I never imagined I’d agree to an arranged marriage for over 5 million dollars.
Not to mention that the man I’d be marrying is someone I’d already met once before.
Gage Kingston waltzes into the meeting with the lawyer unaffected—cocky, tattooed, and acting like he didn’t know who I was.
But after we agree we’d be stupid to walk away from that kind of money, we embark on a six month timeline to riches despite the animosity between us.
Now I’m living with the man his aunt thought would be perfect for me while wondering if the woman was going insane before she died to think this was a good idea.
Then the first letter came.
Turns out Diane had a plan to get us to fall for each other while trying to make our marriage work.
Arguments turn to meaningful conversations.
Innocent brushes turn to lust-filled challenges.
And before I know it, we’re crossing every line we drew in the sand.
Did Diane somehow know that we were meant for each other before we figure it out for ourselves?
Or was jumping into a marriage with a man I barely knew one of the worst mistakes of my life?

ARC & ALC REVIEW 📚Somehow You Knew by Harlow James 🎤Erin Mallon & Brandon Francis
DUAL NARRATION Carrington Cove #5 4.5 ⭐
Harlow continues to be a favorite author of mine. It's sad leaving this charming, little beach town but Hazel & Gage's story was the perfect ending. Her stories are fun & easy but she continues to build meaningful & emotional relationships between the Sheppard siblings & their significant others. The found family is really everything in this series & I have loved every book. The family's meddling ways are so relatable & so much fun!
Gage is the very, grumpy tattoo artist who has given up on love because of a health condition. He views himself as someone who has nothing to offer anyone in the future. His chance meeting with Hazel leaves them both thinking about each other, even months later. When she runs into him again at the reading of her friends will, she remembers the spark she felt with him before.
Her friend just happens to be Gage's aunt. She's left some very specific instructions for these two & if they follow the instructions, they stand to inherit quite a bit of money. After years of trying to set these two up time & time again, they must get married & stay married for 6 months. His aunt makes one last ditch effort to bring these two together & along with the marriage, they must do certain tasks or "dates" that's she's written out in great detail.
Because somehow.... Gage's aunt KNEW that these two kids were always meant to be together.
Harlow writes in a few twists & unexpected turns in this one. Gage is seemingly stand-offish, got a bit of a dark edge to him & he wants nothing to do with love. Throughout the course of the story he becomes entangled in the Sheppard family, the sibling dynamics & ultimately realizes that he's in love with Hazel. It's a bit of a slower burn, but when it hits, it is FIRE!🔥 The reason for Gage being against love makes sense & his story was well written & woven into the lives of everyone in Carrington Cove.
🎧Let's talk audio: Erin & Brandon did such a wonderful job. What a treat to hear more from Brandon & Erin is the ever delightful story teller. She brings Hazel's insecurities & vulnerabilities to life. Hazel really helps Gage to look at life differently & shows him there's not only value in having someone to love but being part of a family you can count on. Brandon was the perfect voice to bring this slightly gruff but deeply compassionate character to life. He's got big shoes to fill after hearing all the Sheppard boys stories & he comes into town, ready to win! I LOVED these two together.
This series is honestly SO DANG good on audio. Every book is cast with such talented actors that make these books definitely worth your listening time. Bravo Harlow!👏👏👏 Carrington Cove is an unforgettable small-town that will always bring a smile to my face.
Thank you so much Harlow for allowing me to be a part of your team & take this journey with you. Also, thanks to the Author Agency for providing the ARC & ALC to review. All thoughts are my own.
Somehow You Knew releases on July 10th on all platforms.
This series has been wonderful, and the last book is just fantastic! As always, it’s been a thrilling ride filled with laughter, heartwarming moments, and even a few tears. Hazel is a romantic who has been searching for her perfect man for years, but after facing so many disappointments, she decides it’s time to give up on love. On the other hand, Gage is someone who avoids relationships. With a tough childhood, he doesn’t believe in love at all. When his aunt passes away, she leaves behind a big sum of money for both him and Hazel, but there’s a catch—they need to be married for six months to get the money.
