Lorelei Collins possesses a soft heart for any animal in need, so when she finds a buffalo calf bawling beside its mother's lifeless body, she can't help but bring it home to raise on the ranch she and her sisters are building in the Rocky Mountain wilderness. Little does she realize that its white coloring is rare and considered sacred by Native Americans, which makes it highly valuable to them and the European trappers alike.
A flood of men visit their ranch to regard the marvel, some trying to woo Lorelei into marriage so she'll bring the buffalo calf along as dowry, and others trying to steal the calf outright. When the men's advances become more sinister, she approaches Tanner Mason, the quiet and mysterious owner of the new trading post, with an idea: She and the calf will move to his post, along with her family's trusted Blackfoot friend. This will solve both their problems, bringing customers to his trade room and protecting her family from the trouble brought on by so many strangers. Yet as the danger travels with her, Lorelei and Tanner are faced with a threat greater than anything they're prepared for--one that will test the limits of both their abilities and the love growing between them.

Guess who finally got the audiobook from Libby after an (exactly, to the day) 4 month wait...MEEEE!!! Now I have to wait another 3 months for book three to be released...yes, that's me wailing in the distance, thank you for noticing.
Lorelei immediately captured my heart with her gentle nature. She's the most like me out of the sisters, I also can't resist an animal in need. And Curly was just so precious, a cute little baby. He deserves all the love in the world. I'm glad everyone was able to keep him safe.
Tanner was perfect for Lorelei, protective, (much like Riley), and he couldn't help but love Curley too.
Both this, and the romance between Juniper and Riley, felt natural in their progression, you can just feel the characters falling in love with each other as you read/listen.
We also got to see Native beliefs about sacred white buffalos on page, it really brought the story together nicely.
You could read this as a standalone, but it's better to go back and read Rocky Mountain Rendezvous first, so you're introduced to all the characters and the background plot that stretches throughout both of these books and the next ones too.
I know I'm also going to love Faith's book (which is next up), but I have a feeling Rosemary's will be my favourite in the series, based on some crumbs we got of her and White Horse.
Now if you'll excuse me, I must go into hibernation until June 18th when Rocky Mountain Journey will finally grace the world with its presence.
This book follows Lorelei Collins, sister of Juniper Collins from book 1. She has such a heart for animals, especially animals in need. In this story, we see Lorelei and her sisters on their ranch in the Rocky Mountain wilderness as she finds a buffalo calf without its mother. She brings it home to their ranch and soon realizes its a rare and sacred animal to the Native Americans, making it very valuable to them and the European trappers in the area. Many men come to the ranch for the calf, many with ill intentions. Tanner Mason, the owner of the new trading post, sticks around to help Lorelei by allowing them to stay at his post for safety reasons. Danger looms though, a bit too close to home....
If you like a good western romance, pick this series up! I think I enjoyed book 1 a bit more, as the pacing in this was a bit off for me, but I overall enjoyed it and love Lorelei as a character! I love a good character who loves animals and wants to help. She has such a beautifully compassion for them that is very honorable. Tanner was a nice guy who wanted to protect her - and we see Lorelei opening up to the idea of it!
I also LOVE seeing the family relationship here with the sisters and seeing Juniper again was great! Overall, a solid western series that I have enjoyed following along with and look forward to the next one!
Thank you to Bethany House for providing a copy to honestly read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I adored reading another installment in this series featuring four sisters who are traveling west in hopes of fulfilling a promise to their late father.
The return of Riley and Juniper was delightful, but the story of Lorelli and Tanner was just as wonderful. I love Lorelei, she’s such a sweet, kind and caring soul who loves animals. Reminds me so, so much of my own little daughter. But Lorelei also displayed a great sense of strength and grit, which is what all four sisters required as they traveled out west.
Great, heartwarming historical romance. I can’t wait until the next installment, and I’m hoping it involves Rosie, the oldest leader, and spitfire of a sister because this book hints at a wonderful story brewing there. The youngest sister’s story remains an exciting mystery and I hope to find out more there, too! I really enjoyed this story. Well written, and well done as always.
Thanks to the publisher and author for an advanced copy. I was not required to give a positive review.
