“I am insane. If I lose you, I’ma become diabolically mentally ill. Like, cartoonishly unhinged.” *adds cartoonishly unhinged to the book bae requirement list ✍🏽 *

A House?!?! Ma’am you never cease to amaze me!! Why did you dip your whole pinky toe in this book like this?!? When I say I want an unhinged 🥷, THIS is what I’m referring to!! THIS!!!! ❤️❤️ I absolutely LOVED this book!! LOVED!!! A House does 👏🏽 not 👏🏽 miss 👏🏽! EVER!! Argue with ya mammy!

After a 12 year relationship on the fast track to nowhere, Lilith finally decides that time with Marlon has run its course. She has given this man her BEST years and now at the age of 42 fears that her chances of becoming a wife and mother have passed her by. What she won’t let pass however, is another day with Marlon and his empty promises and puppet strings. So she packs her bags and high tails it out of the place that she once called home.

As she settles into her new life and making a not so new space her own, she crosses paths with Horacio “Ray” Nation and the man is not one to be played with!! Listen y’all, Ray was a MAN’S MAN!! He was everything you could imagine and a sprinkle of things that you couldn’t begin to imagine. He was a protector, a provider, a lover, a fighter, puts it DOWN in the bedroom and anywhere else if you let him. He will unalive you without blinking but just know it’s ALWAYS justified! It only took him one glance to know that Lil was different and to claim her as his own. Sis really didn’t have a choice! Like zero! Ray upgraded her liiifeeeeee from “sandpaper to silk” in the words of Justice!

🩸It was the daily food drop offs for me because yassss bae feed me!
♦️It was him falling asleep with his fingers in her for me! 💦🖖🏽*once again ✍🏽*
🩸It was the dominance for me! Yasss bae tell me what tuh doooooooo!
♦️It was the Boutique upgrade for me! Elevate me bae!!
🩸It was the gun range for me because a head shot is the only shot 🤭
♦️It was Ray and his “eye sweating” 🥹❤️🥹
🩸It was the healthy and not so healthy stalking for me because that man wanted to live in her skin!!

The plot twists were so unexpected because just when I thought I had things figured out A Hiuse said aht aht try again! It was pretty much down to the last page before all was revealed and even then I was like record scratch 😳🤯.

I cannot wait for the rest of this series to unfold! I am locked in and let the record show that we will not accept any narrator that is not Wesleigh for Lilith when this audiobook is being recorded!

DNF at 52%

I'm a firm believer that, if you get 40% or more into a book, you should just finish it. But, I’m breaking my own rule. I’m not gon’ be able to do it. I love A. House down but, IMO, this book was not her best work and she’ll be gettin' a bill for my time.

Updated Review 08/26/25

Welp! That didn’t age well. 🫣🫣🫣🫣 Okay, hear me out. I know I hit Lilith with a disrespectful DNF but, when the audiobook dropped, I figured if anyone could change my mind about this book, it would be Wesleigh and Winston and they understood the assignment. The audiobook hit different because, I absolutely fell in love with this book. Ray was the best kind of unhinged and he did not play about his Lilith. When he loves, he loves hard and Lilith found out the hard way once Ray has his sights and his heart set on someone, he’s not takin’ his eye or his foot off her neck. Lilith, girl, you in danger. 😏😏😏😏 I’m not goin’ to give a detailed review because, ATP, I don’t really think I need to. I can admit when I’m wrong and I was 1000% wrong about Horacio and Lilith and I extend my deepest and sincerest apologies.

So far I haven’t read a book where Ms. House didn’t deliver and Lilith was no different. I was engaged from beginning to end and it was hard to put down. Lilith was at home minding her own business and still ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Now here comes Ray, we don’t know if we should be scared or smitten. Yes, we because Lilith and I were “shook” together. It didn’t take long to figure out how Ray was coming behind Lilith. If you ain’t feeding, protecting and knocking the Mario coins outta my 🐱 like Ray Nation, then I don’t want you, and that’s on paid bills!

Loved the chemistry and banter between the two and Ray kept me laughing with his whit and humor. Ray could have me on house arrest any day. The bathroom fetish was a bit much though.

I really enjoyed this one!

Guys!!! This was my first ever audiobook that I have ever listened to!!! Thank you so much to the author and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity!! Shoutout to my bookish friend Nirvana for the recommendation to get this ALC as well!!

