FINDING HOME is about moving forward, after losing, and finding that love does exist on the other side of heartbreak. It’s about having the courage to take down walls and follow your heart to your destiny. And it has just the right amount of steam and suspense to keep the readers turning the pages!
Avery Scott is the quintessential Midwestern girl, her life revolves around making her family happy and being a good wife, daughter, and friend. After a nasty divorce, she knows now is the time to live for herself for once. Before she can change her mind, she relocates to San Diego. She knows there may be one nuisance in her new adventure, in the form of the mysterious Damien Focelli, but she’s done letting fear (or a man) lead her life. Little does she realize, Damien is the key to releasing the real Avery.
Damien Focelli has spent the last four years in a downward spiral after the loss of his daughter in a tragic car accident. A moment of divine intervention helps him put the bottle down and begin to live again. After years of not feeling, the feisty Avery Scott ignites something within him. While he tries to show her he is a man of his word, he also has to keep a secret - a secret that could put both their lives in danger.
When these two have a second chance encounter, Damien doesn’t want to blow it, even though he can see Avery’s walls from miles away. Avery’s been charmed before so her trust in men is nil, but there is something about Damien that makes her feel safe. Before these two can build anything lasting though a stalker will try to stop them from going any further. Their happiness depends on believing more in their love than the fears that could destroy everything.
Amy O’Neill (real name Amy Miller) lives in Southeast Michigan with her son and two rambunctious dogs. She has been writing for over 20 years, but never had the courage to put her work out there until she completed FINDING HOME. Now, Amy has over a dozen more books that she is working on and will be publishing several a year.
In addition to writing romance, Amy works full time as a receptionist for Corporate America, but dreams of the day when writing is her career. She enjoys being a girly girl and watching her son grow into a man.
This is a traditional romance. I'm glad the ending was happy ever after. I'm fifty-five years old and widowed but I'm still waiting on my happy ever after. A good read.
I really enjoyed reading this novel. I liked the story line- moving out and moving on, and I really like the characters- both strong and vulnerable. I'd definitely read more material by Amy O'Neill.
I read this book on my Kindle e-reader, which was a birthday present months ago. I was pretty stand-off-ish about it, because I love real books. I think liking the book so much made me like the e-reader a bit more than I had expected :)
This is a free book from the Goodreads First Reads giveaways. This was a love story following Avery Scott and how she fell in love with Damien Focelli when she moved to San Diego, CA. Although the plot was predictable, I found that I could not stop reading this book. The author did a good job with descriptions and dialogue, although my copy of the book did contain a lot of typos.
I love reading romance, it takes you to another place where dreams do come true. This story does just that. I love this story, it felt real. Everyone deserves a second chance. I thoroughly recommend this book.
Predictable and dull. Full of spelling errors, at times I couldn't tell what the sentence was supposed to mean because there were extra words. Far too much detail in the decor of the rooms, I don't care what color the throw pillows are. The characters were not believable at all. It's a good thing I won this book through a Goodreads Giveaway, if I had spent money on it I would have been upset.
So, I passed this book along to a friend and she completely LOVED it. She was obsessed with the characters, cried while reading it, and is already reading it a second time. Thought I'd add this to my review cause it's always a good feeling when a book finds a loving home.
Finding Home by Amy O'Neill is a terrific love story. Avery and Damien are both coming from a bad place, lucky to find each other. Add in some half truths and a super creepy stalker, and this book has a recipe for success.
It was a nice story but a little too much of the same old, same old for me. If I'm reading a romance, I want it to have more of a twist in the outcome. Unfortunately, this was too predictable.
