Out of her depth and in a strange world, Vega must regain her memories and learn to control the powers she was stripped of on Earth. Soon, Vega will learn that a broken heart can hurt worse than forgetting, and sometimes, loving someone simply isn't enough.
Dany is an over-caffeinated adult romantasy author currently living in southwest Michigan with her husband and four fur babies. Revenge of the Forgotten is her first book. Whenever she's not stuck in a fictional world, she enjoys being outdoors, diving into books that make her cry, and belting songs anywhere she goes like it's her own concert. She's been writing for fun since the late 2000s and recently started writing professionally to show herself and others like her that they can do hard things!
This book was absolutely breathtaking!! I loved this book so much and i can't wait for the next one! like i need it now! Vega is such a badass and so fun to follow along with! The side characters were also so incredible and i really really liked how all of them had different personalities and you could really differentiate them all. This book was filled with action and suspense and just honestly such an amazing adventure. It is crazy that this is the authors debut?!?!?! I loved it and will definitely be buying anything this author puts out!
I had the absolute PRIVILEGE of beta reading this BEAUTY of a book, and let me tell you… if you’re a romantasy fan, you’ve GOT to have this on your radar.
This book has everything, and I don’t say that lightly. We’ve got a complex and badass FMC who is also working through trauma and hurt, but who manages to represent the reality that she can be a baddie while ALSO be healing. We have a best friend duo that feels so real, it’s like they could walk off the page and be sitting in your living room. We have a DOOZY of an enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance brewing. A vengeful, terrifying villain who is so twisted in frightening, you’ll be thinking about her for days after reading my her on the page. We have a wildly complex and fleshed out world with adventure and magic and secrets. It’s just phenomenal, and I loved every moment of what Dany created.
This story will also take you by complete surprise. I never, EVER knew what was coming, and when I thought I did I always ended up wrong. The way these relationships are being built and explored is so unlike anything else I’ve read, and I can’t wait to see what else Dany’s imagination cooks up. I know it will be unexpected and exciting, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of this ride so far!
Revenge of the Forgotten drops TOMORROW, 9/13, and can be found on KU! You definitely do not want to miss it!
I’ve never been more thankful for filling out a little ARC form on Instagram. I was chosen to be an ARC reader for Dany Crooks debut novel Revenge of the forgotten and I was blown away. We follow Vega, whose world gets turned upside down when her sister murders their parents and overthrows the government becoming the only ruler and casting a curse on her that sends her to earth in a new life with no memories every time she dies
There is a curse, tension, loss, death, found family, betrayal, lovers to enemies, who hurt you? and a war that has been going on for 55 years. I was on the edge of my seat with secondhand anger while reading this needing to know what was going to happen next because wtf. Also Dany cannot make me like you Bridger, I need more answers and I need them NOW.
I liked the plot and the characters were written amazing but the pacing didnt sit with me. It took me till 50% to get into this. it picked up after that. Ill still read book 2.
There is tension. There is magic. There is confusion. There are different realms. Betrayal. Lifelong besties. Multi-life besties. A true love who might not be a true love but who actually might be? We don’t know.
I don’t remember if there was sex. I don’t really care….? That’s a first. I know there had to have been some scenes but honestly I GOBBLED THIS BOOK UP AND I AM JUST REELING.
I was expecting a cliffhanger ending but the ending I suspected was NOT THE ENDING I GOT?!?! My prediction was wrong and I was thrown for a damn loop.
This entire book is action upon action upon action and the stress is thick at every single moment. I was gnashing my jaw and wiggling my toes from the anxiety. So many times I held my breath, and so many times I was caught by surprise.
Having a multi-third-person-POV made things very interesting. Being able to see from the outside looking in at two different people, both so incredibly hurt and confused and damaged was incredibly jarring. I wanted to feel sorry for Bridger. I wanted to understand Bridger, and why he did what he did. And sometimes, I did. Sometimes I forgave him, but then I got whiplash and HATED him. Dude is walking a tightrope so narrow, it’s nearly fishing line. Vega coming into her own confidence and power was awesome. She realized what she was missing for all her lives, and she intends to make sure she fixes what she couldn’t before. Now I just need to know whether Bridger is going to truly be with her or against her. I’m not even sure if he knows himself at this point.
