When told to get rid of the baby or be a single mother, Weslynn chose the latter. Being a single mother to her son, West, wasn't easy but it was rewarding with every day she spent with him. She had a support system who consisted of just her mom and cousin, Dayvon, but the day she depended on Day to help her, was the day she collided with Savage.
Derez, known to the streets as Savage, was a chill, money-making hustler who did what he needed to care for his sister, Sionna, and niece Sidnei. He wasn't looking for love, but when his path crossed with the beautiful Weslynn...love found him.
2.5 The concept was cool but a lot of it felt unnecessary. I’m not a fan of all of a sudden things happening that weren’t happening before. To me it feels forced when it would make the events make sense if they were on going issues. I also didn’t see the point of having her act like she didn’t like him, I would have enjoyed it more with more on page time together instead of all the back and forth and play dates with Si. Savage was an ok character but it all felt under developed. Kind of like a bunch of random events thrown together.
I’m so mad it took me this long to read this book. When I say I enjoyed this book from start to finish. It was legit everything I didn’t know I needed. Or maybe it was want I needed yesterday when I picked it up. Either way, Savage and Weslynn’s story gave all the feels.
It’s crazy how 2 people were kind of drawn to each other (Savage & Wes) yet no matter what Savage attempted, Wes blocked him at every chance. It was the damn I wanna go there with you BUT aht aht, I’m not about to do that to myself. It was when Savage decided he was going to get Wes that things went up. Baby he made his decision and he didn’t change his mind or back down not once.
I mean West was team Savage over everything and Mama just wouldn’t get onboard until she got on board. It was how Savage stepped behind West for me. I mean you couldn’t tell him that wasn’t his son. If a man can speak to your child and your child listen and reacts even better than they do with you, who ain’t finna snatch’’em up. TUH! Weslynn almost missed out on a good man. Cause baby Savage was a GOOD MAN.
Just know once Wes became his girl, no one else mattered. He was not coming up off her. The way they communicated through everything from small disagreements to him almost unaliving or wanting to unalive someone was everything to watch. Outside of his sister and niece, his soft spot was Wes and West. Das it! That man did not play when it came to those 4.
If imma be your man and you gone be my girl was 2 people it was Savage and Wes. Even when she had that big chip on her shoulder. To see Wes soften up and let Savage in, YES!!!!!! I mean Savage stepped BIG behind West and his step daddy energy was HIGH. If you haven’t read this book yet, you are truly missing out. You did your big one Miss MaMas.
This was an alright but cute read. Wes wasn’t beat for Savage.
A lot of inconsistencies. Can you lock eyes with someone that has dark shades on? Si was 5’10 but Wes called her short and she’s only 5’0. First Wes worked at the grocery store, then it was Walmart. Then the author randomly gave the MMC locs at the end of the story. Some misspelled words and names.
I wanted to love it because I love me a good stepdaddy trope but it was just ok to me. Weslynn was infuriating to me because she had a lot of misplaced anger because of her BD. She was straight up rude and mean to Savage for way too much of the book, to the point where I almost wanted him to be like “k you got it mama, imma move around”. Savage was a decent alpha MMC. I do think the first half dragged on a bit with the back & forth, but then the ending felt super rushed.
STEP DADDY SAVAGE ATE DOWN. This was a quick read and I loved every second of it. I was literally laughing out loud and it kind of felt like one of my homegirls was just telling g me a story as I read it. This was also my 100th book for the year!!
K took us back to Law Grove and this time gave us Savage and Wes. Savage was everything that Wes and West needed. She almost missed out on a real man by letting her ex live rent free in her head. Whew😅 Overall, an enjoyable story.
I absolutely love this book. Savage is a MAN, he made sure to never play games with anyone and he surely wasn’t playing about Wes! I love how hard he fought for her but also respected himself enough to know what would be too much.
When a man comes into your life and proves that he is worth letting your guards down, YOU LET YOUR GUARDS DOWN. Derez was a hell of a man to West and Weslynn, and they both deserved every bit of his love and protection. A lovely story.
So glad Westlynn is willing to move heaven and earth to protect and love West, her 3 year old son. When her baby daddy told her to abort their baby, she told him to kiss her as....uh foot! He was as sleazy as they come.
Derez (Savage) is a hustler that recognizes a queen when he meets one. I really loved how he stepped in as a father figure to West, when that little boy needed and wanted one so desperately!
