I am so in loved with this screenplay. Cosmic is Anastasia's first screenplay. I loved her writing. This is my second time reading a screenplay. First time I read was a long time ago.
I can't imagine if I were Clementine. Clementine is a character shaped by love and loss who finds herself in cycle of dreams of her past lover named Ryan. So every time she falls asleep, she will dream about Ryan.
I felt that the strength of Cosmic lies in its exploration of the psychological impact of unresolved feelings. Clementine's struggle is both empathetic and raw, capturing the essence of how past relationships can continue to haunt us long after they've ended.
The writing is atmospheric and immersive, with a lyrical quality that enhances the dreamlike quality of Clementine's experiences. Some parts just made me want to cry. I was so invested in this screenplay, I can imagine it being on the stage. I wished for more background stories of Clementine and Ryan on their relationship, how they met and why they broke up. Maybe we can get Cosmic: Episode 2?
Overall, Cosmic was kind of cozy read for me. I read this when it was raining outside.

Cosmic by Anastasia Bell is a screenplay that reads like a movie. I could totally envision scene to scene as the story progresses like a short film.
This is the first time I was sent a screenplay book to review and even before I started reading, I already lacked confidence in myself whether I would able to write a review. But honestly I had nothing to worry about because it's just like reading a book or watching a movie, just in a slightly different form.
I really enjoy the fact that I didn't know what to expect throughout reading this book. As the story progresses, there's a plot twist that caught me off guard and even one that I predicted halfway through. Yet it still made for a memorable read.
The only thing I felt this book lacking was how short it was. There were a few aspects that were left unexplained and it would be so much better if the author could prolong it even more.
All in all, I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend you to pick it up.

As this is my first time reading a screenplay, I must acknowledge my lack of experience in providing an expert critique. Therefore, this review will reflect my initial impressions and thoughts as a novice screenplay reader.
Reading a screenplay demands significant imagination and concentration. Each word meticulously describes the scene, requiring the reader to creatively visualise the setting and actions accurately. This screenplay's attention to detail is paramount, with elements such as the time of day crucial to the nuance of mystery.
Honestly, it took a lot of mental energy on my part to focus in the beginning but once the engine of my brain warmed up, she was fired to go! This screenplay an excellent choice for book club discussions as the process of interpreting clues would make for an intellectually stimulating discussion. It invites diverse interpretations, promising insightful and enriching conversations. I look forward to rereading the screenplay to uncover additional layers and nuances.
The dialogue in the screenplay is particularly noteworthy. It reflects the author's personal interests, including references to Star Wars, Tolkien, and even Elvish. This interweaving of personal elements creates a sense of intimacy as if the author is trying to break the fourth wall and introduce bits of herself to her readers. A very bitter-sweet story that had me tearing up at the end. It’s about a young woman’s journey to let go of her past relationship and move on with her life. Since this is a screenplay format, there is no inner monologue for reader to get to know deeper about the characters. But I was impress with the author’s ability to be able to touch the reader’s heart with her chatty and fun dialogues.
The book starts with Clementine who keeps dreaming of Ryan every time she falls asleep at night. She and Ryan broke up and haven’t contacted each other for 3 years. Ethan, her current boyfriend was so understanding and did not stop her when she thought of meeting Ryan to help her overcome her nightmare.
I could feel her struggle to forget Ryan but couldn't get past through it. This book teaches us that we can move on through many hardships.
Romantic at heart? This is a book for you!

✫ I had a conversation with one of my bookish friends about this concept of "unreliable narration" and how she loves it.
I never knew there's a term for it but I too have always enjoyed the journey of reading a book with a narration that can't be trusted. Often found in thriller or crime novels.
For me, this type of narration is quite hard to write.
✫ But Anastasia embodied it with Cosmic. What more that this book is only 100 pages thin!
✫ Cosmic is a brilliant modern screenplay writing that is not only trippy but also unputdownable. You will be caught in a series of theories & questions begging to be answered until the end.
✫ However, I find this book too short. I wish there were more backstories of the relationships so that I felt more attached and the ending would have impacted me bigger & better.

