im tired of this. this danmei gave me such a headache and made me weak and dead. i finished this through sheer will to get it over with and see what would happen but so… tired. what the fuck happened here.

the first part of this was really cute - i enjoyed reading it a lot. there was good development and the characters were pretty solid. after a certain point, i was tired of the fluff and was expecting something more, but that wasn’t a major issue. the biggest issue i had in the first part was the weirdass way the sex was done. this is fucking alpha x alpha. it’s not supposed to be like alpha x omega. why was there a pregnancy scare? why would that cause the shou to lactate and get bigger breasts? why are we always talking about wombs? why are we into breeding? like, please. treat it like a fucking alpha x alpha. there wasn’t even that much omegaverse homophobia to make this good in that aspect as well. i just felt like i was reading a traditional omegaverse with class division.

the second part and the transition to it… bro. there was this horrifically ass plot in the end of the first part that was so bad to read. i was so bored and tired. it felt so dumb as well. all the conflict that resulted from it was so stupid and could’ve been easily resolved. the second part could’ve slightly be done well with some well-done angst but that wasn’t present. there was no natural progression. there was just stupidity on stupidity and so much boring shit. everything became either so stupid or so boring.

and then it pissed me off that the main character was so passive. sometimes it’s okay but, it just got too much. he could’ve prevented so much but he was just being there and being an idiot. just use your words. and in the second part… he was grown. act like an adult.

such a horrid experience reading this. only giving this two stars because i enjoyed some of the cuteness of the first part a lot. sigh, if only it could’ve lasted…

A really good book I preferred the first half to the second but I still liked it a lot 💕 Xu Zu is such a simp I love him 😭 he suffered so much, Lu Heyang needs to protect him and cherish him at all cost even though he'll probably be satisfied with just being with Colonel Lu 🥹 the side couples were really interesting WHERE IS HE WEI AND CHI JIAHAN'S BOOK ?

Edit March 2025 - I'm upping this to 5 because the longer I'm away from it, the more I like it. This story has stayed in my mind all this time even as I've read so many other things - it's truly a stand out story

I REALLY liked this - but I did have a few too many problems to be able to say "loved."

First, the positives - this book has AMAZING characters. Xu Ze and Lu Heyang are so incredibly real, they feel like actual people rather than just characters on the page. I am so, so attached to them and loved spending so much time with them. Their relationship and dynamics are also just so perfect - the chemistry between them is incredible and it had me blushing and kicking my feet every time they interacted (which was basically 900 pages out of 1,000).

I really loved how Xu Ze and Lu Heyang (and all of the characters tbh) didn't fit into archetypes or stereotypes - again, they all felt so REAL. I loved that Xu Ze and Lu Heyang honestly had similar personalities, I'm a bit sick of the opposites attract/grumpyXsunshine dynamic we have in EVERY book nowadays. I liked reading about two quiet boys <3

The story was also interesting - tbh this isn't a story I feel like I should have liked (i'm not a big fan of stories of rich people, or poorXrich couples, or gangs/mafia/anything with organized violence) but I found myself lost in the story because it was a perfect balance (FOR ME) of romance vs these plot lines. I liked how we didn't get TOO into things that it became too much plot, but enough to keep the story moving and interesting enough.

Now, the negatives are mostly about the omegaverse elements of this story because I'd like to call myself an expert on the subject lol I'm a HUGE fan of non-traditional omegaverse, so an alphaXalpha non-trad omegaverse was absolutely up my alley but... there were so many things I just didn't love
- I felt like the author almost regretted writing alphaXalpha half way through and decided to basically just treat Xu Ze as an omega (like, why was he nesting? why did we have a whole , why did he have "ruts" that seemed to be exactly the same as omega's heats?) I really wish she leaned more into the alphaXalpha dynamic - the fact that we never saw them fight was a tragedy to me
- I feel like this story could have just not been an omegaverse and it would have basically been the same story - I only was reminded of the fact that this was a/b/o when they mentioned 'alpha' or the pheromone bracelets but even all of that was VERY minor
- going off of the last two points, I felt like the author only wrote this as omegaverse/alphaXalpha to be able to write a story about homophobia because if you got rid of the omegaverse then it really is just a normal story of two guys dealing with hiding a relationship due to judgmental, homophobic parents.

