This book was great and definitely something I wish I had when I was a teenager. The author does such a great job bringing the book to life with the characters and descriptions. I felt like I was in the book. The plot is attention grabbing and I couldn’t put the book down. Worth the read! Can’t wait to read more from Sarah!
This book is excellent! The plot develops a little like an Agatha Christie mystery. The plot has a series of cliffhangers and red herrings that keep the reader guessing. The time travel serial killer is part of a series of surprises toward the end of the book that will keep you turning pages.
Years ago, while we were in the UCLA Extension Fiction and Creative Writing Program, I had the opportunity to critique a different draft of Sarah's novel. I looked forward to reading her first published novel and was not disappointed.
The story shows us what it was like to be a teenager in the 1980s, enjoying life while dealing with family, school, and life-changing problems. That is enough to appeal to young adults, and it goes further with challenges that even adults find difficult.
For science fiction and fantasy fans, it offers a unique perspective on time travel. What we see happens is believable yet surprising since it does not follow traditional and perhaps overused storylines.
Putting all this together, we have a story that is a page-turner. It is hard to put the book down. Our interest in how time travel works grows along with our concern about the dangers our favorite characters face. The plot is embedded in the story and draws us along without drawing attention to itself. It is a well-crafted story.
The story ends with a hint of something more to come. What will it be? When might that be? When the story is ready to be told, I will be glad to be one of the first to buy and read it. I’d say get and enjoy this book and watch for future books.
I found myself connecting with this book on multiple levels. Being an only child, I particularly appreciated the dynamics between the siblings. The story took an unexpected twist when the identity of the killer was unveiled. There's something thrilling about being completely surprised until the very end. I absolutely love that!
Wow, what a wild ride! All These Threads of Time was unlike any time travel novel I've read. It felt influenced by a mix of Back to the Future, Loki tv series, and a little Marvel multiverse blended with a TGIF teen show all wrapped up in a small town murder mystery. (If you're asking, "Is that a good thing?" you bet it was.) Seeing all the 80s references was super fun, too. When the killer was finally revealed, it was a "woah, this is heavy, Doc" kind of moment and not all all who I suspected. The ending chapter held far too many mixed emotions, a few tears, and an exclamation of "What? Really? Are you sure? I mean, I get it, but why????" In some ways, I felt like we had finally gotten a grasp on the rules of time travel and then it was over. It's a novel that could easily turn into a series and I hope it does. I'm definitely looking forward to Sarah Crowne's next book!
What a thrill ride! I’ve always been fascinated by time-travel books, so I was curious about this story. But then add a murder mystery to the equation and I was hooked. Oh, and did I mention it has the added fun of being set in the 80’s? Hang on because this one is a real page-turner.
Teen Silvie’s life turns upside down and inside out when a horrific tragedy strikes her family. While she struggles to keep her fractured family together, Silvie discovers a strange new world that she thought was only possible in the movies. Together with her younger brother, Silvie attempts to uncover hidden family secrets and change the past in order to save those that she loves.
While this book does not technically fall into a faith-based genre, it does possess Christian elements, such as a pro-life theme and references to prayer. Given the subject matter, the story is relatively clean but is recommended for older teens due to some violence and topics such as teen pregnancy.
This time travel fantasy story took me on a wild ride. Intricate detail, including great 80s references, and character development kept me turning the pages until the wonderful twist ending.
There are so many details, but the time travel rules are very clear so I was never lost. The story moves quickly and was very entertaining. A great read!
Such a great read! I was in the dark on Who the killer was till the end! Very well written and really tapped into the love of siblings and family life. The dialog between characters are natural and informative without sounding to exposition overload. All in all good book I hope to see a book 2 in this universe
This is an excellent read! It kept me on my toes. I couldn’t wait to see who was doing all the murders and just when I thought I had it figured out I didn’t. I love the book. I can’t say enough about it. I read it twice. Can’t wait for another book from Sarah Crowne!!! She is an excellent author!!