What an emotional journey :') The young author weaves words together so beautifully through her compelling story telling, breathing life into each character and picturesque scenes.

I love how this book describes the atmosphere and vibes—it makes me feel like I’m the main character. I can feel their happiness, their sadness, and sometimes I even find myself imitating their behavior, haha.

It felt like being in a dream, a fleeting one. That strange sensation where you know it’s not real, yet you can’t shake it off. How come it’s not real? The blurry lines between reality and imagination. It feels so real, so how could it not be real? But then you remember, it’s just a dream ☁️
That’s exactly what Cosmic felt like to me.
Clementine wakes every night from the same recurring dream about her ex Ryan whom she has not seen in years. In reality she is a translator with a loving partner Ethan yet the dream keeps pulling her back until she decides to see Ryan one last time.
What makes Cosmic special is its format. Written as a script it reads like a film unfolding scene by scene. The prose is simple yet powerful and the emphasis on words brings the story to life.
Immersive original and deeply engaging. If you want something fresh and emotional Cosmic is worth the read 🌙✨

Cosmic was my very first experience reading a screenplay, and I was both surprised and delighted by how much joy it brought me. The writing is light yet layered, touching on profound themes with words that flow effortlessly and beautifully.
What struck me most was the purity of love and selfless giving woven throughout the story — portrayed in such a tender and genuine way that it lingers long after the final page. It is rare to encounter something so heartfelt yet communicated with such simplicity.
This book has left me wanting more from this author, and I look forward to exploring their future works! Cosmic is a truly beautiful read — one that quietly opens your heart while entertaining you with its depth.

I swear my eyes are watery from the rain or something…
Okay. Who am I kidding? I kind of expected it but does it still hurt? Yes, yes it does.
I’ve read Romeo and Juliet’s screenplay before so this was definitely accepted by me (open arms even) safe to say, I enjoy reading screenplays. I like that there’s a literal movie playing in my head while I read the words on a piece of paper.
This story got me hooked from the first page until the last one. I just couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Clem and Ryan had me giddy! The banter was amazing! I’m in love with them your honour (sorry Ethan) I wanted more of them. I wanted them… God, my heart aches. I just wished it didn’t have to end like that. My heart hurts.

𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚. The more I think about this book, the more it hurts 😭 I’m not used to my theory being correct, and I genuinely thought it might be wrong because of how Anastasia told us the story through Clementine’s POV.
I’ve never experienced reading a screenplay before, but this book is written so well that it honestly felt like a movie was playing in my mind, I could vividly imagine how the scenes played out 🎬
I’d say I love Ryan and Clem’s relationship more, but I’m still glad that Ethan treats her right. Every time a scene with Ryan came up, I tried to look for any hints in their interactions that could lead to their breakup, but I swear, Ryan is just too sweet to be the type of guy who would leave her without any proper closure 😭
It made me look forward to their scenes together, and when the plot finally unfolded, it totally made sense why she kept having recurring dreams of Ryan ❤️🩹

Anastasia is good writing comfortable and gentle dialogue, plus she's good in choosing the music that match with the mood of the scene, below are 3 scenes that appear image in my mind through her writing:
(1) Created a natural conversational atmosphere during Clementine & Ryan first meet-up in cafe since they separated
(2) Expressing panic of Clementine when she found Ryan dissappeared during picnic
(3) Bring out a cozy conversational mood when Clementine & Ethan meet up conversation with Josh
But, I feel the whole storyline is quite soft, perhaps can make it be more compelling

This was my first time reading a screenplay, and I found it really interesting. The story was so engaging that I had a hard time putting the book down. The characters were vividly drawn, and the dialogue was natural. Each scene was well-paced, which kept me hooked throughout. Overall, it was a great read that made me excited to try more screenplays in the future. :)