Hazel is a talented photographer and the youngest of the Sheppard siblings. She’s kind, sweet, independent, and full of love. Her bond with her father was special, and after his passing, she feels a bit lost. Gage, a grumpy tattoo artist, has always kept people at arm’s length, especially now that he has no family left. They both agree to marry for six months, solely for financial benefit, thinking they can keep things strictly business. As they start living together, their feelings for each other begin to blossom. The more they learn about one another, the harder it becomes to ignore their growing attraction.
I had such a blast following their journey together! There were plenty of funny moments that made me laugh out loud, swoon-worthy scenes, and let’s not forget the steamy scenes. Gage has built up high walls, but it’s amazing to see how Hazel slowly breaks them down. I also loved how welcoming her brothers were to him. My heart went out to Gage since he felt so alone, but by marrying Hazel, he gained a loving family, and those moments melted my heart. Overall, this was such an enjoyable read and a perfect conclusion to the series. I can’t wait to dive into the new series after reading the sneak peek!
Well, that was emotional … *blink* Every story in this series has been emotional in its own special way, so I wasn’t not prepared for it, but Somehow You Knew was emotional in every way. Like even the lighthearted points were emotional. I don’t quite know how to explain it, and maybe I was just in a mood LOL, but it all made me feel something. My heart was at play throughout the entire story, and it was just so uplifting even when I cried like a baby!
I got to listen to the ALC narrated by Erin Mallon and Brandon Francis and I was truly transfixed by their performance. I began listening to this audio on my drive home from work and when I got home, I realized this was the kind of story that was going to need my full brain. That wasn’t just because the story itself had so many “nooks and crannies” (if that makes sense), but because Erin and Bradon’s performances were so intune with their characters and the story that they made me want to “stop and listen” and do nothing else. And so, I did, and it was just *happy sigh* (with a whole lot of tears)! I’ve known Erin’s power as a narrator for years, but Brandon, I just met, and I can’t wait to get to him better!
Harlow James continues to impress me with her thought-provoking, realistic-fiction, heartfelt storylines that are well thought out and developed with characters you want to be in your real life. She’s an author that has impressed me from the very first story I experienced by her, and I cannot wait to get lost in her worlds for years to come!
Somehow You Knew is the 5th and final book in the Carrington Cove series. I have loved this series, and this was such a sweet and emotional conclusion.
Hazel is a hopeless romantic, but she has been unlucky in love, so she is ready to give up on dating. She has a meet cute with a sexy tattooed hero where he asked to draw something on her. He ended up drawing a hummingbird, which had an important and sentimental meaning to Hazel. She felt like this interaction had special meaning, but she doesn’t see him again until her elderly friend Diane passed away.
Diane left millions to Hazel and her nephew Gage, but there was a catch. Hazel and Gage have to get married and stay married for 6 months in order to receive the inheritance. They enter into a marriage of convenience and move in together. Gage is a tattoo artist and has also sworn off love for reasons, but Diane has also sent them letters for dates/tasks for them to complete. The more time they spend together, the more they fall in love.
This was a beautiful, slow burn romance. I was swooning for Gage! He was one of my favorite heroes out of this series.
🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧 This audiobook was narrated by Brandon Francis and Erin Mallon. They did an amazing job with the banter and chemistry between the characters. I flew through this audiobook and would highly recommend it.
Thank you to The Author Agency for providing the ARC and ALC.
Bravo, Harlow James! This is a “I read it within 24 hrs of receiving it” kind of book!
I have enjoyed the Carrington Cove Series and have done a mixture of eyeballing and listening from one book to the next. One thing that is clear across all the pages and hours listened is the Sheppard family loves each other through the trickiest of circumstances and folds their significant others into the family in a way that is permanent and meaningful.
Hazel Sheppard is the baby of the family and the only girl. She has been struggling to find love, and she craves a love much like she witnessed growing up with her parents. She’s a photographer who is successful and content living in Carrington Cove. A meet-cute in a coffee shop (coinciding with a significant drawing on her arm) and a meddling woman all combine to create my favorite love story of the series.
