and his best friend, Ezra, are part of a very well known band and make the choice to leave her behind to tour. They think they’re doing the right thing but it sets off a string of events Raleigh has to endure.

Years later Raleigh is back in Ezra’s orbit but can she forgive him for leaving her behind? Can they find their way back to one another now that they’re adults?

This will might be my top read of the year so far! HIGHLY recommend!

This was another amazing standalone by Sheridan Anne!!! I could not put this book down & devoured it in under 24 hours!!!

Please make sure to check trigger warnings before reading this book.

Raleigh & Ezra definitely took me on a massive emotional rollercoaster with their story!!! It had absolutely everything in it, heartbreak, redemption & betrayal.

I absolutely love the way in which Ezra would describe his feelings for Rae & that once he realised he wanted her, there was no stopping him from expressing himself.

Both of them had to learn to heal from their pasts before being able to find their way back to each other to create the future that they had always dreamed of.

I also loved the side characters in this book. They helped to round out the story but didn't distract from the main characters. I have to say Madds was my stand-out favourite from the very start!!!

Some of the themes/tropes in this book are:

*Found Family
*First Love
*Love/Hate Relationship
*Death
*Grief
*Abuse
*Rockstar Romance
*Drug & Alcohol Use

I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of this book & this is my honest opinion.

Midnight Stage was a 3.5 star for me. It wasn't my new favorite romance, but it did scratch an itch that I didn't know needed to be scratched. I have very conflicting feelings towards this book, so let's get into it. If you weren't already warned, this review is going to contain spoilers because I need to include specific details to back my points.

First off, the story was extremely predictable. There were absolutely no surprises. Usually, I'm pretty oblivious, and I admire when authors use good foreshadowing, but even I knew everything that was going to happen. I knew that something happened between Raeleigh and her father, I had an inkling that someone was going to die, and I was aware that she wouldn't be in that hotel room alone...you get my point. But I personally like a little unknowingness when reading books and everything was so predictable from the start. There were, in my opinion, a couple of plot holes I couldn't get behind. For example, (spoilers) Raeleigh and her brother, Axel, live in the same house together with the same drunk father, and you're trying to tell me that Axel never suspected that their father might be getting a little too frisky with his sister? I just think it's a bit...far-fetched. Not to mention that the love interest, Ezra, also hung out at the house a lot and was around Raeleigh most of the time during the flashbacks. I find it hard to believe that neither of them noticed anything weird going on nor considered that something bad might happen if they leave her alone with her father.

Besides those two points, I also thought the conflict/hate that Raeleigh and Ezra had for each other didn't last long enough to make an impact. They literally go from being cold and distant from each other to wanting to bang and hold each other within 100 pages. I get that the soulmate troupe is supposed to be the reason they get back together so quickly, but that's what totally kills any of the conflict between them. Then Axel's death...his death came too early. There wasn't enough build-up to it or enough development to his character to make it meaningful. Sure, we get more development throughout the story. However, because his death came so soon, there wasn't any emotional impact. And then there's the blame game. Why should either Ezra or Raeleigh feel responsible for Axel's death when neither of them had any control over it?

I know I'm ranting. I do have good things to say about Midnight Stage. I loved the rockstar aesthetic! Reading about Demon's Curse playing shows and dealing with fame and their label was entertaining. Seeing the flashbacks of when they got their band name, how they started playing together, and how Raeleigh was helping promote them was so fun to read. Raeleigh and Ezra are a genuine cute couple. They have some incredibly sweet moments together and say some amazing quotes to each other. I did enjoy myself despite the flaws. If you're looking for a darker version of A Thousand Boy Kisses with a hint of Things We Left Behind, yhis might be for you.

Please read the trigger warnings before reading this book. It explores dark topics such as grief, death, and sexual assault.

a true one star

One star cause I had to. There was so much wrong with this. The first couple chapters were cute. The next part of the book finishes with the MFC so broken cause her too old for her teenage crush leaves to fulfill his dream. Her best friend, big brother doesn’t see her for YEARS 🙄 but calls occasionally. There is a hidden plot point that would be too much of a spoiler to put on an Amazon review but at the end of the book with the way the MFC acts during certain times with her man you start to wonder WTH.

Second chance rock star romance at its best.

Rae and Ezra were clearly right people, wrong time when they were younger, but when Rae gets a call to have her dream job, but must help her long lost love clean up his act, will she sink or swim?

The angst is there on both sides for Rae and Ezra. Could some of their stuff been cleared up with a conversation? Sure. But love, hurt, and heartbreak do crazy things, and sometimes those things end up hurting us more.

What I love about this story is that it doesn’t shy away from the rockstar lifestyle and it perpetuated in “the life”. There’s drugs, booze, girls, and tons of bad habits.

As usual, Sheridan has a strong bff bond, witty banter, and gives all the heartfelt moments (good and bad). If you’re looking for a rockstar romance with ups and downs, emotionally tortured characters with baggage, then this book is for you!

I really enjoyed this one and wish it was a series. I’d love to read about the other guys in the band. The only reason this isn’t a full five stars for me is because of chapter 31/32. I understand the author’s motive for writing that scene but I felt like it was a little much and wasn’t necessary for the story to progress. I almost feel like it shouldn’t have been her father, but maybe a step brother? Idk. Other than that, I couldn’t put this book down!

This book has it all. A burning rockstar romance, dirty dirty spice, a soulmates love story that didn’t make me want to puke by how cliche it was and it evoked some of the strongest emotions I have experienced to date while reading.

Please check the triggers and content warnings before reading as this was no joke in the dark romance realm.

This book made me smile, sweat, laugh and cry at different moments and it takes an incredible author to convey each of these emotions and wrap the book up leaving me wanting more.

This is my new fave by Sheridan Anne but with each new release she blows me away more and more and I am ready for what she has prepared for us next.

This was such a great book! As always, Sheridan Anne is able to pull together a great story with all the needed drama and tension to make it fast-paced, without relying on any of the typical third act breakup or miscommunication tropes.

The cast of characters are so interesting, and you’re immediately sucked in as a fan of the band. Each member is so different and has so much depth, that I almost feel like I’m a fangirl despite never being able to hear a song.

The FMC is a strong female lead, and it’s easy to root for her throughout her journey. There’s a lot of ups and downs, and while the book is heartbreaking, it’s fun to see it all come together at the end.

As with any of Sheridan Anne’s books, please make sure to check trigger warnings if you’re looking to avoid any dark themes.

Thanks to Sheridan Anne & team for a complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book sucked me in at page one and didn’t spit me back out until the very end!

Ezra and Raleigh were absolutely meant for each other but life is a shitter sometimes and be warned you will be reminded of that fact several times in this book!

I adored the main characters in this book and Ezra is 100000% my new book boyfriend but I think the fact that I fell in love with the side characters just as much is what blew me away the most. I think this one is a standalone but I would give anything to read Dylan and Madd’s story!!

Sheridan Anne - who hurt you?!? I did not expect to go on the greatest emotional rollercoaster ever created and yet I did! By page 100 my heart was ripped to shreds by page 200 it was starting to mend together as by the end of the book I was completely and utterly in love with Ezra Knight and in total awe of the strength in Raleigh Stone!! This is by far one of my favorite reads of the entire year!

I don’t know how she does it, but every time she gets me. Rae and Ezra’s story starts of when they are young and before the band takes off into international stardom. As they grew deep secrets are revealed and the separation they had is healed.
Their love story is something else. This one had me feeling all the feels with everything our poor Rae goes through.
