USA Today bestselling author Jane Charles is a prolific writer of over fifty historical and contemporary romance novels. Her love of research and history lends authenticity to her Regency romances, and her experience directing theatre productions helps her craft beautiful, touching stories that tug at the heartstrings. Jane is an upbeat and positive author dedicated to giving her characters happy-ever-afters and leaving the readers satisfied at the end of an emotional journey. She is a lifelong Cubs fan, loves wine tastings, and lives in Central Illinois with her two huskies and husband. She is currently writing her next book while planning her dream trip to Europe.
The many twists and turns in this short novel (eleven chapters) are just a bit too predictable. There is nothing here to make the story stand out from others in the same genre other than references to a traditional Scottish custom for marriage.

Okay short story about a girl, Katrina, who is alone in the world after her father's death and needs a position as a governess. Her father ran a book store and had a secret room of erotic literature. Katrina has read these books, and although she has no sexual experience, she is curious about what she has read. She fixes her attention on Lord Timothy.
Unfortunately there is little character development, so the reader doesn't really know why they are attracted. (1/11/2012)
Re-read in March of 2013. Upping my star rating fro 2 to 3!
Men!
I really enjoyed Handfasted. I had never heard of this ceremony before and think it should be applied in today's society. The relationship between Lord Timothy and the ever curious Katrina was steamy hot. I have now finished all three of the (To Love a Governess) Novellas. By far, Sacked and Handfasted are my favorite. The fact that this story includes references to books (naughty ones), a lending library, and bookstore made it a great read for me. Would recommend to all Romance fans.