This was okay, but it was missing something and the ending was a bit rushed. Wes got on my nerves, though she handled her business, she was very emotionally immature and nonsensical. Her baby daddy wanted her to get an abortion and when she didn't he just left blocked her on everything and went on with his life. She refused to put him on child support, to me it was just prideful. He comes back three years later wanting to see his son supposedly all of a sudden, she easily agrees though she threw out threats, she gave him a few chances and he was a no show, she finally decided to cut him off from her son after seeing him with his baby mama and their son who is the same age as hers smh. She gave Savage a hard time from the get go, her attitude was bad for no reason. And her reasoning and treatment of him because of her deadbeat baby daddy was childish and immature. I was really ready for Savage to move on from her and let her stew in her self imposed misery. All in all, it was an okay lazy day read.
It’s just something about a man who wants to love on a woman… love her kid( s), and help her forget about anyone before him.” The author words not mine and this is so true , that’s why I live for novel’s that the person have no Barriers of loving you regardless of your situation just pure love.. especially the kids man!!!! Yep going get me every time! Loved this so much! Sometime the cat & mouse game is not so bad…. You want me let me know how just how bad .😩😍
What I enjoyed the most about the story was the journey was well put together and we saw him chase her, and her heal through her trama. I really enjoyed the pace and this being a standalone you get a complete story. Single mom needs healing, love and a friend... finds it and and get a man that not only wanted her at 10000% but called her son his!! This was a good read. A few typos but they didn't takeaway from the story.
What I Loved: - [ ] Family bonds- I loved how Savage was with his sister Sionna as well as Dayvon and Weslynn. The relationships they had with one another was normal family dynamics however they always looked out for each other. - [ ] Parenting: Weslynn and Sionna were great mothers to their kids. They don’t entertain foolishness around the babies and I respected. that. They were not ratchet either. Thank you for this narrative because these women had class. - [ ] Chivalrous moments: Savage being such a gentleman with manners was awesome. It was kind of funny with the name he went by and what he was capable of was opposite of how he carried himself. I’m fact he didn’t really be outside to be honest. He was good in the house chilling. What I didn’t like: - [ ] Honestly nothing. I truly enjoyed this story for all that it was. This was my first K. Nicole story that I’ve read and I truly enjoyed it. For this to be under 200 pages, the story was complete. She allowed time progression and the slow burn was welcomed. I loved their conversations where they got to know one another and this story was done right. I recommend this short and fulfilling read of how a single mom was able to find love once she stopped being guarded.
I knew within 4 pages I was gonna love this storyline. K Nicole got me hooked on a man named Savage who understood his role as a provider not only to the woman of his choice but to his family. He realized his priorities once he laid eyes on Wes and never gave her room to ever doubt herself.
Just like any woman, Wes walks around with the trauma from her past and allows the insecurities to put her self-confidence down. BUT when she meets Savage he surely shows her and her son West what love looks like and feels like *wink wink*
Mama was a good read. I loved how the story was written. I actually wished it was a bit longer cause I enjoyed reading it that much.
This story was amazing and so heartwarming. I liked how we got to see the journey of a single mother and how she works hard to provide for her and her son. Along the way she makes a best friend and slowly falls in love with her brother. She tried to push him away, but he was not having it. One look at her and he was sprung. The things that he did for her and her son were absolutely the sweetest. I also loved the family relationships presented throughout the story. Savage is an amazing older brother to his sister and his niece. The bond they have is absolutely beautiful. I also enjoyed Weslynn and Day’s relationship. I loved the fact that he had her back. This was a beautiful read and I can’t wait to read more from her. Highly recommend.
Author K Nicole tells you in the introduction this is a standalone and it’s a slow burn. Let me start by saying it’s definitely that, but the build leaves you wanting more. However, you get everything you need from Wes, West, and Savage or some would say Derez (IYKYK). The characters development had feeling like this was your crew and/or your family. Learning how to love again, trust, and simply leaving you again can be hard. Especially while raising a son, Wes had it tough but was determined to do it. Read this great work of art by K Nicole to see how it turns out. Phenomenal read!
I found a new book husband 😍 ☺️ Savage ass and his BDE had me hooked from the first encounter he had with Weslynn. She played hard to get, which made it a slow burn. I saw where she was coming from being that her baby's daddy was a fuck boy🙄 so she wasn't feeling men at the moment but baabyyy my ass wouldn't have lasted as long as she did. Savage aka Derez was everything and i enjoyed this book alot. His only flaw was that he was in the streets but he got rid of that flaw towards the end of the book. This book had the right amount of drama with the stupid ass baby daddy popping up here and there along with the tattoo chick. So I think it's a good read. I recommend this book.