This story’s catalyst is Hazel’s relationship with Diane, a woman for whom she is a caretaker for. When Diane passes away, she leaves a will that has a rather unusual stipulation: she requests Hazel and her nephew, Gage, get married and stay married for six months. If they fulfill the promise, they each walk away with five million dollars.
Harlow writes this love story with a few twists, and what I didn’t expect, was to fall head over heels for Gage. I didn’t think he could outshine the Sheppard brothers, but damn. He takes the cake. Not to mention, his tattoos and piercings and dark edge made him such a contrast to the other MMCs. I especially enjoyed how the brothers folded Gage in and gave him a sense of belonging. These men are written with tenderness and fierce love.
The story is a little bit of a slow burn, but let me tell you…..it is well worth it. I had big feelings for both Hazel and Gage separately and as a couple. I feel that Harlow did a great job at weaving this story and connection together organically, and Gage’s hesitation toward falling in love all made sense.
If you haven’t read this series yet, I strongly suggest starting at book one with “Somewhere You Belong”. Try to resist the charms of these Sheppard brothers, but guard your heart….Gage will be waiting for you in book five on July 10th.
If you haven't read the Carrington Cove series by Harlow James I am in fact here to inform you... IT IS A MUST READ FOR SMALL TOWN BOOK LOVERS.
I can't even set here and pick a favorite but, I can set here and tell you all why I loved this book so much, because Gage and Hazel deserve it. They deserve someone shouting from the rooftops how amazing they are so you can read them and tell someone else.
When Gage and Hazel are required to get married to inherit millions you would think it's a no brainer. Get married for however many months, and then walk away.. except there are so many fun curve balls thrown their way. They have to complete challenges and they are truly put to the test. AND I LOVED EVERY FREAKING BIT OF IT.
Hazel is a hopeless romantic with big brothers who think she's the most precious human.. and she is. she shares a love for love like her dad and when she comes home saying she's marrying someone for money and not love, they all feel some sort of way about it. Time and time again Hazel is fierce and strong. She stands up for who she is, she stands up for Gage and I just LOVE that. I love an independent FMC so dang much.
The broody motorclye riding tattoo artist Gage is agreeing to this for only one reason. He has no plans of falling for anyone, and def no plans to stay in a marriage he never wanted to begin with. Somehow Hazel worms her way right into his grumpy soul and the things he never thought he could have might just work out. and then he remembers why they can't.

What a way to end the Covington Cove Series!
Hazel and Gage’s story was well worth the wait. I loved how this story showed how losing loved ones can shape your decisions and outlook on life and how finding the your people can mend the broken pieces…even if people meddled in your life to help you find said people.
This book was funny, sassy and HOT. Brandon Francis and Erin Mallon helped bring the heat and emotion to Harlow James’ words.
Erin Mallon never disappoints with her narration. I absolutely loved that she was casted for Hazel. Hazel is so compassionate, sassy, but an all around absolute sweet heart even though she has been hurt. And Erin captured that beautifully. When it came to the spice, Hazel was edged for so long and Erin really made me feel that. I was starting to actually feel her frustration from need.
As for Brandon Francis… that was my first time listening to him and I will definitely be back for more! Him being casted for Gage was such a great decision. Gage has a tough exterior and puts on this unbothered persona but is aching and in turmoil on the inside. Brandon got that and delivered one heck of a performance. Brandon really got me with the spicy scenes though… I’ve heard spice narrated many different way but there was just something that hit right when Brandon was narrating his spicy chapters. I mean…😮💨. Be careful listening at work..
THIS BOOK, Y’ALL!!! Hazel & Gage’s story did not disappoint!! A chance meeting & instant chemistry leads to a brilliant marriage of convenience/arranged marriage...that turns into real love. The characters are genuine and their emotions are real, absolutely loved the connection. I could feel the pull between them and kept hoping they could see through all their insecurities to find love with each other. The compassion each of them have, the chances they take, their banter, the sweet swoon-worthy moments and even the heartbreak. No lie, it will kick you right in the feels, but the pain will totally be worth it. Harlow James truly saved the best for last in this series!!!!