The only other negative I had was the middle gets quite boring - theres a solid 250 pages I felt were very repetitive/could have been cut. I can overlook that in danmei a lot, but 250 pages was a LONG time to feel bored

But, overall, the positives far outweighed the negatives, and I really REALLY liked this story. but i'm even more excited for book 2!! I feel like I hear about book 2 ALL THE TIME and could tell half way through this story that the author really just wanted to write about our book 2 couple lol (which I can understand, I did that with my fantasy series too), so I'll be diving right into that one next!!

MY MAN WAS STANDING ON BUSINESS.

Chi Jiahan y He Wei eran tiernos. Pobrecito He Wei, kkkk.

PD.

This might be the best ABO book I’ve read, which, considering my general dislike for the genre, isn’t saying much, but it really was enjoyable.

Xu Ze was stubborn in his independence and noble in how he refused to endanger anyone he cared about (even to his own detriment). However, the author did a good job at portraying these qualities as being negative as well because he would purposely not ask for help and be self sacrificial to a terrifying degree.

Lu Heyang was a little mysterious because we were almost entirely in Xu Ze’s perspective, so occasionally, I thought that Xu Ze cared more, but time proved I was flawed in this assumption. Everything he did from the middle onwards was for their relationship and their future. He might have only been an enigma because Xu Ze never wanted to believe he had a chance and develop hope for something that would fail.

Their situations started off negative with both of them pursuing freedom and being unable to reach it, but it ended with them freeing themselves and starting a new relationship on more even terms.

Omegaverse story featuring Alpha x Alpha relationship

The story is well-written and detailed enough that it leaves you wanting to know what happens after each chapter.

First arc centers around their high school years and is generally really fluffy, they have a falling out and that is when the second arc starts, with both the ML and MC being adults with successful careers. (if I had to compare the angst level, I'd say it's on par with Wait For Me After School, where the reencounter isn't dragged out and feels realistic and romantic)

My only complaint would be SPOILER

Overall, 4.5 read, but a definite recc for anyone who likes Alpha x Alpha pairings!

I really enjoyed this novel a lot, although there was a brief period in the middle where it felt a little slow, I think it was more due to the fact that I was anticipating the amnesia tag and the time skip wondering when it would happen and worrying about how. Although the actual forgetting part was sad, the part that really hot me the most was when Lu Heyang finally remembered Xu Ze and Xu Ze finally allowed himself to process the emotions and cry after having shut them off and pretending he was okay the whole time.Xu Ze really had it tough not only does his grandma not remember him, but Lu Heyang forgot him twice, so I’m really glad Lu Heyang decided to get his memories back!

Xu Ze is too good, honestly, like he always does his best and doesn’t complain no matter the situation!! It truly hurt my heart reading sometimes since he felt like he wasn’t deserving of anything and he never held any expectations towards anyone. I know this is most likely to protect himself from being disappointed to prevent himself from breaking down but it really broke my heart reading about it.

Ah I am also really glad that Lu Heyang is a good person, given Xu Zes tendency to just go along with whatever lhy says, if it were someone with a bad personality they could easily take advantage of that.

Xu Ze and Lu Heyang are such a sweet couple even after forgetting Xu Ze when meeting again he still felt the compulsion to get close to him again. Although they kind of take it to the next level, I think it is nice that they try to solve things without trying to cause a burden on the other. They do try a bit too much which leads to complications in the story, but the idea is nice, as they show they want to look after each other. After all the pain they went through I’m glad they can finally be happy together without having others trying to ruin it or make their lives worse.

I have to be honest: a danmei novel has to be very bad or boring for me to stop reading. Most of them are quite entertaining, but I do have mixed feelings about this one. I don't like omegaverse, but I said whatever, a meal is a meal! However, that part of the novel is surprisingly not the biggest turn-off. The novel is in general a mess: it doesn't clearly convey what it wants to tell because every story must say something, right? So at first, the MC is this poor guy who has to fight in an underground ring at 17 to help pay his bills for his sick grandmother. As his parents died, she's the only thing he has in the world, but she has dementia so she doesn't remember him (without criticizing the way mental health is portrayed. It's pretty ambiguous as I can't say it sucks, but I also can't say it's good).

