Former FBI agent Harry McCoy is an out-of-work lawyer, and not looking to change that any time soon. Holed up in Miami aboard his sailboat, Hobo, waiting for hurricane season to end, Harry shoots a button man for the mob (in self-defense) and soon has a price on his head, two new clients, and more trouble than he bargained for.
Author Douglas Karlson has revived the likes of J.D. MacDonald's crime solver, Travis McGee. Harry is a former FBI agent, former lawyer, and is only trying to escape his failed path that led to the death of a former partner. He lives aboard the sloop "Hobo" in Miami, getting ready to make that escape to hopefully a peaceful, laid-back life in the sun with a bottle of beer. That doesn't happen. Again, he's embroiled in murder, mystery, treasure hunting, lustful women, and dog-napping. Simply said, I loved this story and the style of the author, who I think wants to be ... Harry McCoy!