While I appreciate a good wilderness journey adventure (which this author excels at writing), the atmosphere of the ranch and the fort brought a more homey vibe as Lorelei cares for the buffalo calf and Tanner establishes his business. Lorelei and her sisters show a great deal of care and loyalty for each other, and Tanner fit right in with his protective nature and desire to help solve problems. I also admired the sisters' Native American friend White Horse, whose mother they are searching for. It seems that the search will be the overarching plot that connects each book in the series. The white calf has a mystical history with the Natives and mountain men, and it was interesting to see to what lengths men would go to lay eyes on the calf, touch it, or just plain steal it. Lorelei and Tanner have their hands full, even with the help of White Horse, and the pace of the story increases as they protect the calf and the store while taking care of the ranch, Lorelei's sick sister, and coming close to finding the elusive Indian mother.

This is the second book in a new series by Misty Beller, Sisters of the Rockies. It picks up about 6 months after the end of Rocky Mountain Rendezvous. I recommend reading Rendezvous first, if you haven’t already, as most of the main characters are introduced in that book, and it sets the stage for this book.
Once again, I stayed up way too late reading the book. The plot twists this time don’t involve the various tribes as much as how a trading post owner deals with greedy trappers. There are special animals that play a big part in the book, and of course, there’s a love story.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own." #RockyMountainPromise #NetGalley
Aww such a cute cute story! I loved this one. It felt like it was kinda a retelling of me and my hubby's relationship. Lor was an avid animal lover and Tanner was out west trying to start over and prove himself. Curly was adorable and having lived amongst the Sioux myself, I knew the legend and importance of the white buffalo. It was interesting to see how she played that part out. Overall a cute fast read. Romance was well done with enough action to keep it moving. A nice change of pace from what I normally read. Definitely gonna have to read the last book at some point as I really wanna know Rosemary's story now.
This second episode of Rocky Mountain Rendezvous features Lorelei, the family’s younger sister. She is an animal lover, so when she sees an abandoned baby white buffalo she has to stop and help. She is unaware that this buffalo is sacred and considered lucky by the natives.
As owner of the nearby trading station, Tanner is aware that the animal would attract unwanted attention to Lorelei and her family. The locals would do anything for the chance to see and touch this buffalo.
These endearing characters are instantly likable and gripping as they deal with some horrific circumstances. I like how the author rolled Lorelei’s family drama, danger, mystery, a splash of romance, and the outlaws into a compelling, insightful novel. Although you could read this on its own, it’s best to read the first one in order to catch up on the experiences this family has already endured.
This authors’ novels take readers on a wild ride through history and the joys and hardships the characters go through. It makes me appreciate the times we live in. This is a wonderful escape and one that would make for an intriguing book club pick.

I bonded with the Collins sisters in book one, so I’ve been eager to spend more time with them and greatly looked forward to book two – Rocky Mountain Promise. Beller’s writing voice is warm and engaging, and she is particularly skilled at making the Rocky Mountains setting – as well as the characters – come alive on the page. Let me tell you, I devoured this story! It read super quickly for me, and I enjoyed every minute of Lorelei’s story from the instant she rescues the adorable Curly to the sweet epilogue at the end.
Lorelei has a tender heart toward animals, particularly those in need of rescue and/or healing, which is how she finds herself raising an orphaned white buffalo calf and fielding the many curious people who come to see the rare creature that is the stuff of legends. Enter Tanner Mason, the owner of a new trading post nearby, who quickly develops a growing affection for Lorelei that battles with his feelings of inferiority. I loved getting to know Lorelei better in this book, and I thought Tanner’s character was the perfect match for her. And vice versa.
Of course, there will be obstacles in their path that need to be overcome before a happily-ever-after can begin (or it would be a very short story indeed) but there’s no denying the chemistry between Tanner & Lorelei or how they support each other’s weaknesses with their own individual strengths. Specifically, I thought the spiritual journey that Lorelei walks with Tanner was meaningful and touching. The subplots involving Curly, Juniper, and White Horse, as well as Tanner’s challenges with the trading post, added several layers that gave this historical romance more depth and dimension. There are some threads that I feel will continue into the next book, and I’m really looking forward to a possible romance between Rosemary and White Horse – not to mention still wanting to find his mother!