Listened to audiobook 7/8/25 Erin Mallon and Brandon Francis are remarkable bringing the characters to life. They do more than giving their characters their voices, they fall into the roles giving us all of the emotions with the perfect inflections. I HIGHLY recommend that you read the book and if you like audiobooks, add this one to your wishlist!! You won’t be disappointed.
Tropes: Last in Series Tattoo Artist MMC Photographer FMC Marriage of Convenience Found Family Meddling Family Cute Nicknames He's pierced
This is the last book in the Convington Cove Series and while I'm sad to see it end, this was the perfect ending to the series!
Hazel is the youngest Sheppard sibling and the hopeless romantic of the family. She's given up on love and a happy marriage, but suddenly she's given the opportunity to inherit 5 million dollars if she agrees to marry Gage Kingston for 6 months.
Gage gave up on many of his hopes and dreams for the future once he lost his father. Getting married to Hazel is bringing up feelings he thought he'd given up on. While he hates the idea of letting someone in, it might be exactly what he needs.
I love when authors add aspects of destiny into their stories, and this book was filled when them! Every chapter and cute detail showed that these two were soulmates. The book screams KISMET!
I do wish that Gage grovelled a bit. He was so mean to Hazel at times. Even with his extreme grumpiness, he was so sweet, too. The little(but big) gestures he did show just how much he actually cared!
Hazel has such a pure heart; she deserves the world and Gage is ready to give it to her!
I adored how the Sheppard brothers were so loving and accepting of Gage, but protective of Hazel at the same time. They were there for both of them! That prank was absolutely perfect by the way! 🤣
The whole Sheppard family is so amazing and it was wonderful to read their stories and see their HEAs. I'm so excited to see what's next from Harlow!
This was a cute story, and a great end to this little family’s saga. It had all the sweet, small town, southern family vibes; and it was very on brand for Harlow James. If you’re looking for an easy read with a bit of spice in it this is great.
I would suggest reading instead of listening if you don’t like Erin Mallon. Personally, she’s my least favorite narrator and I would love if she would go narrate another genre, but she’s got an active career so someone must like her. 🤷🏻♀️
I am so freaking sad this series is over. I absolutely adore every single character. Somewhere You Belong was my first book by Harlow and I’ve been hooked ever since. I don’t even look to see what the books are about before I’m signing myself up for the next one. I will endlessly be recommending Carrington Cove to anyone and everyone.
Hazel… my girl FINALLY got her HEA. Throughout the series she has always been the biggest cheerleader for her friends and family. Despite her own struggles, she never let that take away from the others. As soon as she was finally ready to stop holding out hope, life said “plot twist” and she found herself in the arms of a stranger. Her late elderly friend’s grandson, Gage. The storyline was impeccable. I loved this original twist on the marriage of convenience trope. I had the best time reading Hazel and Gage’s story. The perfect way to end an amazing series.
What you’ll find: - Marriage of Convenience -Strangers to lovers -Small town -Forced proximity -Grumpy x Sunshine
Thank you Hazel and team for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review 🤍
Somehow you Knew was the perfect ending to such an amazing series! This book was full of heart and humour that brought all the emotions and brought a story that makes you believe in soulmates. I don’t know what else to say other than this book was so beautiful!
I've already read it twice in the last two weeks and still want to binge the enter series all over again. I never wanted this book to end. At one point, I had to pause while working because I was ugly crying and couldn't even see my screen.
Hazel and Gage's story is a deeply emotional journey, while healing and unforgettable. As a reader, you don't just witness their pain and growth, you feel it. I'll forever think of this story whenever I see a dragonfly. This story is such a powerful reminder to live fully, because tomorrow isn't promised.
