Miss Eden's Garden

Rate this book
Mystery/Comedy/Romance
When Angie Eden dies unexpectedly, she leaves her property to her favorite niece, Sunny Eden. Zoning laws prevented the kindhearted Angie from collecting rent, so she took in a boarder for free. Sunny is willing to continue her aunt's generosity, but she hopes the professor will pay the utility bills, or the mortgage. Before she has a chance to broach the subject, she finds his dead body in Miss Eden's Garden.
Sunny is convinced it was an accident, but Ramsey Lynch, the handsome deputy sheriff, labels her a murder suspect. Relying on what she learned from reading and watching mysteries with her aunt, Sunny sets out to prove her innocence. As clues surface, it seems everyone in Joshua's Junction has a motive ... including Sunny!
Ramsey must ignore his feelings for Sunny and do his job 'by the book'. Sunny is learning to do it all 'by the Book'. Eventually, they hope to find themselves on the same page.

Mystery Light

Ramsey and Sunny search for the murderer of her boarder, Prof Whitsel. This tale bogged down in the middle for this reader but had a satisfying end. Small town, cranky cat and main characters were best part.

Pleasure to read

Family friends are important to these characters. They're well developed as is the story line. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Sunshine “Sunny” Eden inherits her beloved Aunt Angie’s house and garden in Joshua Junction after her untimely death. Sunny decides to move to Joshua Junction despite her father’s concerns. One morning as Sunny is walking in the garden she discovers Professor Whitsel’s body…dead body. Deputy Ramsey Lynch hears Sunny scream and takes off running to her house. Ramsey’s hostility toward Sunny through me off and the way he suddenly starts accusing Sunny of murder without even investigating or having any real evidence. Sunny decides to try to clear her name and find the real killer.

This was a well written book with a good plot. It really was a good book, for me it didn’t have much suspense or romance. I think there were opportunities for suspense but it just didn’t make it. Also there were a few moments that didn’t sit right with me; for instance, when Sunny was threatened and after Ramsey arrested the guy, Sunny was more concerned about not wanting to play the organ at church. If this was a coping mechanism to focus on something else, I wish it was explained.

Love Ms. Adams books

I always enjoy a good mystery and this was no exception. The clues, the interaction between the characters, the "rumors" all combined to lead first one direction then another. Just about the time I thought I figured it out another twist in the plot turned up to lead to a new place. Fun to read this one.

No rhyme or reason

I tried to get into the book but it was so silly and foolish. The conversations were absurd and I felt frustrated trying to find a reason to continue the book. I just closed it. Too much of nothing.

Somewhere between 2 and 3 stars for this book - kind of silly but enjoyable enough. I've read better by this author.
