HYPOTHETICALLY YOURS is a SAVANNAH BANANAS INSPIRED Baseball ROMANCE with a CURVY MC!
Rory the rookie for the Coastal Coconuts Show Baseball team Cece's their social media manager And dating? It's against company policy Cece Brooks had given up on love after her fiancée—a professional major league baseball player—revealed to the media he’d been cheating on her. Thus causing her to lose her job, her friends, family & resort to uprooting her entire life from NYC to Florida where she got a new job with the show baseball team, The Coastal Coconuts.
It had been a year and the media circus on her horrific love life died down, while the popularity of the showball team went viral—in a good way. Everything was on the up and up, until she met the new rookie, Rory Mackenzie, who turned her life upside down.
Normally, Cece wouldn’t have minded a hot, baseball player asking her out—especially one as charming as Rory Mackenzie—but Cece had sworn off dating athletes again. Not only that, but dating within the workplace was strictly prohibited. Apparently, Rory didn’t get the memo or care.
Rory Mackenzie's entire life changed when he got injured in the minor leagues and no matter how hard he fought through his recovery, he never got called up. At least until he signed with the Coastal Coconuts—a show baseball team that twerked, danced, and had full-blown shenanigans during their games.
Doing a backflip and catching a pop fly? No problem. After being so focused on a fresh start with a new team, he wasn’t expecting to get knocked on his ass by a gorgeous blonde who he couldn’t stop thinking about. Sure they worked together, maybe it was against the rules, but the pull to her was too strong for him to give any effs about. All he wanted was her and the game. He just had to convince her he was worth breaking the rules for first.
Hypothetically Yours is the first book in the COASTAL COCONUTS series and is a unique, flirty, and fun baseball romance unlike you’ve ever read before. If you love the Savannah Bananas and thought to yourself—man, I wish there was a romance about them!—this one Is for you!!!
This is a workplace, sports romance with a curvy main character and a lot of baseball boys who twerk. It’s also dual POV!
Hypothetically Yours is by Angela Parkhurst, the author who brought you the curvy girl BOMBSHELL series—Bombshell, Starfish & After Glow—as well as the Wrecking Ball series—To Get To You & A Summer With You. As well as the acclaimed YA series, the Forgotten Fairytales.

I just wanted a silly little read about a romance in a silly little baseball team, and that was basically what this was. Overall if you want a cute little story you don't have to think about maybe give this a try, although if you are not adverse to light spoilers check out point 2 below for why I did not rate this book higher than 2 stars. There were so many elements that drew me to this story (Banana Ball knock off team, larger size main character, guy falls first), but they were not, in my opinion, well executed. Slight spoilers ahead.
First, I was excited about a story inspired by Banana Ball, but the concept felt more like a rip off than being inspired by the teams. There was nothing that made the Coastal Coconuts different or unique when compared to the Bananas, even adopting the same catch phrase of fans first and using real players names for most of the characters (Jackson Swan got me since the real Jackson and real Swan are so different as people! Making the bad guy Hilton when Helton is one of my favorite pitchers kept taking me out of the story line though). Which fine, whatever. But then we basically got a mention of a backflip and a new trick play idea with ZERO baseball being played! I didn't pick up a baseball romance expecting no baseball - give me some baseball!
Second and arguably the worst part was having a book advertised as a "curvy" main character, but then having very clear issues of fat phobia sprinkled throughout. It was a real bummer. The main character has lost 75 pounds - a huge milestone! - is a size 16, and still feels super self conscious. Her body is mentioned several times, and mostly in negative ways except when the boyfriend is talking about liking her curves or once when she goes to a boutique that does fashion for larger people. Several times she says she can't imagine a baseball player going for "a girl like me" but babes, why?! Why wouldn't a baseball player go for her, size 16 isn't even big! I was incredibly disappointed that she had to lose weight at all, much less such a drastic amount of weight, to be considered sexy. Fat people can be sexy, full stop. And there is a scene where someone makes fun of her weight and she runs to the bathroom to cry so the male main character can come tell her he still thinks she is beautiful; but it was so unnecessary and didn't do anything except add to the idea that larger bodies are a laughing stock and it is a "hero" boyfriend who can see past the weight to still find her attractive despite it. It was just so gross and so condescending and I honestly would have rated this a 3 stars if the character was mentioned as curvy but then treated like a regular person instead of an oddity.
Finally, this read like a glorified Wattpad fan fic, which isn't necessarily a problem except if I am purchasing a book I expect it not to be completely riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes. This book could have been so much better with a couple rounds of edits. It read very raw and definitely needed some tuning before publishing.

I had really high hopes for this book based on reviews and recommendations I had seen for it. It’s a cute story don’t get me wrong, but asking out on a date in the first chapter and “hypothetically” dating in the fourth chapter really threw me for a loop. I really couldn’t get over the writing style, lots of parts throughout the book felt very superficial and was fighting to get some back story. Once you get about 50% into the book, the story starts coming together nicely, and I did enjoy the reminder of the book. Just some lack luster and trying to move the story along too quickly.

