Of Mointeach + Mantras by Amanda Crewe is the highly anticipated follow-up to her novel Of Peat Moss + Prayers.
This is the continuing story of Leanna LeFleur, after the death of her Father, her house burning down, and the beginning of her new relationship with Everette. This story begins with her journey of becoming a new mom starting with a complicated birth, her difficulties adjusting to the role of a Mom without a mother role- model, postpartum depression; sleep deprivation, extremely heavy menstrual cycles, incontinence, and having difficulties communicating her feelings or issues. She is grieving her father’s death, does not want to take drugs for the depression, or wear adult diapers this early in life, and doesn’t know what is wrong with her. She feels like she has no one to talk to about her difficulties even if she could articulate them to anyone. Her friend Cathy introduces her to Keighli who is a Reiki master and yoga instructor and together the three of them travel to a hidden ashram in Mexico.
This story is about Leanna's mental and physical journey to healing and adjusting to motherhood. It is also an inspirational story to women everywhere, but especially to those who have struggled with motherhood, postpartum depression, and the other sometimes unpleasant experiences we have after giving birth.
“We do the best we can." he continued. "It's all we can do. You are surrounded by people who love and support you. Let them inspire you to become the hero of your story instead of the victim.”
