In Trust We Fall

Rate this book
Trust is a complex concept.
This anthology features stories that revolve around ordinary topics like a school election or an unhappy marriage. It also contains stories with more imaginative topics like ghosts or an apocalypse. But, there one common thread among the 10 stories- every character struggles with trust issues. At times, they find it difficult to trust their own eyes, themselves, or even the world around them.
Let the stories take you on a journey to discover if trust can truly set you free.

This a was solid short story collection. Lots of different themes and genres, but all very well-written. Seb and Arresting, the more topical stories, were my least favorite; Holed Up and That’s the House my most, but there was something for everyone. Recommended!

Received this collection as part of my Your Paper Quest subscription.

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.

I love the concept of trust that is woven so well into each of these stories. As the blurb says, trust us a complex concept and the book knows that. You’ll find you’ll start reading with an idea in mind of what trust is but the stories will challenge that.

I love when stories do this.

I really also enjoy the variety here. The paranormal is a common string throughout the book but the author makes the characters and setting very much an anchor of each one, giving each story its own voice. They belong in the collection together but they also stand on their own.

I really appreciate how family is addressed in here. Different kinds and what forms and either reinforces or shatters your trust in them. In some stories, you’re pleasantly surprised. In others, you weep.

A great book at challenging your preconceived notions about having, making, losing and regaining trust and one you’ll be happy to revisit again and again.

This book contains 10 short stories.
The first one ( Scintillte) had me saying WOW. The way it was written almost made me think it could be true. The second ( The Boy in the Hall) made the hair on my arms stand up. To save space, let me say this – Absolutely the best book to have if you have a short attention span And a great book if you have a longer span. Scoring each story there at eight 5’s and two 4’s . (Really 2 or 3 stories deserve a 6).
I highly recommend this book

A collection of punchy short stories that lingers with you long after you put them down. A love story about a restaurant booth to one about children getting lost in the woods, there's range here that made me feel every emotion possible. Highly recommend, easy to pick up but hard to put down!

What a very surprising short story collection. First, the writing is fantastic. I really like the fact that there were multiple genres represented in this collection. I also liked how the author told us beforehand how she came up with each story. It’s great to feel like you are in someone’s mind!

I felt each story had a great lesson and there were a few that still stick to me to this day and I am not the biggest short story fan!