The audiobook amplified every moment and emotion. The narrators brought Hazel and Gage to life with such depth and heart, it made the experience even more immersive and impactful. I can't recommend it enough!
**One of my absolute top reads this Summer, be sure to grab the bonus epilogue from the author's website!!!
Another favorite series ending... Oh, Hazel!! She has just had no luck dating so she wears off love. Gage has his own reasons for believing that happily ever after isn't in the cards for him. Both are shocked to find out that Diane has left them a lot of money, millions. The catch - they must marry, live together for 6 months and complete simple challenges together. Diane knows these two se well. This was just the best way to end this series. I loved seeing the other couples at family dinners. I devoured this audiobook. Narrated by Erin Mallon and Brandon Francis, the audiobook is top tier. I loved this book and the whole series.
2.5 I was honestly soo bored during this, the characters were mid and the banter was cringe and nothing new. I thought we would focus more on the different activities Diane had set for them to do but there was only one and then it was never mentioned again. The third act conflict was also so dramatic for no reason. Honestly it was kind of a disappointing way to end the series.
Hazel is the last Sheppard sibling left standing when it comes to being single. She is also the hopeless romantic who has sworn off dating after one disastrous encounter after another, and that is where her close friend Diane comes in. After Diane's passing, Hazel is informed she is to be one of two people set to inherit a fortune if they both fulfill a certain list of criteria... That other person being Diane's nephew, Gage, who has also sworn off love, and that criteria being the two of them have to get and stay married for 6 months. They can totally cohabit, be married, and entwine their lives for 6 months without developing feelings, getting attached, opening up, and go their separate ways at the end, each vastly richer than they were before... right?
The final book in the Carrington Cove series is here, and I will be sad to see this series go as I've had a great time meeting these characters and the small town they dwell within. This series has overall been a really enjoyable read for me. I have liked some books in it more than others, but as reading is subjective, that was bound to be the case. Although I found this last installment enjoyable, it didn't fully deliver what I expected or hoped it would.
I liked both Hazel and Gage. I liked their backstories, and they are both layered and interesting characters. Their story is centered around family and the impact life and loss can have on you, especially through Gage's character. It has some great heartwarming moments and interactions with the MCs from the previous books that give those close/found family vibes, and once it gets there, the spice was great.
However, there was something missing in the chemistry between Hazel and Gage for me, and I can't fully put my finger on what that was. I just didn't feel/believe their love connection as I have with other couples from this series. There was tension thanks to the slow burn pacing, but the spark never fully ignited for me with these two. Erin Mallon and Brandon Francis narrate and do a stellar job, adding a layer of depth and emotion to their performances that I enjoyed.
Overall, this was a good read that I found engaging and entertaining, but it just didn't deliver what I thought/hoped the last book of this series was going to, and I will probably be in the minority with that opinion, and that's okay.🌶🌶 Book releases 10th July.
"You need a rule breaker, someone who isn't afraid to push the limits - because if you end up with someone who doesn't push you, you'll be bored."
"But loving someone doesn't mean life is easy all the time. It's easy to love someone when things are good. It's the low points-the obstacles and hurdles-that truly test that love. Love is a choice, Hazelnut. And the right person? They'll choose you over and over again.''
"If my aunt thought forcing us to get married was going to change my mind about being alone for the rest of my life, she was sadly mistaken. I have to hand it to her though, dangling a 5.1 million dollar carrot definitely has me considering sacrificing six months of my life."
"Life is unpredictable, messy, and sometimes unfair, but if you can laugh together, you'll always have something worth holding onto."
"Everything in my body is telling me that this man wants the same future that I do, that we really are on the same page. But you know what I'm beginning to realize about hope? My life is just a graveyard full of hopes I've had to bury, and this could be one of the most painful losses yet."
This is the fifth and final book in the Carrington Cove series and am I so sad to see it go. This book was the perfect send off, however, where the Shepard's baby girl Hazel finally gets her HEA. Who knew it would end up being Gage, the nephew of Diane, an elderly lady she befriended after taking pictures of the Diane's dog. Somehow Diane knew that Hazel and Gage were perfect for each other, but since both had sworn off love and relationships, Diane had to get sneaky to bring them together.
