This was a short story 11 pages on a nook. I wish it went on, but it stopped. It read more like a preview to a book.

This was a really good perception of vampires and a girl out to satisfy her curiosity.

Locum
By Laurie Bowler
11 pages: Quickie

Listening to her grandmother’s stories, a young lady decides to find out if what grandma said was real and forever changes her life!
Latina Horror has the big C and realizes that she has only a few weeks left to live. To determine if her grandmother was telling the truth, she sets out on a mission to visit a public house (bar) and find out if vampires are real. Armed with holy water and stakes, Latina spies the old place which looks to be falling down. When she enters and meets the bartender, her life is forever changed.
Everything she had learned about vampires is a lie. They are not the romantic figures of romance novels. They are in fact stinky and not that attractive. Let alone, they can’t cut their nails without them growing back immediately into little sharp points. Trick, the bartender, can smell the death on her and offers her a chance for immortality as his mate but Latina is not looking for a cure for cancer. She just wanted the truth and has now found it. But Trick won’t let her leave and her life changes forever when they drain her dry.
Locum is a short story that introduces you to a new world of vampires. They are more like the Dracula of old rather than the characters of Twilight fame. These vampires are staying in this run down bar, which smells rather than enjoying their life and get a laugh out of a human coming in to “find out” about them. Maybe they are in awe that she isn’t the missish type but Latina certainly interests Trick. But the story leaves you wanting more. After only 11 pages, you want to know what happens after Latina wakes up as a vampire and how her world has changed or better yet, maybe she will change the vampire world! After all, the dusty outdated bar isn’t a fun place to stay!
If you love a short read filled with a witty character with a smart mouth and are looking for a different world of vampires, read Locum and start an adventure with Lantina Horror.

A brilliant story. The grandma tale was well written, and Latina Horror is a brilliant character. This one will leave you in air waiting and wanting a whole lot more to continue the story.

I havent found number 2 of this series yet but I'm looking.

A short story full of intrigue and the natural curiosity one could expect from a human on the look out for vampires!! Funny in places but short and sweet. Locum 2 is already out and Ive that too so will leave a review for that one.

A full 5 stars for this one.
