I was slightly disappointed that this book did not provide a step-by-step guide to meditation; although it redeemed itself at the end by giving concrete examples of how to reset. It was short and sweet, having read it in under a day, but quite wishy-washy until the section that looks a little closer at the science behind meditation. But, this is to be expected. I have never been capable of transcending thought, however I do not doubt that it is possible after having read this book and explored the topic a little more deeply. The best part of this book is it’s call to action that is found tucked away at the very end that motivates the reader to take the steps necessary to calm the mind, being described in concrete, actionable processes. Ultimately, the experience was enjoyable, and in no way do I want to deter readers from picking this one up simply because my expectations did not reflect the actual written material. I think this is a good place to start a meditative practice, but there is much more to explore, and in fact, the book says as much as it encourages the reader to find a teacher who will guide them. Great read; but not what I had hoped for.