Chile lets get into this book because this was a ride omg??? Initially i wont lie i was struggling a bit to get into this, mostly because i have never had to listen to audio with no visual when it came to a book before, so i legit was sitting and had to go back a few times. However once the book started picking up an i was fully immersed????? OMGGGGGGGG. I actually really liked thisssss!! The suspense, the whodunit of it allll! ughhhhh it got me hooked so fast and I didnt even see it coming!! this was a super quick audiobook as well, because it was only 5 hours and I was able to get through it just while sitting at work which was super nice.

Ray actually was a hilarious MMC and Lilith was great as well which made this really enjoyable. Both narrators were really smooth too, which i really enjoyed. Won't lie- this is just because it was my first audiobook, but I was not prepared for the moaning in the audio- that had me WEAKKKKK. I'm new to audiobooks yall, not too much on me. That was actually not why I took .5 off either, yet this was still a super good first audio for me! I highly recommend.

Stranger Danger?

This is hard for me to write because I really mess with A. House but this book was mid. I am a big fan of a hostage forced proximity situation, but this one fell flat for me. Initially I liked bossy rude azz Ray, but his evolution was odd. I didn't feel a real connection between him and Lilith. It was like he woke up and was like this is my girl 🥴 and I didn't understand why. Lilith had finally found the strength to leave an uncomfortable relationship when an unexpected situation causes her and Ray to cross paths. After a short time they have a weird attraction. Despite not fully feeling the vibes I was locked in, but the ending dragged on. There were some twists and turns but overall anticlimactic to me 🤷🏾‍♀️

4.5 ⭐️ 29 year old Heracio “Ray,” sets his eyes on 42 year old Lilith King after handling some business in an alley behind her house.! Imagine your surprise when this man, who had you hiding in your house for 2 weeks tells you that you belong to him before you even find out his name 🤭.! Things take a turn for the worse before things get better, or do they 🤔!?

The twists and turns in this book, as well as some of the suspense kept me on edge a little bit! Although a bit predictable, the story was unique!

I am very interested & very much anticipating seeing what happens with Lilith’s sisters, Memphis & Umber!

Lilith is not like anything you’ve ever read by Alexandria House! But it gives everything an A. House book gives. It’s funny & sexy with an MMC that will protect you and put you through a mattress. Plus we get a HEA.

This book is Dark Romance Lite. Our MMC is morally grey but we love us some Ray! 🫠 and he loves him some Lilith! The book reads like a sexy, suspense tale that will have you cracking up. As a thriller girlie I figured out the twist before the big reveal but most people won’t.

The narration for this audiobook is chef’s kiss! Wesleigh & Rashad Siobhan hit this out of the park and Winston James can talk you through anything! Rashad’s version of Ray was assertive & sensual and Winston gave sexy & unhinged. Outstanding! This was such a fun read!

Lilith was different

The story was different, the feeling was very different, along with the intense storyline. Lilith was innocent to all the BS going on around here. Her father with three common-law wives was crazy. And the hired assasin falls for his prey. Wow!

Wow. So no one was mentally stable in this story, huh?

Listened to the audiobook. Winston James' chapters weren't long enough for my liking, but Wesleigh Siobahn never disappoints!! I wish it had been dual narration as I've come to expect in books written in the past few years, but Wesleigh is always good at changing voices for genders. Additionally, I enjoyed the humor in this book.

Lilith is stupid as hell for being turned on by her captor and not even making attempts to escape or get help, especially since she thinks he's going to kill her. ALSO, she was 42. Her frontal lobe is fully developed, so she should've made much better decisions. Her captor, 29. It would've made more sense to me if the ages had been reversed, so her stupidity could be justified.

Ray is morally gray, which helps the readers justify his aggression and decisions so he can become a likable character. I didn't like him at first, so that's what happened to me. Until I discovered that, I thought Lilith was the stupidest captive ever. Just because he's attractive...you gonna be complicit with him in your own house? I wanted to smack sense into her character. Lilith was messed up as everyone else in this story. Killing people should not turn you on.

I was able to demystify the suspense of whodunnit early, but it was still good to find out I was right. It was a really stupid motive though. I blame the father.

Somehow a HEA. 🤷🏾‍♀️

This book was everything I didn’t know I needed! A little different from the others that I’ve read by Alexandria House and I loved every minute. I went into this one blind (considering Alexandria is an auto read author for me) and this book literally had me swooning! The writing style per usual was engaging & addictive. As a thriller lover, I loved the intensity that this one brought, yet it still delivered the romance that we’re use to seeing in her books.

