It has a good premise, but it’s over before anything ever really happens.

As others have noted, this is written by someone from a non-English speaking country trying their best to write an English story. While yes, the grammar and syntax is very off, it is not so poor as to require a struggle to understand the story. In fact, I thought it had the inadvertent effect of mirroring the reader/author’s struggle to communicate, to that of the Alien/husband trying to understand each other’s existence. Like Halas, the alien comes from a world where its kind is very different from us, and works to both understand and communicate with this new species. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought the language style actually enhanced the story; I’m not sure it would have been as interesting if the English was perfect.
Predator, on the other hand, displayed a much stronger grasp of English. There were only a few times I was reminded Halas was a non-native speaker. I can’t really say much on the story itself without spoiling it. There were a lot of questions, regarding why or how things were happening. But the story wasn’t about the why or how, it was about a character uncertain of his future facing it and deciding for himself if it suits him. The bizarre happenings only provided an interesting way of telling that story.

Not bad. I thought it was well written and interesting. Just not my genre or cup of tea. More of a fantasy guy. But I thought it was great. Keep writing.