Bottom Line: Rocky Mountain Promise by Misty M. Beller is an adventure-filled trip out west with strong characters (women included!) who knew how to survive in conditions that would send most of us running back to our cherished amenities. Lorelei’s valiant spirit co-exists with her tender heart, both serving her – and Tanner – quite well in this story, and I loved watching these two grow from strangers to friends to more. Usually I’m gushing over the hero’s protectiveness, and Tanner definitely delivers some swoony moments on behalf of Lorelei’s safety, but I absolutely adored how Beller flips the script in this one – in more than one way. I could, in fact, talk about this at length, but I’ll let you discover it for yourself. Another charming and absorbing read from this author!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
I thoroughly enjoyed returning to the setting of the Rocky Mountain wilderness in this second book of the Sisters of the Rockies series. Reading book one, Rocky Mountain Rendezvous, before this one will help you understand in more detail why these sisters moved out west. However, even if you haven’t read the first book, I believe that you can jump into this story and be transported back into a time and place where supplies were not easily obtained and many did not survive.
Tanner and Lorelei made such a sweet couple. Tanner was a strong, smart, and kind man who clearly had a good heart. I liked the way he looked out for Lorelei and her sisters right from the start. Yet, due to events in his past, he viewed himself as not quite worthy of Lorelei. I loved that Lorelei was able to help him see his value as one of God’s children and also his importance to her.
It was not easy for Lorelei, Tanner, and White Horse to keep the little buffalo calf safe from those who wanted it for themselves. Time and again, danger was brought to their doorstep by unscrupulous men, determined to have him for themselves.
Rocky Mountain Promise had a nice blend of romance, danger, and even the struggles of day to day life in a rugged land. I look forward to the next book in the series.
(4.5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I found this story both fascinating and entertaining. Hey, I love animals; what can I say? I also love the Rockies; I lived many years in the foothills of the Front Range. Since I like history, it was interesting to learn more about the white buffalo. It warmed my heart to see how devoted Lorelei was to protecting the white buffalo calf, and to nourishing it. It was also surprising to see the lengths she went to do just that. If you're an animal lover, and a history buff, you will definitely want to read this book.
Wonderful story of the American frontier in the late 1830's. Misty Beller pens a sweet story of family, centered around four sisters that are full of grit, ready to face the challenges of survival in the Rocky Mountain wilderness.
The author skillfully weaves details of the overarching plot from the first book in the series into this second book so that it can be read as a standalone. In this story, readers meet Lorelei, whose sweet spirit is perfect for tending the animals on the girls ranch. As she nurtures an orphaned white buffalo calf, she finds unwanted attention endangers those she holds dear causing her to rely upon the owner of a newly built trade post to help. As their friendship deepens, the future looks full of promise.
With an endearing cast of characters and several unexpected plot twists, I found myself lost within the pages of the story. This was the first book I have read by the author, but definitely plan on reading more. Looking forward to reading more of the Collins sisters in future books in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher thorough Netgalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I totally went back in time with this book. The writing was so engaging that putting the book down was a difficult thing to do. The characters were real and unique. The storyline was new and fresh and original. The setting was rugged yet beautiful to visualize. It was so enjoyable that I highly recommend it to you. I can't wait for what the author will write next. I don't want to miss any of her books. This book had lots of unexpected events. And it blends in well with the first book of the series. This rugged period had so much to deal with and so different than today's life, that it was fascinating to see what things occurred to those forging a new life in a wild and untamed land. I can't wait for book 3! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lorelei has always loved animals and comes across a rare albino buffalo calf. She decides to take care of it on her and her sisters' land. The Native Americans say it means blessing, and you cannot harm it or trade it. Unfortunately, they have no milk to feed the calf. But luckily a new trader, Tanner, comes along with a milking cow, and they do business together for the milk. When others, hear about the buffalo calf, they want to see it, touch it and even take it for themselves. Tanner, decides to bring Lorelei and the calf to his trade post to keep them safe but will it be enough?
This is book two in the series. I really liked the story of this one. I thought it very interesting with the white buffalo element. I loved seeing all the characters from the first book return. I really liked Tanner and felt bad for him with his past. Lorelei was so caring and considerate of Tanner's feelings. I loved their relationship, and chemistry. There are great faith elements throughout the book. We also get a glimpse of a possible romance starting for one of the other sisters. This historical romance story was the perfect blend of romance, adventure, danger and faith. Overall, a great read and I definitely recommend!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from netgalley . All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series but this one was even better. The Collins sisters are such strong woman who are always there for each other. Lorelei has a big heart for animals and finds a sweet little white buffalo calf she names Curly. He definitely steals the show in this book and ends up bringing a lot of trouble for the sisters and Tanner. Through all the turmoil, Lorelei ends up showing Tanner that he is worthy of not only God’s love but her’s also.