Diane's will stipulates that Hazel and Gage must get married and stay married for at least 6 months and if they do that, they will both inherit $5 million each. The couple eventually agrees to wed in name only, and are determined to ride out the 6 months, inherit the money, and then go back to their separate lives. Yeah, right.
Hazel is sweet but strong, and tries very hard to keep her defenses up because she's sick and tired of looking for Mr. Right and being disappointed. Who cares that Gage happens to be the man she's been obsessed with for months after a meet-cute at a local coffee shop. She's not falling for this guy. He doesn't want a relationship and is only in it for the money. It's just business... Ha ha ha. We plan and God laughs.
Gage has decided he can't have a normal life with a partner, family, and kids due to a health concern. So, he works and shuts life out so he doesn't form attachments. Living with Hazel may be a test of his wills, but he can get through it without catching feelings. No matter how sweet, loving, strong, and determined she is. Not to mention hot. He's honoring his aunt's wishes, and no more. Plus, who can't use $5 million?... Uh huh, keep telling yourself that Gage.
I love that the book brings back all of the brothers and their wives in the story and they play a much more prominent role in this book than the family did in the previous books. It's probably because the brothers are so protective of Hazel. The family's mom continues to be a rock to her family, and provides much comfort and wisdom to Hazel as she struggles dealing with Gage. While the couple initially treat each other as roommates, as they get to know the other they start doing those small sweet things that couples do to let the other know that they get the other person and are thinking of them. Those small acts sometimes mean way more than the big displays of affection.
As is usually the case, everyone around them see the couple are falling for each other way before they acknowledge it themselves. The only thing that spoils the story (for me at least) is the third act miscommunication wrench that is thrown in toward the end. It made sense for the story, and it resolves fairly quickly. I just dislike the trope, so that's a me thing that may not bother other people.
I listened to the audio of this book and the narrators did a fantastic job. They brought the characters to life and were able to convey their emotions so well. I highly recommend you listen to this book if you like audiobooks.
I received a complimentary e-copy and audiobook from the Author Agency. All opinions are my own.
This book was sadly the last book in the series and amazing from cover to cover and I really really enjoyed it ☺️ this story follows tattoo artist Gage and his arranged bride Hazel.
Hazel and Gage meet in a cafe by chance and Gage asks Hazel if he can draw on her, she agrees as Gage tells her he's doing a bucket list and draws a hummingbird, then after he leaves. A year later Hazel's friend Diane passed away and she was asked to go to the will reading. Where she meets her friend's nephew.
At the will reading Hazel and Gage are told they both stand to inherit 5.1 million dollars each after 6 months of marriage, both shocked as neither one expected to hear about an arranged marriage especially as both had decided to swear off love, even though Diane had been trying to get them together for a long time as she was convinced they were meant for eachother.
They both agree to the marriage, thinking it's only 6 months and everything will be fine and easy. After a month a" pink letter" arrives with instructions, from Diana that they have to go on a "date" and go to a thrift store to get eachother clothes and to buy something for their place but they also have to take pictures and send them to the attorney as proof that their doing the tasks together.
I loved this story and it warmed my heart how there were signs> from Hazel's dad with the hummingbird which I think was beautiful that they kept Hazel's dad a constant part of their lives (the same with Diane). I did really enjoy Gages character and I get why he didn't tell Hazel but she really needed to know about everything.
Since the little sneak peek in Book 4, Someday You Learn, where Hazel gets a special sign of a hummingbird from her father, who had passed, I was eager to read her HEA.
It was such a touching moment, coinciding with a great-looking tattooed guy who was a stranger then. But things happen for a reason, and Hazel’s good friend Diane knew that Hazel would be a perfect match for her nephew, Gage—the great-looking tattooed guy she had met. When Diane passed away, she made some stipulations in her will which involved a significant sum of money to be given to Gage and Hazel, but only if they married each other during a specific period. And during that time, they were to do activities to help them get to know each other.