This is a one click author for me and this one WAS SO GOOD! Rory was SUCH a golden retriever for Cece and I loved all the teams dynamics. The 🌶🌶 was SO steamy and worth the slow burn build up. Hilarious and heartwarming. Can't WAIT for the next one!
Hypothetically Yours: Coastal Coconuts follows the beautiful Cece and her "relationship" with Rory.
Cece has vowed to never love again after her professional baseball player fiancé revealed to the media that he cheated on her. After all the backlash she got from her friends and family and losing her job she is left with only one option, completely leave her NYC life behind, move to sunny Florida and start a new job with the show baseball team, The Coastal Coconuts. A year goes by and she was finally in the clear from the media circus and living her life as the social media manager for the Coconuts until her life is turned upside down when she meets the new rookie of the team, Rory.
Rory's entire life changed when he injured his throwing hand in the minor leagues. No matter how hard he fought through his recovery he never got the call up to the majors. He was about to lose hope until he gets a fresh start and signs with the Coastal Coconuts where they twerk, dance, and have full-blown shenanigans during each game.
Rory has not been able to keep his eyes of the girl in the gym that he works out in every morning. She is a beautiful curvy girl and he cant get enough courage to talk to her. When the opportunity comes and they finally have a conversation, he takes his shot and asks her out on a date...
As much as Cece wants to say yes she can't because not only has she sworn off ever dating athletes again, it is strictly prohibited from dating anyone within the workplace. If Rory had read the handbook he would know this but he clearly doesn't care. Rory can't understand why Cece was so quick to tell him no until he is in the locker room and hears an all too familiar voice...
As the story continues, Rory and Cece can't seem to stay away from each other and they "hypothetically" start dating. They make a deal that when they are at work or around the team they will remain friends so that nobody suspects anything. Everything is going smooth until her ex comes back in the picture and wants to get back together with her and all hell breaks loose.
If you love love sports romance and duel POV then this is the book for you. I can't wait to read what is next with The Coastal Coconuts.
THIS BOOK. I ended up reading this book based on a comment I read in a kindle / book group on Facebook. It did not disappoint. I am forever a Rory and Cee fan. This story is everything I want in a book: love, workplace romance, past relationship trauma, a man loving a woman the way she should after being treated terribly, and spice. This was my first Angela Parkhurst book and it WILL NOT be my last. I loved the details in this book. I often find some books lack detail to help picture the scene or the moment, but this one does not. This book had me tearing up, laughing, and rooting for the main characters. The love in this book is so relatable as well. One of my new favorites that I will be recommending to every person I know. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!
Oh I loved Cece and Rory’s story so much!! They had me smiling like crazy. Loved the guys from the team and all the supporting characters too. Covered some serious subjects that need awareness pertaining to her mom and her ex but overall gave me all the warm fuzzies! Can’t wait for the next one! Um also, where can I find some Coastal Coconuts merch now?! Because I need it.😅⚾️🥥
I am an avid reader and obsessed with all things baseball, banana ball included. This book was promising to me.
Oh my, it fell horribly short. This book would have been better with an ounce of baseball research. Granted, I know a lot about baseball and banana ball, so that’s my opinion. But, you don’t have to know too much about the sport for this to be not so confusing and problematic.
Along with the inaccuracies, the characters’ names bothered me to much. There was so little creativity to this story, almost all the characters’ names were real players.
The love story was incredibly flat and cringey but that’s just my opinion because I do not like insta-love stories.
Two stars because I really did laugh a lot at the issues with this book, and because costal coconuts is creative.
I had hopes for this one and it fell exceptionally flat. It was redundant in so many ways and cliche in the worst ways. Some of the characters were likable but that’s because they are inspired by real people. The names were barely changed which made it feel uncomfortable at times. I wanted something from this book and this just wasn’t it.
A good forbidden workplace romance with a plus side fmc who loves her socials/fashion and is a kick ass media marketer for the coastal coconuts (think savanna bananas) and catches the eyes of one of the players.
I loved the concept of the book. But I wanted more coconut comedy ….. there was a sprinkle. But i wanted so much more!!
It took a minute for me to warm up to this book. It started off with some major insta love which I was not in love with. But it grew on me as it went along. It could have used a little bit more editing. I loved the relationships amongst everyone in this book and that Cece was able to find family even when her real once was shit. Overall, this was a fun book to read!
There were so many grammatical errors. Also, how many times does he need to say “baby” in one chapter? I counted at least 15 times in one chapter. I felt like there should have been a lot more character development and I was sad to be on chapter 4 and they already fall in love!! It has great potential..

Such a cute baseball romance. The characters are exactly what you expect they should be fun and energetic while the FMC has some trauma from her previous relationship. The MMC helps to remind her how great she is all while falling in love. As always Angela I cannot wait for your next book.
I wanted to love this book because I had seen it recommended so many times. I forced my way through it even after considering DNFing multiple times. It was truly one of the cringiest books I’ve ever read.
This book is a fun, Florida, curvy girl romance with a little bit of spice! You’ll root for Rory and CeCe on and off the field the whole way through! Easy read you won’t want to put down! ❤️💛💙
I love this book so much. It’s a perfect lighthearted romance. I love the characters and I want to be Cece’s friend. It had some cheesy moments, but overall I recommend if you need something light and easy to read!!
WOW! This book was funny, steamy, and very well written. I'm not a huge baseball fan but it seemed accurate. I will definitely be reading more books by this author!
This is such a cute book and I loved the characters! Somewhat based off of the tiktok famous “Savanah bananas” baseball team. Falling in love with the risk of loosing their jobs? Yes please
This book was really cute. I love a baseball romance they are my absolute fav of of sports romance genre and the fact that this one was inspired by the Savannah Bananas made it twice as good