The narration was top tier, as I expected nothing less from Winston James & Wesleigh Siobhan. They are 2 of my favorite narrators and delivered all the spice, personality & razzle dazzle needed to bring life to these characters!

Overall, I simply loved it, would absolutely recommend it & anxious to dive in to Memphis, Book 2! Thank you Tantor Audio and NetGalley for a listening copy!

dnf at 35 percent.

to clarify, i wasn't able to connect with this at all. i definitely don't think it's one of miss alexandria house's best works. the characters felt 2 dimensional & after the 2nd misplaced cultural reference, it was time for me to throw in the towel.

Girl wth?!? Alex House knows how to have you on your toes with a twist and turn! I had no clue what to expect with this dark romance but I am here for it. Lilith is leaving a 12-year relationship with her then-boyfriend Marlon because the relationship became stagnant and wasn't going anywhere and when you find out why it is a doozy! How Lilith meets our hero Ray is a wrong place and time situation. He was in the act of a just murder and once he made eye contact with her he couldn't let her go. Honestly, I was so confused by that but that's where the twists and turns start. The journey to discovering what is happening while Lilith and Ray are falling in love is wild. I haven't even mentioned the crazy family dynamic with her dad’s situations, her two sisters Umber and Memphis, and her mother. All very critical to the story but again I'm not saying anything to spoil the plot! Things I can say that don't spoil anything: I loved Lilith's shop and employees, especially Justice, Ray put it down on Lilith every chance he got, and House gave us enough information on both sisters that I know those books are going to be just as amazing! House does it again with another great read and I’m happy she's into the dark romance for this series!

Check the content warning because there is a discussion of assault, killings, mental illness, and violence.

Where do I began. Okay my rating is based off me not liking the story in itself, not so much as the authors writing. I have read other books by House and enjoyed it. This is some toxic BS that I could not root for. The control, verbal disrespect the threats and she falls for him and continually does what he says and at the end this is supposed to be some happy ending black love story(authors words not mine)…….pass.
I could almost understand the threats when based off thinking he is a killer and him not wanting her to go to the police, but once they are in a relationship, it continues. This is a forty two year old woman, smh.

3.5 ⭐️ (not enough to round up, unfortunately)

Lilith is a dark erotic romance with a gripping start: Lilith witnesses Ray in the middle of a deadly situation, assumes she’s next, and instead finds herself wrapped up in a romance as obsessive as it is protective. It’s fast-paced, full of chemistry, and very entertaining—if you loved Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley but want something shorter and less angsty, this definitely has similar vibes.

What worked best for me was the premise and the energy between Lilith and Ray. Alexandria House is so good at creating immediate intensity, and that’s here in spades. But because the story moves so quickly, I found myself wishing for just a little more room for the relationship to unfold more slowly—more moments where the danger and the romance could build together before shifting into full-blown obsession.

Ray as a character is larger-than-life, which is fun, but every so often it tipped into a bit over-the-top territory and even felt slightly fetishy in places. It didn’t ruin the story—far from it—but it did pull some attention away from the darker, protective edge the premise set up so well. Instead of coming across as an unhinged, morally gray antihero, Ray at times felt almost like a caricature of one.

Because the plot takes a back seat to the relationship, the spotlight stays on Ray, which amplifies this effect.

What truly elevated the experience for me was the audiobook narration. Wesleigh Siobhan and Winston James were phenomenal and added so much intensity and atmosphere that the story hit harder in audio than I think it would have on the page.

Overall, Lilith is a quick, spicy, and entertaining read. It didn’t land at five stars for me, but for readers who love obsessive romance heroes with heat and intensity—minus the heavy angst—this is a great pick.

*Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC. My thoughts and rating are completely my own and remain 100% unaffected.

Thank you to NetGalley, Tantor Audio and Alexandria House for the ARC. The story of Lilith and Ray is what I would consider a "Grey Romance". Not completely dark but with morally grey characters, unhinged behaviour and comedic relief. The author does a great job giving her characters lovable personalities even if their actions may be questionable. I had the pleasure of reading the E-Book when it released last year and I was already familiar with the story. However, listening to it as an audiobook takes the reading experience to another level! Winston James did a phenomenal job as Ray. He captured the essence of Ray; a man who doesn't play about those he loves and cares for and would go to no length to protect them. Wesleigh Siobhan always gives an amazing performance and she did not disappoint as Lilith. The overall story was awesome as always Ms. Alexandria House never disappoints. I would definitely recommend this audiobook. Thank you to

I love me some A. House! This story is different from her other work and I enjoyed this a lot. Lilith is a woman who is leaving a fruitless long term relationship. She spent her "prime" years with a man who did not want to take the next step into marriage and becoming a family. After she leaves that relationship she begins to start over. She moves into the apartment above her boutique. One night, she is people watching through the tiny window of her apartment and witnesses a murder. She locks eyes with the murder and the story picks up from there.