I have to say the couple of activities were great, and I thought to myself that these should be done for all couples before they get married! But I digress. Somehow You Knew pulled my heartstrings more times than I thought it would through this story. I loved the romance. Both Hazel and Gage deserved all the love. His secret brought tears to my eyes. But the spicy scenes make up for it. From when Hazel discovered the first piercing—Gage is pierced in several places—to when she finds the rest. And I loved the humorous moments with Hazel’s brothers playing corn hole with Gage, bringing him into the family.
Somehow You Knew was a great final book to a wonderful series. I’ll miss these characters.
This was such a great end to this fantastic series. And we're ending with a marriage of convenience?! YES! Sweet Hazel and her hopeless romantic heart. I'm so glad she got her happily ever after. Gage & Hazel embark on their marriage on convenience so that they can end up with a huge sum of money that was left to them after someone they loved passed away. But living together proved to be a challenge when feelings starting being involved. The banter between these two was perfect and once that spice started... whew!
This book had me feeling all the emotions! I was laughing, swooning, and wanting to cry. Gosh! I have loved every minute of Carrington Cove and I am so sad that it's over! I'm going to miss the Sheppard family.
🎧Audio:🎧 This was a dual narration by Brandon Francis and Erin Mallon. Brandon was new to me and I really enjoyed him! His voice was captivating and there could not of been a better person to voice Gage! Erin was great too! She played the sassy Hazel perfectly. I really enjoyed this duo!
What to expect: 💕 Marriage of convenience 💍 Irritation to lovers 💕 Meddling Family 💍 Forced Proximity 💕 Sassy FMC
This one releases July 10! Thank you so much to Harlow James for this ARC/ALC.
What to Expect: - Small Town Romance - Marriage of Convenience - Irritation to Lovers - Meddling Family - Pierced MCs - He's a Tattoo Artist - Forced Proximity - Slow Burn - Dual POV - Dual Narration
Somehow You Knew is the fifth and final book in the Carrington Cove series, and follows Hazel Sheppard and Gage Kingston. After picking nothing but the wrong men and dealing with loss, Hazel has sworn off love. Gage has also experienced loss, and wants nothing to do with any long-term commitments. Now, with the opportunity to inherit a life-changing sum of money from a loved one who has passed away, they agree to enter into a marriage of convenience. No feelings will be involved, so what could go wrong?
I adored Hazel and Gage, and enjoyed their journey to love. Their slow-burn romance was super sweet and packed with lots of emotion. I loved witnessing the tension build, then the moment they gave in to their feelings. They were perfect together, and their chemistry was undeniable. Hazel and Gage are both layered characters with heartbreaking backstories. My heart hurt for them, but I loved seeing them find what they needed in each other. Being forced together by a meddling loved one was not what they expected, but it led to them finding comfort and learning to trust each other with their hearts.
Narration: Erin Mallon & Brandon Francis perform this audiobook in dual-style narration. This was my first listening experience with these two together, and I felt they both did a wonderful job bringing the characters and story to life. Erin and Brandon perfectly captured the characters' personalities and made them feel real. I loved listening to the banter and emotional moments. Their voices flowed incredibly well, and created a great immersive reading experience.
Thanks to Harlow James, The Author Agency, and One Night Stand Studios for the review opportunity. Opinions expressed are my own.
ARC Review: Thank you to Harlow James and The Author Agency for sending me a copy to read and review!!
I really enjoyed this book! Having lost a parent, this book really resonated with me. I loved the idea of Diane knowing Gage and Hazel belonged together, and giving them that nudge. The tension between Gage and Hazel was so good. I knew it was going to be steamy when that tension finally broke, and I was not disappointed.
Gage is broody and grumpy, but he’s hiding something. He’s tatted, rides a motorcycle, and has fun piercings. His character was like an onion you had to watch be peeled back bit by bit. I really felt like Gage’s story was original and definitely not something you see a lot in Romance.