I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
It was so good to be back with the Collins sisters again. If you haven't read the first book I recommend you read it just because it introduces you to the sisters. The first book was about Juniper and this one is about Lorelei. Although you will be able to follow the storyline fine if you pick up this book first, its always nice to have a bit more background story on the characters plus there is a continuing storyline that still has not been resolved. I am hoping we get a bit more on the next book.
This book has a little bit of everything. Adventure, action, suspense and romance. Misty sure does know how to interweave all of those elements into a great historical background that not only transports you to the scene but makes you invest yourself into the characters.
Lorelei has a love for animals and her family. She loves big and at first she isn't quite sure about Tanner. Tanner is the owner of the trading station and although is not looking for love, he is intrigued by Lorelei. He has some past hurts to get over and Lorelei helps him see that God sees him a different way and loves him no matter what.
Overall I really enjoyed the story. Misty brings faith into the story and weaves into her writing flawlessly. It is present but not preachy which I thought was very well done. If you enjoy western historical romances then you will definitely enjoy this story.
I received a copy of this book for review. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This mountain girl loves a good mountain story, and the immersive writing in this really captured the perils and beauty of the old frontier with Native Americans and trading posts. I really connected with Lorelei's character as a fellow animal lover and nurturer, and I loved how Tanner came to know God in his own life. Excited to see how the mystery concludes in the final book!
I enjoyed reading this next book in the Sisters of the Rockies series. I loved getting to know more about these women and their lives out West. I loved seeing Lorelei's love for animals and how she will do anything to protect them. I also liked how protective Tanner was of Lorelei and the buffalo calf. I liked seeing their romance grow as they worked together to protect the calf from unscrupulous men. I also liked the sisters' relationship and how they were such a tight knitted group. I'm looking forward to reading about the other sisters in future books.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
“Rocky Mountain Promise” is the second book in the Sisters of the Rockies series, it has the strength and foundation to work as a standalone read. I love the interesting ties to Native American beliefs and tradition! Such an interesting premise and opening to this story!
Lorelei is such an interesting character, and so easy to connect with. I love her devotion and dedication to the little white buffalo calf, Curly. And I was quickly drawn to Tanner, who reveals a protective and kind nature. I knew these two would complement each other from the get-go, and eagerly rooted for them to discover happiness with each other.
This story of hope is wrapped up nicely with elements of faith and romance. The perfect read for animal lovers and lovers of romance.
First Line: A knot of dread twisted Lorelei Collins’s middle as she studied the dark hump in the prairie ahead.
#CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% mine.
Rocky Mountain Promise is the second book in the series. While I did read this series out of order, I suggest reading them in order since there is an overlying plot for the series. This book continues with their journey of trying to find someone. The FMC is an animal lover and I loved that about the book. I liked that the MMC felt like he wasn’t good enough and the FMC had to tell him that he was. Overall, this was a good, easy book to listen to.
Rocky Mountain Promise had me hooked from the very beginning. The Collins sisters are back and Lorelei’s story might just be my new favorite — who could resist a baby white buffalo named Curly?
When Lorelei saves a baby white buffalo she has no idea what she’s gotten herself into. The first issue is how to feed it, solved by Tanner the owner of the newly built trading post not far from their ranch. When word gets out about Curly, visitors descend on the ranch, some out of reverence, some curiosity, and some with their own motives.
This book gives a sweeping picture of life in this era, painting vivid pictures of trappers, migrant tribal settlements, and villains amidst the backdrop of hills and plains, mountains and valleys.
When Tanner offers to remove Curly from the ranch for the safely of the Collins sisters he has no idea Lorelei plans to accompany the buffalo. Things may just have gotten more complicated than he imagined.
I love the characters in this series. The author has a grasp on writing siblings — their connection, similarities, and personal uniqueness — bound up in their love and respect of one another. Perfection.
Tanner is strong, protective, yet vulnerable in ways that draw you to him. His growing interest in Lorelei and friendship with White Horse played against his doubts about himself made me want to urge him on to greater things.
There’s a thread of faith that winds itself into the story in an organic way that speaks to both believers and nonbelievers alike. Who can resist a message of hope in the midst of great storytelling?
I received an copy of this book courtesy of Bethany House. This is my honest opinion. I highly recommend this book for lovers of western historical fiction.
This book was fun and easy to read and quite possibly more exciting then the first.
Negative Content
A mention of a story about a young girl turning into a buffalo calf.
A mention of the possibility of Indians worshiping a calf.
A mention of someone thinking that if a woman wore revealing trousers often, he would have even more trouble keeping his promise to protect her virtue.