Ray was HILARIOUS! If there is one thing Ms. House is going to do is give us an unserious character. Ray was completely unhinged and crazy as all hell. I was cackling at his antics and his crazy he comes by it honestly. The wedding scene though😂😂😂😂(IYKYK).Lilith was so sweet and was no match for Ray. Their love story was unconventional but it came through and hit Lilith like a freight train. She needed a man to love and protect her body and her heart and that is who she got in Ray.

There were a lot of twists and turns in this book which leads me to believe that this book may be part of a series so hopefully we'll here more from Ray and Lilith. I'm interested to hear from the sisters some more and where the stories take them.

I really had no clue what this was going to be about, but it definitely ended up being an experience haha. Lilith is 40, and getting used to living alone after wasting a decade on a man who couldn’t commit to her. She looks out her window into the alley and sees the hero do something she shouldn’t have seen, and the story takes off from there.

This book could best be described as comedic dark-ish romantic suspense. Ray, the hero, was BEYOND savage and did not care about morals or manners. He has secrets that he’ll have to reveal to Lilith, and watching her discover those secrets had me cackling because Ray truly is unapologetic. One thing I can say is that he absolutely loved him some Lilith and decided she was gone be his, despite what anyone (including Lilith) said.

I hope the sisters get books!

Ms. House please don’t ever do this again 😭 I’m such a big fan of A. House and I’ve devoured so many of her series. I’ve also read my fair share of dark romances, but this one just fell flat for me. I didn’t feel any real connection between Lilith and Ray, it just felt forced. How do you fall in love with someone after only a couple of days when you barely know anything about them? And there’s no way Lilith was really that naive when it came to her ex.

I had not read an Alexandria House book in a minute, so I was excited about this one. That synopsis pulled me in. Okay, I am now a lover of the kidnapper to lover troupe, cause Ray whew.... 🥵

Lilith was beyond sick and tired of Marlon and his empty promises, so it was time to bounce. At her big age of 42, what will she do now, and where will she live? Deciding to reside above her business is her option at the moment, while she regroups and gets adjusted to being single. One night while gazing out of her window, she witnesses something she shouldn't have, and it has her spooked. Especially when she locks eyes with the person doing said deed. When that person shows up on her doorstep with food asking to come in, she is beside herself with worry. What the hell is he doing here? Lilith for a character to be so unassuming girl, you got a lot going on in your world. 😂

Ray just pops up into Lilith's life, makes himself at home, and "tells" her she is his. Your first thought is, is the ninja crazy cause what? Yes, yes, he is, but in the best way. 🤩 I loved how Ray would never ask Lilith anything, just announce what is going to happen and move on like it is law. If I said what I said was a person, it was Ray. 😂 The way he watched over Lilith and protected her was swoon worthy, although he was a little, no, a lot over the top wit it. He drove Lilith nuts, and she hated him, told him multiple times daily that she did, until she didn't. I loved their crazy!

I thought I had it all figured out, and I did in a way, but that twist shocked the hell outta me!
I enjoyed this read from beginning to end and cannot wait to see what the rest of the series has in store for us. Great job! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

You gotta sit with it for a minute, but it's worth it.

Because you'll be lost in the sauce as to whats happening with the plot (bigger picture wise) until 60ish percent, and you're just gotta rock with that. And even then, its still kinda fuzzy. But the characters are enough the get you through it. The spice levels were great, and you know that anything Wesleigh Siobhan touches will be fire. Winston James does a great job characterizing the MMC and you really feel the fine line he is playing of being a bit of an unhinged dude and also kind into his captive.

Thank you to Tantor Media, Alexandria House and Netgalley for an early audio copy.

Everything happened so fast and the sex scenes were a skim over after the first encounter because fuck no! How you scared and can’t sleep or eat then you’re busting it open left and right and in a whole relationship with a killer you barely knew anything about? Forty two and delusional. And then they just kept fucking! Okay we get it and now we’re in love??? What is going on here.