The MC is in love with another rich kid from his school and has been since he met him years ago. Things happen, they become close, and the ML starts to fall for him. They're both minors, and I don't know if I'm a hag, but the sexualization of the MC in that underground ring is... well, interesting, as it's never condemned. He's seventeen! Why is he fighting with a skirt?! I agree with that review that said the author regretted making the MC an alpha at some point as he even gave him a pregnancy scare (because they fuck all the time, what happened to studying?). And the most interesting part, which I suppose it's the most criticized part of this, is that the MC is a doormat. But not your typical doormat. His self-esteem is really low, so despite fucking and being with the ML all the time before the time skip, he doesn't expect him to love him, or entertain the idea of being with him for real as the ML is rich and has a promising future and his family probably wouldn't allow them to be together. Anyway, I liked that at some point his doormat behaviors were interesting: someone deeply scarred wouldn't believe they could be happy with the pseudo prince charming of the school, but I wished that it was because he didn't love him. Not because he loved him so much that he'd allow the ML to do whatever he wanted with him. Don't get me wrong, the ML is a real lover boy most of the time, and he's very doting, but *Lestat's voice* you don't know this person. Why does he trust him so much? It makes no sense and it's unsafe as hell!

Things happen, there's a time skip, and the ML forgets him (it's on the synopsis so I don't think I'm spoiling anything) and the MC is still a doormat who trusts the ML too easily. Again, the ML is a decent man so it's not a problem in the narrative, but it should be. This novel is the #5 on Weibo regarding novels, so I must be missing something. The #1 is the companion novel of this one, with a side couple, and I have chismosa virus so I'll probably read it. Still, I imagined something completely different from this novel. At least it didn't stop me from reading, but so many things could have been better 🤒.

It's not a perfect 5* but there's too many positive factors, I think the novel deserves it anyway this time. (I still need to read the extras)

This was my first omegaverse and I probably won't make a habit out of it, but I still enjoyed it very much and the reason is simple: the amazing characters.

The author is definitely the kind that writes whatever they want, without remorse and I'm happy about that because it worked in their favour.

Since the description provided isn't very reliable, typical of a danmei, I'll summarise is at such: Xu Ze (MC) has had a crush on Lu Heyang (ML) since he was 7, but he never thought their paths would cross...Boy, was he wrong about that.

Our MC is an absolute sweetheart. I thought he'd be your average aloof MC but that was not the case. Sure, he was introverted, but he was kind, hardworking and honest. He loved ML to the point of selflessness - he would be fine with anything he'd give him, even if he was just an NPC in his life. He's the kind that never asks for help and doesn't want to burden others, but wouldn't hesitate to help you instead.

As for the ML...as every Lu in danmei, he's outstanding, beautiful, amazing etc you get it. He was so weird in my eyes, I couldn't understand him but at the same I felt like it was very obvious what he was trying to do. I can't explain with proper English, but you'll understand if you read it. There's a thing I know for sure: he fell for XZ twice and he'd do it again if given the chance

A very long rant + critique on this book because I feel somehow writing this justifies all the time that I wasted on this book.

I just finished reading this, and no, don't let the gorgeously melancholic title fool you.

Because if the story carried even half the emotional weight as the title, we'd be reading a masterpiece. But alas, all the eternities, all the feelings, all the unsaid things, still stayed unsaid. Why? Because our main character - He. Froze.

Now, I came into this book with real hopes. It's written by the same author who gave us Imprisoned in the Eternal Night, and while that one had its fair share of flaws (trust me, I have notes), it still managed to be a decent time-pass read. I picked this up with genuine excitement because this time the pairing was Alpha x Alpha, which I really love and enjoy for its heated dynamic.

Instead, what I got was: Alpha x... a submissively frozen houseplant.