Hazel had sworn off love, but when Diane’s plan was revealed to her, she couldn’t pass up the chance to marry Gage… just for the money. I loved the banter between Hazel and her family and how they accepted Gage. This book dealt with the idea of fate, and I really liked that aspect. This had the perfect amount of drama and spice.
Absolute perfection and the perfect ending to the Carrington Cove series !
Gage Kingston and Hazel Shepard are put into the most interesting marriage of convenience but with the fun twist of letters and past love ones being involved . So much banter, emotions, laugh out loud moments and delicious spice ! Plus with Hazel being the youngest out of all the Shepard siblings and with this being the last book in the series, having everyone from the previous books be so involved was perfection . Every book in the Carrington Cove series is a 5 star read but Gage and Hazel have completely disrupted my series ranking because of how much I love their love story .
I am so sad to see the characters of Carrington Cove come to an end, but I can’t wait to see what magic Harlow is writing for us next . This series will be a top three favorite of mine forever <3
It was so freaking good!!! I was frustrated, I laughed, I cried, and everything in between. This book was perfectly amazing for me. The reading experience this book gave me was truly satisfying because I felt so many things within 300++ pages. I loved how hopelessly romantic Hazel was. Even though Gage was the master of hot and cold for almost the entirety of the story but Hazel didn't give up for what she wanted. And I loved her for that. Gage, oh Gage. I understood why he acted the way he did. I am just so freaking glad he chased the HEA he and Hazel deserved. Although this book is the last book of this series, for me it could be completely read as a standalone. I definitely would read the first book since it's Dallas's book and Dallas has left a significant impression on me. See you soon, Dallas!
Thank you to Harlow James and The Author Agency for the ARC.
I really loved Gage and Hazel's story. This was a marriage of 5-million-dollar convenience. I mean who could really say no to being married for 6 months in order to get that kind of money.
I loved how their relationship went from strangers to friends to oh so much more. They really had an intense connection. I loved the letters from his aunt to help push them together. His aunt and even her father both knew that these two would be perfect together.
These two really heated up my earbuds while listening to this one. Erin Mallon is a longtime favorite for me, and she just never disappoints. Brandon Francis was a new to me narrator, but I really enjoyed his performance. They were able to portray all the emotions this story provoked.
Somehow You Knew was hands down my favorite of the Carrington Cove Series! It was literally THE perfect ending to such a great series!
Gage & Hazel were such a fantastic couple! Both swore off any type of love FOREVER. Both had an amazing person in their life that left them lots of monies as long as they married each other and lasted for at least 6 months! Both very much attracted to one another despite their insistent denial! Gah! There is just nothing better than a marriage of convenience!
Erin Mallon & Brandon Francis did an absolutely phenomenal job bringing the characters and their stories to life! I literally could not get enough!

4 Star Review Somehow You Knew You Learn (Carrington Cove #5) by Harlow James
I was intrigued when I read the blurb for this book and couldn’t wait to dive in.
Set in Carrington Cove, this is Gage Kingston and Hazel Sheppard’s story. It was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but be drawn into.
Being the only girl in the family Hazel is at a crossroads, looking for lasting love.
A chance meeting sets in motion a change she never saw coming. When Diane dies she leaves a will that is unusual to say the least.
She wants Hazel to marry her nephew Gage and to stay married for six months in order to inherit five million dollars each.
Agreeing to the terms of the will, it starts a relationship that is complicated and yet heart warming.
A well written, entertaining story that ticked numerous boxes for me.
Simply put, this story is the best in the series. Harlow gave us perfection in Hazel and Gage. And while I cannot possibly do this book justice with words — just know, it’s incredible. I swooned, I teared up, I laughed and I fanned my face more than once. 🥵
This book is what excellence looks like. Truly.
🎧And the audio, voiced by Erin Mallon and Brandon Francis, complimented the story insanely well — their performances were so so great.
Thanks to Harlow and The Author Agency for this ARC and ALC!