This added in assassin shit with Ray and Memphis has me tired and now you’re pregnant? Bitch shit got real! I knew who wanted to kill her as soon as Ray said there was a hit out on her and instead of thinking on it you want to play house.

And the characters’ names in this book? Terrible. Even the baby’s name was trash. Just a huge NO for me.

The healthiest relationship between a lunatic and the captive he videotapes the urinations of that you’ve ever seen.

Vivid, unforgettable language (her pussy sounds like stirred macaroni at one point)

Hilarious dialogue

Top-tier body positivity

I recommend! Ray started out quite scary and dangerous, but he’s soon revealed as an unhinged teddy bear with the most entertaining dirty talk.

Book Review: “Lilith” by Alexandria House

“Lilith” by Alexandria House is a riveting dark romance that hooks you from the very first page. The story revolves around Lilith, who witnesses a crime that drastically alters her life. Sworn to secrecy, Lilith finds herself trapped by Ray, the enigmatic criminal who committed the act. What unfolds is a complex tale of fear, protection, and unexpected romance.

One of the standout elements of this novel is House’s masterful play with the concepts of right, wrong, and perception. As Lilith navigates her perilous situation, Ray’s initially sinister character begins to reveal layers of humanity and vulnerability, transforming him from a villain into a multifaceted protector. This nuanced characterization is a testament to House’s ability to blur the lines between good and evil, making the reader question their own moral compass.

House gives us a delightful mix of comedy, mystery, and suspense. The plot twists and turns, keeping you on the edge of your seat while also providing moments of sweetness and warmth. The romance between Lilith and Ray is both intense and tender, giving us the signature spice that we love from the author.
-wrenching and heartwarming.

Overall, “Lilith” is an incredibly engaging read that offers a perfect blend of suspense, romance, and spice. Alexandria House has crafted a story that not only entertains but also challenges the reader to see beyond black and white morality. I thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn and am eagerly looking forward to the next two books in the series. If you’re a fan of dark romance with depth, humor, and heat, “Lilith” is a must-read.

Ms. House stepped into dark romance and delivered a banger! When Lilith King decided to leave her boyfriend of 12 years because of his failure to commit to her, she didn’t know the danger that would literally be waiting on the doorstep of her apartment. Although she feared for her life when Ray Nation forced his way into it, he soon proved there was no reason for her to fear him…but most others should. As this delicious story unfolded, I was intrigued by the danger, suspense, betrayal, love, and humor it held. Especially as more and more secrets were revealed. It had everything I have come to expect from an Alexandria House book, with the added touch of darkness. Only she could have me holding my heart in suspense one minute, fanning myself from the hot love scenes the next minute, then literally laughing out loud at the one-liners her characters are known for.

I cannot wait for the next installment of the Three Kings series.

I enjoyed Lilith. This was definitely different from what I am use to from Alexandria House. She did not leave out the spice! Whew! Lol

Some stuff was a bit out there. I took it with a grain of salt, lol. Ray’s age did surprise me a young guy this deep doing what he was in to.

The twist and the reason didnt really give me the AHA moment !!! Lol

Thank you NetGalley and Alexandria House for the ALC

Say what now????

Where do I even begin with Alexandria House's "Lilith"? This book is an absolute explosion of delicious twists and turns that had my eyes wide from the very beginning! Seriously, I devoured this entire book in one single day because I just couldn't put it down. My heart was racing, and I loved every second of it.

Ray Is "good kind of crazy" even a thing? Because if it is, Ray fits perfectly! He's one of those wonderfully unhinged men that just make a story pop, and I am absolutely here for it. He brings a level of intensity and passion that's just magnetic.

And then Lilith! Watching her journey with Ray was pure gold. When you see a character get "bullied" into a relationship, and they just utterly surrender to the chaos and love every single moment of it? That's Lilith! Her journey was so compelling, and I was cheering for her every step of the way. I loved it for her, and I loved reading/listening to every bit of it!

The Audiobook Experience

Wesleigh Siobhan and Winston James brought this story to life in a way that truly amplified all those delicious twists and turns. Their performances were spot-on, making Ray's "good kind of crazy" even more intriguing and Lilith's reactions perfectly understandable. Listening to it felt like being right there with them, experiencing every single emotion. Highly recommend the audio for an even more immersive ride!
