Webster’s Defines Force Majeure Noun 1: superior or irresistible force 2: an event or effect that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled -compare to ACT OF GOD
When Peyton Baker makes the sudden decision to transfer out of LSU for an unknown law school in northern Florida, she tells no one until it’s done.
She surprises her best friend Micah Castleman and springs it on him that she’s now his neighbor. Micah’s been carrying a torch for Peyton for four years. He can’t figure out how he'll keep from kissing her if he’s going to see her every day.
Unfortunately, Peyton brought trouble along with her from Baton Rouge. When her stalker makes their presence known, Peyton and Micah end up fighting an unseen threat around every corner. How does the stalker terrorize her so easily?
Peyton struggles to find safety and worries she’s going to end up flunking out of school, or dead. Even her new friends get wrapped up in the turmoil, it seems there’s no escaping the forces beyond their control.
I love the friends to lovers trope. Micah and Peyton are so cute. This power couple should be on the way to sunny beaches and happy days, but no!!! Rhett and Peyton have a past that is bleeding into both of their present lives. Can Rhett and Micah protect Peyton or will the bad guys win? Or will miss Nova save the day again? Loved book 2 I look forward to book 3 and learning more about Ax and Orlando.
I started this book early August but due to me being all over the place wasn't able to get past page 1 until like the 22nd. Once I actually started getting into it I got busy. Well it took me a whole of 8 hours to actually finish the book. Along the way I did see minor grammatical errors but nothing major. Opposed to Force of Corruption (book 1) I did feel like this one had way too many time jumps, not sure how I felt about them. Overall, I did enjoy it and found it to be a good book. Now If you want to read my rambles on the actual story, keep reading, if not stop here.
The first book was good but I believe this one is even better. Force Majeure has everything from elements of spice to mystery and is unbelievably hard to figure out. The main characters are great and I love watching their relationship unfold. The plot had me so invested it was hard to put the book down. When you thought the story had came to its conclusion and you finally knew what was going on, surprises just kept coming and things kept building. It’s so hard to say how great this book is without spoiling it by giving too much information so just go read it.
*Chosen to be an Arc reader* book 2 in series but great as a standalone. I can’t wait to read the others. This was a great, easy to read, speedy, twisty, mysterious, stalking Read! I couldn’t put it down. Something occurred at every turn and just when I thought I knew, BAM! I was wrong. ❤️Micah and Peyton’s characters evolved wonderfully for me. Thanks to the author E.N.Chanting for the chance to read this one! Run out and grab this one!
So, no spoilers! But this is a great read! Something is always happening, the characters are too cute, the twist and turns are there. I loved it! The story follows Micah and Peyton as they navigate their crazy life during some very stressful times! Both are super sweet. I love Micah, he deserves the world and we all need to find ourselves one of these. I like Peyton, but sometimes she is a little whiny. All of the side characters are also super lovable. But who’s the stalker?? The story is captivating though! A few places are a tad (and I mean just tiny ant sized bit) slow, but I never wanted to put the book down and read it super fast because I needed to know what was going to happen next. I loved that the characters were always talking, or doing something. While there was plenty of world building and I could easily visualize every aspect, there was more communication between characters and background information that I feel other books skip (this was my favorite part). I would recommend this to others who like romance with a little thrill. I’m hooked and hope the next book in the series has a bit of these characters because I can’t get enough!!
This was such a fun read. I definitely had a feeling of who was the stalker (I was right) but I still loved not knowing if that was true or not. There were a lot of plot twists so I started to question my theories. It kept me on my toes. Peyton is a great FMC. She’s weird but also endearing. I love how she’s so smart in school but not as street smart. I feel like there aren’t as many FMCs like that. I love her relationship with her chosen family. Rhett and Paige, Peyton’s brother and his wife, were such an important part of this book because of how much Peyton cared for them and their children. She also had so many meaningful connections in this book. I really loved getting to see Peyton navigate a world she hadn’t lived in before. Micah is an amazing love interest and person. He grew up in such a terrible environment but came out on top. He is not only tech savvy but also knows what Peyton needs without her asking. I loved to get to know him better through his POV. Peyton and Micah as a couple are amazing. I loved how they were friends first but we still got to see their love bloom. I really couldn’t ask for a better love story in this book. The plot had me hooked. I needed to know who Peyton’s stalker was but then I needed to know why they were doing this. The answers to those questions are actually wild and don’t just simply end the book. There was always more. I think this book had a perfect mix of romance and plot. It started off seeming more romance than plot but once Micah and Peyton were more established, it allowed the plot to fully develop. I truly loved this book. I definitely don’t think you NEED to read the first book to enjoy this one. It gave you enough of a background that you could understand how relationships worked without being confused. I read this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
Reviewed by Dee on behalf of the Plot Thickens Book Club. Title: Force of Majeure Author: E.N.Chanting Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow this was an amazing way to continue this series. Book 1 was chefs kiss and this one was to. I was kind of hoping it would be about Paige and Rhett but it's actually about Peyton and Micah who are equally just as an amazing couple they are absolutely just the sweetest. Peyton is Rhett's baby sister so the family saga does continue. Peyton makes the move to Florida where she kind of reconnects with Micah. They are the best of friends and Micah has had a thing for Peyton for almost 4 years. This is a quick paced book with stalkers, mystery and romance. I got now there was a lot of cute things that happened in the book I do love their little pet names for each other eagle and Radiohead at first I was a little confused but once I started reading more I kind of figured it out and the sweetest. This book does have a lot of ups and downs and curve balls and like I said with the first one as soon as you think you got it figured out you might as well throw it out the door cuz it's going to be completely different than what you think. I love how everything is balanced out in the book there's not more of one thing than there is another. This book also draws you in and hold you there through the whole thing and you can't put it down to your absolutely done. This may not make sense until you read it but anessa why in the world did she not get blown up I would consider that poetic justice but it's neither here nor there. Also our girl Nova makes it come back like it's absolutely amazing. The author when she wrote this book you could tell she really put a lot of thought and Care into it because it was absolutely amazing. Now I'm sitting over here like a kid at Christmas waiting for book 3 to see how all this continues and where we're going now.
