Reindeer really do live in the North Pole and are very furry (sorry, Rudolph). Antlers break off and re-grow. Most animals in the deer family actually have bones under their skin that grow outward. They use them to fight for females or territory. They are very plentiful and only eat plants. Their climates have to be cold, and they pull sleds in the snow. "Caribou" is another word for "reindeer."

Deer are such delicate creatures, and this magazine taught me a lot about them and their habits.