Let's talk about the main pairing: both Alphas. Sounds spicy? Nope. Because one of them, Xu Ze, is supposedly an Alpha, but if it hadn't been spoon-fed to us by the author, you'd think he was written as an Omega by accident and they never got around to fixing it. Actually, scratch that, I've read stronger, more commanding Omega characters than whatever his was written as. The only signs of his Alpha-ness were some [spoiler]occasional pheromone clashing mentions when they were together and some one-line action/attempt towards marking the male lead.[/

That's it.

His entire persona is composed of four actions: He froze, he dazed out, he froze again, and he nodded.

That's his entire character arc.

MC Pre-time skip? Froze. MC Post-time skip? Still frozen.

If this story had a drinking game based on the phrase "he froze," I'd have died of alcohol poisoning by chapter 15.

Now another point, I get what the author tried to do: build a "pure-hearted, uncorrupted poor boy" archetype. From the very start, Xu Ze is shown to be comically selfless to the point of absurdity. Eg: He washes and tries to return back the containers which his rich boyfriend delivered food in. Tries finding detergent to wash the face towel he used to wipe his mouth with after staying over at Lu Heyang's mansion. I mean, okay, Xu Ze, we get it. You're the poster child of humble peasantry. But please, tone it down. From the very start, we were being spoon-fed his oh-so-noble "I return everything, I accept nothing" attitude, but even that doesn't evolve. And yes, the book tries to romanticize the fact that he remains unchanged as some kind of poetic metaphor for eternal love, that their love remained unchanged, so he did too.

Like, no.

He remained unchanged because the author had no idea what kind of character he was to begin with and clearly realized this around chapter 70 that the MC had no personality, so what do they try to do? Tries to justify it in-story. Suddenly, side characters start calling Xu Ze: "robotic", "mechanized", "blindly obedient". His best friend even gets exasperated and throws some blunt, long-overdue truths at him, and for one fleeting second, I thought, finally, a turning point. But nope. That too gets buried in the echo chamber of just how poorly his character is written.

Even his backstory, which, on paper, should've screamed layered trauma and grit, just... doesn't. Xu Ze was literally an underground illegal boxer, trying to make quick money for his ill grandma, he lost both his parents in tragic, violent ways and yet somehow, even that couldn't give him a backbone. He isn't brooding or hardened or even quietly enduring, he's just faintly present, like a background blur in a photo. It's like trauma was thrown in for depth but used like a sticker, not a shovel.

Meanwhile, Lu Heyang, our main lead, gets the full deluxe treatment. He's rich, commanding, emotionally intelligent, sexually dominant, politically powerful, has BDSM kink and comes with the mandatory tragic past. Sure, he's a little too perfect, but at least he's a character, a fully-formed one. Xu Ze, the MC? He's not even orbiting around Lu Heyang he's just dissolving in his shadow. Every move, every emotional beat, every decision is filtered through "Lu Heyang." It's less romance and more emotional servitude with sparkles on top.

And then comes the seven year time skip, where you'd expect growth, recovery or maybe even some identity re-formation for Xu Ze...Nah. Still frozen. Still nodding. Still tragically loyal.

There's one scene post-amnesia that had me screaming through my phone screen...in frustration...

Lu Heyang, trying to piece things together, asks: "Was our relationship important?"

Xu Ze replies: "No."

Lu Heyang presses: "Not important to you, or not important to me?"

Xu Ze says: "To you."

Because in his inner monologue, he justifies that since Lu Heyang succeeded in life without their memories, clearly, it wasn't important.
Like... WHAT?

That scene had the potential to be heartbreakingly poignant. But nope & that's what frustrated me the most. I understand grief. I understand trauma. I understand unrequited longing. But what I don't understand is why Xu Ze is allowed to exist for 100 chapters as a hollow echo for Lu Heyang. He's a man who lived a difficult life, boxed underground to pay medical bills, watched his parents die, took care of his grandma, but came out of all of it with, no fire? no edge? no sense of "Hey, maybe I deserve to be a person too"? It's one thing to write a quiet, soft character, it's another to write one who has absolutely nothing going on except reacting (barely) to the ML's existence. And that's the thing, no matter how much the author tried to decorate Xu Ze with traits like "pure" or "dignified" or "stoic," when it came to the actual relationship, he had zero dignity and even less backbone. He didn't hold his ground even once. He never said, "Hey, I'm not the same person anymore." He didn't say, "I have my own life now." He didn't say anything, really because...say it with me -  he froze. And yes, I get it, it's for the plot, it's for the drama, but at this point, it just feels pathetic.