Revenge of the Forgotten is a solid choice for romantasy fans, particularly those who grew up reading YA novels with strong female protagonists in the mid-2000s. It blends familiar tropes and plot elements that may feel nostalgic while incorporating more mature themes, including graphic violence, spicy romance, and witty dialogue. While this genre isn’t my usual go-to, I picked up the book as part of a book club selection and ultimately found it to be an entertaining and engaging read, despite some elements that would typically deter me. The book offers an immersive world with high-stakes action, but its execution in certain areas leaves room for improvement.
Pros: One of the book’s strongest aspects is the author’s ability to craft intense and visceral scenes, particularly when it comes to violence. The antagonists feel genuinely menacing, and the stakes are heightened by the unapologetic brutality in key moments. Readers who appreciate dark fantasy with real consequences will likely find these aspects compelling.
Another notable strength is the inclusion of a trigger warning page at the beginning of the book. This small but important detail makes the story more accessible and inclusive, allowing readers to make informed decisions before diving into the more intense content.
Additionally, the book presents some intriguing ideas and character dynamics. Certain moments of tension between characters, particularly in high-pressure situations, create engaging interactions that keep the reader invested. There is clear potential in the relationships and conflicts introduced throughout the narrative.
Cons: While the book has its merits, several areas could have been stronger. One of the most noticeable issues is the writing style, which leans heavily into "purple prose." Overly descriptive passages often slow the pacing, making certain sections feel unnecessarily drawn out. While rich descriptions can enhance a fantasy novel, here they sometimes detract from the flow and impact of the story.
The romance between Bridger and Vega also felt somewhat unearned. Their relationship’s progression seemed abrupt and occasionally out of place within the broader narrative, making their dynamic feel forced rather than organically developed. Given the weight of their connection, a more gradual and nuanced buildup would have strengthened this aspect of the book.
World-building, magic systems, and lore are integral to any fantasy novel, yet here they felt underdeveloped, derivative, and at times inconsistent. The premise itself is intriguing, but the execution left many unanswered questions and lacked the depth needed to make the setting feel fully immersive. A more thorough exploration of the world’s history, rules, and consequences would have added much-needed richness.
Character motivations and plot tension also presented challenges. A key frustration was the protagonist’s repeated deaths, which seemed to lack meaningful consequences. This weakened the stakes, as her resurrections did not appear to significantly impact those around her. Furthermore, the point of tension and motivation for the characters feels like it’s caught in mud, making the stakes difficult to buy into. From the start, it’s frustrating that Vega has died so many times, yet her friends have no system in place to retrieve her efficiently or a refined plan of action. Instead, they leave it up to fate, chance, and a quirky road trip to bring her back, which undermines the tension and importance of her role. This lack of urgency and professionalism among her allies makes it hard to believe they are engaged in a high-stakes war. Their actions resemble those of aimless teenagers rather than seasoned warriors, and their choices lack the necessary haste and desperation.
Additionally, Vega’s inconsistent decisions throughout the book make it challenging to stay invested in the narrative. Her symbolic importance to the people is also unclear, making it difficult to grasp why she is revered in the way she is.
The major reveal about the characters being "Gods" felt underwhelming—given the timeline and context, it seemed implausible that no one had realized or addressed this earlier.
The dialogue and sentence structure occasionally disrupted immersion. Certain word choices, comma placements, and references felt unnatural or out of place, which made some interactions feel stilted. Additionally, the overuse of eye descriptions and the hypersexualized undertones in the protagonist’s relationships with her friends felt excessive. The nickname "Kitten," in particular, stood out as cringeworthy and off-putting, detracting from otherwise serious moments.
Finally, while the ending tied up loose threads, it felt both predictable and unsatisfying. Rather than making the journey feel worthwhile, it left a sense of anticlimax, as though the payoff did not fully match the buildup.
Final Thoughts: Despite its flaws, Revenge of the Forgotten has potential. With tighter editing, more refined world-building, and stronger character development, it could have been a much more compelling entry into the romantasy genre. Fans of mid-2000s dystopian heroines who don’t mind heavy descriptions, fast romance, and intense violence may still enjoy this book for what it is.
For the author, I encourage continuing to refine storytelling techniques, focusing on balancing prose with pacing, and deepening character arcs and world-building. There is definite talent in certain aspects of the writing, and with further refinement, future works could be even more impactful.

I loved this book so much, it was so addictive and fast-paced from the beginning and I loved every second with this book. I loved the fmc Vega so much and thought she was so strong and badass throughout the book.
I also really loved the battle between good and evil in this book, and all the tension 😮💨 I think I ran through all the emotions possible while reading this and that cliffhanger??? I need more asap 🤭
I read this book because it was compared to TOG. I was severely lied to.
