It has been said perception is reality, and yet, what if the reality in question was twisted and corrupted to a disheartening degree of depravity? Would the corruption have the power to shift the human consciousness and control the very nature of what is and is not?
In Elicia Clegg's newest novel five teenagers: Michael, Suzy, Christopher, Beth, and Leigh will have to answer that very question. Their souls will be thrown into a pit of malevolent despair where they will come face to face with their archetypal selves. their characters will be tested, they will be deceived, given half-truths, and face punishment for crimes they did not commit. Will any surrender to the ever growing lies, or will they escape the void of light and breathe life once again?
This book gets the “I tried hard” award from me. Klegg seems to have a plot in mind but the clumsy phrasing, dearth of proper grammar and utter lack of editing made it impossible to slog all the way through. I’m thrilled for anyone who puts pen to paper and gets their work out to the public but please take that extra step and have a proofreader go though your book. Also, you don’t need to use a thesaurus to impress people, just write what you know.
I am amazed how Clegg can get inside the mind of a teenager and make me believe she is one, though she isn't.
These 5 teenagers cling to each other in a way only true friends can. They would die for each other. In a way I was jealous of their friendship.
As others have written before me, it is hard to write a review without giving anything away, and it would just ruin the experience, and that what it is, an experience one must have.
This book blew my mind. It made me question what is right and what is wrong. Read the back, read the first page, and you will be hooked. I will forever be a fan of Elicia Clegg
I have never read a book that twisted by mind so much. How do I put this into words without spoiling the book. I love Michael. He is the character that makes reading worth while.
This book took me on a up & down roller coaster, but in an amazing way! This book kept me captivated which is extremely hard to do with ADHD! Awesome book!! Very captivating!
This novel will take the reader into the ups and downs of five teenagers...very extreme ups and downs. The author describes the scenes with intricate detail, she holds nothing back. The reader will find that the book's scenes are easy to picture, sometimes in gruesome detail. Much of the book depends on the readers' perception of right and wrong, truths and lies, etc... The reader will feel as if he/she really knows these characters by the time he/she puts this book down. It is hard not to root for the characters while wanting to shake them when they are doing something obviously (perhaps to the reader) wrong.
The ending is a tad surprising...this book is not an obvious read-there are numerous questions to be answered, especially moral ones. The author writes in a very "dark" manner, but that type of writing style fits the novel perfectly. This book is recommended to adult readers.
When you are young ever little decision becomes a life or death thing, and in this case, one small decision causes the lives of five teenagers to be thrown down a deep shaft of darkness and corruption. I really feel like I know these characters, and that somehow I have met each one. This always sets the ground for a goodread.
The characters are well written, the plot great and believable, but mostly, the end remains elusive.
I really liked this book. It was surprising all the way through. I can't really say much without giving it away but I can say it was dark, twisted and disturbing and the ending was unexpected.
A book like this is always so hard to review cause it has so much going on in it but to go on and on about it here really would ruin it for any potential readers! All I can say is, if you like the dark side of humanity pick it up and give it a read! It was worth the time for me!
Warning, Suzy, Leigh, Christopher, Beth, and Michael are so well developed you will find yourself as at least one of the characters. I couldn't help but feel like they were real, which made the journey exciting. It is hard to describe this book without giving things away, but know this; Elicia Clegg has captured a true sense of what is right and wrong by twisting reality. It reminded me of The Twilight Zone.
