You are exactly where you're supposed to be at this very moment. Each and every emotion you feel is valid. If nobody else tells you, I'm here to say I love you and I care about you. You deserve the world and more. Take care and be kind to yourself. Everything will be ok . . . I promise.
Tamia Williams' Loving You Through the Pain is a steamy, emotional ride through the metrical vehicle of poetry. Williams unleashes the flood gates, sometimes literally, between the words and pages that spread across this interior. It is sensual. It is sad. It is a universal and humanistic experience.
Williams seemingly pulls back the layers and bears all in this reflection and retrospection towards healing. There is death and grief, heart ache and heart break, and all of the things that bind those human experiences together. There is lust and boy is there something deeply sexual that is awakened here. Williams delicately opens the bud of the rose and brings it to blossom, with a number of climaxes stretched across this collection.
Largely written in relatable language, this is one of those books that you can recommend to people who don't like poetry because "it's too complicated or doesn't have a story". Williams' narrative of relationship shines here as does her sensuality that she's sprinkled across the pages. Who says that poetry can't have a little spice and bite to it? All in all, I think this a collection worth picking up for fans of poetry at all levels, and even for those wanting to dive into the genre but are unsure of where to start.
Prominent poems in the title: About You The Last Time Dancing with the Devil 3-Way
*I recieved LYTTP from the author for a honest review.*
I enjoyed this poetry book that read often like songs or spoken word. The poetry was very feeling fueled sharing transparently her life and love experiences. The most moving poem was The Last Time... wow. The ultimate themes were how love can hurt... loss of love and loss of loved ones. The poems are full of feelings, passion and spice in some. AND THE SPICE IS SPICY! And I love the hope that through the pain she still believes and strives for love.
A book of pure raw emotions ranging from love, to lust, to loss, to depression, to happiness to everything in between. I’ve always been a fan of poetry and especially the kind that gets me in my feelings, the kind that’s beyond relatable. I opened this book with the intent of only reading a few poems now, but I couldn’t put it down. It was beautiful. A few also made me tear up but I am an emotional girly lol
I felt every emotion this author went through page by page. This very much read like spoken word and her adventures through love and loss. Some were so powerful and straight to the point and I loved that. She left it all on the page and can’t wait to see what the future holds with her writing!! Short poetry read.