Xu Ze doesn't have self-preservation. He doesn't have dignity. He doesn't even have that emotional fatigue. Just... a permanently stunned character.

This could've been a beautiful love ballad for dynamics steeped in angst and growth. The stage was there. The conflict was there. But instead, we got - A (probably still) "Frozen" MC.

In the end, I'm still mad I read 85 chapters while spiraling in frustration. But maybe that's the real genius of the author...

English title on Novel Updates: Eternities Still Unsaid Till You Love Me

This was a nice and short read set in the ABO world about two alphas getting together. I haven't read a lot of these, but honestly the ABO aspects didn't play a huge part in the romance since it's about two alphas.

It starts out with our two characters, Xu Ze and Lu Heyang, in high school. The former is a poor scholarship student who fights in illegal boxing rings after school to make money for his family's medical expenses, while the latter is from a prominent political family with lots of money and clout. Through some coincidences, they have some minor interactions, and then finally Lu Heyang starts taking more interest in Xu Ze when he sees him fighting in the ring.

I was expecting a sweet high school romance, but it's much more than that. Initially it starts out a bit like that (but with less fluff that I was expecting/hoping for), but then the author cranks up the angst and our two characters don't see each other for a couple years before finally reuniting again. My favorite part was probably the beginning, as they're just starting to get to know each other, as they have really good tension between them. Even though the start of their physical relationship was super sudden and took me by surprise, there was a nice build up to the relationship and they had some super cute moments, like when they celebrated Xu Ze's birthday together by camping.

It's inevitable given their situation in life, but one thing that always broke my heart was how passive Xu Ze was towards their relationship. He knows that Lu Heyang is high above him, and because of that he never allows himself to have any expectations for Lu Heyang to help him or even for LHY to stick around in his life. For Xu Ze, he wants to be greedy and get as much as he can from LHY before LHY leaves his life, and he's content with that. Even after many years apart and LHY comes back into his life again, Xu Ze is happy to just enjoy every moment together and not have any expectations for further interactions. Poor Xu Ze has gone through so much with all his family members leaving him one by one, and I just want him to fight a little bit harder for his own happiness.

I was a bit worried in the middle when they separated, since the circumstances in which they separated were kind of crazy with LHY's amnesia, and I had to keep reminding myself that this is a HE story. Reading about Lu Heyang rediscovering Xu Ze again wasn't as frustrating as I feared, since LHY is smart and quickly realizes there's more to their previous relationship than what Xu Ze is telling him. Everyone else might try to take advantage of his memory loss, but Xu Ze is the only one who doesn't and tries to keep the status quo. And at least now they can meet more as equals, since Xu Ze has established a career of his own and has been recognized for accomplishments in his field.

I also got a huge kick out of one of LHY's childhood friends, He Wei, only finding out about the two being together when the story was almost over. He's seriously one the most clueless side characters ever XP

I would say Lu Heyang is my type because he is literally a gentleman and wonderful man and he never hit Xu He even respected him, loved him and treated him like he was his most precious treasure

I just realized this story took me three months to finish. However, the reason is not because of anything negative but because I was crying so hard at many parts and then, I seriously didn’t want to finish it. My heart and soul were not ready to let my favorite reading of the year go.

Even now that I finished the last chapter and the extras published, I am not ready to let them go. I found everything in this story so well done. Even the moments I couldn’t stop crying. It has been so long since I found myself in another character, reading Xu Ze’s thoughts was like diving into my head. Usually I find it hard to read characters that I relate too closely to. But Xu Ze was different. I truly understood Lu Heyang’s love for him. Or how much Chi Jiahan wanted to protect him. Or why He Wei was so comfortable with him. I love Xu Ze so much. I was crying my ass off in the last pages. He truly deserved that happiness and even more.

And let’s not talk about Lu Heyang, God, I feel like I was having true feelings every time he sacrificed himself, every time he protected Xu Ze, every time he teased him and treasured him. Everything about this story was so good.