This was such a promising premise but the execution was lacking.
- the fmc is 30 y/o but acts more juvenile than most 20 y/o fmcs (I forgot she was 30 most of the time cuz of how she acts) - the love triangle was so stupid. man with bun vs greatest warrior? like if you’re gonna write a love triangle make it a good one - adding to that, Khort. One of her best friends? A man she has rejected several times before? That love plotline pissed me off, even if it’s not realistic in the long run (at least I hope not) it was awful. - I don’t understand Marlena’s reasons to be so hateful. I just think they’re not high stakes enough - I wish we wouldn’t brush over her previous lives like that - I’m confused on Vegas and Bridger, he’s like in love with her but then isn’t but then is? I don’t get it. I don’t get why he hates her. I don’t get why he’s on her sisters side - this is more of a formatting thing but I wish the flashbacks/ memories were made more clear that they’re not present time
I forgot to add the main love interest calls her kitten
Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. I can’t FATHOM how this book could be a debut novel. It’s incredible! The writing immerses you immediately and the chokehold it’ll have you in will never let up.
Have you ever started a book and things just sort of hit the ground running?! That is what you can expect from this one! It was so intense, action packed, brutal, emotional and so exciting I could SCREAM! I couldn’t tell you how many times I caught myself either holding my breath or holding back sobs. Don’t expect this author to take it easy on you. This whirlwind ride of angst, longing and betrayal hits you where it hurts.
Highly recommended for fans of Fourth Wing!
Add if you love these tropes: ⚡️Powerful late-20s FMC ⚡️slow burn ⚡️second chance romance ⚡️lovers to enemies to? ⚡️morally grey MMC ⚡️found family ⚡️who did this to you? ⚡️roman mythology inspired ⚡️witty banter and tension ⚡️dual pov
Vega and the rest of the characters in this world go through literal hell at the hands of her psychopath sister, Marlena, and Vega’s brooding ex, Bridger! The curse that takes away her memories every time she dies has grown weaker over 55 years and the memories of her past lives begin to come back. We get to see her rediscover and harness her full power as a being that wields storms as she incites hope in a rebellion seeking to overthrow her wicked sister. We also get to see her struggle with the conflicting emotions surrounding the lingering love she feels for the man that betrayed her. On the flip side, we get a glimpse into Bridger’s motivations around his own life choices and it’s heart wrenching.
This first book is more plot with a sprinkle of romance. The actual romance is a slow SLOOOOOOWWWW burn, but it’s not even an issue! You won’t miss it because there are so many exciting things happening along the way! That’s generally not an easy thing for me to say since romance is my biggest selling point, but this was done so freaking well! It’s messy and angsty and I am dying to see things work themselves out.
“Revenge of the Forgotten” by Dany Crooks is a dark fantasy romance that ticks all the boxes for an enthralling read. This book weaves together elements of forgotten pasts, curses, mythology, and found family, creating a rich tapestry that draws you in. The dual POV and flashbacks add depth to the narrative, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in the characters’ journeys.
The main characters are well-written and likable, each with their own morally gray complexities that make them compelling and relatable. The world-building is exceptional, with a vivid and immersive setting that enhances the story’s allure. The plot is engaging and enjoyable, filled with twists and turns that keep you hooked.
However, the pacing is where I found some challenges. The story starts off slow, taking a while to gain momentum. But once it does, it becomes an exhilarating ride that doesn’t let up, leaving you breathless and eagerly anticipating the next installment. The cliffhanger ending is particularly noteworthy, leaving you with your mouth agape and desperate for more.
Overall, “Revenge of the Forgotten” is a captivating read that delivers on its promise of dark fantasy romance. Despite its slow start, it ultimately provides a thrilling and satisfying experience.
Holy wow! This is such a good read!! It really gave elder Fourth Wing vibes.
Firstly the FMC being 29? I love it. I do wish the book was a smidge spicier though. I kind of was/still am a bit skeptical of Bridger, but I love his character so much. The world building is different than what I’ve typically seen and it did take a little for me to get a grip on it, but I am SO glad that I was fortunate enough to be apart of this arc team.
I highly recommend reading this book if you loved Fourth Wing and Iron Flame!
4.25 ⭐️ Oh my God(s). I devoured that. What a treat to go into a book completely blind and be surprised, delighted & very stressed at every turn. The narrative was a breath of fresh air in genre that feels very standardized these days. This is the author’s debut novel which is insanely impressive as well. I just know this book is waiting for its viral recommendation moment!
