This was two novellas in one: Bridging the Divide and Battling the Bureaucracy.
In Bridging the Divide, Lisa is determined to pass reproductive rights, and finds an unlikely ally in Paul. Sounds like an episode of The West Wing, maybe Donna and Josh due to the hate to love you vibes, no? And it's delightful. The reader isn't beaten over the head with rhetoric, just common sense and decency. There's romance as well - which is why I was interested in reading it, originally as part of the Girls Just Wanna Have Fundamental Rights anthology published in 2023.
Battling the Bureaucracy deals with corrupt lobbyists who are a threat to FMC Georgie. Dashing and determined to protect Georgie, Asher swoops in and brings her home with him until her blackmailers are reckoned with, all the while the pair deal with their wild attraction to each other.
I really enjoyed both novellas, so I was glad to have been selected to receive an advance reader copy from the author and bookfunnel, and I'm happy to share my honest review.
This is the first book I've read by Cecilia Conway!
If you’re searching for a romance enriched with political intrigue, this book is a perfect choice! I truly admired how, despite their differing political views, the characters were able to unite and support each other during challenging times. It made the story feel particularly meaningful, working together instead of tearing each other apart.
This book was unlike anything I’ve read before. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development throughout the narrative. Initially, (to be completely honest) I was unsure about Price, but he ultimately won me over. :)
Thank you for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Congratulations on your book, Cecilia! <3