This was a quick read that shows how sometimes you put your trust in a scrub time and time again to be let down but once you have an offspring, you boss up and do what is best for them. Weslynn, a single mom is simply trying to hold it together. She meets Derez through her cousin and despite trying to resist him & him thinking it’s just gonna be a hit it & quit it…they get more than they bargained for & become inseparable. Derez steps up not just for her but also her son, no questions asked. He handles them with care & genuine love… supplying ALL their needs! Derez was A MAN! Weslynn’s rainbow came & it was truly heartwarming!
I love seeing a man who knows how to love a woman properly and understands that the streets don’t always have to be the endgame. Weslynn was everything—a strong Black single mother holding it down and still finding space for softness and love. Her dynamic with her mom was one of my favorite parts. It felt real—not too perfect, not too strained. Just relatable, layered, and honest.
The story had a nice slow burn that gave the romance room to build. And that found family? Hilarious. They brought so much personality and heart to the story. I genuinely wish the book was longer because I didn’t want to leave this world just yet.
This is a slow burn but once that fire is lit you won’t be able to put the book down.
This is a story about a women who got pregnant my a man who didn’t want the baby he only wanted her. When she decided to keep the baby their relationship ended. For 3 years she struggled to provide for her child by herself with little help. One day she was running late to pick her son up from day care and she had to ask her cousin for help because the daycare was going to charge her more money for being late. Instead of her cousin going to get her son he sent one of his home boys to go get him and welp it was up from there. Go read it.
I loved every second of this book. It is a slow burn, and that’s what made me love it even more. The relationship between Weslynn and Savage felt so genuine because nothing was rushed. I was able to see their relationship grow naturally. Savage was a REAL man. He came into Weslynn and West’s lives and handled business the way a man should. He was protective and consistent which is what they needed. This was my first read from K. Nicole, and I’m officially hooked. This story was full of love and I already can’t wait to dive into more of K. Nicole’s work. If you love a slow burn romance and want to read about a single mom that finds love again don’t add it to your TBR, read it asap. 💛📖
Girlllll, lol, you did not have to have me crying like that. Whew! Perfect ending. Let’s get into it though. Yeezy just…..smh Ninjas are wild out here is all ima say. Westlynn and Derez though *immediate swoons*. They were just everything. My G applied pressure out the gate, and I was here for it all. He sholl said all he needed was one date lol. I just knew that’s how things would go for Sionna and Dayvon 🥰. I lovvveee me a HEA!! This was such a great read. You did your big one, for sure 🤞🏽
Every men we meet aren’t the same, some are selfish, some care givers we as women have to keep an open heart and mind to differentiate between the two. Jealousy is the root of evil doers that can motivate a point of no return leading to harm or death.
K. Nicole pen complemented a story of unconditional love of a woman who had trust issues who was let down by a man who wasn’t worthy of receiving her or the child they created together love.
Derez was a man of integrity standing on his word throughout every block Weslynn tried to throw to prevent access to her heart.
It was good and once the ball started to roll between them it was better but I feel like I still didn’t get enough details. It went from a slow pace story like the author said to alright nie let’s wrap this up. Had some editing issues. So I understood Wes apprehension when it came to being hurt and scared to try again but babyyyy 🙄. It was like she had to see her baby daddy being who he showed her he was for years in order for Savage to get a fair chance. Overall good story just wish it was more details
Good book! He was Savage in them streets but Derez to Weslynn and West showing them exactly what a real man is capable of. Derez knew he wanted Wes and West from day one knowing that mama and son were a package deal. He wore Wes down until she relented giving him a chance to show her different from Yezzy. Day was a good cousin to Wes and he inadvertently upgraded Wes and West lives by asking Savage to do him a solid by picking West up from daycare. Yeezy deserved what happened to him because he was just trifling.

What an excellent story! Weslynn sacrificed everything to become West's mother. Abandoned by his father, she did what she had to do to support her son and slowly finish college. Meeting Savage was a fluke. Scrambling to get West from daycare because she'd overslept, she was forced to call her cousin Dayvon to get him because wouldn't you know, there was a car accident that totally stopped traffic. Dayvon sent his friend Savage, who was closer. And although they got off on a rocky start, love soon followed.
This was so dang cute! Im so glad Wes gave my bro a chance. I loved Savage that's definitely bro, he was a grown man honey. Wes was making me upset for a lil min. Lol but she got it together and I definitely loved her too. Them together was magic and add in my lil baby West and you got one big happy family. ❣️ I really enjoyed this story. 5 stars ofcourse. (Fun fact! My cousins Name is Weslynn 😆 ofcourse I tagged her and told her to check it out *wink* 💞)