I read this from a TikTok recommendation claiming this book rivaled TOG. After reading, that statement is absurd this does not even touch the surface of rivaling. It kept me entertained, but love triangle was barely there but still bad, pacing was horrible, and the stakes were honestly a joke. Cool concept though.
I was selected to be a beta reader for Revenge of the Forgotten & at first, I was really nervous because I had been in a reading slump for a little while. When I tell you that this debut novel from Dany Crooks pulled me out of that slump!!!
I was so interested in learning about the world with Vega. It was so cool having a main character that was closer to my age, not a teenager or an early twenty-something who was chosen to save the world, which I think is awesome! You can save the world at 29! You can't help but root for Vega. Not only did I fall in love with Vega, but I fell in love with the friendship she has with Arlet. In my opinion, Arlet deserves the world! I was captivated the entire time; whether it was learning about the world, the relationships between Vega and her friends from Tolevarre (shout out to Khort), the curse/getting her memories back, plot twists & of course daddy Bridger Dimico. I already need book 2! Like NOW!! I can't wait to see how this story develops from the cliffhanger of book 1.
Will I read the next book?? Yep. Will I rush to grab it the moment it comes out?? No.
The first 23 chapters were lacking. Slow, uninteresting. I'm not 100% sure what it was but I just wasn't invested and I didn't feel that urge to keep reading. And then suddenly the writing seemed smoother and the characters had some personality. I was next to hooked for the rest of the book. My heart actually broke for Marlena... matbe each Demi should've had their own pov novel!!
I’ve never related to a fantasy series more than I’ve related to this one. This book was incredible! The enemies to lovers was *so* good. There was a lot of world building but it was really spread out so it wasn’t overwhelming at all. The FMC is almost 30 and emotionally mature, I didn’t feel like she was naive. The cliff hanger 😱 I cannot wait for the next book.
If I had to review this masterpiece in just one sentence, it would be this: "I felt so many emotions while reading this book, I was so connected to the characters and the story that it feels like the book is now a part of me."

✧ This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. I've been dying to read it for over a year and when I finally got around to it I can't even tell you how I felt. (Completely crazy, unable to process what was happening, excited to read it, but soooo freaking scared to read it (because it means it's going to end at some point...) and really in denial the whole time!!!)
✧ From the very beginning, you're immersed in the story, right to the end, and you're like "what just happened?" Honestly, I'll never be able to express how amazing this story was. I haven't read a romantasy in YEARS and this was so freaking immensely incredible!
✧ I will never (ever) tell you how many times I gasped, threw my Kindle, giggled like a teenage girl, shed a few tears, cursed the H out of you know who (or will know when you read it), wanted to hug the characters, and about a thousand other things. One of the things I loved most about this book? I felt so sooooo close to the characters. I could feel all their emotions, like I was either in the book or all of them at the same time. That is what I love about reading. And this book delivered!!!
✧ I could go on and on about this book, but strangely enough I don't have the words to describe what it made me feel. It's so weird. But one thing I do know for sure? You should read it. It's so bloody good, and whether you're new to romantasy or an avid reader, I know you'll love it. (And keep me updated as you read!!!! So I don't feel too crazy with all the reactions I've had while reading it 🙈)
✧ I'm completely obsessed with this series, and even more so with Dany. I have already sent her my therapy bill, just waiting to hear from her... She's been awfully quiet /j No, but seriously, the cliffhanger absolutely killed me, and the angst, the tension, and everything between Vega and Khort? Killed me MULTIPLE TIMES!!!!!! And THE scene??? Damnnnnn! You're so not ready 😆🤣
✧ I cannot wait to read the whole series and see more and more people obsessed with it! I want to talk about this book all day every day!!!! (So feel free to come in my DMs so we can chat about it 🤭)
⚠ Be sure to check the TW before reading this book. The topics discussed are not for everyone. Respect your boundaries if you think this book might trigger you. ⚠

I would also like to thank Dany for sending me an ARC of her debut baby, you know how much I love you, even after this one crazy cliffhanger you're putting me through 🫶🏻
I will never stop fighting for you. Not in this life or any that follow. My love for you is stronger than any darkness this realm can create. Me and you, forever.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh my goodness, this book is an absolute powerhouse! I have to give it a firm 5/5 stars. Right from the prologue, I was sucked in, and by the end of Chapter 1, I was completely hooked. And let me tell you, Vega, the female main character who's 29 (plus a few extra lives), she is an absolute badass!
