I could never write a serious, unbiased review about this. I love Critical Role, the Mighty Nein, and this one had my two favorites, Molly and Beau, rendered in such beautiful art and their story told with loving detail.

Very fun to read them after watching season 1 of the animated show and seeing all that has already made it into it. CAN'T WAIT until they tackle Beau's, that's gonna be so much fun.

Mis favoritos de este tomo fueron Molly y Caduceus, tanto en historia cómo en arte. (+) Me encantó cómo conectaban con el resto del equipo al final de cada historia y ver el estilo diferente de cada ilustración.

All of the artwork in this volume was amazing and I liked how with this volume we get the backstories of characters who are not immediately revealed in the original media (whereas volume 1 felt more like an excuse to draw them, this felt a little bit more extra details to their stories). I still think these “origins” aren’t as necessary as the vox machina ones but I can’t help but give my man, Cad, 5 stars.

Amazing art, love Molly’s deal, hated the way he was treated when he woke up like it reminded me the “born sexy yesterday” trope ehhhh. Loved molly and yasha <3, LOVE the incorporation of the tarot cards!!!!!

Beau - ⭐️⭐️

Just… not well written. The art style didnt vibe with me and just Beau is so stupid & I don’t like that Tori is older than her & her dad’s motivations were so weird and idk where the problem stems from lmao

Fjord - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Honestly my least fav of the M9 but this was a solid comic, the storytelling was great, amazing art, and the TEETH PART OMFG, this one was just really well done!!!

I LOVE YOU CADUCEUSSSSSSS OMFG my fav of this volume!!!!!! idk how it ranks in all but OMG that was amazing and i’m such a sucker for characters & stories that center grief/death!!! this was handled beautifully, the story was great and the art is amazing and SERENDIPITY!!!!!!!! I love fate and this made me cry sad and happy tears!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰

- Mollymauk Tealeaf: So, sir just appeared out of nowhere and joined a circus?

- Beauregard Lionett: This was on stubborn woman but I feel like there is something more or there better be an explanation as to why her dad was like that. Unless if it is my fantasy mind spiralling but it seemed like her dad was scared of outside people being involved in his business and the witch stuff and how he was poor and then got rich - it gets one thinking.


- Fjord Stone : This was some sad stuff.And when he cut his cute tusks, heartbreaking.

- Caduceus Clay: I don't know this man, because he was not present in the animation series but someone on TikTok said it is going to be very good, and I am excited. Because even his backstory is rather intriguing. But is he is rabbit or part of the Fauns/Satyrs family?



Either way, I am excited that Critical Role is animating this one.

- Personal preference: some art styles are more compelling to me than others.


Summarily, I wish there were more collected volumes of the Mighty Nein's adventures, as they are witty, surprisingly deep, & beautifully illustrated. Recommended for fans of Vox Machina (obviously), D&D, Saga, & Invincible.

The artwork for Molly's story is absolutely stunning. The tarot cards! The colors! The details! I didn't like the artwork for Beau's story, but that's just personal preference, I guess. Loved the deep blue ocean panels in Fjords part. I was impressed with the artwork for Cadeuceus' story. The nature images were so beautiful and it mirrored Cadeuceus' soft, pastel color palette throughout. So well done! I'm looking forward to the origin stories of the campaign 3 characters.

I liked these 4 better than the first! I still think that generally these aren't a good fit for people not already familiar, but it's a fun nostalgic read. I felt like we got more new information here with Mollymauk and Fjord, so that was a pleasant surprise! I also liked the art in all four of these a lot.

Does its job and gives the backstories of these various characters from Critical Role Campaign 2. Gets 5/5 because it sets out what it aims to do . . . and that's all it aims to do. I liked seeing Fjord's backstory in more detail in particular.

I think this origins series is at its best when it really leans into being plot-lite, character-focused, and this quartet really proves that. So much beautiful art in this collection. Especially for Caduceus--those environments were seriously stunning. So lush and yet so haunting. I want to live in one of those panels.