I greatly enjoyed reading this book and the funny moments within. I would definitely recommend, although it may need tweaking just a little bit before passing on to a younger reader due to some age appropriate content (a horse giving birth). Can't wait for the next book in the series.
Another great mountain adventure story from Misty M. Beller! Rocky Mountain Promise continues the story of the Collins sisters, focusing on animal lover Lorelei. I loved all of the animal characters in this book! I enjoyed both Lorelei and Tanner’s journeys, and I’m excited for more in this series. 4/5 stars
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
What an amazing series with adventure, mystery, a puzzle to solve, and God's love shown throughout. This is book two and focuses on Lorilei Collins who falls number three of the four sisters. Lorilei is the animal whisper and has a special way of healing and calming the wounded strays she finds along the way. The sisters have set up their horse ranch and are doing well when Lorilei finds an orphaned buffalo calf. The white buffalo will bring danger to her family, so she devises the only solution she can come up with moving to the new trade post to care for and protect both the calf and her sisters from those that will try to steal him. What she finds there is so much more than protection.
Tanner Mason has left his home in Boston to come west and open a trade store and to find his place in the world hopefully. When he meets the Collins sisters he is immediately taken with Lorilei and will do whatever is necessary to protect her. The trouble for Tanner is he needs to protect his heart from her.
This book is packed full of adventure and danger. Our group is still in search of White Horse's mother and with each clue they hope they are getting closer to finding her. It kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next as it is so well written and interesting. I loved every page and am eager for book three to see what happens with the sisters next. Each book is part of a series and the stories continue, but the books are focused on a sister so they can be read alone. I highly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.
This was a beautiful second installment in the “Sisters of the Rockies” Series! This group of strong, courageous and spunky women -the Collins sisters- are becoming very dear to me! The first book was Juniper’s story. This is Lorelei’s. There are still two more, Rosie and Faith. I love the strong bond they share and how they always have each other’s backs. Lorelei Collins has a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially those in need. So, when she finds a white buffalo calf bawling beside his dead mother, she immediately decides to take it home to the ranch she and her sisters are building with so much effort in the Rocky Mountains wilderness. She doesn’t realize that the white buffalo are quite unique and considered sacred to the Native Americans, which makes it very valuable to them and trappers at the same time. Soon, men are arriving at their ranch to see the calf, some wanting to woo Lorelei into marriage, others trying to steal it outright. When dangerous things start to happen, Lorelei reaches out to her new neighbor, still not truly sure if she should trust him. Tanner, who has just arrived and built the new trading post is looking toward making a profitable business and needs no distraction, but his kind heart makes him feel very protective of the women that live nearby and need every day of the milk his cow provides to nurture their new calf. So when Lorelei proposes to move to his post, along with the calf, and their most trusted Blackfoot friend to keep everything proper, to take away the men from the ranch, he accepts, but little does he know the danger it will bring to both him and Lorelei. Will he be able to protect her? And should he also protect his vulnerable heart from her charms or is it just too late? As I said, totally I loved Lorelei’s story! She and Tanner made the perfect match. Lorelei has a huge heart, not only for animals, and I think I also related to her because I love animals too, well at least my pets. Lorelei is straightforward and I loved the spunk she had. Even if she was scared, she wasn’t afraid to confront the men that threatened her calf and her family. I also liked how she lived her faith and prayed naturally, and also inspired Tanner to get closer to the Lord. Tanner was a wonderful hero. He had his insecurities, due to his past relationship with his father, but he was very capable and wasn’t afraid to take his own risks. He was very kind hearted and compassionate and I loved his protectiveness of the Collins sisters, particularly Lorelei. Their romance was sweet and endearing, it made me sigh. Another thing I loved was the secondary characters: the Collins sisters, Riley, White Horse. They all felt like family and I can’t wait to read Rosie and Faith’s stories soon! Although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend to read it in order: you get to know better the Collins sisters, how they started the ranch, their quirks and personalities. All in all, a wonderful story that I highly recommend! I received a copy of the book from the Publisher but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is the second book in a series, so far, and it is a great series. Misty M Beller has written a book with a strong female lead character who is also gentle at the same time. I loved Lorelei, who will fight for what is right, protect what is hers, and care for the weak and wounded--man or animal. She is proficient with guns, horses, and healing.