The way Vega takes on the challenges thrown her way is just awe-inspiring. From facing down her evil sister Marlena, who is *crazyyy*, to dealing with the infuriatingly handsome army commander, Vega handles it all with such grace and strength. Her determination to uncover her lost memories, break a curse, and save her people is truly remarkable.
Throughout the book, I found myself rooting for Vega every step of the way. Her courage, resilience, and fierce determination make her a character that you just can't help but admire. And with the added elements of Roman gods, magical powers, and a rising rebellion, Vega's journey becomes even more captivating and intense.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dany Crooks for selecting me as an ARC reader. I can't believe "Revenge of the Forgotten" is her debut book! Congratulations, Dany, on such an incredible first novel. This honest review is exchanged for an ARC, and I am grateful for the opportunity to experience and share this fantastic story with others. I cannot wait to see what Dany Crooks has in store for us next!
If you enjoyed books like Fourth Wing or Iron Flame, or if you're just starting to dip your toes into the world of romantasy, then I would definitely recommend picking up "Revenge of the Forgotten." It's a thrilling and captivating read that will leave you longing for more. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on Vega's epic journey! And let's not forget, Marlena definitely needs her own book to delve into why she became the way she is. The layers of her character are simply begging to be explored further!
I could not pick just one quote since both are living rent free in my head!
I had the absolute pleasure of reading Revenge of the Forgotten. It was incredible! This book was pure genius. The magic system felt fresh and unique—something I don’t usually come across, especially with its incorporation of Roman mythology. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Greek gods, but it was so refreshing to hear Roman names instead.
Vega’s journey is absolutely heartbreaking. Cursed to relive earthly lives she doesn’t remember, she’s been through so much during her cursed lives—her current life as a “mortal” on Earth is marred by heartache, loss, and deep-seated anger. But through it all, she remains incredibly brave and strong. I love how unapologetically fierce she is, never holding back with her words or her actions.
Vega’s sister Marlena, on the other hand, is truly an easy character to hate. She’s broken and consumed by her anger, and her actions reflect that darkness within her. It’s rare to feel such strong emotions toward a villain, but I appreciated how I could feel that anger and hate through the words on the page. That complexity made her a standout antagonist for me.
I couldn’t get enough of this story, especially with how deeply I connected to each of the characters and plot.
And✨chapter 23✨… Second character syndrome has hit me hard, and I have no shame admitting that I’ve re-read that chapter more times than I can count! I screamed, and now I’m just waiting for Khort to deliver something epic in book two. Team Khort forever lol
Bridger, Vega’s former partner before her memories were “erased”, is a complex and tortured character. He’s feared, and he leans into that fear as a way to numb his own pain. While I didn’t love him as a match for Vega, I still appreciated their moments and felt deeply for the one who forgets and the one who remembers it all.
I’m beyond excited for book two. Team Khort all the way, but I’m definitely intrigued to learn more about Bridger.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👉Review: This was an amazing debut novel!! The prologue absolutely hooks you in and the rest of the story keeps you captivated.
It was so fun learning about the world and the curse. Vega was a bad ass.. Such a strong FMC, even when she forgot who she was! The character development was *chefs kiss*! Marlena pissed me off, though!!
It was so cool having Earth as an alternate dimension! My only complaint is the cliffhanger!! I need book 2!!!
👉Blurb: She’s cursed to forget.
He remembers everything.
Vega Caelum's life has always felt like a long string of bad luck. When she finally hits rock bottom, a stranger sits beside her in a rundown bar and changes the course of her life forever. There are memories, people, and a dawning rebellion waiting for her a realm away. Vega must choose to trust what might be a well-thought-out scam or go back to a life that never seemed to want her.
In Tolevarre, Commander Bridger Dimico is haunted by his past. Under the thumb of Marlena, Vega's sister and the realm's ruthless ruler, Bridger has been honed into an unforgiving warrior. But when dreams of Vega start to consume him, everything he has forced himself to forget comes crashing back.
Out of her depth and in a strange world, Vega must regain her memories and learn to control the powers she was stripped of on Earth. Soon, Vega will learn that a broken heart can hurt worse than forgetting, and sometimes, loving someone simply isn't enough.
I laid awake at night excited to read this. I was at work, distracted, waiting to get to pick this book back up. I haven’t shut up about it since page 1. Now that I’ve finished it, I will not be okay until book 2 is in my hands!!!
Bridger, no don’t be a bad guy you’re so sexy haha!! I AM OBSESSED. WHO DID THIS TO YOU?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?