This is my third story from the author and I seriously love the way she develops her stories. At times, it might feel too dramatic and maybe it is but she knows how to develop it and crush my heart in an instant. Hugeee fan of everything she has going on here.

I feel like I could talk hours about these characters and story but I kinda feel like crying so I will just start praying for a Chi Jiahan and He Wei story. The extras got me craving for more. Also, please, I need to know what Lu Heyang and Xu Ze’s married life looks like. I seriously do! Let them get married now.

Anyway…

I’ve spent months reading this book, not because it was bad but because I take my time with it. It’s not even that long (at least for danmei standards), but the pace of the story makes you want to savor every chapter instead of devouring the book.

Xu Ze is going to stay with me forever, remembering him as one of the most selfless but also longing characters I’ve ever read. Reading him was like a soft, tender hug with a bittersweet loosening. I can’t describe how much I adore and care for him, he truly suffered a lot and had to grow up very quickly, losing the happy childhood he was supposed to live. I’m so glad he had Heyang to rely on finally making him to feel loved and protected.

As for Lu Heyang, that man has everything you would want for a Gong: reliable, respectable, caring and loving. He never let Xu Ze carry all his problems and deep sorrows all by himself, Heyang is always there for him, always reassuring him, not with word but actions. His love for Xu Ze is strong and real enough to go against the odds and even after life takes away precious memories and time from him, he’s still sweet and kind to Xu Ze.

Definitely these two suffered more than enough in their lives, but fortunately they got the happy ever after they deserved. I’m so in love with this book, the slow burn and our main characters. I will never forget them. ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

genres that i usually stay away from (abo and high school) but this was actually so good 😔😔 an easy read and surprisingly light hearted despite the angst... but then again i read modu last which had me shitting my pants so. definitely more romance than anything and any plot is done for the romance yk. i love both main characters their love is very sweet and i love xu ze with everything he is so dumb but its ok bc lu heyang never explicitly told him he loved him thats why he was insecure the whole time. he thought they were nothing meanwhile lu heyang told his dad they were ex boyfriends. (they "broke up" when he had amnesia hes stupid too) so im gonna blame their lack of communication for that. lu heyang you better communicate your love from now on so he knows you wont leave or something. also i think its so funny that two alphas being together is considered gay in this universe not that they're both men 😭 diversity!!
if anyone actually reads this my bad idk why its so long i am actually passionate about this i could talk about it more and i have in ishikas msgs sorry about that (she had no idea what was going on)

i think chu wanning finally has some competition when it comes to underestimating one's position in their beloved's heart 😂 even though the rich high society elite x poor and destitute orphan in debt trope has been done to death, it was so beautifully written here that it didn't feel corny at all. i love when the MC has self awareness and realistic expectations about where their relationship is going and in this case xu ze's constant pessimism (which totally makes sense from a rational point of view like I would probably feel the same way if I were him) was so bittersweet and ANGSTY i loved every moment of reading it. i do feel that And also the last few sentences of the book were truly ALARMING I really don't know why the author wanted to end the book in such a way. Thankfully it gets cleared up in the extras.

!favoritado!

an alpha x alpha omegaverse story with wonderful characters and great plot.

this was so so good. xu ze my little baby 🥹🥹 he never expected anything from lu heyang no matter at what stage in life they were in and just took whatever life threw at him. lu heyang doing everything he can to make xu ze become happier and honest with him🥹

the amnesia plot was good and i loved how lu heyang still felt connected to xu zhe even after it all when they met again.

read this back in may and happy to see the book on goodreads🥺

FULL REVIEW SOON CAUSE I HAVE TOO MANY QUOTES HIGHLIGHTED 💕

it was genuinely an easy read!

the storyline is straightforward, no unnecessary information or plot holes. the characters are all likeable (well at least the main ones are) and lu heyang & xu ze relationship development is well written and isn’t rush at all. i love a good dynamic where two people are calm and chill towards each other rather than sunshine x grumpy/ energetic x tired (these two are the best example!)

after months of reading historical danmeis, i can say that this book is like a fresh breath of air for me. gosh i really wish this would get official english release.