A read jam packed with all the beauty of friends to lovers and all the tension of a great suspense novel! You get a stalker, a motorcycle club, a mover who is anything but a good guy, friends and neighbors who aren’t what they seem, and a sweet as sunshine law student at the center of it all who wins the jackpot in boyfriends, because Micah is everything and sexy to boot. Sweeps you away and keeps you on the edge from start to finish in all the best ways. Micah, Micah, Micah, just for him alone this book is totally worth the read. He’s that thoughtful, loving, big hearted, smart, crazy attentive, and just dirty enough in the bedroom, FBI agent you’ve always wanted to have at your beck and call. And he definitely stays busy in this read investigating what seems to be unconnected incidents that are far more evil, plotted and planned, and vengeful than anyone sees coming as the plot throws out a few surprises, keeps you guessing, and beautifully mixes sweet romance and all the darker parts of revenge and murder, just an all around great read.
🚫NO SPOILERS🚫 I loved everything about this book. 🤗 First, I am a sucker for romance & psychological thriller books and this book is both. The plot of this book kept me wanting more… not only was this book fast pasted but the way the author writes made me feel so invested. I absolutely fell in love with the characters, the friendships, the family, the romance and overall the whole story. The ending was not what I was expecting! If you love a cute romance book with some crazy twist then this book is definitely for you! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Thank you @e.n.chanting_author for sending me your book and giving me the opportunity to read and review it! I can’t wait to read more of your books! ✨
This book was actually pretty good. There is nothing more than I love a good mystery suspense romance!!! I loved Micah & Peyton’s relationship. The whole friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this book has it. This book also has some funny moments, which I loved. Nova (the first) was one of my favorite characters because she was full of personality.
Another thing is that there is a stalker on the loose. This is what obviously had me invested and having to become Spencer Reid!!! Not only that, but there were a lot of times where you'd think you’d know what’s going on, but BAM, 💥a new surprise comes up.
You should definitely give E.N. Chanting a chance!!!
Force Majeure is book #2 in the series. Overall I found this book to be a little to risqué for my reading likes. I know is only my opinion but I enjoyed the first book a lot more. I did enjoy some of that Nova was brought into the story line to give Peyton the strength to fight for her life. Even though this was not a favorite of mine I would still recommend to others because I realize not everyone enjoys the same books.

I loved the first book but I'm obsessed with this book! The dual POV storytelling allows for a deeper understanding of Peyton and Micah's perspectives, making their romance even more believable and captivating. With its blend of crime, suspense, and heartfelt moments, this book has something for everyone. E.N's writing style is engaging, making it impossible to put the book down!
I hate writing bad reviews but this one could not be helped. I couldn’t get past the first couple pages because the writing was so stilted and juvenile. I flipped through the book thinking it’s probably just the beginning…maybe it has a slow beginning…nope. The writing still sucked. I’m really confused why this book got 5*.
I loved the first book but this one was just as good if not better it had lots of plot twists and love between the two main characters. Was definitely a good read for me
One of the best books I have read in a long time. Great storyline, strong characters and the suspense just kept coming. Looking forward to reading more of E.N. Chanting.
This book definitely had potential. The storyline was very criminal minds inspired. But it just wasn't for me..
I found it was very descriptive in spots it didn't need to be (like I don't really need to know everytime the character has a bathroom break) and other places where the detail was really missing and I was left confused.
I did love that it was Dual POV, the FMC were strong individuals and were quite badass when it came down to it. The MMC were likeable and the side-characters were Interesting enough
This was an amazing story. It was the perfect blend of action, thrill, romance, and intrigue. I definitely suspected the twist but up until it was confirmed I was questioning it. This is a well written story and one I could see myself reading multiple times.
