About the author

Cynthia Woolf is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of eighty-five works of romance fiction. Comprising sixty-six historical western romances, ten contemporary romance novels, two contemporary romance novellas, one historical western romance novella, and six sci-fi space opera romances, which she calls westerns in space. Along with these books, she has also published twelve boxed sets of her books and two short stories.

Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance, Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia's father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede, that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy, not a bounty hunter, and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now), not the ranch owner.

Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband, Jim, and her great critique partners for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

Three women, one of whom has two children, embark on a ship to sail from the eastern United States to San Francisco. Each of them has signed a contract to be a mail-order bride. Nellie's story is first. She is the mother of two who lost her husband in the Civil War. She has been at the mercy of her in-laws for three long years and is now heading to marry a saloon owner. Blake has vowed that he will never fall in love but he does want a wife and children. I just love stories with kids in them and this one did not disappoint.
Annie's story is next. She is a preacher's daughter and she signs a contract to marry a man involved in shipping in San Francisco. One day she arrives at Nellie and Blake's door a widow, destitute and in labor. Blake's business partner, Nick happens to be there and he carries Annie upstairs. It seems that Nick has had a thing for Annie since she first arrived with Nellie and Cora. After Annie has her baby, Nick offers her a job as a cook at his and Blake's saloon. Annie accepts even though she's worried about what her father will think. Nick and Annie have several obstacles to overcome if they are to ever find a happy ending together.
Cora's story is last. She contracted to marry a banker but got a major surprise when she reached the hotel in San Francisco. Instead of one suitor she now has two! She tells both men that they may court her and she will decide after a reasonable time who she will marry. One man is hiding great secrets and one man will have to win back her trust and then there is a possibly insane mother to add to the mix. This story kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next.
I enjoyed all three of these interconnected stories very much.

I liked all the characters and the storylines are new, interesting and fresh. The interactions between characters all working together was refreshing. Usually all conflict. Of course, there are villains and how they try to ruin their lives, giving the stories enough mystery and uncertainty, that it keeps you turning the pages to see how they realize their feelings and get their HEA. I also like the epilogues wrapping up the stories nicely. Well done.

I have previously read all the novels in this box set and found myself empathizing with these desperate women in the wake of a devastating war that robbed them of their men and left them in dire straights. Each of these stories are standalone books and although the ladies have to face almost insurmountable challenges, they finally find love with kind, protective, and loving men, as well as a place to call home. I received these books as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Nellie, Annie and Cora are heading to San Francisco as mail order brides and become friends on the ship. They meet their future husbands upon arrival and separate, each going her own way. These stories show how their lives intertwine later. I really enjoyed these stories and recommend them.

Entertaining Western Romance Box Set

Nellie, Annie, and Cora are looking for a fresh start as new mail-order brides. Will they find love? They will face tough challenges, and even deadly danger. Can they overcome the obstacles in their way? If you like American historical romance with suspense, you might enjoy these entertaining stories as I did.

I thoroughly enjoyed this volume and each individual storyline included!! These are very brave strong women that I would be honored to emulate as I travel through this life!! This author really can articulate strength and passion in her writing!!
