An ex-married couple. Thousands of memories. One road trip.
Can they make it from San Francisco back to Nantucket without breaking one another's hearts all over again?
It's been more than thirty years since Joel Sutton died.
That means it's been more than thirty years since Victor Sutton packed up his bags and abandoned Esme, Rebecca, Bethany, and Valerie for his secretary Bree.
But that is only one chapter of a much longer story.
Nobody ever talks about those other chapters. But they happened. And they still matter to both Esme and Victor.
Esme and Victor met long before any of that drama unfolded. In fact, they met as competing intellectuals at Nantucket High School.
Back then, Esme was sure she'd marry her high school boyfriend Hank and spend the rest of her life happy, in love, and mothering the children they'd have together.
Victor was sure he'd end up at an Ivy League university and become someone prominent in his field. After all, Victor's success was the only thing that made his father love him.
But everything got so messy.
Everything is still messy -- even now that they're seventy years old.
Can they overcome the past? Should they acknowledge how they feel about one another? Or should they put to rest a love they've always known to be magical and true?
Dive into book four of The Sutton Book Club series, which digs into the heart and soul of the Sutton family, the power of truth and love, and the complex nature of human relationships.

Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.
Every time I get a new book by Katie Winters, I can’t help but take a moment and wonder if it will be as amazing as the previous ones. Will it have the same angst, the same suspense, the same heartbreaking love? Let me assure you that THIS book is truly a masterpiece! I’ve never thought much of Victor Sutton—he’s the bast##d that destroyed so many lives with his ego and lies. So imagine my shock and surprise when Wild Lilies chronicles the life and love with his first wife Esme. You better have that wine and tissues ready as you’re definitely going to need them!
I can’t for the life of me figure out where Katie Winters comes up with these incredible stories…but man am I glad she does! The Wild Lilies storyline is simply s; the characters are developed so well you can’t help but love to hate them; the plot twists and turns are just amazing; and the lead up to the possible HEA—oh dear lord! You definitely have to add this one to your TBR list!
Thank you, Katie Winters for another amazing story! So very good…(I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally impressed by it!) ❤️❤️
The 4th book in The Sutton Book Club series focuses on the love and rejection story of Victor Sutton and his first wife Esme. It was curious to see how Victor and Esme's families affected their lives and their goals, often negatively. After superstar psychiatrist Victor's fall from grace, it's interesting to see how he realizes how terribly he has treated his family and now yearns for their love and acceptance. Esme has fulfilled some of her earlier dreams and is afraid of forgiving Victor for his dismissal. I appreciated the concentration on older members of the family. This book deftly analyzes a couple's relationship through the years.
Esme and Victor divorced when Victor was cheating with his secretary.
Fast forward and the pair are approaching 70. They set off to California to help Valerie and Alex make a cross country move to Nantucket. When a job offer tempts Valerie, Victor and Esme volunteer to drive cross country with the truck load of furniture. Somewhere along the way, in Colorado, Esme opens up about their early time together. Lots of history is revealed about their past relationship. Esme then slips away from Victor and goes to visit her sister. What does the future hold for Esme? Will she find Love again?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion
This is truly Esme and Victor's story - and it's a good one. Starts in San Fran - helping Valerie move her stuff back to Nantucket. Add in a road trip for Victor and Esme - and things (feelings) get complicated. We learn a lot more about Esme's backstory - which was fascinating - especially her sister! Victor too. We also see the family becoming closer as a unit - which just makes my heart happy. Can't wait for the next story!
Wild Lilies is book 4 in the Sutton Book Club series by Katie Winters.
Up next is Victor and Esme’s story of ex’s taking a road trip from the west coast to the east coast to help their daughter move back east. We visit the past to understand their story and how it affected the family to the present…can they overcome their past to heal the family ties…read on to see…
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A glimpse of more history of Esme and Victor. Bouncing from past to present gives us a look at their struggle to identify their current relationship. So much hurt and betrayal, but they are much older and wiser now. Can they overcome their past and form a closer relationship for their children and grandchildren? As always, Katie gives us a look at the Sutton family through tears and love.❤️
This book was somewhat confusing to me, as one who has been cheated upon. I am unable to follow Esme's conflicting thoughts and will be anxious to read more in hopes of further understanding the degree to which she accepts what had happened in the past.
This book in this series was great. It brought back so much of everyone's past and then brought it full circle. I enjoyed how everyone had changed and Valerie and Alex got a second chance to have a baby. I am looking forward to reading the next chapter in their lives.
This was one of the best! Even though Victor failed his family the story shows forgiveness makes all things possible. Forgiveness brings happiness and a family back together!
What a wonderful story.Life has a way of putting things into perspective, you love and live a full life with ups and downs. This family really wants to be whole again. You should read this series, the journey is well worth it.
Interesting story that takes time to develop the characters in bringing times from the past to present, developing and learning from past mistakes to reestablish new feelings.
What I like about this series, is that every book does NOT rehash the book before. The story just CONTINUES. After reading the first in the series I ordered the rest of them and as I finish one I go right to the next. I hope you'll enjoy this series as much as I have!
I really enjoyed this book. I like the reality of the characters, their feelings, and thoughts . When a story makes you think and analyze your thoughts and feelings it is a great book and this does.
This story line of a family from America I you don't want it, but this one is not as captivating as the previos ones, but I want to finish all of them .
I really enjoyed this story. I have read several of her books and have enjoyed each one very much. I would recommend them to my friends and family. Always a go to author!