Lorelei's story begins with her finding a dead buffalo cow and a young calf nearby. The calf is no ordinary calf, it's a white calf, which is extremely rare and a lot of legends hold that it brings good fortune to its owner or its people. Lorelei made sure that the cow was, in fact, dead, loaded the calf on her horse and rode back to her home. Soon after she returns home, Tanner Mason the owner of the new trading post comes to the ranch where Lorelei lives with her sisters and White Horse, a Blackfoot Indian.
White Horse works around the ranch helping the sisters and training the new horses on the ranch. He is an invaluable friend to the girls.
Tanner becomes a lifeline for the calf, because he has a milk-producing cow and they are able to buy the milk for him. He also becomes an invaluable friend to the girls, but especially to Lorelei.
White Horse and Tanner both end up protecting the calf from those who would steal it. When a Sioux tribe moves in close to the girls' ranch, the girls decide that girls would be best protected by moving the calf to the trading post.
There are a couple of sub-plots woven into the story that give color and depth to the novel. There is romance in this narrative, but it is not overwhelmingly sugary. While this can be called a romance novel, Misty does not follow the "Romance Novel Formula," instead she writes a story that flows organically. Her writing style makes the book hard to put down and easy to lose sleep over. It is a five-star book, with two thumbs up, and a White Buffalo calf to bring you blessings.
Bethany House Publishing provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
Escape to the Rocky Mountains in 1838 for action, adventure, and romance! In the time of trappers, supply trains, and trading with Native Americans in the West, this story delivers suspense and adventure as Tanner and Lorelei work together to survive and thrive while caring for animals, family, and friends.
Honestly, the first book in this series (Rocky Mountain Rendezvous) and this second book (Rocky Mountain Promise), are the first books I have read my Misty M Beller. I ADORE them! I feel like I must have been living under a rock to not read her work sooner. She delivers action adventure romance in the same vein as Karen Witemeyer, Jody Hedlund, and Mary Connealy but in her own unique storytelling style and settings. I adored the deep characters, the vivid descriptions, the exciting action, and the swoony romance! I will be reading her backlist of books as soon as possible!
Although Tanner’s constant self-doubt seemed to be repetitive, his redemption arc as he finds his value in Christ adds so much depth and truth to the story, and I loved it. And although I don’t connect with Lorelei’s strong love of animals (to the extreme degree she adores them), I did love how she showed her family and friends that they are more valued and precious, and she was able to help lead Tanner to Christ.
Tanner and Lorelei’s romance is the stuff of dreams, and their interactions are both sweet and swoony. I always love a combination of a protective hero and a spunky heroine!
I highly recommend that readers read the bonus epilogue on Misty M Beller’s website too! Tanner and Lorelei’s happily ever after is the sweetest!
Be sure to grab the first two books of the Sisters of the Rockies series! I cannot wait for the next installment!
I received a copy of Rocky Mountain Promise in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own. I really did love it!
The second book in the Sisters of the Rockies series, author Misty M. Beller has written another romantic wester that readers will love. Readers who love the TV series Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman are going to love this exciting story. It has the same sweet western feel, and focus on family, and of course a charming romance. Indians, trappers, and a female who loves to doctor animals. It’s also fun for readers to learn about the white calf and what white men and Indians alike would do in order to steal it. The characters in the story are likable and charming and easy to relate to. This book is for readers who want to go on an adventure in the American west.

I love that this author is a gifted storyteller, like sitting on the back porch listening to a relative telling a captivating story that has you engrossed. This is book two in the Sisters of the Rockies series. I was thrilled to read more of the Collins sisters and see what they have been up to. I love the characters and imagery that pulls me into the book. It’s like taking a step back in time to 1813 and living in the wilderness of the future state of Wyoming. Lorelei is a tender, caring person who loves animals so it’s only natural for her to take a white buffalo calf to care for not realizing at first all the adventures that will ensue trying to protect it. Tanner is the perfect hero for her and I love the sparks that fly between them. I love the character of White Horse and the storyline of trying to find his mother that continues from book one. This is a wonderful story that was inspiring and heartfelt. I can’t wait for book three and highly recommend this series. I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. I loved this story. It was sweet, endearing, with just the right touch of danger. Not to mention it had a baby bison!
Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes and this one had an excellent set up. The assumptions, the tension, the protective qualities from all the different angles. This was such an enjoyable read.
If I haven’t gushed enough yet … this story also had characters who had personal challenges to work though, making them relatable and real. Plus, it’s set against the Rocky Mountains.
I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read Rocky Mountain Promise and I cannot wait for book three!
