In Falling In Time, aspiring writer Lindy Lovejoy knows all about happy endings. But when she travels to Scotland to research Celtic myth and lore, she never expected a chance to live her own storybook romance, until a stop at mystical Smoo Cave whisks her back in time and into the arms of Rogan MacGraith, a Highland hero who’d burn up the pages of the steamiest Scottish romance novel.
Falling in Time originally appeared in the Mammoth Book of Time Travel Romance / 2009 / Running Press.
Sue-Ellen MacDuffie was born and raided in Florida. She is a card-carrying Scotophile whose burning wish to make frequent (free) trips to the land of her dreams led her to a twenty year career with the airlines. Bi-lingual, she flew international all those years, working her flights as foreign language speaker. Her flying career allowed her to see the world, but it was always to Scotland that she returned.
Now a full-time writer, she’s quick to admit that she much prefers wielding a pen to pushing tea and coffee. She spent fifteen years living in Europe and used that time to explore as many castle ruins, medieval abbeys, and stone circles as possible. Anything ancient, crumbling, or lichened caught her eye. She makes annual visits to Scotland, insisting they are a necessity as each trip gives her inspiration for new books.
Proud of her own Hebridean ancestry, she belongs to two clan societies: the MacFie Clan Society and the Clan MacAlpine Society. In addition to Scotland, her greatest passions are medieval history, the paranormal, and dogs. She never watches television, loves haggis, and writes at a four-hundred-and-fifty year old desk that once stood in a Bavarian castle.
Sue-Ellen is married and currently resides with her husband and Jack Russell Terrier in Florida. Readers can learn more about her and the world of her books at: www.welfonder.com.
I just found out that Allie MacKay writes also as Sue-Ellen Welfonder. And she writes what I love, Scottish Time Travel Romance! I could not have found better! This was a very short story but is a perfect beginning story for Mrs. MacKay's Highlander series. I really wish I would have found this sooner. Ms. Welfonder told a wonderful love story about two people who time or place was not going to keep apart. I will not do any detail in depth on this one because it is a very short story, but it was well worth the time to read. Not only were these two destined to be together in a different time, but also different lives as well. One of the things that I love about Mrs. MacKay's writing is she will pull you into the story and make you fall in love with Scotland. You feel as if you are right there with the main characters experiencing all the wonder of the land. And for someone like me that has never traveled, it is an amazing feat. You connect with these characters and nothing short of a happy ending will do!..Wonderful read Ms. Welfonder/MacKay! I am now a devoted fan of your writing! :)
I loved this story! It is romantic, suspenseful, and magical! Liddy is a writer trying to sell a manuscript when she comes up with a plan to travel to Scotland, the country of her story, and write a travel guide filled with Celtic myth and lore. While doing research at a mystical cave, she is transported back in time to another era and into the arms of the man she was always meant to be with. The authors have packed a lot in this short story and it is well worth reading! I highly recommend it!
A wonderful short novella, perfect to read before bedtime to set the mood to hope for such a romantic dream. The characters are so perfect for one another, it must work out for the HEA ending. Time travel is such a sneaky premise for a romance, never knowing when or how it will happen and then whether it will remain for that obligatory happy ending. Falling in Time is a perfect blend of paranormal with historical romance to give the medieval time reader an enjoyable romantic interlude.
This review is for Falling in Time and The Seventh Sister, 2 short stories.
FALLING IN TIME
What a fabulous little read. A story of lives lived before and time travel. Rogan and Lindy were wonderful characters and their seeing each other in dreams and in spirit form was simply magic. There was some sexual attraction and when they finally got together there was going to be sex but the story ended on that. It wasn’t much of a read but it was a good read. I especially liked the little old lady with the little black boots with red plaid laces.
THE SEVENTH SISTER
I love all the magical stories Sue-Ellen Welfonder/Allie Mackay write, and I’ve read several of them several times. This story is no different. Maggie and Conall are a sweet couple who long for each other for years after meeting one day in Ireland, twelve years ago. They finally got to be together, thanks to the little old lady with the little black boots with the red plaid laces.
FALLING IN TIME by Sue-Ellen Welfonder is a quick, Scottish Time Travel Romance. I read this title previously and loved it so much I also purchased a copy. A quick read, only approximately 104 pages, but, packed full of Ms. Welfonder's magic, passion of Scotland and her romantic intrigue. The characters are memorable, the storyline is unique and magical. I like the way the author brought this story to a satisfactory end, while having an impact on the reader, in a few pages packed full of Scottish Romance. Perfect for readers of Time Travel, Historical Romance, Scotland, quick reads or waiting at the Doctors office. An idea way to past the time! PLEASE, don't let the number of pages stop you from purchasing a copy of "Falling in Time". An enjoyable and very satisfying read!
Lindy Lovejoy kept having dreams of a highlander whom came to her , so she tried writing a novel of him but got his name wrong. Upon her trip in Scotland for research he tells her she got his name wrong. Fatefully one day she travels to smo cave and tries to save her Highlander and learns the true cause of their bond. While ms Lovejoy falls thru time you will fall in love with these characters.
A short read but well written and great for one of those days you want to read a good but short novel.
I came across this while looking for a time travel romance and decided to give this novella a shot. I was just confused for the majority of it. It made little since to me. I needed background and character development. I think they were trying to keep it with in the page requirement and sacrificed many things necessary to the story. I needed way more for me to enjoy this. It was too short and left too many things in the dark or way to confusing to follow.
A short story packed with mystery love and history. When you do a happy sigh at the end of the book you know it was a good one. Love the historical description that your imagination takes you there instantly written beautifully with great characters.
Falling in time takes you on an historical Journey that will stay with you for a while.
Although its short its very intense and has depth that you can relate to the characters I loved it.
Lindy and Rogan. Two souls destined for each other and time cannot keep them apart. They keep feeling and seeing each other through dreams and when Lindy takes a trip to Smoo Cave in Scotland, time thins just enough to bring them together. I was left with a warm feeling in my heart when I finished this story. :)
I thought this was a delightful story!! Full of whimsy and second chance of love!! loved the little lady with black shoes and plaid laces!!! It is so nice that she ties all the books together!! I enjoy seeing her every time and she played a bigger part in the story!! Loved the seeing the doggie too!! He was welcoming Lindy to her rightful place!! It was fast read but full of sweetness!!!
This was a cute short story. Emphasis on short. I hadn't realized when I bought it just how short it was, so the jump from hello to I'm staying felt like a jump to light-speed. My fault for not reading the page lengths. Still, it was sweet. I just would have liked more.