Vega, Vega, you have become my best friend in these pages and I am rooting for you in a way I have rooted for very few other characters in my life.
The anticipation and motives made this book constantly exciting, never a dull moment. A book that made every page worth it. Every detail and scene was purposeful, never a waste or line worth skipping.
The relationships between the characters is so real and tangible it felt invasive to read them, I couldn’t look away because they were so present to me. Every character has a place in my head, you find yourself thinking how they think and analyzing situations how they would.
Such a fantastic fantasy novel, literally I haven’t read a fantasy book in years because they sometimes can bore me, but this book?? I would devour this entire series NOW if I could - I’m officially a fantasy girlie thanks to danny crooks!!
This book was WOW!! The storyline just blew me away. The level of tension and betrayal was through the roof. The character development and world building was on point. The side characters were amazing. It’s a unique action packed fantasy with a romance subplot. It was incredible.
Vega is cursed to forget everything she knows and constantly restart her life filled with bad luck and misfortunes. Cursed by her vengeful sister, Vega struggles to remember and hold on to her real life in a different realm where she is hunted by the one person who said they would fight for her until the end. I had a strong feeling about what was going to happen at the end but it didn’t make the cliffhanger any less shocking. I cannot wait for the next book!!
I want to thank the author, Dany Crooks, for gifting me the eARC in exchange for an honest review. I can’t wait to get this book on my shelf! It was a privilege to be on your ARC team!
The worst part about reading this book was the fact that I kept being interrupted by things like sleep and work, making it impossible to consume the whole thing in one sitting - which is what I really wanted to do. (Eyeroll) #Adulting, amiright?
But really, though. The way Dany draws you in during the prologue and never seems to sit you back down (which includes the ending, leaving you begging for more) is fascinating. This hardly seems like a debut novel and I cannot wait to see where this author goes from here! From the plot to the vivid descriptions and world-building, to the relationships between characters, it really will have you feeling all the feels. Hell, I even felt for Marlena at times (the antagonist!)
Vega, Bridger, Khort and Arlet are waiting for you in Tollevarre... with promises of Gods, powers, a brewing war, a little spice and more.
This book was a recommendation from a fellow Bookstagrammer and I really enjoyed it! Revenge of the Forgotten is a debut book which is crazy to think about because it the story was captivating and full of surprises. A badass FMC who doesn’t remember she’s a badass? Omg, brilliant! The plot was well thought out and the complex nature of the curses kept me questioning everything. ROTF checked all the romantasy boxes for me, including lovers to enemies with a potential second chance and a beautiful rendition of found family. I’m looking forward to the prequel coming out on March 28th and book #2 hopefully soon!
“It’s okay to be sad, but do not let yourself believe this is your fault. You are a mere butterfly caught in the web of a deadly spider.”
This has been one of my favorite books I have read in years. I love anything that weaves in mythology and this author has done such a great job taking Roman mythology and creating a unique and fresh take on the tales. Her characters are so compelling. The story is so fresh and unique. I tried to pace myself in reading this because I didn’t want to devour it all in one sitting and not have more of it to read. I can’t even be mad about the cliff hanger at the end of the book as it was done so well. This author is definitely one to watch, I think she has an amazing career ahead of her.

Wow, this book exceeded all my expectations! It was such an interesting story/concept and I cannot wait for the next book to come out. The only thing that I have a slight complaint about is that it was a little bit confusing at times with the various timelines throughout the book and I wish the chapters had been labeled to orient the reader. By the end I had adapted and understood the flow better but I was very confused at the beginning.
hot tip - after you finish reading the book, go back and re-read the prologue! It makes SO much more sense and ties everything together.
I can’t lie I didn’t like Vega until she got her memories back. I think my favourite characters are Bridger and Meyer.. idk what that says about me.
I enjoyed the writing and the plot and what was happening but at times it felt slow and sometimes it jumps back to memories and past events but it isn’t really clear? Or it wasn’t on my kindle. So that would’ve been good to have a bit more clarity in how it’s published potentially. But I liked this and it all got super interesting right at the damn end so I guess I have to wait to read book 2
this book had potential to be a 5 star read, but it fell flat. where are the explanations for why Bridger chose Marlena’s side? where is the shock of Vega getting all of her memories back? you’re telling me she has all of her memories come back to her — including those from her past lives — and she doesn’t even have a headache? she doesn’t analyze any of them? also, you’re telling me the archives to find the solution for the curse wasn’t an idea until the end of the book for either of the sisters? once again, a romantasy book with no substance :/
