Junior attorney Lauren Scott abandons her imminent vacation plans to catalog the sumptuous estate of the late Janet Dracon in Sausalito, CA. From the beginning, she faces hurdles; first she must contend with hostile and resentful Katherine, companion to the late Janet Dracon, next she must supervise her boss’s obnoxious nephew Randy, and finally she witnesses haunting visions captured in the depths of an ornate 18th Century mirror.

Lauren soon finds an old diary belonging to frail Patricia Dracon, Janet’s late identical twin sister. She reads that Janet discovered a love affair between Patricia and an artist Janet was sponsoring, and ended the affair. Inconsolable, Patricia’s lover was gone but she was pregnant.
After giving birth to a son, she wasted away never granting her sister the forgiveness she craved. Her grief caused Janet to become a recluse wallowing in her sorrow upon her sister’s death. A few years later, Patricia's son followed her in death.

Randy soon becomes friendly with a young household maid but later her mutilated body is found on nearby Stinson Beach; Jim Clark of the San Francisco Police finds a previous record implicating Randy.

Several times Lauren is drawn back to the Salon and the exotic mirror, each time experiencing more of its hypnotic influence. She begins to notice blurred images of the late Dracon twins whirling to an unheard ghostly music that no one else can see.
When another murder takes place Lauren and Jim try to solve the ancient Dracon mystery before Lauren becomes a victim of the cursed Dracon Manor.

I am Nickolas Drake, author of several cozy type mysteries and currently live in Scottsdale, AZ. A Technical Writer by profession I spend my free time writing fiction, gardening, cooking, and enjoying my two boys; a Black and Silver Schnauzer called Zar, and a Salt and Pepper Schnauzer called Griffy.

Formerly a California native, I grew up in Santa Barbara, CA, worked for tech giants in the San Francisco Bay Area, and lived near Napa, CA for several years.

I am currently planning several more novels to add to the collection.

And yes, those are my dogs in the picture, in case you were wondering!
